David Codrea writes [via ammoland.com] “If I could I would take all the guns in America, put them on big barges and go dump them in the ocean,” Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge Kenneth Walker proclaimed while addressing a cowardly killer who scoffed at gun laws and evidently assassinated the wrong target. “Nobody would have a gun. Not police, not security, not anybody. We should eliminate all of them.” [See video here.]

Sure seems like a good reason to disarm all of us who didn’t do anything bad, no? Although how the robed incompetent expects police to catch and bring such murderers into his courtroom remained unstated. And so much for the false narrative from the left that “no one wants to take your guns.” Of course they do. That “common sense gun safety” line is just for the rubes.

Walker went on to wish for Australian-style citizen disarmament, called guns a “scourge,” and claimed there is “no defense to guns … just absolutely no reason to have them.” He did acknowledge with regret that “it is a right of people in this country to own and possess them, and I will not say anything to affect that right.”

He kind of already did. Perhaps he felt compelled to add that because he has not yet ordered court security to disarm. Or perhaps there’s a more self-serving reason he remembered to mention it.

Judge Walker’s outburst make it fair to question how serious he can be about keeping faith with his oath of office, which is required in accordance with Article VI of the U.S. Constitution and § 1.212 of Oregon Revised Statutes. His oath applies to both the Second Amendment as well as to Article I. Sec. 27 of the Oregon Bill of Rights, which states:

The people shall have the right to bear arms for the defence [sic] of themselves, and the State, but the Military shall be kept in strict subordination to the civil power[.]

Perhaps Walker feels his last-minute addendum gives him cover. The thing is, he’s also made it fair to question how someone on trial for a gun-related offense can reasonably expect fair treatment in his courtroom. That’s also a requirement from the Oregon Code of Judicial Conduct, which compels, among other non-negotiable mandates, compliance with Rule 3.3, “Impartiality and Fairness,” and Rule 3.10, “Disqualification”:

A judge shall uphold and apply the law and perform all duties of judicial office, including administrative duties, fairly, impartially, and without bias or prejudice…

A judge shall not, in the performance of judicial duties, by words or conduct, manifest bias or prejudice…

A judge shall not take any action or make any comment that a reasonable person would expect to impair the fairness of a matter pending or impending in any Oregon court…

A judge shall disqualify himself or herself in any proceeding in which a reasonable person would question the judge’s impartiality…

It would appear that only an unreasonable person would not question Judge Walker’s impartiality when it comes to guns. So what can be done? In a just world, he’d be impeached. There certainly are grounds for it. Here’s how to get that process started.

If I were an Oregon gun owner, I’d be inclined to fill out a complaint form and send it to the Commission on Judicial Fitness and Disability. They’d be required to advance it through their system, it would be something to rally other gun owners around, and it would demonstrate to the public that there’s no place for bias on the bench — regardless of the issue. It would also let the judgment-impaired judge know that — contrary to the intemperate arrogance that makes him think a courtroom is a forum for his un-American bias — he’s just a lousy employee, not a ruler.

  1. I believe we should dump all judges into the ocean, more than 100 miles offshore. If this imbecile cannot explain why his wishes are in any way more valid than mine (since neither is based on anything at all), then both of us should spend the rest of our lives without any authority over anybody or anything.

      • $20 Trillion in debt, we can’t even afford the captains to man the ship’s bridges, AND even if we could rid ourselves of wayward judges and bureaucrats, there are almost as many illegals.

        • “$20 Trillion in debt, we can’t even afford the captains to man the ship’s bridges,…”

A GoFundMe would cure that problem, no sweat.

          I’ll kick in twenty bucks…

          *snicker*

        • 2004, don’t be silly. All we need is one boat capable of holding, say, 25 people and feeding them military rations. When it gets too crowded the inmates will take care of it. Helicopter a captain in now and then when it needs to be moved. Otherwise just keep dropping people off.

        • Yes, kick the anti gun and self defence asshole out of the judiciary, then disarm the dickwad and let him be at the mercy of the lawbreakes just to teach the gimp a lesson. These judges are getting more and more limp bastard wristed and criminal loving, like our judges who like to jail ordinary law abiding.homeowners and the scumbags intended victims for in their eyes the “crime” of defending themselves, their homes and protecting their loved ones from harm and giving the scumbags who commit serious crime just a slap on the fkkn wrist and screws the real victims of the justice they rightly deserve and that really fkkn pisses me off.

    • I see that he’s not willing to the confiscation himself. If he were, he’d have his happy ass in south Chicago right now.

    • Hell we could save a quarter of a billion dollars in salary costs alone of we dumped the judges in the ocean! That doesn’t even factor in benefits packages.

    • I believe we should give one way tickets to Australia to all politicians of every flavor who wish for Australian style gun laws.

