Fox News commentator Bill O’Reilly is a populist, not a conservative. As such, O’Reilly has demonstrated his willingness to throw gun owners under the proverbial bus on numerous occasions. For example, he strenuously defended a state’s “right” to ban and, yes, confiscate firearms during a declared emergency. O’Reilly’s not-so-evil twin, Glenn Beck, is also soft on gun rights. At the NRA Convention in 2012, Beck told TTAG that he doesn’t support Constitutional carry because “we’re not ready for it yet.” That said, I love watching the dynamic duo’s dynamic when they share screen time . . .

O’Reilly hates Beck. He never misses a chance to pull rank, diss and humiliate his former colleague—who seems to have found a set of stones since he split from the Fox family (the old interviews were genuinely cringe-worthy). In this segment, Beck shows a gun. Yes, a gun. politco.com found this noteworthy. Which is noteworthy in the sense that it isn’t noteworthy—except to note the left’s ridiculous hoplophobia.

What I want to know: was O’Reilly calling Beck a wanker?

    • That’s as good a description of O’Reilly I’ve seen, and it is perfectly workable for all intents and purposes.

“Professional” meaning that he makes money by doing what he’s doing.

  1. I used to hate Beck but now enjoy his radio show quite a bit, though I have to remain impartial on some of his crazier theories.

Only real bizarre thing was his conversion to the cult of Mormonism.

O’Reilly is a big government GOP douche through and through, he belongs back where he started on EntertainmeNt Tonight – DO IT LIVE

    • I find Beck and his crew interesting and sometimes entertaining, I will say that Beck does dig into some issues very well and this is the biggest reason it surprises me he’s a Mormon, for someone that seams to be searching for the truth, he has his blinders on when it comes to the cult of LDS, wonderful people but just so lost.

      • I view all organised religion as cults. In the interest of honesty, I was raised a hell fire and brimstone southern Baptist and my wife is a Mormon. I claim no religion and only go into a church, any church, for weddings and funerals.

Corruption exists in all the regular churches I have checked out. Whether I believe in God or not, that’s my business. But I surely don’t bel;ieve the man at the pulpit doesn’t have an agenda.

      • Ah…… Ralph, getting theology wrong my friend is the other area of cults, please don’t get me started on catholicism, the altar boys aren’t the only things they’ve buggered up, now we are back to theology………my head hurts.

    • It absolutely blows my mind that anybody thinks it’s okay to make such derogatory comments about Mormons. These are people whose ancestors were murdered and raped and driven from their homes over and over again, whose babies froze to death and were buried in the snow as their parents walked across the country to escape the persecution that should never, ever have been allowed in a nation founded on the idea of religious freedom, and all because they claimed to believe in revelations and visions. Americans did those things to them. Not Germans. Imagine talking like that about Jews. How dare anyone!

Ross, you shut your damn mouth until you decide to get a clue about what Mormons believe. Then keep it shut a little while longer.

And spiteful people *love* to throw the word “cult” around. Go find out what that word means.

This is supposed to be a blog about freedom, and then come people like you who just want to conduct baseless bashing on a group of wonderful people you can’t be bothered understanding. If Mormons were AR-15s, you’d be senators from California.

    • All the Mormons I know are staunch supporters of the 2a. So I don’t give a damn past that, and really, neither should you. We can debate theology all day one I can order a machine gun by mail again. Till then, I say we stow that.

      • Yep, all Mormons I know (some of them I call friends) are all pro 2nd A as well, now about ordering a machine gun by mail………….

        • Salty Bear, major props to you man. Said what I wanted to say but didn’t know how to articulate it.

        • I think he was an ex Mormon as he never espoused any religiouse views or participated in any religiouse practice after like age 16 as far as I can tell

    • As a long-term member of another so-called (and to remain unnamed) cult, I think it is awfully easy for people to label whatever belief system is other than theirs a “cult” and use that as justification to dismiss it without further examination.

I think it is also rather easy to accept without further examination the spiritual teachings you were raised in since before you could speak and admonished not to question their basic tenets. Before you disparage another man’s spiritual beliefs you need to take a deep and honest look at your own.

“The most preposterous notion that H. Sapiens has ever dreamed up is that the Lord God of Creation, Shaper and ruler of all the Universes, wants the saccharine adoration of His creatures, can be swayed by their prayers, and becomes petulant if He does not receive this flattery. Yet this absurd fantasy, without a shred of evidence to bolster it, pays all the expenses of the oldest, largest and least productive industry in all history.” – Robert A. Heinlein.

