  1. I wouldn’t trust her… she’s WAY too angry. Looks like she needs an evaluation… scary that she’s making the rules for the state to live by with her mental disorder.

    • Claw hammers and circular saws require skill and attention as well but, being sexist and agest for the moment, are both tools you don’t want grandma wielding without proper training and enough muscle mass to operate safely.

The flaw in her logic is placing herself at the center of the argument and then using herself as the measuring stick. I imagine she makes all kinds of legally binding decisions about things she has no knowledge of nor any experience with. So playing the I’m-a-dope card on guns is disingenuous.

        • It doesn’t happen in a vacuum. I don’t remember for sure, but this may have been the “better” (or least-worst?) choice in the last election. Unlikely, but possible.

        • She was a Regional Trust Manager for Wells Fargo. Well now, doesn’t that just say it all. Sounds like a bank position created for a Monty Python skit.

        • Fargo; it’s our one liberal enclave. This stupid bitch couldn’t get elected dogcatcher anywhere else in the state.

    • This is where Dem/prog/anti animus comes from. They know they cannot be trusted with a gun, therefore they project this outlook on everyone else.

    • It makes one wonder – if she thinks she would be an irresponsible gun owner, what makes her think she’s a responsible legislator?
More to the point, what makes voters think she’s a responsible legislator?

    • If she can’t be trusted with a gun, how could she be trusted to make laws? In essence she is admitting that she is dangerous and not trustworthy. Not being trustworthy with a gun would by logical extension mean she is not trustworthy to be in the military or work as a police officer.

She should resign from office and get immediate mental health care,

  2. I may not be a doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn once and I’m pretty sure that N. Dakota’s conceal carry everywhere else hasn’t resulted in a literal or figurative tidal wave of blood in the streets and that this is a run on sentence.

But who am I to reference empirical evidence when…. feelings.

    • Better that she go to the “pen” than be on the loose. After all, if by her own admission, she can’t be trusted with a firearm, then for the good of society she needs to be put away someplace “safe”.

  3. But we can trust her to legislate?
If she’s so concerned about saving others from her she should resign.

    • This…if she can’t be trusted with a firearm, then she is obviously too much of a deviant or retard to be a legislator.

  4. It’s my observation that most anti-gun people don’t trust themselves with a gun. It’s their projection onto everyone else that causes them to be anti-gun for all of us.

  5. If she can’t be trusted with a gun she can’t be trusted outside a controlled environment.

And she’s still yet more proof that the anti gunners know they can’t handle the responsibility of a gun and just assume all others are as broken as they are.

  6. So she thinks it acceptable to make laws for others based on her self-evaluation of her abilities?

I know they don’t have the men with the white coats and butterfly nets anymore but surely there is someone that we can call to get this woman the help she is so obviously crying out for.

    • That’s the typical liberal argument. If they wouldn’t trust themselves, with their mental conditions, they think it should be prohibited for all.

    • Grumpy Cat. Grumpy Legislator. She actually had a 32 year career in banking, retiring as a Sr. V.P. with Well Fargo, before running for office in 2014. Could just imagine sitting across the desk from that back in the day, trying to get a home mortgage loan from Grumpy Banker? I’d rather live in a van down by the river.

  7. And there it is ladies and gentlemen, the (not so) secret core motivation behind gun control…projection. She knows that she couldn’t handle the responsibility, so she thinks you can’t either.

    • Excellent analysis, I’ve come to the conclusion that folks like her also have serious “anger issues”.

      • Indeed. I’ve undergone something of a political transformation in recent years (from the center-left to the libertarian right) and as such, now that I’m no longer a member of their tribe I’ve began to notice the undercurrent of anger and megalomania within many of my former political cohorts. Control, winning elections and political tribalism that’s all this nonsense is about. The desire to control others (I would argue) requires a lack of self-esteem and supremely bleak view of your neighbors.

        • Not to mention a very bleak view of themselves. Welcome to the Sane Side, where personal responsibility is considered a virtue, not a suspicious sign of unacceptable mental activity, a/k/a thinking for yourself.

    • No … she *knows* she can’t handle the responsibility, and if she can’t, she *knows* you can’t either.

  8. just think of it, I probably do carry a gun, and that should make you feel safer, of course I’m comfortable with it and not a mental hazard.

  9. Oh well, guess I can’t retire to Fargo. Any locale that would elect this type of freak for representation is a no go.

  10. My mind boggles at the thought that a woman who thinks she shouldn’t be trusted with a gun still thinks she should be trusted with a vote in the state legislature.

  11. I applaud her self-awareness, and suggest that she needs to work on her tendency towards projection.

  12. Even after the correction noted at the bottom of that article, it still has multiple errors and omissions. It’s one of the worst-worded articles I’ve ever seen, and that’s a pretty high bar, given some of the crap I’ve seen in print.