  2. His honor finished his rant with an “ain”t vgonna happen.” But the BIG QUESTION is wouldn’t you prefer to live in a Utopia where guns, at least to defend yourself, were unnecessary?

We all have our unicorn and rainbow moments.

    • Yeah, that’s the huge differentiation point. I’d love to live in a world where the idea of armed self defense isn’t a consideration, but it ain’t gonna happen. If criminals of the street kind aren’t the reason then criminals of the government kind (like this judge) certainly are.

      • And if *neither* was a problem, I would still be armed, because I like to shoot. If we had no crime, that would not be a problem!

        • Yep. I’d love to live in a world where no one needed a gun…and everyone who *wanted* one (or two or seventeen) could have one.

  3. Huh. Barges cost money. We have more than enough walls to put tyrants, judges, and any other dirty type against though. Cheaper too!

  4. “Nobody would have a gun. Not police, not security, not anybody. We should eliminate all of them.” That would be nice. As soon as there is world peace and no military’s around the world we should at that time start disarming police, security and citizens. But I don’t see world peace and peace in the Middle East anytime soon.

So this guy is just one big litter bug that wants to destroy our oceans.

        • Given “world peace”, guns would not be any problem to anyone, you could own nukes really cheap because there was no threat to anyone, because peace. Nobody else wants them! No restrictions on any weapons, because we are at peace! Otherwise, the concept makes no sense.

  5. Sounds like he learned his constitutional law from the Lynyrd Skynyrd song:

Hand guns are made for killin’
They ain’t no good for nothin’ else
And if you like to drink your whiskey
    You might even shoot yourself
So why don’t we dump ’em, people,
To the bottom of the sea
Before some ol’ fool come around here
Wanna shoot either you or me.

Very sad. Pathetic, really. One more reason not to move to the left coast.

  6. If you question the judge , you must be in need of involuntary commitment for a psych. evaluation right ?
    Gulag Americana style.

    • I question the judge’s sanity! At 0:33 in the video, the judge said, “We could save 33,000 people a year if we didn’t have guns in this country”.

While it is true that criminals use firearms to murder about 9,000 victims and distraught people use a firearm to commit about 22,000 suicides every year (almost adds up to 33,000, close enough), what is most certainly NOT true is the judge’s claim that NONE of those murders or suicides would have happened if firearms did not exist. The truth: if firearms did not exist, criminals would have still murdered thousands of people with alternate weapons and tens of thousands of distraught people would have committed suicide with alternate methods.

  7. Truth be told, I’d rather any fight to the death I had would be a fencing contest. I am better with swords than firearms, especially relatively speaking. The genie is out of the bottle though, and I do choose to carry and bare firearms.

    • Not at all disputing what you are saying but, the old are going to be a lot more fit in the near future and will have had more time to train. Guns are still the best weapon to choose though.

      • If we ever get to the point where the world is free of guns and there is world peace human kind will have advanced past the worry of strong preying on the weak.

        • If the world is full time 100% peaceful, what would the presence or absence of firearms affect, in any way? Guns do not *cause* violence, nor prevent peace. The idea of this peaceful world needing to be “free of guns” just indicates that we are not speaking of a peaceful world, but of a world where those who did *NOT* surrender their guns are safely in permanent control.

  8. And, just what would happen if the Judge got his wish and all firearms disappeared in America? Evil and violence wouldn’t magically disappear as the Judge envisions. It would actually increase. Samuel Colt called his .45 the “great equalizer” for good reason. Firearms give smaller and/or weaker person a way of neutralizing their attacker’s greater strength and size. Take that away and the predators in this country would have a field day. Rapes, murders, assaults and home invasions would skyrocket – all thanks to the Judge’s Utopian dream. And, the police? Left disarmed. they’d fare little better than civilians in this brave new world. In short, you’d have hell on earth in this country if the Judge got his way. God help us if he ever does.

    • There’s no evidence of such a thing. Just the reduction in drive-by shootings in major cities alone would probably drop the homicide rate, and criminals don’t decide not to rape a woman because she might have a gun.

No, crime would not skyrocket. But if you’re that woman who now can’t defend herself because she can’t own a gun the statistics don’t matter.

      • Hannibal,

I do not agree with your assertions.

For one thing, instead of drive-by shootings, gangs would simply pile out of their cars with clubs and bludgeon their victim in short order. There is a reason that gang members try not to walk around alone on the streets, and firearms are NOT the reason. (Note: I will concede that such gangs would injure fewer bystanders since there would no longer be errant bullets flying into neighboring homes.)

