Milwaukee sewer workers packing heat

There’s been a lot of talk about guns in Milwaukee, after a photo of three sewer workers openly packing heat on the job went viral (above). Make that former sewer workers . . .

American Sewer Services, the subcontractor doing the dirty work for the city, fired two of the men and suspended the third for violating company policy prohibiting employees from carrying weapons on the job. Yes, well . . .

According to onmilwaukee.com, “Legislative Reference Bureau statistics that show the area around 19th and Meinecke — about a three-quarter mile radius — has been the scene of eight homicides and 37 nonfatal shootings in 2017.”

The fact that the sewer workers were white men in a largely black neighborhood has added a racial component to the “debate” over the incident.

Be that as it may, the City of Milwaukee is “directing the Department of Public Works to develop a policy prohibiting contractors from allowing employees to carry weapons while working for the city.”

Disarm Americans working in high crime areas because…? Are these people insane?

    • And so…. at what point does the sewer company become liable for the employees safety? The company is making it a condition of employment that they are not allowing the employees to provide for their own security. The company (or city) should then become legally liable for the security they took away from the employee. Where are the armed guards standing by?

      • Im sure some bean counter has determined it’s cheaper to pay out workers comp for an employee who gets aced than it is to pay for litigation and settlements if a worker (justifiably) kills someone while on the job

        • I know that’s the way it is now. What I am saying is “that needs to change”. If enough gun owning self-defense advocates would stop avoiding jury duty, then we can start making it more expensive for businesses to keep denying people’s rights.

A business has every right to make financial decisions that effect their business so they are going to go with the financially safest option. I’m saying make it more expensive when they fail to provide real security after disarming employees. As it is now, who makes up juries? 1. SJWs 2. People who have nothing better to do with their day. 3. People too stupid to get out of jury duty.

        • That’s not the only problem mate. I’ve been called up for jury duty in criminal court multiple times. Any attorney worth a damn finds the clear conservative indicators such as police/mil/fire and maybe ems as well as anyone who is entrepreneur or small business owner and immediately weeds them out. Never made it past a jury pool, although I would have liked to for the attempted murder case I was called for.

        • @DrunkEODGuy you are 1000% correct! I’ve showed up for jury duty 3 times and not once did I get picked because they weed out anyone that could possible find their client guilty! A perfect example is the useless jackasses that found the illegal invader who murdered the woman in Commiefornia not guilty. Pathetic system of injustice we have in this country!

  1. Was Hitler, Mao, or Stalin insane? Historians have been debating that for years. Frankly, once you understand that leftists believe the end justify the means, and their goal is authoritarian rule over society, their actions may be the act of mad men, but they aren’t insane.

    • I’m reminded of a discussion I once read from a fiction writer regarding the concept of Evil when portraying an antagonist in a story: historically, very few verifiable evil people have considered themselves to be evil. In their minds, they are simply Right; and anyone who disagrees with them is Wrong. This is why we have never seen any actual group identifying themselves as The League of Villainy or the Brotherhood of Evil or some other such nonsense. No – really evil people are the ones who cloak their intentions behind a veil of righteousness and seek to use the law, legal force, or legal authority to force others to do things or live their lives as the Evil Ones see fit.
We must all remember that Law is never about asking nicely, Law is about force – passing a Law means legally depriving individuals of their right to make a choice. And that, at its heart, is what the Gun Bigots want: to use the force of Law to deprive others of the right to live their lives differently. There is no “Gun Control”, only “Gun Owner Control”. What the leaders of the Gun Bigots want does not fit the definition of insanity, but it does cross the line over the definition of Evil.

      • Someone once said, “there are only two kinds of people in the world. Those who want to control others, and those who do not.”
Also known as; the never ending battle of good vs. evil. Evil is the desire to control others. It’s really quite simple.

        • That absolutely right and the only thing necessary for evil to win. Is for the good to stand by and do nothing.

      • “The brotherhood of Evil”, sounds kinda badass. You’re point makes me think though. Is there any group throughout all of history that committed evil, purely for no other reason than to be evil? I’m pretty well versed in history, and can’t think of a single group or person who was simply evil for the sake of it. Anyone know of a historical group/person like that? The closest example I can think of is Stalin, and maybe Caligula.

        • Genghis Khan allowed surrender and tribute. He had great instincts when it came to administering conquered peoples. Take the best warriors with him, promise them glory and pillage, take what you need but leave the farms intact, and move fast, so you don’t wear out the land and the peasants.

