President Obama (courtesy politico.com)

The last thing Americans should have to do, over the holidays or any day, is comfort the families of people killed by gun violence — people who woke up in the morning and bid their loved ones goodbye with no idea it would be for the last time.

And yet, two days after Thanksgiving, that’s what we are forced to do again.

We don’t yet know what this particular gunman’s so-called motive was for shooting twelve people, or for terrorizing an entire community, when he opened fire with an assault weapon and took hostages at a Planned Parenthood center in Colorado. What we do know is that he killed a cop in the line of duty, along with two of the citizens that police officer was trying to protect.  We know that law enforcement saved lives, as so many of them do every day, all across America.  And we know that more Americans and their families had fear forced upon them.

This is not normal.  We can’t let it become normal.  If we truly care about this — if we’re going to offer up our thoughts and prayers again, for God knows how many times, with a truly clean conscience — then we have to do something about the easy accessibility of weapons of war on our streets to people who have no business wielding them.  Period.  Enough is enough.

May God bless Officer Garrett Swasey and the Americans he tried to save — and may He grant the rest of us the courage to do the same thing.

  1. And so it begins(wait-continues). President satan speaks…funny but ‘ole barry would have been a prime candidate for Ms. Sanger…

  2. Second verse, same as the first.

By the way, this is NOT normal. How many of us have seen a gunman of this type in person? And if you don’t live in the urban hell holes created by Democrats, then you are unlikely to even see more garden variety (gang) violence. It’s not normal now.

And screw Obama or anyone else who presumes to tell law abiding citizens what weapons they have no business wielding. You have no business telling us we can’t own modern rifles. Again, screw you. Vigorously. Deeply. Repeatedly. With something large, barbed, and red-rot.

But they just aren’t going to stop, are they?

    • “By the way, this is NOT normal. How many of us have seen a gunman of this type in person? ”

This is how they play both sides. On the one side all the gun-grabbing anti-2A groups scream and shout, “This has happened ___ number of times in the last month/year/decade!” Exaggerating the frequency or adding in bogus statistics like suicides, etc., in order to make it look like “because guns” it is an everyday occurrence and guns need to be banned. Meanwhile, politicians like BHO spout the truth that it is NOT NORMAL, but make the same argument that we need to ban guns and repeal the Second Amendment because if we don’t it will almost certainly become normal.

Their agenda is clear and they will twist or spin any data point in their efforts to achieve their goals.

  3. This is what happens when you don’t talk about gun control over thanksgiving.

Seriously though he could have bombed the place just as easily. Evil has no absolute weapon choice.

  4. He will make every effort to take extra-legal executive action to ban “weapons of war”. He is a liar, a man of poor character, and a blight upon our nation.

We can only pray and work toward making sure Mr. Obama fails at continuing his ‘transforming America’.

  5. It’s strange.

A guy who is in charge of enforcing things, by using mostly, well force, which happens to involve guns and all sorts of arms.

But his attitide reflects the idea of: not for you subject, you need to disarm and shame on you for thinking you have rights. Go consume mass quantities of food on this government-supported holiday. That is all.

Obama is very much a PLP politician from my island.

  6. How’s that Colorado 15rd magazine law working? People who want to do harm will find a way to do that harm. They do NOT follow laws. Only the victims…Oops I mean law abiding citizens, follow the laws.

  7. What about the 16 shot in new orleans a while back? Oh wait, everyone involved was black so therefore it’s just “business as usual”? This was a horrible thing, but cherry picking tragedies is disgusting.

      • No mention of the men arrested in the murder of the pastors pregnant wife either…what does it all have in common? The perps could have “BEEN OBAMAS SON!”

The man is a hypocrite of the worst kind, the next year and some change can’t go by fast enough.

  8. Why is this being touted as the “Planned Parenthood Shooting”? Did this scumbag walk into the clinic and just start shooting the place up? Because I have never seen that actually described as a component of this incident. Something to think about, why are ALL of the media outlets calling this the PP Shooting then?

