    • They’re great to hide behind when there’s an active shooter.

Probably should add lights and a siren to them, since it’s clear these law breakers aren’t noticing them.

  1. “They say it’s a drug free and a gun free school, so why do they need guns?”

We need to map the brains of these people. Find out which sections arent firing because something is seriously wrong when their reality tells them that a simple decree is absolute. Otherwise just have the Pope stand on his balcony and decree “there shall be no more war” and bingo bango we have world peace.

    • And here’s ‘T’ using the media’s buzzwords ‘spraying bullets’. Just never been able to figure out how that’s done. Must be a hell of a big bug sprayer to get all those rounds to flow through the system.

      • I’ve never understood that either. Seeing as how only one bullet exits the barrel at a time, where does this notion of “spraying” come from? Is it dark and smelly in there?

        • Alright I get it. Dumb word to use. But Richard made me laugh with his joke about the big bug sprayer.

  2. “They say it’s a drug free and a gun free school, so why do they need guns?”

THIS, this is what our education system turns out. Well, Virginia, maybe those signs don’t tell the whole truth and maybe the bad people do not follow the signs and Oh! one more thing, when the bad people start shooting at you, those magical signs cannot stop the bullets heading your way no matter what the teachers have brain washed you to believe.

I wonder if she believes in unicorns too?

    • Maybe they should start making them out of carbon nanotubes and letting students “shelter in place” behind them. Then they’d actually be able to help make people safer!

  3. From the article: “’It’s not that big of a school and we really don’t have much violence go on here, so I don’t think that’s really necessary,’ said Roger Garcia”.
Was Sandy Hook a large school? Was there “much violence” there? Do you think that having one or more armed guards would have been a good thing in that situation?

    • Actually, they would say that more guns would have made things worse.

I like to think I am a smart person. I try hard, really hard, to understand the positions of those who I disagree with. In this case, I simply cannot see how an armed teacher could have made things worse. Even in the absolute worst case scenario where the teacher accidentally shot another student while trying to hit the assailant, that still wouldn’t be worse than having him continue his rampage unchallenged.

      Now my head hurts again…

      • That’s because there is no “thought process” involved in the antigun nut brainpan. All it can do is parrot the dogma, like a tape player on infinite loop.

      • Because anyone who would teach must be batshit crazy? Those teachers, you know, after twenty years they are on a hair trigger….

  4. What a great way to solve Chicago’s overwhelming fiscal crisis. Declare the city drug free and gun free and get rid of the Police Department. Besides the direct savings, the city would save billions in lawsuit payments.

It would be more accurate to declare the quoted students as “intelligence free”.

    • If you watch carefully you’ll see it’s a Sig P220 (single stack mag). Obviously the reporter screwed up and meant .45. As for the students…. It would be funny if they weren’t woefully naïve. The media bias shows through at the end when they throw in a blurb about how NMCC security don’t carry. Quite frankly if I was a student there I’d be carrying anyway, just like I do now.

  5. I think the reporter said the four guards now have .44 caliber guns. That seems unlikely.

Besides that though, honestly, what’s with these irrational little ninnies freaking out about this?

    • New Mexico is actually an “open carry” state, and will honor just about anybody else’s CC permits. But I’m gonna make –yes, I’ll say it–an educated guess that such does not apply to college campuses there. If Annastasia weren’t such a sterling example of modern public education, I would simply conclude that students are prohibited from carrying, since she says it’s a gun-free campus. But I ain’t taking her word for anything.

  6. Drug free school? Those don’t exist…

People need to quit kidding themselves.

When I was in HS I could get drugs easier than I could get alcohol and cigs. Drug dealers do not check for ID.

People need to get off this whole sign protection thing, it’s a piece of metal with paint on it, not an impenetrable force field.

    • Oh, and if the kids aren’t getting high, the teachers sure are…

The only thing that seperates 22 yrs old college girl, Kate Johnson, from smoking pot and doing keg stands at the frat house and Miss. Johnson your kids first year kindergarten teacher is a few months and a piece of paper.

        • I send my kids to private school, I don’t know if it changes much in the way of drugs, but it does provide them a better education.

Home school isn’t an option for my family.

I have a great job and so does my wife. She didn’t bust her ass for ten yrs putting herself through college to be a Susie Homemarker. And, I would be the worst stay at home dad ever, I like being outside and playing too much. The kids and I would end up fishing and hunting all day. Little would get accomplished.

        • Thinking too much inside the box, there, friend.

Being outside DOING stuff is a GREAT way to educate your children. How in the heck do you think “education” was done for thousands of years of civilization before someone thought of the “wisdom” of compulsory, institutionalized school?

Don’t fall into the trap that homeschooling = sitting at a desk all day mimicking all the failures of the institution.