It’s when you refused that offer that he got a bit testy.

        • Vlad Tepis was certainly not evil – ruthless out of desperation due to being betrayed by his allies, but not evil. He did the best he could with what he had to protect his people against an overwhelming force, and is considered a hero in Romania to this day.

      • “Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.” C. S. Lewis

        • The way things are ramping up it may be a short time off until the lefties get to come face to face with a modern day version of Mr. Genghis and his Mongolian friends.
The festivities dealing with the progressives all take place due to their own actions of course and their cries of displeasure would be answered with very little care, or sympathy from the people that the left hates in this country or anywhere else in the world

  2. Sewer workers, huh? So, I expect that their knowledge and expertise might translate well to… A plumbing company? A surveying company, maybe? If I owned a private business in that area and thought that former sewer workers’ skillsets might be useful, I’d have them in my office for an interview at their earliest convenience and I’d encourage them to carry openly while on my dime. That’s assuming that my business is large enough to add two employees without my books going into the red.

  3. The people at the top of the gun control pyramid, kapo bloomberg and soros, are evil. The people that have knowingly accepted their money, such as shannon watts, are evil.

But the majority of gun control advocates are simpletons. Not insane. Just easily led and of low intellect.

    • “The people at the top of the gun control pyramid, kapo bloomberg and soros, are evil.”

      JWM gets it.

A Pox (preferably smallpox) on every last one of them.

      *Applause*…

    • I have to go along with every thing in your last commit one hundred and ten percent. Most gun controllers are just brain dead followers of millionaires Michael Bloomberg and George Sores. Sheep being led down the primrose lane to socialism.

      • YOUR comment would have had more value had you commented on the subject matter instead of criticizing English language skills.

    • I agree. The leaders are obsessed with controlling the actions of others; their followers are merely brainwashed and irrational (but not insane).

  4. I’d say megalomaniacal rather than just insane.

That said, if you’re breaking company policy by packing on the job you might want to be a little more discreet than plastering pics of yourself brandishing in public on the job all over facebook.

  5. White people working in a majority black city fixing Infastructure (sic) to help blacks live better, bitch about whites defending against lazy blacks who wont do the job the whites do. f***, em let them s**t in the street like animals; somalia ghetto style.

    • Milwaukee isn’t a majority black city. It does have some shitty black neighborhoods. And why are there so many blacks in Milwaukee, you may ask?

Because Wisconsin, like other radically liberal Midwestern states(Minnesota being another one) established a relatively luxurious welfare standard—and social workers from Chicago actually encouraged their ghetto denizens TO MOVE THERE. And the people of Wisconsin, who had no historical experience with the absolute chaos which results from blacks being in a place, welcomed them in.

It is no small coincidence that the most reliable predictor of whether an area will have a high crime rate and a low standard of living is its percentage of black residents.

So I agree. We should cut off all Federal and State welfare programs to those who choose to not work. If these people were made to take care of themselves, they would kill each other off or die of natural causes and the problem would solve itself.

Does anyone think that if these ghetto mothers had to actually provide for their offspring that they would have so many? These people are on the taxpayers’ teat from the moment of conception until they die. Free health care. Free food. Free housing. Free money. Free breakfast and lunch at school. Then free housing in the correctional system.

THEY ARE LOST. Time for them to be cut loose and made to fend for themselves.

  6. Insane? No. But anti gun rights advocates know exactly what they’re doing, but they honestly just believe that it’s better to virtue signal and cry to big momma government to preserve their feeling of safety from the suburbs that they live. Which is always far far away from the actual problems are. Ever notice how they’re almost always white middle class children of actual privilege™ that become this kind of mouth breathing virtue signaling SJW a-hole? There’s a reason for that, and ain’t because they’re actually virtuous.

  7. Open carry is a poor choice when your income stream is potentially at the mercy of the insane clown politicians, the heartless company, and the clueless voters. Going about unarmed is a poor choice when you live or work in a place like Milwaukee.

  8. gun control advocates are liberals

    liberalism is a mental disorder

quod erat demonstrandum gun control advocates are insane

“Of all the tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under the omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber barons cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

  9. Remember that “insane” is defined as doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results. Lots and lots of insane folks in the world.

