      • Censorship covers many things, for example a blog owner censoring comments below his articles. If you want to use my microphone, I have every right to censor what gets broadcast.

But censorship by the government, or the lack thereof, is one of the easiest ways to determine if we are living under liberty or tyranny.

      • Any person or organization can engage in censorship. You have Constitutional protection against censorship by the government (except for certain types of speech).

    • Typical liberal action: blaming someone else for a problem they created.

I just say, ‘Get over it, Cupcake– no one cares.’

    • The men murdering people in the street every night in my city are NOT white. Same for the rest of the country. Ironic that the Left are more concerned with movies, than the actual murders that are happening nightly.

    • Funny thing is, back around 1974 they said the same thing when Charles Bronson knocked it out if the park. BTW, the violence depicted in that home invasion scene was very scary at the time.

      • That home invasion scene is STILL very intense to this day. It makes my skin crawl to think about it. I’d be pleasantly surprised if Eli Roth can pull it off as effectively.

      • A day or so back, Ralph mentioned audiences cheered at the original ‘Deathwish’ when it played in NYC back then, but he didn’t think they would cheer this time.

Ralph, they will cheer. They love seeing vengeance meted out to those that deserve it.

Prepare to see the Leftists screech and scream with *outrage* at the audience reaction to this movie. They know they lost the culture war on guns, and there is nothing they can do about it but stamp their feet like petulant two year-olds.

And it will be sweet, sweet music to hear…

        • “Ralph, they will cheer.”

Maybe they’ll cheer in some places, but probably not in NYC (which is where I saw the original).

      • It’s a little late but the movie might have been more amusing if they had cast Mos Def as Kersey, mumbling just like he did in 16 blocks. Maybe even make him a transgender Muslim;-)

        • An anti-USA “‘male’ feminist” with Planned Parenthood (Organized Infanticide) t-shirt, Bernie hat with Anti-Fa/Anti-Ra buttons/patches and a pair of $300 Nike Air Jordans or Birkenstocks works for me

  1. I thought the “alt-right” was supposed to be happy Trump is in office?

(Not that one should expect expect consistency in logic from the ideology that says sexuality is fluid, you can’t turn gays straight, people can be born the wrong gender, gender is a social construct, and burning food solves famine)

  2. No, I don’t need encouragement. Needing encouragement would imply that motivation is otherwise hard to come by.

  3. Best may think that he is saying something about the film and the country. Really, he is making a statement about his own perceptions and mindset.

  4. Gee… I wonder if communist censorship will make those fictional “angry white men” more or less likely to start stringing up commies?

So… logic would dictate that either.

    1. Said “angry white men” exist and the author is a moron.
    Or
    2. Said “angry white men” are a convenient boogie man for racist lefties who know that they are perfectly safe despite mocking more than half the country.

  5. I just went and looked in a mirror. No foaming at the mouth, and the 71 year old lady who looked back at me hasn’t the energy to stay “enraged” these days. Plenty of provocation still around, of course, but I just can’t gin up the energy or desire to go around shooting even liberals. What a pisser.

As for the movies… they never inspired me to do anything but stay home and find something useful to occupy my time. 🙂

    • C’mon Momma, you’re not even half way through your journey, you got 50 more years before we start reciting any “do not go gentle” quotes.

      BUT DON’T GO GENTLE.

Let it be St. Peter who drags you off your last enemy, and let him be taxed doing so.

  6. The irony of Hollywood getting lambasted by their own. Fortunately they’re so morally bankrupt that they’ll continue to make politically incorrect movies because they know that if they only made “correct” ones no one would go see them. Only a very small percentage would see a trailer for a movie like Death Wish and call it racist and fascist.

  7. If a black guy was cast as the main actor – half would be praising the diversity and the other half would be calling the film racist. They cast a white guy, and magically it becomes Trump fascism. All this is because they see nothing but groups and races. The left as become a class culture, where all they see are tribes, and classification of different usually victimized or not victimized groups. They don’t see any individuals. They can only extract meaning out of everyday activities and events in accordance with the degree of victimization of whatever group they are perceiving.

    • That “black guy” was Denzel Washington in the new Equalizer film, I think last year. The movie was great. But I’ll always see Robert McCall as the true Equalizer from the TV series.
As I remember the left was not happy with a black vigilante.

