As you might expect, the notoriously anti-gun New York Daily News is in high dudgeon today following the San Bernardino massacre of 14 people by Farook and Tashfeen Malik. But rather than pin the shooting on the criminals (at least two of whose firearms were purchased legally under California’s famously restrictive gun control laws), the News is taking aim at…prayer. By way of shifting the responsibility . . .

onto Republicans and, sotto voce, the NRA, for their failure to enact more restrictive and unconstitutional gun control laws, the News has chosen to slam GOP politicians for offering “meaningless platitudes” instead of iron-fisted legislation. Never mind that Democrats held the presidency and both houses of Congress (with 60 Senate seats) for more than two years following President Obama’s first inaugural.

No, it’s much more satisfying — not to mention politically expedient — to put the blame on your ideological opponents, especially in the run-up to an election in which your party’s likely presidential candidate is, um, less than ideal. So spare us your thoughts and prayers, the News says. God has nothing to do with this. Are they right?

  1. Weird. They didn’t seem to complain about prayers to France.

Then again, I find it hard to take them seriously when they accuse me of being a terrorist solely because I support the NRA.

    • Unfortunately, not taking Bolsheviks seriously won’t stop them from dragging you out of your home and putting a bullet in the back of your head. They were funny to me 15 years ago. I’m, not laughing now.

      • Bolsheviks is the right term. This is straight out of the Marxist-Leninist playbook.

(Lived in the former USSR, and stayed at Holiday Inn Express)

    • It doesn’t take too much thought to see the difference. The politicians here weren’t in a position to do anything one way or another about France. They are in a position to do stuff here. What is appropriate? I don’t really know, but that’s the difference.

    • They’re not complaining about prayers. They’re complaining that, apart from the prayers, there hasn’t been anything else.

      • What else is there supposed to be? Oh, right..using the tragedy for political gain! How awful of the Republicans to not do that, but offer love and compassion instead.
        Animals.

  2. One might just as easily suggest that those that work against our right to keep and bear arms are helping to create an environment conducive to such criminal/terrorist acts. And it would make more sense, logically speaking.

  3. I feel a little sick seeing this headline. Also heartsick at the idiots out there that will read this and believe it.

    • Yeah… soul-sick. Seeing tens of thousands of well-intentioned people being wildly misled by a bunch of tanrtuming children with keyboards.. it makes me hurt deep down inside.

I value unity, truth, and the protection of the innocent. This kind of screed does the opposite of all three.

  4. This is a great example of how gun-grabbers will attack our supporters no matter what we say.

If we immediately talk about the political implications of a mass murder event, gun-grabbers say that we are cold, heartless bastards who don’t care about the victims and their families. If we immediately say words of empathy to comfort the victims and their families, we are scumbags who are not doing something to “stop the carnage”.

    • By the way has anyone noticed the common theme? Gun-grabbers hate us and try to demonize us regardless of what we say or do — or do not say or do not do. And it is their only play because they have no facts to support their position. Unfortunately, they have garnered support from a lot of people who could not, in good conscience, support “cold, heartless bastards” whether or not they are right or wrong.

        • Very true–and at Michael in GA: they won’t get directly involved. Always find someone else (the State) to do it for them. But yes, our arms keep them in check.

        • Yes to this and the other responses above. If someone wants to disarm you, they either plan to kill you or plan to do something that will make you want to kill them.

      • Hate is actually easier to control than love. Stoke the fires, throw some rhetoric, point and denounce THE OTHER, and all blame magically shifts.

Love? (not sex) Quiet hugs in pairs/small groups. Generally not 10,000+ people rallies

  5. Make believe deities from the Bronze Age have nothing to do with any of this. People who believe in this mumbo jumbo certainly do.

        • You get to be as arrogant as you want to be as long as you can conclusively prove that their is no God. Go ahead. And if you can’t conclusively prove your atheism, than you are just plain arrogant.

        • Accur81: “You get to be as arrogant as you want to be as long as you can conclusively prove that their is no God.”

Sorry dude, the onus is on YOU to prove that there is.

