California prosecutors on Tuesday asked the NFL to remove a video produced as part of the league’s Inspire Change campaign, saying it misrepresents the circumstances leading to the fatal shooting of a black man in 2018.

The video shows Sequette Clark speaking about the death of her son, Stephon Clark, who was killed in the backyard of his grandparents’ home. The shooting led to weeks of protests in Sacramento and across the nation, sometimes disrupting games by the NBA’s Sacramento Kings.

“Though well-intentioned, the video performs a disservice instead of a public service by omitting the crucial facts which preceded Mr. Clark’s tragic death,” California District Attorneys Association president Vern Pierson said in a statement.

Among other things, the video doesn’t mention that he was suspected of vandalism and was running from police, he noted. Clark turned toward them holding what the two officers said they thought was a gun, but it was a cellphone.

NFL officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Attorney Brian Panish, who represented Sequette Clark and other family members in a lawsuit against the city, also did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

“My family will never be the same without Stephon,” she says in the video.

But she applauded a new California law that attempts to deter shootings by police by setting a higher standard for when officers can use lethal force.

“That’s the ultimate goal, to make change,” she says.

The association said in a letter Tuesday to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell that it applauds the league’s Inspire Change initiative, which provides grants to nonprofit organizations and showcases players’ community involvement. The grants focus in part on promoting police and community relations and criminal justice reform, according to the league.

The video entitled Stephon Clark’s Legacy ‘ #EveryonesChild poignantly shows his mother’s loss and pride in her son, Pierson wrote on behalf of the association.

But he said it omits some of the background and crucial context, including that both the Sacramento County district attorney and state attorney general ultimately determined that the two officers broke no laws during the confrontation.

The letter asks Goodell to “reexamine the factual findings of Stephon Clark’s death and produce a video that accurately depicts the conduct of all concerned in an officer involved shooting.”

  1. Interesting. I’m fairly shocked anyone is calling out that propaganda, much more so the group that did. Good for them, and nice to see the NFL continuing to make their case for Stupidest Sports League in the world. The competition is fierce.

    • What is NFL? Oh wait… …now I remember. I didn’t realize that was a thing anymore. Get woke, go broke bitches.

    • Just about every sport is all in on SJW propaganda because they don’t want the mob to come for them (they’re cowards). Hopefully the only sport I’m interested in (MMA) doesn’t cave to this BS.

UFC President Dana White on BLM rioting nonsense:
“I think maybe I should send UFC fighters out on the streets to stop this shit.”

White also explained that protests are not focused enough to make real change.

“It’s like when I wanted to come back and have fights in the pandemic. I could have gotten all 350 of my employees, and we could have walked up and down the street and chanted “we wanna fight!” That’s not what we did. We got out and told our story in the media and worked with politicians.”

“That’s how you make real change.”

  2. More reasons why major league sports are shooting themselves in the feet. Bringing politics in the games. Bad move in alienating the fan base.

    • If the Cleveland Indians cave in and change their name, I’m never rooting for them again. It’ll make prices on Chief Wahoo stuff go through the roof though.

    • I stopped watching any professional sports many years ago. Half of all athletes seem to end up in jail or rehab, anyhow, and a dwindling few conduct themselves as true role models for our youth.

Now, in 2020, it’s suddenly an amazing thing for one of them to actually stand for our National Anthem instead of kneeling in favor of a Marxist organization?

In the end, money talks loudest, and once all the team owners start seeing their investments swirling down the financial toilet, the best thing that can happen is for Economics 101 to kick in, and new recruits get offered smaller contracts that reflect the reduced budgets. $500K per year to hit a ball and run around the bases instead of $10 million sounds about right.

      • These are the sacred words of the incomparable ‘I Haz A Question’. As it was, is and ever shall be.

        All Hail.

      • “I stopped watching any professional sports many years ago.”

I began mine in about 1980, during the baseball strike.

Rich team owners and rich players were arguing about money.

And then came Pete Rose’s bullshit. Fvck ’em all…

    • Politics makes a third happy, a third don’t care, and a third are driven away. Considering NFL audience demographics, They must be losing viewers fed up with the one sided approach.

      I back the blue.

  3. Politically inept history illiterate dumbbells that take a knee are not allowed on my TV, etc. If left up to me for support they would be headed to bankruptcy court.
If a son or daughter is on the streets doing things that stink up America and the police are having to deal with them generally means the parents did not do the policing at home.