      • The Equalizer came out in 2014, though it seems more recent to me as well. Time flies way too fast for my tastes. Great movie though.

  8. If we were half as deranged as they seem think we are…

Frankly, the first movie was pretty good but this trailer seems to imply that the protagonist didn’t need a land d veloper in Arizona to show him that sometimes the system fails and a citizen has to take matters of law and justice into his own hands.

    • “If we were half as deranged as they seem think we are…”

They would kill their own kids and then themselves because they wouldn’t like the way we could do it.

      Yes, B.S. flag thrown.

      • No, it’s still anti anti-gun, and marginally conservative. Little horn was just citing the fact that a POS (D) was groomed by Ohole to kill most if not all of the seated (R) Senators and Scalise in particular.

If you live in a blue state you MAY be part of the problem (more so in MN, MI, CA, OR, WA, ID, IL, IN, CT, PA, NJ, VA, just sayin). If you are a liberal, progressive, socialist, communist, globalist, have a [POS] (D) after your name, or are a rino, THE PROBLEM IS PART OF YOU, you are a scourge, and your mother owes us an abortion.

        • Welcome NateinPA,

May the LORD bless you and keep you (and yours). May the Lord make HIS face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you. May the LORD lift up HIS countenance upon you, and give you peace.

        • The top of the government is run like crap no matter who runs it at this point. Both at the state and federal level. Can’t have disparate factions with unlimited money, sole desire to please small interest groups, and unlimited ability to feed the masses propaganda. Lifelong NY “billionaire” scammer “won” this time. Some other scammer will win next time. Lifelong NY “billionaire” scammer puts forth policies that will gut shot “red” states and his victims cheer him on. Stupid. Just shoot yourself instead of voting next time.

        • Bud, we get it, your a liberal, we know, it bothers us too. Worse, you’re proud of it, that’s some deep imbued shizzay. I’d say fix your cr_p, but I’m a realist and you ain’t Harry Potter.

      • Government is a necessary thing for any country. Building roads, coordinating military action against invaders, any number of things.

All of that said, it needs to have the strictest standards put in place because the potential for corruption and the damage that corruption can cause is higher automatically anytime a person or group of people have authority over another. I don’t think Trump is perfect. I’d damn sure rather have him than Hillary.

If that makes me pro government, then that’s a burden I’ll just have to bear.

As for gut shotting red states that voted for him…. there may come a crash that will indeed hurt those states. Until that happens, the economy is actually doing rather well right now. Consumer confidence is high, unemployment is low, I could list off a half dozen more stats better today than they have been in over 8 years.

  9. They keep using that word, ‘fascist’. I don’t think it means what they think it means.

    • They’ve destroyed any meaningful definition of the word by throwing it at any and every little thing that offends their leftist feelios.

    • They have no clue what it means.

And that would be funny, if not for the fact that an entire generation of children in our public schools are being indoctrinated to think the definition of fascist is “white guy who wants to take away my EBT card.”

    • The 14 characteristics are:

      Powerful and Continuing Nationalism
Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights
Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of “need.” The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause
The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

      Supremacy of the Military
Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

      Rampant Sexism
The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy.

      Controlled Mass Media
Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

      Obsession with National Security
Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

      Religion and Government are Intertwined
Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government’s policies or actions.

      Corporate Power is Protected
The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

      Labor Power is Suppressed
Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed .

Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts
Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.

      Obsession with Crime and Punishment
Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

      Rampant Cronyism and Corruption
Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

      Fraudulent Elections
Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

        • Comments that long are usually schizophrenic in nature and loaded with capitalization. That’s why I rarely read them. In this case it was long because it was a copied and pasted from another website.

      • I did and appreciate the education it provided. Often times the comments are the best part of TTAG. I gain a lot of insight from them.

        • Bud1 copied it word for word from Dr. Lawrence Britt. It’s been around more than 14 years.

      • Bub1 oops that is BUD1 or is it dumb? Wow you sound just like the “cisco” dick. I mean kid. At any rate I could swear you’re talking about the Obama family. I mean all the points you make describes them to a tee. Remember he created ISIS a fanatical religious group that i’m sure you are a member of. I mean what better way to take down a government? But then if that happens what trailer park will have you? Something to think about, eh?