Accur81: And if you can’t conclusively prove your atheism, than [sic] you are just plain arrogant.

Any you’re not? Atheism is not a disbelief in gods or a denial of gods; it is a lack of belief in gods.

You chose to believe. Crispy doesn’t. He doesn’t need to prove anything. You do, or you’re being arrogant. Sorry, but that’s your choice.

        • GOD! Strike me dead! I’m still here. Conclusively proven, god does not exist, next question. Unless you’d like to prove conclusively that it does exist. And the fact that it is impossible to prove a negative does not escape me, and did not escape your trainers, either.

        • No, the onus is not upon me. I’m not forcing anyone to choose my religion, that’s more of an extreme Islamic thing. You have a right to choose. Further, none of us have the ability to chose that God exists or does not exist. I believe in a God who is intellectually superior to myself, and certainly smarter than the weak logic you have put forth so far.

I believe that our bodies and minds, which are more complex than anything manufactured by the finest engineers in the world, were Intelligently Designed. My stepfather is a distinguished anatomy professor at a prominent medical college and hold similar belief. Steve Jobs and John Moses Browning couldn’t create a human mind. If you want to believe that all the beauty and artistry of creation came about by chance and geologic time, I can appreciate those theories. Neither macro evolution nor Intelligent Design are subject to the scientific method. The creation of life can’t be whipped up in a lab.

We all have faith in the creation of the world and in what happens after we die if we’ve taken time to ponder infinity and the nature of the vast universe we live in. I just don’t appreciate my faith being dismissed as children’s stories when any of you lack the ability to disprove my personal choice to place my faith in Jesus for salvation and I’m carrying a Glock 23 as my “sword.”

My, you atheists get testy when challenged. Maybe atheism is depressing. I find my faith encouraging and thank God for things like beautiful forests and epic sunsets when I’m chasing deer through the woods.

        • “Steve Jobs and John Moses Browning couldn’t create a human mind.”

Give it another couple hundred years, though, and I’ll bet we have machines that are functionally indistinguishable from a human mind. John Moses Browning couldn’t create a telecommunications satellite, either, but those are common today.

That won’t prove or disprove the existence of God, of course, since that’s impossible to do either way. But it will force us to rethink words like “life” and “sentient”.

        • Except empirical data, science, facts, a fossil record, with evolutionary transitional forms, and the fact we can hear echoes of the big bang point towards the lack of a God, or at the very least a nonliteral interpretation of the bible. You can then look at the historical inaccuracy of the bible and how it’s writer was not omnipotent, and was clearly not speaking to omnipotent. This is most evident in the story of Noah’s Ark, and of course the timeline for Exodus.

Radiometric dating is another factor that proves the world is much older than 6000 years. You (and I) may not understand the human mind and how it truly works, but using gaps in knowledge does prove a God.

I ask you, how can you believe that man was made from dust, woman from a rib bone, and both were tricked by a talking snake, but believe that evolution is a fantasy. I challenge you to explain to me how penguins survived a journey from the Antarctica to the middle east to survive the flood.

        • Who… freaking… cares. I would 1000x have someone pray, or send good thoughts, or meditate or sing kumbaya than the almost assured alternative reaction of wanting stricter gun laws.

This reminds me of when someone asked Napoleon why he was sharing power by rescinding the Civil Constitution of the Clergy and letting the Catholic Church back into France. He said (and I’m paraphrasing here) “poor people will not allow rich people to exist if they don’t believe it’ll be right in heaven”.

Leftists tend to love to quote that, and I as a Libertarian also do because it’s true. People, with some exceptions (like my rare atheist libertarian friends), will either turn to God (imaginary or not) or they will turn to the state. You can see this in who is calling for gun control literally right now. Hint; it ain’t the evangies.

        • In fairness, Steve Jobs didn’t create much of anything except for an overwhelming desire within his customers to purchase his products.

    • Remember the last time I mocked your beliefs because I didn’t share them?
Oh that’s right, most rational adults don’t do that to each other.

        • Really? Can you prove my religion isn’t rational? That’s a pretty trite statement to make to people you don’t even know.

