What would you do if you found a 38-year-old intruder in your daughter’s room? How about an intruder with no pants? That’s exactly what happened in Louisville after a 12-year-old girl texted her mom letting her know a stranger was in her bedroom, sans trousers.

Moments later, mom’s boyfriend Ali Bracey (above) jumped into action and confronted the intruder – Donald Oliver – and told him to leave. Oliver reportedly only growled back at Bracey. At that point, mom handed her boyfriend the pistol that she had retrieved. Bracey told the local new station what happened next: “He [Oliver] ended up getting six shots.  Period.”

The boyfriend must have shot the intruder around the edges, because Oliver survived the six new perforations. Before he ran out of the house leaking, cops say he dropped a baggie of heroin.

WDRB has the story:

The mother of a 12-year-old girl says her daughter did everything right when a man broke into their home and began undressing in the girl’s bedroom over the weekend.

Donald Oliver, courtesy Louisville Metro Department of Corrections

Donald Oliver, 38, was in court Monday morning, a day after he was shot while allegedly breaking into the home in the 1200 block of Homeview Avenue, near Taylor Blvd. …

“He got undressed in my daughter’s room,” Burton said. “Like, what was your intentions? … You are sick.”

Despite the danger, Burton says her daughter didn’t panic.

“She was really smart,” Burton said. “She hid under the cover, turned her light down, turned her volume down on her phone to text me. When she peeked under the cover to see where he was at, she got up and ran away. She went to the back room. And I think that was really brave and smart of her.”

Burton says all three of her daughters were home at the time, and thanks to her oldest daughter’s quick thinking, they came out of the situation unharmed.

Turns out Donald Oliver lives next door and has a sexual misconduct conviction on his record for impregnating a 15-year-old girl in 2001. The courageous boyfriend, Ali Bracey, will not face charges.

      • I was really hoping one of those shots hit this guy in the junk. Actually, maybe one of them did…he dropped a bag of it on the way out

        • Art. It could have been an auto loader that malfunctioned. Or the shooter could have simply stopped firing when skinny drug pervert ran out of the house. Taking 6 good bullets with him.

Not enough info to go on.

  1. May God (Gaia, the drowned god, my midiclorines, etc), give me the presence of mind to NOT put 2 in the chest and one in the head were I in a similar situation and drag his corpse out the front door to deposit in the gutter.

    • No. I do not need your God stuff taking credit for what good people do.

No, I do not trust any political party.

I’ll vote as I damned well please and it won’t be for some bible banging nitwit.

Pro 2A would be nice though.

      • A lot of people do good things *because* of the God stuff. Just be glad there are people who are trying to do the right thing.

As for political parties, spot on. Don’t trust any of them. That said, you kind of have to vote for one if you’re going to vote at all…

Personally, I’d rather vote for a Bible thumper than a progressive politician any day — and I’m an agnostic. At least I know what the Bible thumper’s standards are.

I’d much rather deal with someone who believes he answers to a higher power whose rules are laid out in a book for everyone to read than someone who believes his personal politics *are* the higher power.

Bonus: The Bible thumper is probably pro-2A.

        • You mean like the conquistadors, the Holy Roman Empire, and the third Reich, just to name a few. I think his comment stands.

        • Research indicates that atheists would rather deal with people who believe in God.
It takes great faith to be an atheist.
          Agnostics? I don’t know.

      • I was at my state house showing displeasure with an anti gun bill at the same time as a prolife demonstration was taking place last year. Personaly Im Anti abortion after 2 months. I’m not passionate about it but if I was a better person I would be.
It occurred to me we should make common cause
With them. I’m sure plenty of strong 2 A People are equally strong prolife But if that’s the case I’ve never met a gun guy
Who bothered to tell me their position on it.
Same with church going people. We all share
the same distrust and disgust for the government
And illegal laws we all suffer under. We should
Align ourselves more closely with other
Groups. At the very least don’t insult God fearing people while banging the table about the 2A.
The leftists have “no enemy to there left”
Why the heck would we have or make enemies to our right? Fn stupid. I won’t speak badly about anyone
Who supports the 2A even if I disagree with their
Other views. On the basic question of natural right to self defense and a check on tyranny if they share my views I don’t care if they have 3 wives or are Hindu.
I can work with and socialize well with people who start from that basis

      • I’m pretty sure CeRay was being sarcastic. Or ironic. Or something other than actually decrying the shoot. Just sayin.