  9. I get it – the thought police say anything that holds bullets is an assault rifle. But what firearms exactly did he have? Was it an AR15? An M14? A bolt action 700? ‘Rifle’ and ‘long gun’ are vague descriptions.

  10. Well you know what? Reap the whirlwind statist. Reap the friggin’ whirlwind. The very existence of planed parenthood is ALREADY highly partisan just because of how many people that are already pro-life in America. And then when it came out that people in PP were gaming the system to make money off of fetal tissue the major response from POTUS and the general left was mostly just to MOCK and try to SUE to keep that tissue trade going.

This isn’t meant to be a value judgement of what this shooter did. Hell… due to my very firmly held libertarian set of moral values I have to be pro-choice. Even if find the will-hilly use of abortion (especially late turn abortion) repugnant as hell. No, I’m just telling it how it is in this. Ignoring and marginalizing the reason people in a moment forces the hand of the UNREASONABLE people in a movement.

    • I’m a staunch libertarian, too. But a pure pro-choice is not required by libertarian values if one considers that more than one person is involved (and the one that dies doesn’t get a choice). If you come from that position, the only position consistent with pure libertarian values is abortion when required to save the life of the mother, or prevent serious bodily harm. More of less like self-defense law.

Yeah, it sucks that the rights of the mother as an individual are compromised by co-existence of another individual, but that’s mammalian biology.

      • Well I’m not here trying to advocate either positions. Nor am I even going to engage in any talk about any position regarding libertarianism when it comes to this subject. Just not going to.

I just brought it up for some context in terms how trying to bully and shame people into compliance will only cause more violence like this.

      • >> If you come from that position, the only position consistent with pure libertarian values is abortion when required to save the life of the mother, or prevent serious bodily harm.

        Not quite.

Even if you accept that fetus at any particular stage of development is a person, and possesses all the natural rights that come with personhood, there’s still a matter of dependence. A hard libertarian would agree that, say, a starving homeless bum on the street has a right to life, but that would not imply to him that the guy has a right to require someone else to shelter and feed them. If the bum were to squat in some private dwelling, and claim that if ejected, he’d die of cold outside, the owner would still have the right to eject him, by force if necessary, to protect his property rights – even if the bum would actually die.

With a fetus, it’s not dissimilar. From a hard libertarian position, it would have a right to life, but no right to depend on his mother’s body to sustain him. So it would be within the mother’s rights to withdraw her consent to such sustenance, and eject the fetus from her body by any means necessary to enforce that.

Unless you would be willing to argue that conception is a contract. Which, I think, is a losing proposition, since contract requires two sentient, rational parties to initiate.

        • The problem with your comparison is that the homeless man has the physical and cognitive ability to fend for himself, the fetus does not.

Also, the mother knows the consequences of having sex, ergo she is responsible for the outcome. Freedom of choice does not equate to freedom from consequence, which is the basic core of the “pro-choice” argument. Don’t want to get pregnant? Don’t have sex. It’s 100% effective and completely free.

    • I have never found libertarianism useful in resolving the issue of abortion. Probably explains why people who are self-declared libertarians are all over the map on the issue.

      • Well what can I tell you. I’m not exactly a professional speech writer or anything. The Libertarian comments were just for framing things into context.

The point I’m trying to make here is that the way the anti’s are operating here is just going to cause more violence across the board.

  11. Mr. President, 3 dead and 9 injured is not normal. It’s a little high for Chicago, but not far off. Maybe two days worth, but you never comment on the carnage in that gun control democratic run war zone do you?

Ok, so on a side note, since we make snap judgments without facts these days anyone see the mug shot of the alleged killer? How long before we find out the killer has been served up a randomly prescribed concoction of ssri and other drugs to help him cope with the world and others to cope with him? Yeah, I always take a lot of hate for that comment but haven’t been wrong yet.

    • On point. I can’t think of a single mass shooter who wasn’t on psych meds. I’ve known plenty of perfectly normal people who became psychotic BECAUSE they went to a psychiatrist and got on meds. I’ve NEVER seen an example of the opposite.

