Pace University’s campus is tucked safely between NYPD headquarters and city hall in lower Manhattan. So the response came quickly Thursday afternoon when a report was called in of someone preparing for a mass shooting.

It happened around 2:20 p.m. Thursday at Pace University. NYPD Deputy Commissioner John Miller says some people called 911 after seeing what they thought was a man loading a machine gun from an ammunition belt in a men’s room stall.

Apparently what the person peering under the bathroom stall saw was was nothing more than a fashionable student dropping the kids at the pool.

Police later caught up with him and realized his belt was simply a wardrobe item.

Meanwhile, the building was evacuated. Some students who saw social media posts about a possible gunman said they barricaded classroom doors or fled on their own.

With Halloween coming up fast, there’s no telling what fashion-forward stall-peekers could see in the weeks to come. The boys in the First Precinct could be busy.

    • Just look online…M60 links are $20 per thousand, Most gun shows will have once fired 308 (7.62) or 30’06 and bullet heads for sale. If you don’t reload, just glue the bullets in the empty cartridges, slide the cartridges between two links, and repeat until you have a belt.
      Easy-Peasy

  1. He’s only wearing this belt because there’s a limit on his CLIPAZINE and he doesn’t have a conceal permit. Those two empty shells are for the same reason as an empty chamber in a revolver. You don’t want to shoot your load unintended or prematurely…

    • Got an M-60 link belt with empties hanging on my wall. Have 100. They ended up in my duffle bag leaving the Army. 😉

Don’t have the “pig” but got the links. An old girlfriend wore them in ’89 with my BDU’s as a belt for Halloween party.

No one freaked out then…ah to simpler times without the snowflakey hoplophobes.

  2. So much fail, but when you realize it is NYC that explains it all. When was the last time a belt fed machine gun was used in any crime in America? Pretty sure the answer is never, it certainly is a statistical never (anti-gunners will need this explained by someone with a real degree).

    • I’m told that in NJ, an ammo belt linking more than 15 rounds is considered a large cap mag, and will buy you jail time and loss of 2A rights…how about THAT!

  3. My questions is “Why wasn’t the Men’s Restroom-creeper/peeper arrested, isn’t there a law about THAT?”

  4. I’m surprised the man wasn’t charged with anything?! So unlike the Stasi in the Eastern Bloc Communist states not press any kind of criminal charges.(re: NY Safe Act.)…Maybe they were all feeling generous that day…..

    • Well, the SAFE Act specifies the max number of rounds IN A MAGAZINE. I don’t believe it even mentions the max number of linked rounds for a full-auto.

  5. “….. people called 911 after seeing what they thought was a man loading a machine gun from an ammunition belt in a men’s room stall …”?

Just because the “suspect” was in a Men’s Restroom doesn’t mean they are “male” especially in NYC and correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t “assuming someone’s ‘gender’ a ‘crime’ in NYC”?

  6. So, bathroom stall peepers don’t get arrested either?
If I was the belt guy, I’d be demanding charges for the offense they already confessed to.

And why, pray tell, are some, as in multiple, people peeking through the cracks in a public bathroom stall?

Is defecation a spectator sport in NYC? If so, why do they bother with stalls?

    • “Is defecation a spectator sport in NYC? If so, why do they bother with stalls?”

Give ’em some time to catch up with San Fran, for cripe’s sake!

Actually, when I read this: “was nothing more than a fashionable student dropping the kids at the pool.”

I assumed Dan really meant to write this:

“was nothing more than a fashionable student preparing to drop a stool.”

      🙂

    • The belt doesn’t fit in belt loops, so it was worn loosely outside the clothes. When taken off, it could easily fall to the floor, and any person in an adjacent stall would notice it (it makes noise on the floor).
IMO, it’s absurd to think he managed to get to the restroom stall carrying a machine gun un-noticed, though. Even more absurd to think he needs a restroom stall to load said machine gun. But then, hoplophobes don’t think well, anyway.

  7. I actually have a M60 ammo belt. Wore it to a college class one day and got a reaction. Teacher pulled me aside to inquire about it, told her they weren’t live rounds, and that was the end of it.

They look cool, but wouldn’t call them comfortable

  8. The two missing bullets are really bugging me.

Did he pull them after puncturing his foreskin one too many times? Did he remove them intentionally in order to *keep* that from happening? Did they fall out? If so, can I send him replacements?

  9. like Eleanor implied I am inspired that anybody can get paid $9852 in one month on the internet. have you read this web site

  10. like Brenda responded I’m shocked that a stay at home mom able to earn $7047 in one month on the computer. have you read this web site —> asterbiz

  12. How the hell does that work as a belt? Yes, I have actually used linked ammunition in the wild. What I am asking is… does that thing work as a belt to hold his/her/its pants up?

Seems to me, that would be uncomfortable.

    • For many (like me), it would indeed be uncomfortable.
It is not functional, though – it won’t go through belt loops. It’s all fashion.

  13. Never mind the two with missing bullets– I’m weirded out by the ones with the bullets pushed partways back in the cases… that’s begging for a kaboom!
