Gun owners and gun supporters are typically the people who do the dirty jobs that “keep the lights on.” Welders, security, police, military, garbage truck drivers, carpenters, auto repairmen, plumbers, farmers, etc. You know, jobs where the likelihood of you DYING on the job is high. They are basically declaring war on people who ensure that his standard of living remains as high as it is. And I seriously doubt many of these millennials are willing to do any of that. The statistical likelihood of dying in one of those professions even the military is not significantly higher than the very low likelihood of anyone of these kids dying in a mass shooting as people here like to point out. Those jobs are not significantly more dangerous when performed properly to mitigate risk than the drive to the job or home or high risk leisure activities that many people willing participate in for fun. This is part of the “working class hero” mythology. It is empirically not true. It is precisely because working class gun owners make their living at “jobs that keep the lights on” that they are at a political disadvantage, they lack the free time, money or social networks to be politically affectatious in any but the most token ways (voting, donating to the NRA). This is the very meaning of the term “silent majority”.
Thats why they want more immigrants, preferably illegal. It allows them to dangle the deportation sword of Damocles over their slave labor force, while at the same time giving them a political carrot of they say the right things and vote the correct way.

These kids have the perfect combination of arrogance and ignorance that comes with youth and are some of the most obnoxious public speakers. They don’t even make arguments. They say a bunch of zingy phrases and demonize anyone who disagrees with them.
Those kids are truly mindless. They have not thought this through and taken even a second to reflect on what civilian disarmament might bring to this nation.
Well, the idea that Americans will ever need to rebel against their government is really crazy to most people. Then the idea that the second amendment will make any difference if they did given how much technology and money the government has is even more crazy.
I think the only way to see that it isn’t crazy is to look at history and recognize that very few people see a dictatorship coming. See that if they knew Hitler would become führer, they probably would have never let him rise to power in the first place. To see that the American colonists immediately after the French and Indian war had no idea they would ever be rebelling against the crown.
Secondly and most importantly, you need to recognize that you have no idea what the future holds. Nobody has a crystal ball that allows them to see the future. What will the U.S. economy be in 50 years? What will the government look like? You have to recognize that you simply do not know and you don’t know the outcome of a war that you don’t even know will happen. But saying “I don’t know” is probably the hardest thing for some people to say.
I feel like it would cause widespread civil unrest that would tank the economy sending everyone’s 401K into the toilet again. Those kids are going to get grounded!

Is it possible, perhaps even likely that within 50 years or so body armor that makes someone bullet resistant from head to toe to all but the largest caliber, highest velocity current conventional cartridges will be available to governments? What is the likelihood that the next generation of handheld firearms developed to penetrate that armour will be legally, commercially available to civilians? Is it possible that within a generation, two at the most the argument that civilian ownership of conventional firearms (which have not changed dramatically in over a century) counteracts government tyranny will be made obsolete by technology?

I think these kids and those funding them are going to be sorely disappointed when the “voters come”. Left to the voters, no majority will ditch their rights to anything. Now on the other hand, there’s pretty good reason for the voters to come after a large group in the legislatures, state and federal, and I welcome that. If you give a rip about anything in your future, get involved in the process. Yeah- I know- you HATE politics. You do, however have to live with what they do to you, like it or not. So, find candidates you like, support them with your physical and financial help, register with a party if you must to vote in primaries, and get to work. Bitching accomplishes nothing.