  12. The half black president does not give a (expletive deteted) about the murder of black children by black criminals.

But he is ok with white doctors getting government money to insure that only the state approved number of black babies are allowed to live.

    • Abortion & gun control, racist eugenics is alive and well. Ironic that both are pushed so hard by the “definitely not racist” dems.

  13. It’s like Obama just realized crimes are a common occurrence. Ever heard of Chicago or Detroit? Nothing is being done about those crime-infested areas. People die every day in those cities, regardless of what holiday it happens to be. Yet no alarms being raised.

Also, ever read a history book? Thanksgiving isn’t exactly a great holiday for … say … Native Americans. But nothing is being done to address that whole debacle either. Sweep the tough stuff under the rug and highlight the meaningless crap ad naseum.

God forbid we have get a leader that solves actual problems.

  14. This why I own and carry firearms, to protect and hopefully save my family or friends in the event things go sideways. Thank you Obama for the endorsing the reason we carry.
“May God bless Officer Garrett Swasey and the Americans he tried to save — and may He grant the rest of us the courage to do the same thing.”

  15. One person’s behavior breaks down and it becomes my fault? Obama knows nothing but speaks out. He’s right, we’ve had enough, of his anti-American attitude.

  16. Well… This is it. Here they come and because it was one of the left’s babies, it will happen. Obama won’t let it go, Hillary, Bernie, and the rest of them; even the republicans in congress will sell us out for an “assault weapons” ban, tearing up HIPPA and having medical privacy go out the window, and even confiscation efforts…

And if it was a left winger, they’ll never report it, and they’ll say it was a right winger. This is what they will use. It’s too perfect and it’s too close to election.

    Merry freaking Christmas America.

    • I don’t buy it. Gun control is an unpopular, losing argument. They couldn’t pass anything even after 20 some odd kids were killed in CT, even after 9 black curchgoers were murdered (talk about the left’s babies), three fetus peddlers aren’t gonna change anything. Not to mention it’s precisely because of the proximity to elections. They’re not idiots, they know gun control is unpopular, making some big push for disarmament is gonna put a big albatross around Hillary’s neck.

  17. Oh Boo Hoo already. Obslama.
    You cant legislate away crazy.
    That is common sense,
Leave me and my guns that will never do harm on their own, Unless Im provoked to by a bad or crazy person or maybe an unreasonable government.
Stop the bloody t-shirt waving already. We are tired of that being normal from you.
Unfortunately a LEO or 2 gets killed at times.
They are civilians after all. Arent they?? No more important then any other human being. Except they get paid to step into harms way. Right or wrong. I believe some even like it.

  18. “What we do know is he killed a cop in the line of duty”.

Well no shit. It sucks. It’s sad. You take a job as a cop, that’s the risk you take. No one said your guaranteed to come home to your family beings cop. Harsh reality, but it’s the the truth.

    • Although what you say is basically true, and we all know its an accepted reality, whats the point of your post? To be honest, you sound like Obama.

    • It is a great propaganda term. Hell, a similar model of my Mossberg 590 is used by the military; gee golly, a weapon of war. Same for my cousin’s Colt SAA, my friend’s original Winchester repeater, and his dad’s Kentucky Long Rifle. How about the countless 1911s, Garands and M1 Carbines laying around? Remington 700’s… with a scope! The newspeak brainwashing continues.

      • Unmodified Browning A5s were used by the British in the “Malayan Emergency”–they were a preferred arm. Somebody should tell the Fudds that their favorite skeet gun could very well be classified as a “weapon of war” at some point.

  19. Obama..isn’t there a golf course open some where calling your name?….let the grownup’s take care of this ok….

  20. Why does this incident continue to be called the “Planned Parenthood” shooting, with zero evidence that Planned Parenthood had anything at all to do with the shooting?

Also: where is Obama’s pearl-clutching over the larger death toll at the same time, in Chicago?

    • Oh Planned Parenthood had a LOT to do with this, given that’s where it happened.

What we do not know is whether it was the intended target.

      • And you know that…how, exactly?

