In the last sequence, a “pranked” pedestrian shoots back at the faux drive-by. Who saw that one coming? [h/t JLO]

    • If it’s NOT against the law, something is very, very wrong.

Considering the number of things that ARE against the law, but shouldn’t be.

      NOT. FUNNY.

  1. I don’t know if this was staged or not, but they are pretty lucky to escape with their lives if it wasn’t. I certainly would have shot back if I was under the impression that they were trying to kill me, and it would not have been at the ground behind them. Whoever is behind these “pranks” is a Darwin Award waiting to happen.

  2. I know where she’s coming from. When I was an anti I felt this way too.

The entire week it took to get over it was interesting, as the fear was replaced with learning about how my AR worked.

After that, my credit cards were never the same (the biggest damage I’ve taken from going over to the gun side) – but while I know I felt this way, it feels very foreign now, and was pretty easily erased.

Maybe I could start the Institute for Gun Shock Desensitization. We start with a good cry on Monday and end up at the range on Friday.

Getting ’em to sign up in the first place though … I got no answer for that .

  3. !5-2 packs are pretty easy to find still. I picked up 2 last year for well under a grand apiece. One is probably 80 – 85%, but unoriginal box and no buckle/patch. The other was LNIB with every barrel length in both vent rib and VH along with 8 (!!) sets of grips and a whole bag of sight inserts.

  4. I wonder about the other elephant in the room: video games. Most people have seen the ultra violent “It’s a perfect day” trailer on TV. Hey, I love the ad but I’m surprised some of the notable anti groups haven’t crucified Sony for it…

  5. It doesn’t make any difference. It’s all just a dog and pony show, along with paid mouth Gabby Giffords.
I’m in Washington state and it’s going to go to a vote on Novembers ballot.

  6. Maybe 10 years ago I signed up for Dr. Piazzas’ s Front Sight information and news letter and it took half that many years too stop the phone calls, letters and emails from him. He’s almost as bad as AARP.

  7. Uh, the Caracal is dead. Long live the Caracal! Oh wait, the replacement isn’t available yet. Not ’til summer. At the earliest. So . . . Kahr PM9 for now. And MAYBE R51. We shall see. And share. Obvs.

  9. I’m going to have to check out these holsters.

Re: appendix carry. I’ve found that the design of the pistol matters quite a bit for comfort. a square-backed Glock or XD is a lot more comfy than the spurs on an S&W or 1911.

  10. I honestly don’t care how it looks. Does it shoot well? Is it reliable? Are the ergonomics good? It is a gun. Not a piece of jewelry. While I have pretty guns, I would rather they shoot well first. Let’s see what the thing can do before condeming it.

  11. One has to ask why the PoPo would disable the cameras…if they were doing legitimate work consistent with procedure, one would expect that video would be helpful to their arrest/investigation. If something went wrong (I.e they had to shoot the dog) the video would help verify they were attacked….makes me wonder what they were trying to hide, or what they were planning to do that they didn’t want video of it….

  12. So please don’t give me any gruff for saying I hate the police.

As someone who has always stayed out of trouble, I fear the police far more than any street thug without a badge. You can’t fight back against the fascist thugs with badges.

  13. If anyone’s still reading this, a relatively inexpensive partial cure for 1911 grip safety bites is to look closely at the bottom edges and lower corners of the grip safety tang as it emerges from the frame. Detail strip the gun, or at least remove the grip safety. Get a file and maybe a fine stone or some fine sandpaper and carefully round off those edges and corners. Some grip safeties can be pretty sharp. Be careful not to cut away material too far forward, or else you will create recesses that expose equally sharp edges on the frame tangs; it may be a good idea to put some pencil marks on the grip safety showing exactly how far back to go. Better to remove too little metal than too much, because it’s easy to remove metal, but putting it back is tricky.

Once you’re satisfied it’s defanged, put some cold blue on the exposed steel, or, if you prefer, matte black BBQ grill spray paint. Put the gun back together and shoot it some more, and see if it doesn’t draw a bit less blood now.

You may also wish to consider installing an 18.5 pound recoil spring instead of the factory 16 pounder; this may sacrifice some reliability with mousefart softball target loads (or not; good mags, proper extractor tension, and proper feedramp geometry are as important for feeding these as a light recoil spring), but it will also reduce muzzle rise a bit, and no less an authority on 1911s than Hilton Yam suggests it can improve reliability. He also seems to like the Aftec extractor, if you’re contemplating a 1911 for “hard use,” by which I believe he means very high round count use in competitive gun games and/or carrying the weapon in harm’s way.

Oh. The advent of reliable eight-round mags make the 1911 a nine-shooter. Which is two rounds more than the seven everyone keeps quoting. Nine rounds of good .45 hollowpoints, if you’re using a platform that you’re familiar and competent with, where you have good placement and good split times, well, I think you could do worse. This is not to be construed as knocking other platforms.

  14. The fact that $1000 dollars worth of credit card fraud by a couple of two bit crooks that are guests in your home gets a visit by at least 13 (by my count) SWAT wannabees with automatic weapons and a no knock raid is unbelievable. To me, there is no justification beyond simple thuggery on behalf of the cops.

I know that there are a bunch of cops on TTAG who contribute. Based on the story as portrayed here, can any of you justify methods and procedures used by the Police in this story? Yes? Let’s hear it. If not, when are one of you going to summon the balls to just say NO to these tactics and uphold the Constitution you swore to?

I would submit that the only thing that saved the dog’s life was the camera system. Obviously the kids set up the system to dump the video offsite or hid media it really well. Otherwise, you can be certain that there would be no video evidence at all.

Fortunately, no knock raids are not permitted in NH, However, if a cop or sheriff is told to serve a warrant at a home (for a good reason) with firearms and a bunch of people who know how to use them (like mine is), isn’t their responsibility to do so peaceably? Knock on the door, present the warrant, be respectful, give the people time to get dressed and enter the home. If dangerous people getting served greet a uniformed officer at the door with a firearm and refuse to submit, sure, roll in the SWAT team.

I watch this video and it makes me think that the cops were looking for a fight…hence the destroying and covering of cameras. Sooner or later, people are going to stop submitting and the cops are going to get what they want. They will enter the home of people who are better armed and better trained. Every single day this country is turning out exceptionally well trained and combat hardened men who respect the law but will not be bullied. It is just a matter of time before something horrible happens.