As for rapists, the possibility that a woman could be armed doesn’t deter them for two reasons:
        (1) Historically, very few women have been armed … like one in 200 maybe. A rapist is probably happy to roll the dice with those odds.
        (2) Criminals tend to have a “one-track mind” and lack impulse control. When they see a woman and think “ooh, rape!”, they are acting on the impulse to rape the woman and never bother to consider that she might be armed. Since the rapist cannot see a firearm, it is quite literally “out of sight, out of mind” and they continue with their decision to rape. In a way, though, this is really a subset of the first point that so few women are armed that criminals dismiss any significant risk of harm to themselves.

If you are having a hard time accepting that previous paragraph, ask yourself this question: how many rapists who had decided to rape a woman would continue their approach if they could plainly see that she was armed and appeared to have the where-with-all to use that firearm? Answer: virtually none.

  9. There are now officially more guns here in Australia than before the “buy backs”.

    I have more now

State police claimed on Friday to be getting 200 guns a month. No details of how many were family who did not know better when owners died. Just the scary number

So no very gun free. Besides our mass killers traditionally use petrol and knives but that is ok for some reason

    • “Also how many lives are saved because of guns?”

Don’t be silly! That never happens, they don’t count, everybody knows that, and onandonandon …

  10. One could be lead to speculate…”what else, or who else, could one, put on a barge, to be dumped in the ocean, that could reduce crime and violence?” Hmmmm….

  11. ““If I could I would take all the guns in America, put them on big barges and go dump them in the ocean.”

This judge is a jackass who has no powers except those that we stupidly gave him.

Notice his use of the first person singular pronoun. “I would” blah blah blah. As if he could do anything. He prances around the courthouse in his faggity black robes and expects burly men with guns to do his bidding.

And he doesn’t care if some of those burly armed men do not get home safe at night, because he will be safe behind another group of burly armed men.

Please, Judge Walker, you come for my guns. Not your minions. Not your army. You. Personally. I’m waiting to see what you can do.

Empty barrels make the most noise.

    • That is a brave judge to make such a statement. Karma is a bitch and Karma may one day find him at the hands of a thug with a knife or a club. Both capable of killing his old weak ass.
Headline: Judge Who Once Called for the Elimination of All Firearms Killed With Baseball Bat in Mugging

  12. Apparently someone needs to tell the judge that people are actually capable of underwater exploration. We can recover small aircraft parts from miles deep water… we can do the same thing with an SKS.

    • If we think about it, I’ll bet most of us can remember seeing the junkyard electromagnets which can lift several tons of metal at a time. How many guns could that lift onto a barge at a single use? Answer: Enough to conquer an entire unarmed world within a week.

People this stupid should be digging ditches.

  13. Someone needs to report this Judge to the Oregon State Bar Association for violating the State Law regarding judicial impartiality. This is a violation of his Judicial position and his robes. Look up the Judicial Oath Of Office and you will see that any political statement uttered from the bench is against Oregon State Law. A Judge is NOT permitted to make politcal statement that are contrary to the Oregon State Constitution. He has violated this law and needs to be held accountable for this violation!

He is NOT exempt, and should be held to the standards of the State Of oregon as provided within the Constitution.

  14. Some concerned about self-defense run scenarios in their minds so that if something should happen, they have already thought through what they will and will not do given certain situations, so that they can perhaps perform these actions more quickly under stress should the need arise.

I have done the same regarding certain actions that may someday be taken regarding Second Amendment.

Others may also find this useful given the times that we are living in and the occasional tyrant ramblings from our civil servants.

  15. Judge needs to spend a few months walking around a prison yard. None of those folks have a gun. Let’s see how he feels about people having guns then. I figure a few weeks as the queen of cell block b should do the trick.

  16. What is wrong with ya’ll?!?
I too wish to get rid of all guns!
Matter of fact I was just riding my unicorn yesterday when I found the end of the rainbow with the help of Bigfoot and the Tooth Fairy. My friendly Irish Leprechaun gave me one wish. Guess what I wished for??

    You guessed it!

  17. How can this A-Hole sit on the bench? He took an OATH, did he not? Guess the FASCIST had his finger crossed. Wake people, our so called Justice System is rife these traitors.
I keep thinking of tar and feathers. Maybe it’s time.

    • I moved away from Oregon a few years ago because I was sick of what I saw my state of birth become. Multnomah County is mostly occupied by former Californians who fundamentally transformed Oregon into a liberal fascist paradise. The governments in and around Multnomah have little respect for the Bill of Rights. If you are not loyal to their Progressive ideology, do not expect fair treatment. Overtly, they will tell you how horrible it is that they must follow the Constitution, but covertly, they will look for whatever loophole they can find to circumvent the Constitution. It is truly a government of men, not laws.

  18. I wonder if he also means all Government owned guns.

  19. World without guns? Well, I’ll collect sticks and stones, gather bunch of a rude guys and welcome in the Barbarian Age!