        • Religion is based on translated and retranslated children’s stories from thousands of years ago. Pretending they have anything to do with reality, completely without proof for thousands of years, much less a video or 2 from last week, is totally irrational, without question. You are free to believe what you want, but if the country had any sense, beating that crap into children less than 18 years old would be punished as child abuse.

        • Larry from Texas has spoken. Now be silent because he said so! Atheists are their own worst enemies, people might actually listen to them if they used a little courtesy. In their intolerance of other people’s positions it actually reminds me of the Muslims position. They are so sure they are correct that they do not actually want to take the time to debate a knowledgeable, educated person with a different perspective. Personally I think most of them our afraid of that debate because it might challenge the uncertainty in their hearts that makes them cry out “I am an Atheist, now listen to me. No, for most Atheists, it is much safe to stick to slogans, and memes, spout a couple phrases, feel good about yourself knocking those dupes who are Christians and then retreating quickly to safety, because I believe that in their heart of hearts they are afraid that Truth just might capture them.

        • Atheists will debate a Christian, it’s happened plenty of times. For example I point you toward Ham debating Nye. Nye used logical, scientific evidence, with data to back him, and Ham used appeals to authority and his lack of understanding on evolution, and the Big Bang to say “we can’t explain it, much be a god.”

    • Well, athiests like Stalin, Mao and Pol-pot diidn’t need some “bronze age diety” to lead enough “useful idiots” to slaughter hundreds of millions of people in the last hundred years. After all, religion is the “opiate of the masses”.

Which is really the point. It is the Spawn of Communism, ie Progressives/statists in government that are using the bronze age diety worshiping barbarians to give them the excuse to attack our freedoms and civil liberties.

So have me die in a re- eduction camp as the progressives would prefer or die by having my head chopped off by a devout Muslim, or stand on my feet and just say no to both, with a gun, if need be.

Life is about choices. And like they say, freedom isn’t free.

      • Stalin didn’t behave like a thug because he was an atheist, he behaved like that, because your fake god made him that way.

        • Your funny. Stalin didn’t believe in “children’s stories”. He was too “advanced” for such myths.

Stalin was just using whatever “myths” to rally the “useful idiots” to give him the power to massacre alot of people. In this case, it’s the myth that there is no god.

Those in power will use whatever beliefs is convenient to rally the useful idiots. In the past, it was christianity, today, it’s the athiests and the many that worship the state as their god.

      • The difference is that Stalin didn’t kill in the name of atheism, he did it in the name of statism. There are oceans worth of blood spilled because religious belief, from the first time tribe A believed a different star was God than tribe B.

        • Those “oceans” you talk about our pitiful compared to the atheist statists, Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot, Mussolini. What did the crusaders kill? 50,000? The above named killed well over 100,000,000.
As Dostoevsky stated “without God anything goes.” Washington stated America wouldn’t stand if it was not a Christian nation. If you like your guns, you are sure going to need them as soon as the Christian moral heart of this nation stops beating. Already signs of heavy blockage in the arteries. Good luck with that utopian atheistic future, we have seen it and it is called Orwell”s 1984.

        • “There are oceans worth of blood spilled because religious belief”

Technically not true. Religion is inanimate, like guns are. Saying religions killed anyone is exactly the same as saying guns killed people.

Religious and non religious people kill other people. Secular governments of the 20th Century killed more people than any previous centuries of recorded history, combined. It’s empirically provable that religious governments are no more violent than non religious, even if that wrecks your narrative.

    • Bronze Age in the Middle East is supposed to be 3300 – 1200 BCE. That’s before the creation of Islam. Late Iron Age, early Historical Age maybe. Although the way some of these Islamic Jihadists act, they seem to come from the Stone Age.

  6. Of course HE can-and will-fix it. You won’t like the results. Even so come LORD JESUS. BTW jihad jafar and jill sure were tooled up for a mere “workplace violence ” incident.