No beef with your personal educational choices for your children, but you CAN homeschool if you want to….you or your wife. If you were to set that as a priority, you could do it.

        • Respectfully, ROHC, if “Susie homemaker” is educating the children , those years in college aren’t exactly going to waste. And JR is exactly right, one of the great advantages of home schooling is the ability to tailor your , ahh, “program” to your family’s particular situation.

      • If they are separated by even that much. Let’s not assume Kate grew up and changed her behavior during those few months.

  7. “They say it’s a drug free and a gun free school…” So whatever they say must be true and you should never question them. Okay got it.

    • Read some of John Taylor Gatto’s writing; the public education system was designed to teach precisely that…follow authority without question (in many cases in the early years, “authority” was meant to be your supervisor at the factory you were destined to work in).

  8. I am not aware of any company that manufactures a .44 caliber semi-auto hand gun. Reporters should get their facts straight and stop interviewing the campus idiots for their opinions.

  9. I always ask this of people at both colleges I have attended. I always get back “for protection”. So now I follow up with if they need it for protection how come I can’t protect myself. I manage to carry off campus and never shoot anyone or myself what is the difference. I have yet to have a good response from professors or students.

  10. Sig makes a .44 mag handgun?

That aside, those two people do not understand that it really isn’t a gun free zone. Shoot, I had kids that brought knives and a machete into my elementary school in the 90’s. There is no such thing as a gun/weapon free zone. To think so is to be naive

  11. Drug Free Schools? That’s hilarious. In college drugs are not only available, they’re *discounted*.

Gun free? Another lol. About time someone saw the light and realized you can’t stop a bullet with a sign.

  12. “They say it’s a drug free and a gun free school, so why do they need guns?”

And Sheldon says, “Wait, that was sarcasm, right?”

  13. “They” say a lot of things, don’t they?
This comes as little surprise, but I blame the parents of the little princess Annastasia more than I blame her. These are the same kinda people who say “Sure pumpkin! go ahead and take senior trip to a foreign country! Why, it looks just like disneyland in this here brochure you brought me!” and then stand there in shock when their little girl doesn’t make it home. If you’re naive and out of your depth as a parent, then your kids will be too. And that makes excellent victims.

  14. These are the kind of kids our education system turns out, and we wonder why America is the laughingstock of the industrialized world.

  15. This would be a great question for Shannon Watts to ask her pim. . . I mean boss…

“If guns are bad and signs work, why do your goons carry guns? Why not declare everything gun free and be done with it?”

Unfortunately, it takes awhile for some to get out of “the life”.

    • And is there a “This is a Gun Free Zone” sign on the lawn in front of Shannon Watt’s hou…I mean MDA’s corporate headquarters?

  16. “They say it’s a drug free and a gun free school, so why do they need guns?”

Because every single one of the mass shootings on campuses has been at a “gun-free school.”

    • Sorry, but no it’s not. It’s failing at the job you THINK it has, but it is completing its mission as designed.

The institution of public is not and never has been about “education.” It is designed to habituate “institutionalization” as a way of life….please read John Taylor Gatto for more detail that is far more eloquent than I can provide. He’s done a TON of research on the topic.

The public education that most people think exists is, and always has been, a myth.

  17. Hey what about KNIFE free zones? BTW the post on the HS knife attack sure brought out a lot of trolls. Yeah she’s a dumb college twit. What else is new?

    • Im pretty sure that the max size of a blade length to carry is 5.5 inches in TX, but she could definitely be carrying a burnt orange pig sticker walking past those call boxes 🙂

  18. Does anybody really believe that the “drug free” policy actually makes the school drug free? If that policy doesn’t keep drugs out of the school, how stupid must a person be to believe that a “gun free” policy will prevent a shooting?

  19. as a former teacher with experience of being in a school building. there is nothing that will stop a shooter or a knife holding nut job other than a guard with a gun. they are there for our protection from the outside, not there to intimidate students or teachers.

  20. I must be the only one who read that and thought that Anastasia was making the point that the school administrators are lying hypocrites.

Of course I didn’t watch the video

  21. I have an idea, can we hang a sign under the drug/gun free sign that says “All students graduate with honors” does the simple act of hanging a sign make 100% of students graduate with honors? If so we have just found the answer to all our public education woes… hang a sign and make it so.

  22. A lot of what I learned in highschool about people, especially when chained together into large bureaucracies, was by negative example.

  23. Most college students would be better served learning a trade. For Ms. Wood, I would suggest that making sandwiches would be an intellectually challenging and rewarding occupation.

  24. There’s a guy in the comments of the actual article claiming the firearm is an M&P. ROFL,it’s clearly a SIG

  25. If the media can’t provide a news video of a mass student protest rally then the issue is probably not all that much of an issue to most students. Even many of those students currently opposed to the guns will probably not notice the armed guards a month from now.