  4. When the inmates run the Asylum. The Leadership and Ownership of the Not For Long have shown they fear the people who they employ more than the Fans they will loose. Being a Life long KC Chiefs fan I was never more excited about a season than I was last year. After what I’ve seen over the last few months. I could care less about any sports organization. I watched sports to get away from Politics and all the other bullshit thrown at US daily by Hollywood and the MSM. There importance ends at the end of the “Game” they play.

    • Why should it surprise you that the sports teams which employ enough black folks to run a proper southern prewar plantation, except those black folks get paid like entertainers, should act just like Hollywood morons and entertainers that we have so come to despise as they preach to us from their gated communities.

      • With 3 carat diamonds in their ears and Rolex watches they lecture us about the poor black community.
Most live in upscale white neighborhoods and play golf. Massive car collections. Sponsorship deals that are mind blowing.
Very few give back . They do take their old friends to nightclubs from time to time. Mom gets a new house.
Let’s see them build housing or toss scholarships for bright kids to go to school. How about it?

  5. The MLB and NBA are currently suffering from dwindling viewership and if they don’t stop their social justice propaganda all the regular people who just want to escape from all this nonsense and defunding the police craziness will turn elsewhere for entertainment. We should have all seen the new leaked G. Floyd video by now. We know the news lied to us. We are all tired of the BS and lies and jumping to conclusions. I am guilty of jumping to conclusions after the first video. Now we’ll have to wait and see. I honestly don’t know what will happen at that Chauvin trial…

  6. I’m hopeful that after a zero profit 2020 season sports streamline themselves to just playing sports.
Of course the inexplicable drive to burn your own house down for the virtue signaling is more powerful than profit.

    • Burning your own house down is precisely what black folks have been doing since the Watts riots of 1965 et seq, I was in California band in high school and even I noticed that they weren’t burning down Beverly Hills or Pacific Palisades they were burning down their own ghetto. What kind of moron burns down their own place, but more importantly what kind of moron white liberal takes this as an actual threat that scares them into doing something? I live in NJ now and I’m here to tell you that black folks may not be as dumb as some people think, after the Newark riots of 1967, which gutted the city, and nobody much cared or did anything to repair the damage as the white ethnic middle-class and indeed the black middle class headed for the suburbs abandoning Newark, and only recently has Newark begun something of a come back, Now there have been any number of national racial incidents which have, surprise, not caused corresponding riots and nonsense in Newark unlike say, Minneapolis, or Seattle, or Portland, or LA, or whatever. This is because the black folks who live in Newark Saul that all they did was burn their own place back in 67 and nobody fixed it until they got around to fixing it and they don’t want to bring it down again. A simple lesson, it would seem, and it did take them 50 years to learn it, but learn it they did. There is hope, however dim. Detroit is another example, you notice they weren’t any riots this go round in Detroit either, after bankruptcy and all the abandonment of that city the people who are still there want to hold on to what little they have, and who can blame them. Plus they have a crackerjack black police chief who is very savvy, the kind of guy who would not regard guys like Al Sharpton as anything other than an out-of-town race pimp who can only line his own pockets when he can create trouble in someone else’s town and then depart.

      • South Central LA just rebuilt supermarkets burned down in the 1992 riots. I stopped frequenting college haunts at the riots. I’m not about to spend money in neighborhoods I’m not welcome.

It is like no one read Adam Smith’s “Wealth of Nations.” Well, time for a lesson in the invisible hand.

  7. So now police must be able to read the minds of other people? No more “reasonable person knowing what the officer knew”? I guess the officer has to wait until he is actually shot before he can fire back? That should increase police recruitment.

      • Well, that depends on just who and what the Citizen is.

Yes, for quality folks they should give them the benefit of the doubt.

But when it comes to those people, well, you know what to do.

        • Do you mean those people who don’t know that running away from cops only works if they don’t catch up? Those who don’t know that when cops just caught you, you need to avoid sudden moves, follow their orders and show EMPTY hands?
Are they the people you are talking about? Or are you just race baiting as you usually do?

  8. You guys can have the NFL.

As there are never-trumpers that ‘just can’t’ vote for Trump….I just can’t get into football. I could have and honestly tried to. The whole thing has been twisted too much for me to do anything with it, much less ENJOY it.

The whole thing is dead in my life. A money sucking, power hungry, mad house no longer about the game itself.