The bill they are taking was NOT a part of a group of weapons laws previously proposed, as stated in the article. Instead, it started out as a “correction” bill for an existing law, so folks who were caught carrying without their permit on their person would get a 10-day grace period to show their permit so they wouldn’t be punished. Then they amended it to include this clause allowing “elected officials” (not just legislators, but ANY elected official, apparently; dogcatcher, anyone?) to carry in public buildings and at public gatherings (currently prohibited).

The “enhanced permit” requirement referenced in the article is incorrect; the permit that would be required is a ND Class 2 permit, which is the most BASIC permit, only requiring open-book testing.

  13. Worse than a gun in that building, where she would have a group of targets limited to fellow politicians, she has a vote which has a range that will shoot all the way to the state line in any direction. That weapon has the power to shoot through stone, steel, or statute, and we the people only have the Constitution to protect us from the evil that lurks in the heart of politicians like her!

  14. “Think of it — I could be walking around with a gun and that should make everybody nervous.”
Now that there’s funny no matter who you are.

  15. Let me get this straight: we cannot trust North Dakota Rep. Pam Anderson with a firearm … but we can trust her with a vehicle, knife, rat poison, and gasoline/matches. Got it.

Ms. Anderson unwittingly makes one of the most compelling arguments to be armed … apparently people with no impulse control surround us and could lash out at any moment for little or no reason. And since those people can easily acquire chainsaws, machetes, knives, hammers, vehicles, matches, and gasoline, we would be wise to be armed and able to defend ourselves from all of these ticking time bombs among us.

  16. Wow! This kind of political ninny in N. Dakota?!? This something I’d expect in Massachusetts, NOT there! How did this person become a state rep.?!

    • She represents Fargo (basically think of it as a wannabe Minneapolis uptown or San Francisco Bay Area).

Don’t worry we also have plenty of the ‘pray the crazy away and close the state mental hospital’ types too… I wish I was joking.

        • Yup that’s more or less what I think of when I think of fargo… of course my big things in fargo are in-laws, scheels, all you can eat sushi and fleet farm so maybe to a local it’s more nuanced.

        • You’re right on that count. I used to visit Fargo as an outsider (also to see the in-laws and other relatives), and it definitely changes once you live here for a while. We do have the feeling it’s becoming San-Francisco-On-The-Red-River more and more, though.

  17. Then don’t carry a gat crazy cat. Ya’ know I had several conversations(at the gym mostly) about carrying concealed. This was before Illinois had CC. Several(all black men) said they couldn’t trust themselves. And they were honest about their lack of self-control(maybe too much). I’m cool with this Pam Anderson unarmed…

    • I’m fine with her being unarmed, too. I’m NOT fine with her demanding that everyone else be unarmed, simply because of her inadequacies.

  18. So let me see if I understand this correctly. By her own admission, she should not be trusted to carry a gun, but we should trust her with the power of the state?

  19. Suppose you had the power of life and death on your hip, okay? The power of freakin’ life and death! Like, right there; you’ve got your Glock or one of these machine guns they let you have and they have one of those silencers so nobody can hear it when you start shooting. And all you have to do to exercise this power is: you want to. Yo just reach down and get that power and, like, USE it. Against whoever, okay? You’re walking down the street and _every_single_person_ you pass is alive only because you don’t happen to want them dead at that particular minute.

What would you do? What would any normal person who even begins to understand – who even CAN BEGIN to understand – how fucked up we are, okay? You’ve got corporations hijacking BlackLivesMatter so they can sell SODA, for Chrissakes! And the oppression and white privilege and fucking Trump not even, like,… that guy won’t even be impeached because of the Republicans. But look, any normal person would do what I’d do, which is shoot everybody. Some happy white family with their damn middle class suburban kids who don’t EVEN BEGIN to understand intersectionality, you’d just shoot ’em all. And we simply CANNOT have a society like that. So, no guns.

    – Pam Anderson (D) ND

  20. If you’re too unstable to carry a gun, then how are you stable enough to create public policy capable of destroying the loves of millions in your state?

    Short answer: YOU’RE NOT.

  21. Sweetie , can I call her that ? There are all sorts of folks we can not or should not trust to own , carry ( concealed or otherwise ) a firearm of any type , size or caliber . They are everywhere , all around us , and making guns illegal , unlawful to own or carry , will not stop this …………………… THAT’S WHY WE NEED TO RETAIN ‘ OUR ‘ RIGHT TO OWN AND CARRY ! So we can stop dummy , irresponsible , unreasonable , nut jobs , like you SWEETIE , if the need arises . >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Drops mike .

  22. She says we should be concerned she may have a gun yet we gave her the trust and ability to shape policy.

  23. Coworkers are looking at me like I’m a maniac due to my non-stop laughter. TTAG commentary — best break in the day.

  24. I spent a year in Minot back in 2011, if memory serves. Nice little berg. Sportsmans loft, and Wallys world of knives were all l had to maintain sanity.

    • Ah, good old “Why not Minot? Freezin’s the reason!”.

Lived there in the 80s-90s. Big difference pre-flood/pre-oil-boom and after both.