    • Anybody want to bring up the capacity wars again? What ya bet this was a revolver, and the poor guy ran out of ammo. Otherwise I’d *still* be shooing the fool.

  2. “Turns out Donald Oliver lives next door and has a sexual misconduct conviction on his record for impregnating a 15-year-old girl in 2001”

AND nobody notified the neighbors of a sex offender in the area…???

    That’s a major system fail…

    • It’s up to homeowners to check the registration sites. That’s how it works. There isn’t a tasked person who notifies people daily of undesirables next door. You could have a paroled murderer across the street from you right now.

      • AND, you’d be wrong…there are quite a few states that have sex offender community notification laws on the books…ALL states should have community notification laws, these animals gave up their right to privacy when they decided to commit the horrendous crimes they commit…

Nice try though, next time, do some research because you reply…

        • Eh, if laws surrounding “sex offenders” truly reflected people that were dangerous to others I’d agree. I’m sure they usually do, but plenty slip through the cracks.

A guy I know is on the sex offender list for public urination. Was drunk at the time and had to pee in a parking lot. A random person called it into the police, they found him, and just like that he’s now a sex offender. Were his actions smart? No. Does it deserve being stigmatized the rest of your life? Also no.

Rapists, child molesters, people who sexually abuse others……I 200% agree with you though.

    • He’s 38 now, so would have been 19ish at the time of his conviction for that. Not great, but much less of an age difference that the present situation.

  3. I would say that the shooter needs to step up in caliber,,, or maybe actually try aiming the weapon,,, I mean shot 6 times and still gets away?,,, otherwise, good job.

  4. Anyone understand how it is the perp entered the residence without being seen/heard?

On a side note, we are seeing reports of local politicians deciding notifying neighbors of sex offenders location is unlawful discrimination because the law does not require neighborhood notification of the presence of a person convicted of any other crime. Notifying neighbors of a convict in the neighborhood is a violation of privacy, placing such persons at undue risk for harm after they have “paid their debt to society”.

      • “Try explaining that to the girl hiding under the covers in her own house.”

        The law isn’t always nice.

        But…..

How did the perp enter surreptitiously?

        • It’s not hard? I mean, take a look at your own home and ask yourself how you could get in. We know there are several security flaws in our home, possibly due to it being built in 1921. You can go from the back deck, to the garage, to the roof, to the windows. You could probably get in pretty easy and, if its dark and no one is watching, unnoticed. Unless you have a pseudo-castle with iron irons on the windows homes aren’t particularly defensible. Things like ‘livability’ and ‘not wanting to live in a dungeon’ play into that.

        • “I mean, take a look at your own home and ask yourself how you could get in.”

May not be the “usual” here. Cannot enter the home without penetrating locked doors and security system, including Ring door bell, perimeter lighting, glass break and motion sensors, external video. Before we could afford all that, we just kept doors and windows locked at all times, as we do now (with security system armed whether home occupied or not). External door locks are Medeco, considered “bump proof”; angle-cut keys. Windows are not secured with metal bars, but are triple pane (really noisy if broken, even without the glass break sensors).

Maybe homes without air conditioning can be entered through windows without making any noise. Would have no experience with that.

        • I don’t know, maybe through an open window?? It’s that time of year, is that so hard to fathom?

        • “Anyone but me think it didnt really matter to the girl ” how” he got in?”

I would think it matters to anyone who doesn’t want an “new immigrant” to enter their home undetected. At the point of contact related in the posting, the means of entry was probably considered minutia.

        • “I don’t know, maybe through an open window??

That would be my presumption (or unlocked door). Never having lived anywhere doors and windows were not locked 24/7 (except ingress/egress of family and invited visitors), it just seems completely irresponsible to leave any avenue of entry open or unlocked.

    • I disagree. Part of the “debt to society” to be paid for being a convicted sexual predator is inclusion on a sex offender registration and notification of such registration to the local community.

      Want privacy? Don’t rape.

      • Fair enough but what about murderers, drug dealers, car thrives, burglars and others? There isn’t a registry or other requirements for them.
        Why is sex different?