  9. If NFL and NBA, not sure but most likely MLB too go under the local taxpayer will be on the hook for the private/public funding of the stadiums, arenas and parks. I think one NFL stadium is privately owned.
A few years ago Sacramento Kings wanted a new arena, made noise they were going to leave and Va Beach VA mayor and city council all put on their shortest red dresses and highest stripper heels begging for the King’s balls to bounce there with a new public/private funded arena.
Sacramento caved, taxpayers there are on the hook for $223,000,000 for the new, opened in 2016, arena.
Now “pro” sports who use public funds (when they “honor” the military or veterans, Dept of Defense pays them for the time, hence it’s not honoring, they are turning tricks on the corner for the DoD $$$$$) and pushing out anti 2A/law enforcement propaganda, who needs a boring CDC study when you have Hollywood doing what it does best, make believe “facts” for the leagues.

    • I remember when the Browns left Cleveland. Half the students in school there didn’t graduate high school and half the girls that did were pregnant. But they had to save the Browns & passed a Sin tax on cigarettes & liquor to fund a new stadium for a new team.

The voters in these cities are getting just what they voted for. I hope the teams and leagues go bankrupt. The cities can keep paying for the rotting empty stadiums with the money they take from their police departments.

      • Philly dropped over a billion on stadiums so millionaire ball players can work. I would have made the owners and players ante up.
The schools, roads and infrastructure in Philly are shit but they have nice ballparks.

        • That shows the priorities of local powerfuls. Bread and circuses before roads and commerce.

  10. From the screen cap:

“Officers say the mistook Stephon Clark’s cellphone for a gun.”

    “…the mistook Stephon Clark’s cellphone…” ? WTF?

    Sheesh…

  11. “Among other things, the video doesn’t mention that he was suspected of vandalism and was running from police, he noted. Clark turned toward them holding what the two officers said they thought was a gun, but it was a cellphone.”

Burn Loot and Murder. They just can’t help themselves. First they ruin basketball with their LeBomb/BLM logo madness and now they’re doing the same hysterics with football. Never has one ethnic group done so much collateral damage to so many. God help this country if Obama’s bitch Pedo Joe gets in in November.

  12. This is crazy talk. If we expected the media to report things correctly all the time or every Public Disservice Announcement to be 100% on the level, most people would have no reason to protest. We can’t expect that.

  13. I’ve never mistook a phone for a pistol…that being said the National Felon League can GTH. I don’t blame the po-leece for a fleeing vandal. Like Laquan MacDonald in Chiraq. I haven’t watched pro basketball since the Bulls glory daze. The Cubs aren’t pizzing me off(yet). And kicking butt. I doubt their season will continue with the Cardinals highly infected. Bigger concerns than homie the millionaire…

    • Watch the bodycam footage. The guy ran at night to the yard of a home where grass was 3ft high and was moving around in the dark, in the foliage. If he had a gun those cops were dead. It was like a training video on how to get killed.

      • It wasn’t just any backyard, it was his backyard.

“Sacramento police fatally shot a 22-year-old black man holding a cell phone that was mistaken for a weapon.
Stephon Clark was in the backyard of the home he shared with his grandparents and some of his siblings when he was killed”

Of course, we can overlook the police trespassing and employing deadly force when it was unjustified, I mean we’re talking about a guy with no job, he’s probably not even a churchgoer either.

        • Miner, you very well know that the cops didn’t just waltz into his back yard, where he was incidentally chilling with his phone in hand and “hunted themselves one”. They followed the perp in hot pursuit, but why not to try to twist this incident into another racial hatred feeding narrative, right?

          You, sir, disgust me!

    • And how many guys that you just chased down for vandalism and are about to pick up, suddenly turned towards you with a dark object in their hand, instead of dropping anything like it was hot and raising empty hands? In darkness. In tall grass. How many?

      • “suddenly turned towards you with a dark object in their hand”

        Oh, is that what happened?

If it was so dark, how did you see it? And if you couldn’t clearly identify the object, what gave you the authority to assume he is guilty, rather than innocent, and employee lethal force. There was no verbal or explicit threat, and it was too dark to clearly identify the object.

And in any case, you weren’t really there, were you? So you don’t really know what transpired, but you post on here as if you were an eyewitness to the actions.

So you believe the armed agents of the state, the same agents that will enforce the red flag order on you in the coming months?

And I am not disgusted by you, just disappointed.