    • Of coarse the question isn’t CAN HE , but WILL HE.
I wish only more people didn’t need to ask it or more people were willing to acknowledge that His help comes through request and the willingness of the requester(s) to put Him first above everything else and acknowledge His position of top of the Totem pole .
A quite simple proposition only a century ago . Before supermarkets , before weatherman , before search engines , and before absolute reliance on government for sustenance .
So sad to me that humanity has progressed to the stage of Babylon where we have built our tower into the heavens so we would not need God anymore .
Works out alright before SHTF and then we cry OH LORD , HELP ME .

      • You are correct, back in the days of massive ignorance, there was some excuse for believing such silliness. Now that we know, OTOH, that the universe is over 20 billion years old, not 6000, it gets more and more obvious that the revered “holey” books are 100% fiction.

        • As a baptized christian, I personally agree that the universe is billions of years old. It is obvious from the bible that there was cities and towns of human beings before Adam and, Eve. It’s just imperfect human beings that have a difficult time seeing the “obviousness of the truth”.

And, Quantum physics has proven the truths of how the universe actually works that the prophets and the Christ were speaking of thousands of years ago.

So, no, the HOLY books are just as true today, as they were when first written. It’s just the imperfectness of human beings that they can’t accept the “obviousness of the truth”.,

        • Back in the days of massive ignorance , when your granddaddy or maybe great granddaddy was thinkin you would be smarter than you turned out to be .

        • @Thomas

Well said. Many folks don’t seem to understand that the opening chapters of Genesis are written in poetic language, as are many other parts of the Bible. And they want to call dismiss historical accounts of real people who actually existed as “fairy tales.”

Ah well, at least we can agree on the math and science found in ballistics.

        • Larry you are about 6 billion years off in your age of the universe.
As an aside, it’s pretty hard to take someone seriously, and to treat them with respect, when they mock your basic beliefs. For example, I think atheism is just childish, and generally a sign of immature philosophical discovery. But I don’t mock people for it.

        • JW you may believe that atheism is a sign of immature philosophical discovery, but believe in creationism is certainly the sign of absolutely zero scientific understanding.

        • @Larry, the best figure for the age of the universe is 13.8 billion years (Well, 13.799 +/- 21 million years.), not 20. Still, a very, very far cry from 6000 years…the ratio is over two million to one. It’d be like measuring the width of the US and getting an answer of something like seven feet.

  7. I see very little difference in the efficacy of prayer and the efficacy of the “we know it won’t work but we’ve go to do SOMETHING!” automatons who clamor for more government whatever the stated purpose.

They all know Santa isn’t real but they keep on keepin’ on anyway. I wouldn’t mind it if they only affected their little bubbles of life but they insist on affecting my bubble as well.

    • “I see very little difference in the efficacy of prayer and the efficacy of the “we know it won’t work but we’ve go to do SOMETHING!” “

If I may try to explain the difference, it lies in the true nature of prayer vs the pop culture assumptions about what prayer is.

Prayer is a meditative submission of ‘self’ … introspection and seeking learning, understanding and wisdom. It is trying to discern truth where circumstances muddle our ability to see clearly. It is “letting go” of the easy answers.

Prayer is not delivery of a “Wish List of Selfish Wants.” It is not “do this” and “can I have that.”

      • I think we’re more concerned about the differences between Jesus and Muhammad. One was just and merciful, the embodiment of love. The other was a warlord and rapist.

        • @Larry

Crack a book and find out for yourself. Seriously all these childish taunts against Christianity and faith don’t make you much of an ambassador for atheism. It is possible to approach differences of faith with tact if you give it an effort.

      • Umm, no Tom. Not the G-d of the Christians, but the god of the old testament. Muslims deny that the Christ rose or was special in any way beyond that of being just another prophet of Yaweh.

Muhammad is practicing old testament mass slaughter, but instead of keeping it to the Tribes inhabiting the promised land as the Jews did, Muhammad, and all of his descendants are practicing mass slaughter of all infidels around the world that refuse to submit or be converted.

The Christ was the fulfillment of what Moses and the Jews began. Muhammad was the perversion of and a rebellion against the promise of forgiveness and redemption of Mankind through the death and resurrection of the Christ.