  10. People do realize this movie was made over a year ago and it takes time to Post Produce (Edit) and get it to the theaters right? This wasn’t just made last week to appease alt-righters.

    • Yes, yes we do, and most assuredly the critic does also. He, I assume, is suggesting that after spending millions of dollars to produce this movie, the industry should have suppressed it. Because it would be the “right” thing to do….Oh wait, that would be the “left” thing to do, right? It doesn’t matter that the industry has been making bank off of films like this.

    • . . .in case some orange haired POS (D) born and bred POS (D) comes thru the back door with an AR with a double drum mag.

  11. My only problem with this film is that, though Willis has made quite a few good movies over the years, he isn’t half the actor that Bronson was.

    • Bronson’s not acting, I don’t even think he used blanks, they just had a lot of non-union extras that nobody was going to miss.

      • I get your joke, but Bronson made it clear that he was just playing a character that he had little sympathy for one he started shooting.

        • Well, then gird your loins, don’t get that liberal (D) sh_t on you. John Wayne is dead. If they got to Eastwood, Bronson, Schwarzenegger, most of the cast of The Expendables. . .then we only have Chuck Norris to save us until JESUS comes back.

  12. Based on the trailer it teaches that his wife and daughter should have had training to be safe at least at home. Relying on Bruce/dad/husband is not effective.

Which means had they dropped one, which seems to happen often, then the cops would have the lead on 2+ perps and we are all safer.

Bruce coulda hugged his fam, cracked a cold one, reupped the spent ammo, and scheduled more range time. I mean family time. 🙂

    • The trailer’s implication is that he wouldn’t have been able to do anything if he was there, being a condition-white Chicago non-gun person whose woke moment is the tragic attack on his family while he wasn’t there.

      • The family, as in the first film, was living in a world where this kind of violence just doesn’t happen, so they didn’t see any need to defend against it.
When he had his wake up call (not just the attack, but the inability of the local government to do much about it) is when he went rogue.
So, yeah, you got it right.

  13. “angry white men foaming at the mouth with rage”. Is the author condemning the anti-fa movement? There the only ones I see foaming at the mouth with rage and violence i.e. Portland Sunday.

    • + ^

There have been few Conservative riots in the history of this planet. One created this country. Don’t know when we might see another (yawn) but it’ll be spectacular, I guaran-FING-tee it. And it’ll be war answered, not warred-upon.

  14. As a black teenager I snuck into the theater to see the R rated Charles Bronson Death Wish movie.
I loved it. The part where a white woman asks if it’s ok to “increase the numbers of white muggers to have a racial balance of criminals” was just delicious.

The original film was very politically incorrect. Perhaps the Philippine president learned from this 1974 film when he said it’s ok to kill drug dealers.

I look forward to hearing the three L’s, Libertarians, Liberals and the Left complaining about a fictional street justice movie.

    Long live Bernie Geotz!!!!

    • You are correct to include the Libertarian Party with the other two since it has abandoned libertarian principles.

    • “I look forward to hearing the three L’s, Libertarians, Liberals and the Left complaining about a fictional street justice movie.”

      Yes, they most certainly will.

Watch their *outrage* at the audience reaction…

    • Just because the Libertarian ticket had a bad vice presidential nominee doesn’t mean libertarians have forsaken the right to self defense anymore than the conservatives did because they elected Reagan. If you are going to judge a political movement by one bad actor in the associated party, conservatives are in deep weeds.

      • Action physical man
Until the libertarians take a long good look in the mirror, they will never go beyond being seen as “the pot head party”.

In Massachusetts the proud lesbian attorney General, Maura Healey, is using the state level assualt weapons ban signed into law by the libertarian vice-presidential candidate William Weld, when he was governor in the early 1990’s, to expand gun control in the state.

Just as the national socialists in Germany used the previous governments laws to confiscate guns, so now the new government in Massachusetts is using Welds old law to expand unconstitutional violations of civil-rights.

No libertarian has ever addressed this legislative historical fact. But they keep bringing up the Mulford Act, Reagan signed over 40 years ago.
Reagan is dead. I hold accountable the people in charge today. Its 2017 not 1967.

Elected open homosexuals and current libertarians are the people standing in the way of Liberty now.
I don’t care if you “want to put things into your bodies”.
The problem is libertarians don’t believe in facing the consequences without “free stuff” from the government, or demanding the public accept the private activity of strangers.