What people working at/using the clinic were targeted or injured? As far as I’ve seen so far, the shooter shot people outside, then used the clinic for cover – and once inside the clinic, only exchanged fire with police.

Is there some newer information of which I’m not aware?

        • Um, go back and read what I wrote. I said it’s where it happened. And that we did not know whether it was the target. You’re saying the same thing, now.

I disagreed with your initial statement that PP had nothing to do with it…it did, location is something.

  21. As a non American I can’t help but wonder when this sort of thing (bombings, shootings, assassinations targeting abortion providers) will be recognized as the domestic terrorism issue that it is instead of a gun violence issue. It seems so misguided to call this gun violence, a random carjacking or a gang shootout might be considered gun violence in the vaguest sense of the term (seeing how they involve well … guns and violence). Violent attacks targeting a specific group like abortion providers with clear political goals (to restrict access to abortion) is clearly terrorism.
(To avoid getting flamed I in no way intend to imply that all who support a pro life agenda are such extremists however there is a VERY small minority who apparently resort to such actions)

    • Anyone who targets abortion providers is a murderer and a terrorist, whether using guns, bombs, or whatever.

However, based on evidence currently available, this particular shooter shot people somewhere outside the clinic, then went into the clinic to take cover. I’ve seen no evidence that he targeted, shot, or otherwise injured anyone inside or affiliated with the clinic.

His motivations, at least at this time, remain unknown.

    • It’s a very fine line your walking on. I understand what your saying. But the fact of the matter is if someone wants an abortion, I have no legal or moral stance to say no. That’s their decision and their choice, and it should be on their dime. I know they say funds from government dont pay for abortions, but thats all bullshit. Let’s not even go there. When your tax dollars go to fund state sponsored murder, and you have no say, it brings up a different set of issues. Why should I be held accountable for Tamiqua’s life style of banging out babies because she spends her welfare check on crack instead of contraception? It’s to much for some weak minded people to bare I guess. I would never walk into PP and open fire, but I won’t lose any sleep over it when it does happen by someone else’s hand. Personally, PP is domestic terrorism as far as I’m concerned.

      • ….. I have no legal or moral stance to say no.

You most certainly can take a moral stand against it like has been done for millenia.
Also anyone is free to work to make the legal time window back to 20 weeks and earlier.

The only reason you don’t is because you elect to ignore the million or so babies killed every year. That’s your decision, not mine.

        • I want to delete the last line in my previous post after reading more of CZguy but the F’ing tool didn’t let me edit.

Read you’re first line and flew off the handle before reading onward.

        • A poor choice of words on my part. Of course I’m morally against abortion, but I can’t force my views on someone.else. that’s what I meant. If I go into the clinic, and grab Tamiqua by the hair and drag her out of the place, I’m wrong, and considered a terrorist. When the selling of body parts because public, I thought the republicans, my party would finally be able to put a stop to it…..nope… They caved….that’s what I meant by no legal recourse. Even the elected officials I voted in to office wouldn’t stand up to Obama and the left….whats left? It’s a mess….

    • Using those terms, the government is the largest terrorist organization on the planet. They kill, terrorize, threaten, and oppress more people in their own country than any other one person or group could ever hope to. ISIS may be trying to kill me, but the government is trying to enslave me.

  22. Although this is tragedy, I can’t help but wonder what God’s wrath will be on our country for all the atrocities that PP carries out. I’ll bet its much more than what happened yesterday.

  23. Notice the construction of his statement: “the easy accessibility of weapons of war on our streets to people who have no business wielding them.

Obviously, he has no objection to “weapons of war on our streets” as long as they are wielded by his Praetorians, the military and other instruments of his personal power.

Tell ya what, Bathhouse Barry. If you step out from behind your protective cordon of rough men with automatic weapons (and hookers), we’ll consider giving up our puny weapons too.

    No? Didn’t think so.

    • Nice catch, Ralph–my first thought on seeing that was, “and who DOES “have business” wielding “weapons of war” on the “streets”? As if we didn’t know.