  14. Yeah, the NFL and NBA are both dead to me now. Never cared much about pro football anyway, but I’ve been a fan of the Utah Jazz since I saw my first game in 1983.

All these players are going on about how “we have to use our platform, blah, blah…” No, what you have is a JOB, not a platform. You play a game for the entertainment of other people. Neither you nor the league that hired you are paid to harangue the audience about politics or your pet social causes. And I don’t even care which causes; they could be wearing MAGA jerseys or changing their name to “Build the Wall,” and I’d still be tapping out.

I only follow politics because I have to. It’s crazy-making and it sucks, and I only do it because I have to keep tabs on all the people who otherwise won’t leave me alone. And now the people whose job it is to entertain me won’t leave me alone, either. If they can’t let the game just be a game, then I’m out.

    • I think the NFL doesn’t care about its audience, or doesn’t understand its own business plan. Unlike Nike, which to my disgust hired Kneeler in Chief Kapernick, at least you could perceive the business opportunity for them given that most of the shoes they sell which are overpriced and I needed to go to at risk urban challenged youth, so the hiring could have that appeal. I don’t see why giving into the hired help on the NFL plantation is going to appeal to the customer base that supplies at least 80+ percent of their revenue (directly and indirectly) at all.

    • probably don’t…those aren’t black fannies filling their seats…without them they’re forced to cater to the networks…and we all know where they stand…

  15. Chicago is a good example: the only thing that Most of it’s citizens Republican, Democrat, Conservative, Liberal, Left wing, right wing etc have agreed on in years are their pro teams, the Cubs, the Bears, and the Bulls, Now SOCIAL JUSTICE IDIOTS have managed to plow and poison even that common ground. And SCREW professional sports leagues for caving to that crap. I’m done. It may not effect their bottom line 10 cents, but I ain’t watching them or their overpaid performers, Until they knock that crap off!

    • You must not be from around here, half of Chicago (mostly the south side) roots for White Socks and hates Cubs.

  16. “suspected of vandalism and was running from police”

Heavens above, what a threat to the community!
Of course they were justified in using lethal force against a suspected vandal.

Around here, that’s what we do to the skateboarders who tag a wall or the lovelorn teenagers spraying ‘true love forever‘ on the bridge, shoot them in the back.

    Not really.

To the privileged, equality feels like oppression.

    • It was a lot more than vandalism, go watch the TV tape from the police helicopter as the guy put cinderblock windows through a variety of sliding glass doors of his grandmothers neighbors houses in an aborted attempt to break in, and then once he knew the cops were on to him (kinda hard to miss with the hovering police helicopter with the spotlight right above), he jumped over a number of fences in yards dodging the cops on the ground until they cornered them in a particular back yard which they didn’t know it was his grandmothers possibly and obviously he did, so then he got extra stupid and instead of behaving like a purple about to get caught he thought I’m in grandma‘s yard I can do what I want and so he didn’t listen to the officers commands to drop what was in his hands and he turned towards them and they felt threatened and they shot him. People say we need more police training in this country that’s not true we need more perp training in this country, in how to behave when you are accosted by armed police.

      • Miner knows all this. He just lies like a disgusting piece of stinking feces, to fan the flames of racial tensions.
To shitty racist, everything is about race.

      • Cinderblocks? Well, first it was a tool bar, then it became cinderblocks.

“The Police Department stated on March 19, one day after the shooting, that Clark had been seen with a “tool bar”. On the evening of that day, police revised their statement to say that Clark was carrying a cell phone, and not a tool bar, when he was shot.”

“While the Sacramento County Coroner’s autopsy report concluded that Clark was shot seven times, including three shots to the right side of the back, the pathologist hired by the Clark family stated that Clark was shot eight times, including six times in the back.”

Unarmed man shot in the back, I would say that’s strange but given the fact he’s black, it’s not all that odd.

There is some helicopter video on YouTube, but it doesn’t show Clark breaking any windows. Perhaps you could direct me to video that shows what you describe.

  17. This is the content of an e-mail sent to me. I cannot vouch for its accuracy:

Why Some Folks Have Come to Despise the NFL

NFL “Refresher” NFL History…history not often reported or leaked to the ticket holders. I hope this helps you; it opened my eyes, to better understand when and why the public’s respect for the NFL organization started to crumble…

    * In 2012 the NFL had an issue with Tim Tebow kneeling before each game to pray, they also had an issue with Tebow wearing John 3:16 as part of his eye-black to avoid glare, and made him take it off.

