Come on, is nothing sacred any more? With the opening of Machine Gun Alley in Orlando, yet another wholesome destination for family fun is about to be sullied by the sound of gunfire. Automatic gunfire. “The 13,000-square-foot facility sits directly across from Kissimmee’s Old Town attraction which is a nostalgic tourist mecca aimed at family fun. But instead of roller coasters and go carts, Machine Gun America offers live ammunition automatic weapons, including high-powered machine guns,” reports Orlando’s wtsp.com. Bastards. And you know who’s supremely peeved by the whole thing? A national spokesperson for Moms Demand Action, that’s who . . .

“You’ve got Holy Land right there in Orlando. You’ve got Disney World, and Epcot,” said Lucia Kay McBath, a member of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense, “All places for family fun where they should feel protected.”

Wait. We thought Shannon’s hoplophobic harpies were Second Amendment supporters. I know I’m getting older, but I seem to remember the malevolent former mayor’s telegenic sock puppet spouting that particular talking point a number of times. Yes, that’s right, it says so right on their web site.

Moms Demand Action supports the 2nd Amendment, but we believe common-sense solutions can help decrease the escalating epidemic of gun violence that kills too many of our children and loved ones every day.

OK then. But if that’s the case, why would a bunch of stalwart pro-2A types like the Moms object to a legal business where Americans can have a little closely supervised fun shooting the kind of small arms that are mostly denied to them by the law? It’s probably just a big misunderstanding. Maybe Ms. McBath didn’t get the memo from the home office on how to calm the low information crowd while continuing to stigmatize civilian gun ownership and usage. Better check your inbox, Lucy.

  1. In a sentence that contains both the word “but” as a discourse connective AND two seemingly opposing views, there are two halves: The first half (before the “but”) is almost always a lie, and the second half (after the “but”) is almost always the speaker’s real feelings.

This is why I tell my brother and his girlfriend to say “but I love you” instead of “I love you, but …”

  2. In all these pearl clutching articles, I just wish someone would ask “what, specifically, do you think will happen?”

This is an indoor range, where people will be shooting at paper in front of a backstop. There aren’t going to be stray bullets flying into Disney World, or anywhere else. There’s no reason to object to this on any safety grounds. The only reason is that people might have a good time shooting, and therefore not think of guns as Satanic.

    • It’s inconsequential if it’s guns, religion, gay marriage or sex shops etc. There will always be busybody groups or individual self appointed do-gooders, like Bloomberg, who don’t like what’s going on behind any particular closed door.
      .
Here in Spokane, we have/had a busy body nosy Shannon Watts type. I can’t say her name…wait, yes I can, Penny Lancaster, who just HATED the fact that we had sex shops with viewing booths. Everyone knows what goes on in those places, but Shannon, Penney, even though she is married, didn’t like the idea that some unmentionables were going on, and busy-bodied herself in every venue she could, in true Shannon Watts style and got all these places that had that sort of activity closed.

Gay marriage is another example. Really, most of us comfortable in our own skin heterosexuals couldn’t give a flying turd ball what the gays do. I don’t care! Be happy for gods’ sake. Do whatever it is you do, it doesn’t impinge on me! It’s my belief the declaration of independence grants us the right to pursue happiness and it’s the governments job to insure that inalienable right.

My neighbor state Idaho’s Gov, Butch Otter is having a rough time with gay marriage. He’s trying to sue for this and that for…. what? I honestly don’t get his issue. If people want to be happy, I sure as hell have no business decrying something that has ZERO effect on myself.

These anti-gun groups are facing a tough up hill battle. They have to fight guns with every dirty trick they can. They failed at the federal level, so now they are trying everything on the state level. We all know their game now is to make ANYONE who has a gun, carries a gun, embraces the gun culture should be portrayed by the media and everyone else as a gun nut and someone who should be feared and pumped full of Thorazine, but in the end, it will fail.

Americans enjoy a gun culture deeply engrained in our history and freedom with constitutional protections. We are in our profoundly fortified church and all the antis can do is throw rocks at our front door and sulk.

  3. So essential what this spokes person for Bloomberg’s Mom’s Demand Action group is say that they want a 2nd amendment exclusion zone in any are that they wish. To their mindset they seem to feel that the mere potentiality of harm is more than enough reason to block anything related to firearms that they wish.