        • Weld is signed that law as a Republican 24 years ago. He hasn’t advocated any such things since his “conversion” to Libertarian. Libertarians pundit bring up the use of gun control by tyrannical regimes more than Republican ones do. They have been against control more consistently and longer than the Republicans. As for libertarians being in the way liberty, it is about the most demonstrably false thing I have ever said in sincerity in the comment section here. Republicans all of which are in control of both houses and the presidency but they haven’t enacted on piece of pro 2A legislation in 200 days. In fact they haven’t really done anything at all. There are no libertarians standing in the way (Murkowski, Collins, and McCain are not Libertarians BTW), there are none there to do so even if they wanted to. The Republicans don’t even have an ideology – just a loosely held collection positions adopted to get them elected. Libertarians will likely never have open adherents in office because they don’t pander to morons like Obama, Trump, et al did and do.

        • I shouldn’t have tried to write that as I was in a hurry to leave the house. It is almost unreadable. I apologize for that.

      • Action Physical man
If you don’t trust Donald Trump because of what he said in the past, why do you trust William Weld even after what HE DID in the past???
Has Weld said he was wrong to sign a gun control bill???
Has he said the current AG in Massachusetts is wrong???
Has he said the AWB in his state should be repealed???
And has any libertarian member of the press asked him these questions??? Or do they cover for him???

  15. Gee it’s just a Bruce Willis movie. Another in a long line of hack performances. Nothing more or less…

    • IMO – He was pretty good in ‘Tears of the Sun’ (I thought their military advisor did a great job making the actors seem like operators but there was a LOT of whiney-ass liberal pearl clutching that nearly toppled it), I liked “The Fifth Element”, and he was convincing in “12 Monkeys”. The original Die Hard was fun to watch.

    • I dunno maybe I liked his manic David Addison in Moonlighting. Or maybe it was just some of the awesomeness coming off Curtis Armstrong.

      • Yes. RED2 anh ~ good but different.

Really liked John Malkovich as Marvin Boggs in RED / RED2 more than most things he’s been in.

    • Ridiculous dying but great that they nearly all needed follow up shots to finish them. Like how cover was only concealment from ricochets and shattered concrete and Bronson didn’t always make cover looking ballerina smooth.

  16. Somebody should make a movie in which a disgruntled actor who is tired of having his career trashed by a bunch of twits goes around shooting left wing, beta male, crybaby movie critics. That’s a movie I would pay to see.

  17. “In a country where Trump has angry white men foaming at the mouth with rage..” The only rage foaming I see is from Progressive weanies like the author, and they don’t have guns because they believe real men don’t need them. So what exactly is the problem again? Now, if somebody made a movie about angry white beta males taking to the streets wearing pussy hats and carrying signs with inane slogans, we might see some kind of mass movement as a result.

  18. Meh.

All I think when I see the trailer is, “Yay, yet another remake/reboot.” God forbid anyone in the entertainment industry have an original idea. Soon, film will be reduced entirely to reboots and massive franchises.

That’s what I find most depressing about all this.

    • “All I think when I see the trailer is, “Yay, yet another remake/reboot.””

The 1983 remake of the 1932 film ‘Scarface’ shoots that theory down in flames.

“Say ‘ello, to my ‘lil friend…”

  19. What’s making white men angry is the neo Marxist lefts constant attack on them, their families, their culture, their country and their religion.

The left doesn’t want white men to have anything to be proud of including being part of the greatest civilization and nation in human history. Which they built.

Backlash is inevitable. And I welcome it.

That said this is a fucking movie and a remake at that. Besides who doesn’t like watching a good guy smoke scumbags?

  20. So, the Right is foaming at the mouth because of Trump? That is a bunch of hogwash, totally fake news. The folks on the Right tend to be more polite than the average person. When they assemble, the do so peacefully and then clean up before they leave.

The Left on the other hand is the side of the angry mobs. When they gather violence follows. They shout down anyone with a different opinion. They threaten those who would speak against their ideas.

Nope, the Left is the group that is foaming at the mouth.