        • ThomasR,

Remind me to look you up and buy you your favorite beverage the next time I am in New Mexico.

        • All the “diety” I mentioned are merely demons. LIke Old Scratch himself. And muhammed was an illiterate war lord. He didn’t “write” anything. Similar to Joseph Smith( a”revelation” from hell)…and early Christians thought(to their peril) that the budding moe-hammedons were merely another branch of apostate Christianity. Like Arianism or dualism or Gnosticism…

      • Moon/storm god Tom-think Ashtoreth,Baal,Milcom or Astarte. Even got the moon god on the muslim “flag”. They worship a demon…

        • Perhaps F.W.W. But I’ve read the Koran, twice, and every reference that Muhammad makes, other than his own “revelations”, is mostly from the Torah and some references to denouncing Jesus as the Christ.

He clearly says his spiritual roots is based on Adam and Eve, of Noah and the “sons of Abraham”, The people of the book.

But go beyond “demon”. I believe it was fed to Muhammad by Satan himself.

    • Everybody here knows god told you no such thing, but half don’t understand why they know that, ie that god does not exist.

    • Now I know why you call yourself Chrispy , Dude .
Keep toking the bong bro and you’ll be voting for Trump on the independent ticket and Hillary will end up with your gun , your ammo and your freedom .
      Sad .
Please consider Cruz , Please .

        • Fugue ,
You are vilified . I stand corrected and although I really did not intend on insulting , I reread my comment and saw your point .
          My apologies to Chrispy .
I just get a little worked up over Trump because I see him only as an impediment to the sensible , patriot , good hearted Americans from ever regaining control of our country and maybe reversing the coarse of world history and the irony that a self centered ego manic getting enough votes to get a Clinton reelected again is disheartening to say the very least .
I will continue to try and be more gentle and thoughtful in my comments .
          Thanks for the clarity .

  8. Every time a Daily News link is clicked, the staff of the Daily News eat a baby.

Think of the children before you click on their links.

    • ^^^This. Hilarious, but in all seriousness, every click raises their standing, and makes their ad space more valuable.
Every click on a Statist site puts money in their pocket. Think before you click.

  9. Terrorist hit in Europe and it’s stepped up Bombing,Spec ops, we gotta get them sum bitches…. Terrorist hit in the US and it’s the fault of the Gun rights groups,Conservatives, Tea party, evil NRA, Magpul..

  10. So many empty words full of ignorance and venom.
God DID ‘fix this’, ~2,000 years ago when Jesus Christ lived a perfect life and died an innocent, sacrificial death on the cross, opening up Heaven for ALL who believe (cf. John 3:16)
Until He (Jesus aka God) comes back in Wrath, we (the ‘church’, the ‘elect’, the ‘saved’) are to fight the spiritual battle that is behind the scenes through prayer and supplication. The Devil may be the Earth’s current ‘lessee’ but that contract has been canceled. Finito. So get down on your knees and pray your heart out. It’s a little thing He asks of us, and as much as it is up to us to live peaceably with ALL men (cf Romans 12:18), and when it is not possible we protect our own with the force of law, including the 2nd Amendment.

God Bless you all at TTAG and a special prayer for the person behind “rammerjammer” above, that his ignorance be profoundly overturned by the Love of Christ and not perpetuated by the lies of Satan.

  11. The Daily Snooze is losing money and has been auctioned in the owner’s (Mort Zuckerman) hope of getting back at least part of his investment. The highest published bid last time was $1.00. Yeah, that’s not a typo.

The bidder would have overpaid at that.

Funny thing, but when I was a yoot in NYC, the NY Post was as red as Joe Stalin, and the News was somewhat right wing.

  12. I’m guessing that if any of the firearms actually were purchased legally, it will turn out to be the handguns.

  13. I’ve said here before, and I’ll say it again; it’s the Lord’s job to save your soul, it’s your job to save your a$$.

    • We are called to be the best STEWARDS of all things entrusted to us – this most certainly includes using sudden and decisive violence to protect the innocents in our world from the physical forces of evil.
DO JUSTICE. Love mercy. Walk humbly before your God. (Micah 6:8)

  14. If the “God” that deviant pissant Moooohamad (yes I spit on your soothsayer) invented 1200years ago existed perhaps he COULD fix “THIS”.