  24. then we have to do something about the easy accessibility of weapons of war on our streets to people who have no business wielding them. Period. Enough is enough.
Giving the Commander In Chimp the benefit of the doubt…
So Obonzo is proposing more badly needed legislation to fix a problem that there is very little hard information about, it is apparent that he is in doubt and is jumping up and down to scream and shout, flailing all about.
Obonzo will sound like a knee-jerk gun grabber, and will help propel sales of guns to new records.

  25. I know what Obama said, but does anyone know what kind of gun was actually used? That 870 the Navy Yard shooter used went thru several “assault weapon” transformations in the news media before someone finally got it right.

  26. We don’t yet know what this particular gunman’s so-called motive was…

I think he was just trying to save the children (at planned parenthood)

if we’re going to offer up our thoughts and prayers again, for God knows how many times…

Come on Obama, you don’t believe in God, if you did, you wouldn’t support planned parenthood aborting babies and selling their lifeless bodies and body parts.

  27. Well, there’s a possibility that this story won’t be the treasure trove the lefties are looking for either. I’m reading that the shooter registered to vote as something other than a Republican and “identifies” as a woman. It’s really preliminary, but if that is the case the story should disappear soon from the gun-grabber’s repertoire.

  28. I suggest we use his OWN words against him. Couple weeks ago, the terrorist attacks in Paris prompted the president to tell us that if we stop any new Syrian immigrants from coming into the US; then the terrorist have won. AND you’re Un-American to even think to do this.

    Soooooo.

The SAME argument should be used against him, in his own words:

In regards to the lone murdered, “We do not succumb to fear”. There’s a difference between vigilance and surrendering to fears “that lead us to abandon our values, to abandon how we live.” “If this senseless act leads to just ONE more restrictions of our rights under the Constitution: ” you let the terrorists win.” “The most powerful tool we have to fight these senseless shootings — is to say that we’re not afraid, and to not elevate them” ….and they will not lead us to change the way we live or to implement more useless laws that infringe on our law abiding citizens.

If you do so, ” you let the terrorists win.”

I think it is absolutely vital for every citizen, to send a signal that the viciousness of one of killer does not stop America from enjoying its freedoms.

If you do so, ” you let the terrorists win.”

Note: these are not my words, I copied them from a user named “mayday” from elsewhere. I just thought they were wise.

  29. Ever notice how we would hear about a shooting about once a year…. then once a month…. now about every week?

At what point will it be all out war?

  30. As soon as your boy tries executive action, fully wiping his ace with the constitution. Then yeah you’ll get your war. Bet many will be butt hurt then…will your masters be there to save you or more busy taking down some fresh crispy kremes?

  31. The only people who have no business wielding so called weapons of war are slaves and subjects. Oh, right, that’s what the left wants to turn us into.

  32. “And on another note: Yesterday 10,000 Americans died. And I took it upon myself to put on a childish theater over 3 specific ones. And am proud, happy and grateful to observe the number of you sufficiently indoctrinated not to pick up on just how pathetic that is.”

  33. If all of you give up your gun(s), I can stop all “mass shootings”, and “gun violence”.

See, it’s no more true than when I say it.
    FUDICTATORINTHEWHITEHOUSE

Used to be. . . a little blood spilled at a Planned Parenthood facility was a Constitutionally protected right to choose. But now the president’s against it before the bodies are hauled off because he’s nothing if not politically expedient.
HOW DOES THIS A-HOLE FIND THE TIME??? He’s usually too busy doing for ISIS and our other enemies what they could never achieve on their own.

  34. Colorado currently has the same laws that Everytown, the Brady Bunch, and Obama are espousing. They didn’t stop either of the two recent high profile shootings that occurred there. I don’t believe these people are stupid. They only logical conclusion that this is incrementalism. Their goal is registration. https://www.cga.ct.gov/2013/rpt/2013-R-0198.htm

  35. Dear Obama,

You telling me you will be able to stand before GOD almighty with a “truly clean conscience” in spite of the tens-of-millions of babies murdered through abortion? You and I don’t worship the same God, I assure you of that.