The desire/compulsion to control the lives and property of others is the ROOT of all evil. Lots and lots of evil people in this world, and not all of them run governments. Makes no difference what else they believe.

  10. To be “fair” the fired and suspended dudes flashed their gats in public. And I get it…I’ve been in all the worst neighborhoods of Chicago without injury. I have been in some deep shite though. NOW I just try and avoid the city. If I do travel to Chiraq I’ll be armed. It’s MUCH worse.

    • I was wondering why the dude pulled his gun? for a photo opp? Mostly when I OWB carry, open or covered, if I don’t strut around, no one really notices. If I were pulling it out and showing folks, I’d get some side eye, and I live in Kentucky.

  11. Insane? No. They just have a completely different world-view than we do.

In the eyes of a Progressive/Leftist you exist to service the State and that’s it. You can see that in Batty Bernie’s little rant anti-tax bill on the floor of the Senate. Guns in private hands serve as a bulwark against such people going from holding the views they do to actually acting on them.

As much as I hate to invoke the comparison (which isn’t really a comparison) and possibly achieve the 1 in Godwin’s Law, a look through the history shows that “Progressive” is just a really long way to spell “Nazi” and that’s a group of people that generally don’t want an armed populace due to the threat of a resistance to their tyranny.

    • The insane part of this worldview you accurately describe is thinking that it will lead to prosperity AND security for all. Reality, history, logic, all point to the fact that this has failed to produce either, ever, anywhere. Thus: Insane.

  12. The issue in Milwaukee isn’t solely a “gun control” issue. It’s a RACE issue. Milwaukee was just the subject of a Louis Theroux documentary in which he went to the inner city(read:black) area of the city and revealed the absolute dysfunction of the area. What was the response of the politicians in general, and the black politicians specifically? “Who let him have access to the crime scenes? He’s making us look bad.”. Anybody with any common sense knows that violent crime in the US is disproportionately a black thing.

There’s a politician in Baltimore who is calling for convenience stores to remove their bulletproof glass because IT MAKES THE BLACK COMMUNITY FEEL LIKE THEY ARE ALL CRIMINALS. Seriously. Never mind that the owners of those stores are under constant threat of violent crime at the hands of black people.

It’s the same reason that gun grabbers shy away at the mention of gun crime in Chicago. Chicago has the gun laws they want—but when it’s revealed to be a failure they say nothing.

All the mass shootings (and when I say mass shootings, I am referring to the popular media definition—a crazy white person shoots a bunch of people in a public place) do not have a body count which equals a year of black violence in Chicago. But, again, the gun grabbers don’t want increased law enforcement in that area, and would decry any increased prosecution and incarceration of black violent criminals as racist.

So yeah, they’re insane, but their insanity is more a type of religious zealotry—and their religion is the false egalitarianism of racial equality.

  13. Disarm Americans working in high crime areas because…? Are these people insane?

    Reasons:
1). They don’t want the locals to be offended they sent white guys with guns in their neighborhood.

2). They don’t want to offend the locals by implying that their neighborhood is not a nice place, but is instead filled with rapists and murderers.

3). They don’t want to highlight the difference between an inner city ghetto comprised of mostly one race compared to the low crime areas of say, the suburbs, comprised of mostly a different race from the inner city ghetto.

4). They must maintain PC, or a sensitivity mob of SJWs will show up at their homes with signs, vagina hats, BLM banners, and bags of urine to throw at them.

So yeah. If you have been paying attention to the theme here – these reasons are NOT about the well-being of the city workers or their defense, but are about the well being of the executives making the decisions for the city sewer workers.

    • Granted the above, I would like to clarify that it is more cultural than racial. The proof being the race who live in the ghetto also live in the suburbs, and there is nothing wrong with those people in the burbs or the countryside. The people from the ghetto have a different culture than the people from the burbs and this can’t “exactly” be divided by race, but can more precisely be divided by culture. And it’s too bad that there is such a large overlap, as this makes people think that the cause is racial instead of cultural. Prime example: I can adopt someone of a different race, and they will have my culture.

But the executives and the minority’s in the inner city don’t see this. They see white guys with guns coming into their neighborhoods and they immediately think “racism” and the executives sending the white guys in their neighborhoods who brought guns without permission immediately will believe the locals will think “racism.” So PC kicks in, and it’s time to fire them.

It’s all about “offending” people and not about the safety of anyone.