What is “THIS”? Institutionalized pederasty, pedofilia, beastiality, female mutilation, lying cheating murder and mayhem? And stupid libtard new media.

  15. God won’t fix it, but I think Glock or Benelli or Sig can. We just need to be able to carry them with us or in our car.

    • Don’t be ridiculous. You can’t “help yourself” otherwise “self-help” books would not need to be written or read.
God helps those who CAN’T help themselves.

    • Then thank you, God, for your bountiful gift of terrorism. I feel much better knowing that You are watching over the slaughter of my countrymen at the hands of idiots radicalized by another faith, a faith equally likely by any reasonable metric to be correct and true. Spare me your patronizing bulls!*t. I don’t know for sure that there isn’t a god, but I’m pretty sure that if there is one up there, it’s a f#@king heartless monster. Spin this however you want into one of His lessons. You’re just as deluded as the terrorists, just along a different axis and to a different extent.

      • Pseudo,

I imagine Chris Kirkpatrics means well even though he did a really poor job explaining.

I can tell with absolute certainty and clarity that it is NOT God’s will for people to run around murdering other people. This isn’t God’s fault. The people who commit murder are at fault.

Of course the common follow up question is, “Then why does God allow someone to murder another person?” Fair question. In a nutshell: God placed mankind in a situation without murder. Unfortunately, mankind destroyed that situation with our abhorrent actions and attitudes and the result is our world that we see around us.

God is loving and gracious enough to give us free will. It isn’t His fault when someone abuses that free will … especially when we have told God with our actions and attitudes to “leave us alone”.

        • The problem with free will as a theodicy is God could very easily created humans with no desire or capacity for evil, since he’s an omnipotent, omniscient, omnibenevolent entity. Such beings, while freely exercising their free will, would never violate His will. For example, if throwing buses off overpasses using the power of my mind is contrary to God’s will, then I’m doing a great job, because I’ve never done it, and never plan to. God could make anything He found unacceptable literally impossible for us, or literally inconceivable, and it’s Mission Accomplished. So free will doesn’t actually solve the problem.

        • Uncommon, thanks for a polite response to my lashing out. I don’t really understand where you’re coming from, though, because an omnipotent entity would have known “the fall” to be inevitable. Either that, or such a God couldn’t be all knowing. If you accept that God is all knowing, then it isn’t meaningful or honest to say that man introduced murder. God would have know what would happen as an inevitable consequence of its actions. The alternative is that God isn’t all knowing, which absolves it of that responsibility. That just doesn’t sound like the Christian god.

      • Yes, I commented quickly and any quick answer or comment is insufficient and inadequate. This is not the forum for explaining world view and logical outworking of that world view (of which atheism is one).

      • One way to look at Pseudo is to see G-d as your parent, a good a loving patent tbat taught you to be a loving, thoughtful and compassionate person that also believed you should learn from your mistakes.

Then, when you moved out of the house, and if you chose to become a drug dealing, murdering thug that ended up dead in an alleyway getting shot in a drive by, would you blame your parent for your choices?

Well, if you were a liberal, yes, but otherwise, you wouldn’t.

G-d has done the same. He has shown us how to live, then he has given us the gift of free will, and now it’s up to us how we fulfill the promise made to us.

And if we refuse to live by the rules and laws of the universe, as he has shown us…..well, just like the laws of gravity, and the laws of motion , you can only violate them so long before you end up driving head first into a brick wall at a high rate of speed.

  16. Not even worth wrapping fish up in that paper.
Im starting to think the purge might not be a bad idea?
The world is bat shit crazy ain’t it?
This belongs on the bottom of a hampster cage.

  17. Can’t (in which case isn’t God) or won’t (in which case God is evil). Either way, I’d rather have people praying (useless, but fairly benign) than trying to force their disarmament agenda on me (useless, but dangerous).

