From adelaidenow.com.au‘s post ‘Panic room’ foils eastern suburbs home raid:

The woman . . . had only just gone to bed around 9.30pm when two men used iron bars to smash through the front door. Her husband, who was away on a fishing trip, said his wife [retreated to the master bedroom] and managed to activate the bedroom’s deadlock before the men started bashing on the [bedroom] door. “They were seriously trying to knock down the door. It’s the only inside door with a deadlock and if it didn’t (have one) she might not be here today,” he said. “My wife rang 000 and when police arrived the robbers took off.” The men sped off in a Holden Statesman allegedly stolen from the house, but were spotted by police driving through Fullarton without the headlights on.

  1. Posting replies to “what would you do” scenarios on the internet is an invitation for them to be used against you later. That being said, under the same circumstances I would hope to be able to do exactly what she did. 🙂

  2. Sorry bud. I try to contribute here to the best of my ability. I wasn’t insinuating anything about your own ethics or motives. I wouldn’t read or post here if I thought you were other than well intentioned. In these days of tech savvy it doesn’t take Julian Assange to track down a suspect’s internet posts from their hard drive. In other words, I’m not SAYIN’, I’m just sayin’.

  3. What would this poor woman have done if they had broken down the door? If she had any type of firearm then her chances would have been much better if they had gotten in the room. Lucky for her that the cowards ran or she would be another statistic on the police blotter. (PS my lil snubnose S&W 500 would have shown those fools the light because just the sound of this baby exploding with a three foot fireball would have scared them to death.)