        • You’re asking the wrong person. I support life imprisonment, castration, and/or capital punishment (as appli able) for forcible rapists, murderers, kidnappers, and other, similarly violent felonies.

      • Chip Bennett,

There are three problems with sex offender registries. They include people who were:
        (1) Wrongly accused and plead guilty to avoid possible long prison terms.
        (2) Caught urinating in public (even if they were reasonably discrete).
        (3) Unaware that a consensual partner was underage.

If someone poses such a serious threat of sexual assault that they should be on a public registry, then they should still be in prison. For this reason and the three reasons above, I am having a hard time justifying sex-offender registries.

Clarification: rapists who coerce/threaten their victims or predators who target young children are scumbags of the lowest order. Such people deserve to be in prison for a very long time.

        • It also includes usually only the male partner of teenage lovers. (I have seen cases where both were charged with statutory rape, but that is incredibly rare.)

        • Such people don’t usually stay in prison a long time, they come out in a pine box. These people are off in their heads, most were abused as children, and need to be kept away from children. The problem is that a 18 year old with a 17 or 16 year old boyfriend/girlfriend can be put in jail and on the registry for doing the same thing they were doing before he/she turned 18. Ca has a Romeo/Juliet law saying if they are within 3 years of age, it is ok – other states do not. Years ago, the judge gave a choice: get married or join the service, now it is jail and blacklist for life.

        • And reason number (4) happily consensual and willing partners who would fall under the “Romeo and Juliet” situation as RT66Paul listed. For people in this category, they would simply be married 150 years ago. Today, due to various cultural pressures, such a young couple is not married and the older participant is instead a “criminal”.

      • “Part of the “debt to society” to be paid for being a convicted sexual predator is inclusion on a sex offender registration and notification of such registration to the local community.”

Not firm on my opinion on this. Why select only one criminal act for such a scarlet letter? Why not? Logically, however, one wonders why such after-jail treatment is not required of all crime. The recidivism rate for convicted criminals is reported over the years to be between 80% and 85%; not insignificant. And the vast majority of criminals are not white collar offenders.

    • Sam if they’re asleep , it’s easy not to be heard .In my 28 years on as a firefighter , I could never possibly count the times, we’ve entered houses and apartments, mostly through windows, yelling fire dept. over and over ,only to later find someone sleeping .

Last one a fumes call ( gas leak ) we went in twice ,once through an unlocked door, the second through a unlocked window ( we locked door after leaving thinking we were done ) . The gas company arrived o/s and wanted to go back in , 5 guys yelling FD, tool bags dropped on floor, talking , then one of my guys said ,” I hear , snoring .”

  5. I use to check the database for sex offenders in my neighborhood. Never had to let someone know they had to move.

  6. Said this before. Regardless of caliber, handguns are underpowered for what we want them to do. The only reason to have one is that they are handy. Rifle, rifle rifle! Barring that, bigger deeper holes.

    • Gadsden Flag,

You are 100% correct with respect to the efficacy of handguns versus rifles/shotguns.

I feel compelled to mention that there could be one exception: a .44 Magnum revolver with a 6-inch barrel, full-power loads, and 180 grain hollowpoint bullets. That configuration launches that 180 grain bullet with a muzzle velocity of 1,600 fps and muzzle energy of 1,023 foot-pounds. I am having a hard time imagining any human being who would remain upright on their feet and able to fight after taking one shot anywhere close to the center of their torso.

      • Druggies tend to be skinny. And methed up(stole it already). That hot .44 mag load will zip right thru him and barely slow down. Like shooting ap rounds out of an m16 at the locals in Mogadishu. Multiple hits and some were still up and running. Turns out that neat, clean holes from projectiles that barely slow down are not that effective.

Buckshot, buckshot and more buckshot is the answer to a methed up scumbag at 0dark30.

        • jwm,

Oh, that is an interesting situation that I have never heard before. While I would like to see actual data to be certain, what you describe certainly seems entirely plausible. (I agree that full-metal-jacket rifle rounds zip through skinny adversaries with minimal damage. I am not ready to agree that expanding hollowpoint bullets would zip through a skinny adversary with minimal damage like full-metal-jacket bullets.)

Assuming that your premise is true and good shot placement to center chest area, do you think that a 20 gauge shotgun slug would almost always immediately incapacitate a skinny drug addict strung-out on methamphetamine? I am thinking that a .63 caliber slug slamming into such a person at 1,500 fps would have to be pretty devastating and immediately incapacitating.