Dis regarding everything else I want to draw attention to the FACT that not only some people get severally injured in these amusement parts make people actually DIE on the ride. INCLUDING the in the ‘holy land’ of Disney Land. These incidents are the extreme outliers but they do happen. Just as ALL gun accidents themselves are the most extreme outlines.

Any one who would advocate the closure or banning of this firearms attraction on safety grounds must IMMEDIACY DEMAND the permanent closure of EVERY SINGLE amusement pack and venue in this nation. That or risk the exposing the truth that they do not in fact care about safety but trying to weaken or just out right element the rights codified in the 2nd amendment.

  4. I have to ask, is this person for real? I didn’t realize Disney was soaked in the blood of martyrs. Did the Romans burn Christians there? Which saint performed miracles at Epcot?

It’s a flippin amusement park! Go ride on your insipid kiddie rides and shaddup!

  5. After flying down to Orlando in a plane full of screaming infants and toddlers and then spending a day at the torture factory known as Disney World, any ordinary American would want to shoot a machine gun. And maybe touch off some Semtex.

      • Disneyland > Disney World. WDW’s new My pass system blows with a daliy limit of 3 fastpasses, DL has no limit.

Also Epcot is a part of WDW, pointless of her to say WDW and Epcot since the latter would be included with the former. It shows her stupidity.

  6. After a happy button BAR, a happy button Uzi, and a happy button M4 shooting experience, (not mine, but a Class 3 fellow with the money and generosity to let me try them), I’m very happy to take a three hour tour and test drive a happy button Thompson, or SCAR, or belt fed. Mmmmmmm, belt fed. “Take that MDA!!!”
Than I’ll go to Disney smelling like burnt gunpowder!!!
    MDA’s panties in a bunch?
    Priceless.

  7. Epcot is part of Disney, and anywhere I can get purposly smashed in public is probably not “family friendly” (food and wine fest). I’d go but it’s a little steep for mg rentals

    • 20 years back, friends and I would go to EPCOT for the express purpose of getting slammed “Drinking our way around the (EPCOT) World”

Ja, Inga in the Norway Pavillion…

  8. They want the entire world to be rated G, like a disney movie. And like a disney movie, it will be a world full of hidden agendas (and poorly drawn c**ks.)

    • The Disney parks have plenty of off color and mature elements if you know where to look. Like the painting of a topless female pirate in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. It was painted by one of their old animators, Marc Davis.

The Great Movie Ride over in the Studios park features blank firing Tommy guns.

  9. Given that Coney Island and Six Flags are closed for the winter, and there’s no airsoft or other gun things I can do bar paintball in NYC, and I can’t return to visit my family in Hong Kong due to costs, it’s not gonna be a great Christmas for me.

  10. First gun I ever shot was a 9mm pistol while I was on a busines trip. I worked my way up that day to an MP-5. Semi auto for two mags, then full auto. All this in 1997 – at a gun range 15 miles from Disneyworld. So this is old news.

  11. I just hope the place uses a little bit more sense and judgment than the place out in the Last Stop shooting range. The antis will have a field day if any incident happens.

  12. Finally a reason to tag along to Disney.

Which reminds me that I need to make good on the free machine-gun rental that came with this year’s range membership….

    • That’s the best part…. you still don’t have to visit any of the Disney properties. You can spend all your time (and money) at this particular range and skip the House of the Mouse.

  13. Was at Disney World this past November. Spoke to several Dads in the “Designated Smoking Areas” who complained that “the Wife and Kids have all gone CRAZY since we got here…” then would go on to list various incidents during their visit to illustrate their point. Next time I will be sure to tell such Dads about this place as a venue to relieve their obvious frustration. Couldn’t be much more costly than a Disney Princess makeover for a daughter or two…one guy told me it cost him nearly $400.00 for his twin 8 year old daughters, and said that price was a “mid range” of what was available. Apparently, the Disney folks now do a “Pirate” make up complete with costume and toy weapons for boys now, too, that costs about $150.00 or better. However “Safe” Disney World is, your wallet is apparently in dire peril from Mickey and Friends.

  14. The obvious solution is for the number of FFL dealers, shooting ranges (especially for automatics) to increase exponentially throughout the USA. I mean those Mother’s DID demand ACTION!