  18. Seeing how it’s impossible for a fictional character to do anything in the real world, no, God can’t fix anything.

  19. The Snooze printed “God” on the cover to force religious people of all persuasions to stop using the paper to line the bottoms of their bird cages.

  20. The religion of peace strikes again. When will the progressives learn that it is the peace of enslavement and subjugation? Only when the knife is at their throat and they experience a piercing sensation.

The reason why Barry O won’t say the action was an act of terrorism is because it doesn’t fit his narrative. The Democrats don’t suffer from cognitive dissonance. They revel in it instead. But like other progressives, their heads are so full of wool it is child’s play to pull it over their eyes.

Workplace dispute? Cough … Bullshit … Cough. This is usually an individual acting spontaneously with minimal planning. And definitely not something that has two accomplices and a getaway driver, after dropping IEDs. An incident may have been engineered to make the assailants feel justified in their actions.

But it will be the law abiding firearm owners who will take the blame and be punished.

  21. If those who wish to commit these atrocities would accept Jesus as their lord and saviour then the answer to your question is yes he can.

  22. Hey, New York DN, stop intererring with God’s efforts to end terrorism…He gave us the right referred to in the second amendment, BUT you keep trying to remove it! for God’s sake, and ours, and yours, get out of God’s way.

  23. To it seems the people who want to take my guns away are the godless. They say the state is all I need.
And the people who want me to keep and buy more guns are mostly Christians and some jews.

    • Sorry about the edits. I’m trying.

To me it seems the people who want to take my guns away are the godless. They say the state is all I need. And the people who want me to keep and buy more guns are mostly Christians and some jews.
Also there was a lot of science research done by church monks that people forget.

  24. Ah yes. The old “bronze age deity” thing. Why is it that atheists and gun grabbers all use a few cute catch phrases? I’m surprised no one used the “sky fairy” cliche.
Here’s the thing. There is neither scientific evidence for or against the existence of God. To claim otherwise is silly. Equally silly is to discount His existence for this reason.
Atheism is a fairly modern innovation, and one that was initially bemoaned by some of its more prominent adherents. Insert the cliche that atheism is not a religion and therefore has no adherents. I would argue that it IS a religion, or at least bares some of religion’s halmarks. The difference is that its creeds revolve around scientific materialism, usually combined with Enlightenment era humanism. People like Richard Dawkins, and apparently Larry in Texas, seem quite dedicated to evangelizing their belief systems. Which they will argue til the end of days are NOT belief systems, but “reason.”
The thing is, just about every culture has had a belief in something outside the material. I’ve heard the standard Evangelical Atheist response to this, but color me unconvinced. In true religious form, they start with an assumption (there is nothing beyond the natural) and deliver trite hypotheses that might explain the phenomenon while supporting their assumptions.
I cannot prove that God exists, nor would I try. I can tell you however that my personal experiences leave little room for doubt in my mind. And that’s after I tried very hard to accept the opium of society that is Humanist Atheism while on my early twenties.

    • And yet I can prove the bible is TRUE from the fulfillment of hundreds of prophecies. The state of Israel, the rise of Iran,Russia as a separate country,ANY Jews living now, terrorism, apostasy, the perilous times we live in and I could go on ad infinitum… Sorry I don’t engage in debate with the heathen. Keep on praying for Paris-and America. Many of you regular anti-GOD trolls sound remarkably similar to gun-banning democrats…home grown terrorist anyone???

      • Not sure if you were replying to me. If so, we are on the same page. I would agree on all points. But the Evangelical Atheist will not accept that as “proof.”
At the end of the day, acceptance or rejection depends on faith.