        • I try not to assume anything with druggies. I know that hollow points don’t always work as advertised. Shoot them. Shoot them as much as possible.

Remember, until the target changes shape or bursts into flames, keep shooting.

        • “Like shooting ap rounds out of an m16 at the locals in Mogadishu. Multiple hits and some were still up and running.”

That was khat (?), a local drug plant they chew kinda like cocaine…

“Khat can cause many side effects including mood changes, increased alertness, excessive talkativeness, hyperactivity, excitement, aggressiveness, anxiety, elevated blood pressure, manic behavior, paranoia, and psychoses.”

          https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingredientmono-536/khat

      • While all that may be true, a .44 mag would be a poor choice for home defense in that part of town. The houses are close together. Some are brick but many are “shotgun” homes on narrow lots. That round is VERY likely to leave your residence and enter the next… possibly the one after that. 4 buck is probably ideal.

  7. “Pantsless”? Sort of, that’s actually the ultimate variation on the “sag”. Some call it the “transcendent sag”. It is rumored to make you so cool you are bullet proof;-)

      • The cats already ate them. If you keep your animals slightly hungry it makes them healthier, more alert and they watch the place better.

      • A major form of entertainment for me: Lightly rattle the chain link fence in the back yard, like a possum or racoon does when coming in to eat the cat food, and watch my dog come running and searching the yard for the intruder. He will run the entire perimeter 2-3 times and search the whole yard for 15 minutes.

      • “You could only play ’80s cock rock with a name like that.”

        Like Billy Squire’s ‘The Stroke’?

  8. He will be out in 6mo doing the same thing if leftist have their way …. all the criminals will get out unless u own a bumpstock u get a life sentence of no rights and 10yrs in gitmo.

The founders did not envision millions of people in prison costing billions…they would of quickly hauled him out to the nearest tree or light pole and hung him. No prisons needed.

Yet red flag laws take ur rights and property away from u without ever have committed a crime!

I hope the Supreme Court(LIBTARDS & FUDDS) puts a stop to that illegal mess setup by communist gun grabbers as part of The Civilian Disarmament Industrial Complex.

Ol YEa the NRA is pro red flag.. yet they were suppose to fight 4 gun owners not join gun bans and bump stock bans…..they should change their name to the NFA.

The NRA needs to clean house the top to bottom cuz the young peeps like machine guns and black rifles and pistollas not Creepy Joe double barrel shotties

    • Careful with that generalization. I’m 74 and still like full auto anything, having shot a good bit of it in a variety of calibers, when Uncle Sam was paying the freight. As for the wimpy civilian semi-auto’s – well they come in a distant second. Now if we’re talking about some serious long range artillery, we can debate the merits of .50 bmg and .338 Lapua till the cows come home. 🙂

Oh, and I do have the usual assortment of “Fudd” hunting guns, and pistols/wheel guns.

      I like ’em all. 🙂

  9. Since no one else has posted it: Here’s an amusing take on what happens if you pull this in rough neighborhood.

    • Thanks for the chuckle, Strych. I recall seeing that over the top interview, sans melody, on Tosh.O or some such. That mix song is damn funny.

      • I won’t lie. If someone like that dude said “You don’t have to come and confess, we lookin’ for you. We gonna find you. So run and tell dat homeboy” about me… I’d be rolling in full kit everywhere I went.

Skinny black dudes with anger issues wearing gang colors are people I’ve learned not to fuck with.

  10. Too bad he’s still breathing. On the plus side, even if he gets a super light sentence the other inmates will finish what the moms boyfriend started. Even murderers and drug dealers hate child rapists

  11. Like most self defense shootings, this one unfolded over the course of several minutes.
There was time to get a gun from storage and transfer it from one person to another.
I get so much hate on gun sites when I say that I carry empty chamber for the extra safety factor and accept the one second, two handed penalty for needing to rack the slide.
They would have had plenty of time to rCk a slide and get off more than the 6 shots fired in this case.

  12. Any unauthorized entry into my home will receive a MAG dump. 9mm 17 round capacity. Good job on the mother having a gun on hand. And good job on the boy friend using it. (Smile)

Now they need to attend training to improve their shot placement.