  14. Nobody rationally believes that the sewer workers were in danger of shooting up the neighborhood. There’s too much consistency in gun control advocates’ actions to suggest insanity. The most likely prospect is evil.

  15. No they are not insane. They know exactly what they are doing, the same way the Nazis did. It sounds insane to us, because we love freedom.

  16. Gun Control Advocates are admirers of Adolf Hitler. They truly believe that they can take a civilized country and force the population to go along with their morbid beliefs. They truly believe that they are entitled and should rule us. They are vicious liars as well.

  17. Yes, there are some advocates of gun control who have actual mental health issues. From my 30+ years of dealing with advocates of gun control, I would say that roughly one-third of the advocates of gun control have mental health issues, and most of those are women.

By “mental health issues,” I mean utterly irrational fear – fear of guns, fears of gun owners, fear of ideas.

These people form the core of the audience to whom MAG (and others) have peddled their message since the 80’s.

    • You’re probably right. I can tell you from my dealings with anti’s is that one of those other 1/3’s is filled with people who don’t trust themselves with gun. Saw this a lot dealing with people I dealt with from my hometown who were also of humble means and low economic status.

  18. Gun control advocates suffer from a social-psychological phenomenon called “status discontent” which is, itself, a component of a variety of stresses that are brought on by rapid social and technological change which alters critical social relationships. It’s disconcerting to feel that the values you hold dear, and on which you define yourself and your position in society, are no longer being respected or validated by others. While most people adapt to even rapid social changes, others don’t and, as a result, can develop a pervasive sense of alienation and even moral indignation at their situation.

Looking for a cause for their distress, people feeling status discontent often seize upon the lifestyle differences of others and make them representative of their angst. When this happens collectively, when an affected population recognizes itself and identifies with a “cause” like global warming or gun-control it is not uncommon for them to form a social movement which uses this symbolic reference point, as their vehicle for restoring their sense of lost status and prestige.

“Gun control” is not really about gun control—it’s about restoring lost status. This is why gun-controllers are so interested in making symbolic gestures, like “gun free zones” or “closing gun-show loopholes” which carry more symbolic value than practical usefulness.

  19. “Question of the Day: Are Gun Control Advocates Insane?”

Actually, most aren’t. They track reality just fine. Some just have different values than you do, n a boat load of rationalization and cognitive dissonance to fool themselves with: neuritics and narcissists run amok. The rest are sociopaths in our midst: fine with sane, peaceful, responsible people getting killed by the crazies, if it gives them a scooch of advantage or convenience.

Most aren’t actually delusional; they just play that way in front of the TV cameras.

    • Again, why did that guy pull his? It looks like he’s showing it off to the camera. If you have any inkling that your company is anti, or the contract holder, that would just be silly. Plus, isn’t this the exact situation that CCW is meant for?

  20. Cussing ghetto dwellers because they commit crime is ridiculous. They started with nothing, was offered no REAL help, and continue to be chastised because, they’re black, poor, uneducated, and criminals. Build rehabs not prisons. Skin color does not make a person, environment does. …. Them guys working for the city, should have kept their peckers in their pants and this thread would not be here.

    • I started with nothing, was offered no REAL help, and continue to be chastised because, I was white trailer trash, poor, uneducated, and/or a criminal. “Skin color does not make a person, environment does.” And yet I became a productive member of the working middle class. BS! Anyone who wants to make a better life for themselves CAN! Color don’t matter. (yes I said it that way on purpose)

    • You may have read my story before as this always gets me.

I started with nothing. (Exactly couple hundred bucks and one bag of clothes.) No driving license, no SSN, no friends or family. No English to speak of. No knowledge of how anything in American society works. Unlike those born and raised in this country, even if in ghetto. No affirmative action for me.
My education is in economy of socialist “business” – worthless in CZ, worthless here.
I have been given no help. I found a job before I started looking for place to sleep. Worked 10-12 hours a day, 6-7 days a week. Even though I’ve never held job requiring manual labor I started as helper on construction site. I made $6.50 hourly, while learning moving fast, two languages (Polish first) and a trade.
I have been looked at as a damn stupid immigrant.

I went on one week vacations for first time after 12 years.

After 20 years in US I have a small business, family, friends, decent house that will be paid off in 5 years and life filled with work and fun.

When I hear that someone born in America, who is trying hard, just can’t get ahead in life and has to stay dependent on public support, I don’t know if I should get mad or amused.