  21. I’m not sure why this trailer has them so disturbed. Maybe the trailer is misleading (they often are) about the tone of the film, but it looks like a pretty standard modern action or revenge flick, too tongue-in-cheek (again, at least the trailer) to be taken all that seriously. The original was most definitely not in that vein. Dirty Harry was famously (infamously?) labeled “fascist” by Pauline Kael and cause quite a bit of upset among the left of the day for its perceived casual dismissal of the rights of the accused (which criticism entirely missed the point and demonstrated the left’s fanatical outrage over the supposed violation of a criminal that was guilty to a metaphysical certainty–Dirty Harry was not a “whodunit?”). Both films share a tone and were products of their time. Imagine a Dirty Harry remake today. What would separate it from countless “rogue cop” films made since? There’s something to be said for being the first, or being the first to do it in a unique way.

  22. Yeah, I don’t think the reviewer really knows what they’re talking about. Also even though it’s a remake generally speaking I like Bruce Willis’ movies so I’ll probably give this one a shot, especially since I’ve never seen the original. I’ll catch the Bronson version after seeing the new one, that way it’s fresh. Usually I’ll see the original first then am underwhelmed at the remake, maybe it will seem better that way.

I’ve got to say that while the whole vigilante cleaning up the streets is a well used trope I don’t think it will be dying anytime soon. It still offers the escapism that many people crave especially since there are crime ridden places that the police and government can’t or won’t take care of. Seriously is it even possibly to not root for the brothers in Boondock Saints or the title character in Harry Brown?

  23. Hmm…Just think of the outrage if they remake Bronson’s “10 to Midnight.”

BTW, not holding out high hopes for the new DW flick. Not an Eli Roth guy at all.

  24. Of course we don’t need white men, foaming at the mouth, pouring out into the streets with guns…….these people have managed to encourage Black -Americans to do this…….by lying to them, encouraging bad decisions, and negating positive values that are rightfully theirs……..thank you ruling class, job well done…………………. 🙁

  25. Anyone noticed some 100 million angry white people taking to the street with firearms? (Not sure how accurate the numbers are).

  26. “In a country where Trump has angry white men foaming at the mouth with rage, do they need encouragement to take to the streets with guns?”

You know, I wasn’t thinkin’ about shootin’ anyone today. But, now that you mention it, that trailer makes my white rage flare up. It makes me wanna gonna grab my Glock, put on my MAGA hat, slam a bottle a of Boone’s Farm, and commence to shootin’ folks… maybe, I’ll get lucky and run across a colored boy who need shootin’. Or even better, a Mexican. Or even better-er, a colored Mexican.

Do they make colored Mexicans? If they do, they shouldn’t; probably why the needs shootin’.

  27. What a bunch of nonsense. The original “Death Wish” was still pretty PC—–c’mon, JEFF GOLDBLUM was one of the gang members who murdered Kersey’s wife and raped his daughter. Yep, that happens. We all know about the multiracial rape murder gangs with nebbishy Jewish members. “Death Wish II”, in all it’s overdone rape sceneness, still portrayed a multiracial rape and murder gang—-complete with a young Laurence Fishburne in 1980s punk rock glasses—-but the filmmakers made sure to cast the gang members as a weird combination of black soul brother types and punked out 80s guys.

This movie, made by Eli Roth(the son of a Harvard psychiatry professor father and an artist mother), has removed all pretense of any sort of reality. The majority of criminals I saw Bruce Willis killing—IN CHICAGO—were white guys. White guys broke into his home, murdered his wife and killed his daughter—IN CHICAGO. You know, Chicago—the city which has racked up over 400 murders this year, the staggering majority of which were committed by blacks. But it would not be appropriate for Eli Roth to have a white guy killing a bunch of black people, so we are supposed to believe there are white violent criminals running around Chicago. Nonsense. Why the Left is upset about this movie is beyond me.

The last vigilante movie which was somewhat realistic was the woefully unknown “The Brave One”,starring Jodie Foster. If you haven’t seen it, you should. The subway scene would NEVER be made today.

If “Death Wish” was to be realistically made, it would be Bruce Willis killing Draco-wielding blacks in Chicago, because statistics indicate that demographic is the most likely to have victimized someone.

  28. You’ll all be much safer when people like the mayor of Oakland hide rapists, child abusers and murderers because they vote Democrat. Death wish was a great movie. Surprised it made it through Hollywood.