        • Oh I’m not raging on you Hamster. I’m relating YES I can prove my faith-as in biblical “apologetics”(I hate that word). Not just the risen LORD or the HOLY SPIRIT living in me and all born-again believers. The myriad of fulfilled(and soon to occur) bible prophecies is obvious to even the most jaded critic. So YES faith gets you saved but Paul related that we are expected to tell even the worst why we believe. GOD bless and Maranatha…

      • What you describe isn’t proof. It’s evidence. Weak evidence. Nostradamus made predictions that could be ascribed to events that actually occurred. That doesn’t mean he predicted them or that he was a prophet, because he predicted a lot of stuff that never came to pass. He said stuff that happened to sound like things that actually came to pass. There is also evidence observable in the real world that contradicts stuff in the bible. That is evidence against the god described in the bible. It’s certainly does not definitively prove that there is no god, but it is definitive proof that not everything contained in the book is literally true, since I can go out and observe them to be false. There’s also a bunch of stuff that we cannot observe that we would expect to be able to observe if everything in the bible were literally true. That’s admittedly much weaker evidence since we could simply be failing to find stuff, but negative evidence none the less.

        • Oh look-a pseudo intellect decrying the scriptures by comparing it to a fortune teller/soothsayer from the late middle ages. Can’t get much vaguer than Nostrodumbazz. Biblical prophecy is profoundly specific-predicting the birth of a country extinct since 586BC? Like Israel? Desert blooming like a rose? Capturing Jerusalem in 1967? How about the future>Damascus reduced to an ash heap overnight(sounds like a nuclear strike)? Scoffers like you who refuse to see evidence(your word) in front of their bloodshot eyes. Sorry I didn’t notice this earlier from a day old thread…

  25. In all my irrational ranting above, I never answered the question. Yes, I believe God can fix this. No, I do not think He will.

    • I’m with you hamster , I don’t think people know how to ask for Gods help anymore .
The way to reach out for Gods Provident protection is from your knees .
Our arrogance has finally closed the door and many of us who hope He is still with us cannot hear his words , go away , I know you not . We have carried our lamps to the threshold but they are empty of oil and full of gadgets , trinkets and toys , pleasures of every kind .
The millions ( billions ) of dollars spent on entertaining us is an abomination in a world of so much suffering .
I actually pray for His quick return these days .
I’m sad , but never totally hopeless . I still believe in humanity . I must

  26. Consider for a moment that this is by God’s design . . . It’s not that God won’t get us out of this, it’s that He (O and He is a He) want’s this. At the very least He has chosen not to act; when you couple that w/ omniscience & omnipotence tacit approval becomes design. If The Name is not batting on mankind’s team a whole lot of things fall into place.

    • Partially right , but knowledge of our actions beforehand does not negate free will . We cannot use Gods omnipotence to excuse our poor decisions or our acts .
God knew we would fail Him when He warned of it’s repercussions but it does not make him culpable .

  27. God’s not in the habit of cleaning up our messes for us. It’s on us to help the broken people and put down bad guys ourselves.

  28. Part of the context of the “we will pray for you” message is that we pray for healing because we as Christians believe only God can heal such deep and personal wounds. If someone isn’t a Christian or believer of any kind that doesn’t mean anything, they want some kind of action. Unfortunately, no action can fix these kinds of wounds. We’re not saying God will take all this away, the Bible is very clean there will be strife and struggle, but God can eventually heal the wounds which nothing and no one else can.

In their absence of God some also want Gov to take that place. They view legislation as equally powerful to an act of God. The sad truth is the legislation we have is impossible to enforce perfectly, and some legislation is barely enforced or not enforced at all.

These acts are heinous and I wish they didn’t happen, but they will continue as long as we remain. All we can do is protect ourselves as well as we can. The media makes these people into rock stars and attracts even more nutjobs, which creates more news stories for the media to report on, so the media won’t cut it out any time soon. The levels of trust in the police is deteriorating, making it more difficult to hire and keep quality officers. More and more the responsibility falls on us and all the political pressure from the left pushes to make us powerless.

  29. God, real or make believe, is the problem. Or at least, people’s interpretations of God.

Way too many evil things done in his name.

  30. Such stupid fucking people at the daily news. This is a huge source of straw manning. Nobody is actually asking God to stop mass shootings. What religious people do is offer religion as a source of comfort to the victims families in tough times. Saying something like “may God be with those who lost loved ones” is similar to giving the victims families who are mourning a hug. They do not ask God to stop mass shootings. Nobody, not even the NRA prays to God to stop mass shootings. Fuck these people for misrepresenting Rebpublicans.