  2. Weird. About two Fridays ago, I saw a Glen Beck post similar to this one that was on TTAG for a few minutes then disappeared. Just curious why it would be taken down and reposted?

  3. I don’t like Beck, I find his transformation from right wing tool for GOP to freedom minded, liberty loving individual disingenuous.

I would like to believe he has seen the light, but it is probably more likely he has just seen the money.

Also, I find his constant public crying to be annoying and, quite frankly, weak. There is nothing wrong with crying as a man, but there is a point where it’s too much and it just makes you look like a whiny chump- I think Beck crosses that line.

      • I used to want to like Teddy, at least the public image of Teddy, but for the truth about Teddy Roosevelt and the Bull Moose party you should read “Liberal Fascism” by Jonah Goldberg. A real eye-opener.

      • I’m going to have to agree with Cliff on Teddy, not a fan.

Check out the Von Mises Institute’s articles on Teddy Roosevelt and the modern presidency and the modern welfare state- interesting reads.

  4. Beck’s radio show can be pretty funny at times. I never cared for his TV show because it was just too serious and he went too deep into the rhubarb with stuff. O’Reily knows absolutely nothing about firearms, but that doesn’t keep him from spouting his opinions.

  5. I try to listen to most of the popular broadcasters.
Since most low information voters tend to listen to these folks, it helps to know who leans which way.
Tho I can only stand a few minutes of the left.
    Know the enemy…

  6. Both are Change Agents they keep the people from finding any truths.. as the song goes looking in all the wrong places ……….that’s them…….

      • Long story short we have real Change Agents in lots high places , Fact I saw and read the Real Change agents Manual , We have lots real people out to CHANGE America to a Socialist/NEW WORLD order ………. It’s real I saw it. but will not say how or where…….AMERICA AWAKE time is VERY short!

  7. The comments on here are hilariously uninformed. I will grant you that Beck gets it wrong sometimes, as do ALL of us. But, I see a lot of people on here bashing him and it is clear that you have only listened to or watched him a handful of times and then formed your opinion based on that brief encounter and most likely the opinions you have heard from others. Beck has changed A LOT in the past 6 years or so. He is most certainly not a Repubtard as one person said above. He goes after the Republican and Democrat Progressives just as equally. I listen to the guy 3 or 4 times a week. I never take anything he says at face value and I always research anything and everything I hear from everyone before I form an opinion or repeat said information. The guy’s heart is in the right place and he is one of the few people out there that is trying to find the truth and report it. You should give him a chance before you dismiss him as a loony. I think that many of you will find his views more in line with yours than you would expect. As to his statement that the country isn’t ready for constitutional carry, I would agree with that statement. There are too many people out there that would have a veritable heart attack at the very suggestion. However, that is not reason enough to not enforce the Constitution. I believe we should have constitutional carry regardless of whether or not the sheeple are ready for it, because that is the way the Constitution intends for it to be.

    • When Beck was on the morning drive here in Seattle I listened to him every day on the way to work. I found him generally informative and entertaining until he would get too deep in the religious weeds. I tuned in for politics, not proselytizing. Even so, I do remember his radio show and television he FREQUENTLY said, “Do not trust ME. Do not believe ME, DO the research yourself to confirm what I am telling you is true. Now THAT I can respect.

    • Thanks for the post. I feel like most of these comments wouldn’t be posted if they knew how much of his program is spent on 2a rights. As well as how many times TTAG links to his website.

    • +10
I’ve followed Beck for 5 years and watched him mature
Beck owns more than several firearms, many of which would get him tossed in jail in some states
O’Riely is an absurdist who has strong Leftist leanings
as to Beck’s Mormon beliefs PPL here attack them more than they do Sharia Law.
Why is that, are they the same PPL that did murder many Mormans, rape their women and steal their property?
      Just sayin’

  8. 1. Born into the Morman Church, well, they got you from birth and not believing what your parents tell you is the truth is a tough path.
    2. Yet there are the brave souls that aquire the courage and suffer greatly to get out.

    3. And then there those who are able to come to believe a bunch of made up crap and join this church.
After that, any of his beliefs that line up with the 2A are an accident because they can’t be sourced on any rationality or reality based thought.

Sequence of respect? 2-1-3 and 3=0