    * In 2013 the NFL fined Brandon Marshall for wearing green cleats to raise awareness for people with mental health disorders.

    * In 2014 Robert Griffin III (RG3) entered a post-game press conference wearing a shirt that said “Know Jesus Know Peace” but was forced to turn it inside out by an NFL uniform inspector before speaking at the podium.

    * In 2015 DeAngelo Williams was fined for wearing “Find the Cure “eye black for breast cancer awareness.

    * In 2015 William Gay was fined for wearing purple cleats to raise awareness for domestic violence (not that the NFL has a domestic violence problem 🙄)
    * In 2016 the NFL prevented the Dallas Cowboys from wearing a decal on their helmet in honor of 5 Dallas Police officers killed in the line of duty.

    * 2016 the NFL threatened to fine players who wanted to wear cleats to commemorate the 15th anniversary of 9/11.

So tell me again how the NFL supports free speech and expression. It seems quite clear based on these facts that the NFL has taken a position against any action by NFL players demonstrating RESPECT for any issue:

For God, social causes such as mental health, cancer, domestic violence, for cops killed arbitrarily, for being cops, or for the Memory of 9/11…

BUT they will allow demonstrations of DISRESPECT for our National Flag, our National Anthem, for America , and for the American People, if it will help mollify a particular group and its supporters. That is who and what the NFL now has shown itself to be.
Pass this post along to all your friends and family, if you believe it worthy of sharing. Honor our military; too many of whom have come home with the American Flag draped over their coffin.

AND NOW THEY WANT TO PLAY THE “BLACK NATIONAL ANTHEM” BEFORE THEY PLAY THE REAL NATIONAL ANTHEM BEFORE ALL GAMES
THERE IS NO BLACK NATIONAL ANTHEM OR ANY OTHER COLOR NATIONAL ANTHEM EITHER

    • It’s mostly BS, here’s just a little debunking:

“However, a major flaw in the argument is that every item on the “NFL’s Free Speech History” list deals with a violation of the league’s unusually strict strict uniform policy, while the kneeling protests during the National Anthem do not.

Regardless, here are the facts behind the items on this viral list.

In 2012, the NFL had an issue with Tim Tebow kneeling for each game to pray and wearing Bible verse messages.

Mixture. Although kneeling before football games has become associated with a form of protest, that wasn’t the case when Tim Tebow was an active member of the National Football League. Tebow, like many NFL players, would frequently kneel in prayer before games or after big plays. We found no record of the NFL having any issues with Tebow’s kneeling, and as it was a common occurrence among players across the league, we doubt that they ever did.

The league did prevent Tebow from wearing “John 3:16” on his eye black, but the league wasn’t specifically singling out the quarterback or his religious beliefs. The league has a longstanding rule against modifying uniforms and prohibits players from marking themselves with personal statements”

The constitution makes no mention of a national flag or a national anthem, however, it does enshrined your first amendment right to freedom of speech and expression.
Even if you are black or brown or yellow or red or white, Christian, Muslim, Druid, Satanist, etc.

  18. Kneel for the “Black National Anthem” (whatever that is) and stand for our National Anthem. It’s Free Speech, right?

    • Black National Anthem, huh. Separate, but equal from Star-spangled Banner, no doubt. Where is the Black Nation? Which country?
Is Asian National Anthem next? How many anthems will they play in the end if every group will demand their own and will there be any time left for the actual game?

I grew up in a country where they played no less than four anthems at every suitable occasion. One for each of the two Federative Republics that comprised the country, the Internationale and the Soviet National Anthem. What is it with leftists and multiple Anthems?

      • “What is it with leftists and multiple Anthems?”

        Multiple loyalties.

But loyalty number one is always Leftism…

      • “Separate, but equal from Star-spangled Banner”

I would say it is not equal to the Star-Spangled Banner, the black national anthem doesn’t include a verse about killing slaves seeking their freedom so there’s that.

  19. Does the current situation remind anyone else of 1970’s when left wingers would spit on military veterans and call them “baby killers” and such? It seems like kinda the same thing.

      • Regan?

Do you mean Don Regan, Merrill Lynch Wall Street CEO and architect of Reaganomics?

It took Bill Clinton almost 5 years to get all that “trickle down” economics thing worked out, but then George II trashed that by 2007.

        • …”Ol’ Bubba” did deliver on his campaign promise…but that guy sure had a lot of baggage….