  21. Well here’s a thought, have local LEO block off the neighborshood
Rescue group I volunteer for had a Golden Retriever loose in a reall rough part of San Antonio
All the gang bangers went inside their cribs!
Were able to able to get the dog to come to our volunteer with hotdogs and ended up naming the after the cop who helped closet to the vehicle the dog was under.

So I don’t think the contract workers so they could have called law enforcement.

But in answer to question, not insane. Just evil people

  22. The workers were partially at fault, and they deserve the Irresponsible Gun Owner award.
They were holding the guns in the middle of the street. There wasn’t a threat. If you were walking down the street or in a lobby and saw a friend coming, would you whip out your concealed carry gun and say, “Hey, check out my new xxxx?” Even keeping it pointed in a safe direction, it’s still not proper handling and could bring brandishing/menacing/public disturbance charges in most jurisdictions. “Hey, I’m carrying a new xxxx, and you need to come over/go to the range and check it out” is the responsible way. “Concealed is concealed” wouldn’t have been a problem, and holstered open carry might not have gotten an uproar (if that’s legal in MN). This is why we can’t have nice things.

  23. Maybe no one actually skilled in doing the work will apply for it. Then the stuff will never get fixed.

We are getting close to a time when a majority of skilled workers will be retiring. In urban areas (even in Union shops with apprenticeship programs), very few are taking up the trades.

Once there is a very great shortage of skilled tradesmen, if they want to carry on the job, they will will be able to make it a condition of them doing the work.

  24. hope these blokes sue for wrongful dismissal and….sue HARD;
this is some-thing that the NRA/ILA needs to take up….
(should we hold our breaths [?] )

  25. its cheaper too get new employees rather than face law suits/ these political ass holes have no balls, appeasement has became a way of life in the spineless USA.

  26. “eight homicides and 37 nonfatal shootings in 2017”
“The fact that the sewer workers were white men in a largely black neighborhood has added a racial component”

JFC – No More Gun Free Zones.

Criminals are Allowed to have guns. Allow your Workers to protect themselves.

  27. Criminally so, and they seethe with hatred at the thought of private, individual Liberty:
How to create a social state by Saul Alinsky:

There are eight levels of control that must be obtained before you are able to create a social state.

The first is the most important.

    1) Healthcare – Control healthcare and you control the people.
    2) Poverty – Increase the poverty level as high as possible; poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them to live.
    3) Debt – Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes and this will produce more poverty.
    4) Gun control – Remove people’s ability to defend themselves from the government. That way you are able to create a police state.
    5) Welfare – Take control of every aspect of people’s lives (food, housing and income).
    6) Education – Take control of what people read and listen to; take control of what children learn in school.
    7) Religion – Remove the belief in God from the government and schools.
    8) Class warfare – Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to take from (tax) the wealthy with the support of the poor.

  28. Concealed means concealed. I don’t see much concealing. I see some outright brandishing. They’d still have their jobs otherwise.

    • “Brandishing”?

      HOW, by having HOLSTERED firearms?

If open carry is legal (as it is here in Ohio), it’s no damned body’s business.

      • The picture shows one man with a gun in the left hand. That person is not wearing a hazard vest or carrying a shovel or broom.
Maybe a better picture would detail whether this is a S&W, a Taurus?

  29. Yes they are.

    Definition of insane:
2 law : unsoundness of mind or lack of the ability to understand that prevents one from having the mental capacity required by law to enter into a particular relationship, status, or transaction or that releases one from criminal or civil responsibility.

I think that the definition pretty well sums it up for gun control advocates. It is the case with the insane that they cannot observe with is in front of them and hence cannot make any accurate decision about it. They act on either delusion or fixed ideas that have no basis in reality. For example background checks, few if any shootings would have been different as you are either dealing with criminals who buy guns illegally (they re criminals right?) or the other crazy people, usually Libs, that passed the background check and then killed. They cannot observe the truth and make a sane decision from the observation = CRAZY!!

  30. This is simple, they should have carried concealed.
That would have stopped all this before it started and if they were accosted as Construction workers who are white are in black neighborhoods well there it is.
Heck when I worked a survey crew my Boss carried a High Standard .22 WMR derringer all the time everywhere, stopped a lot of shit before it got bad.

  31. At some point funding people who will work unarmed in a “war zone” inside a city budget will become difficult or impossible.
