“Emily Miller, the chief investigative reporter for Washington, D.C.’s Fox affiliate WTTG, told the crowd at a January 19 gun rights rally in Richmond, Virginia that the District ‘is not part of America.'” And . . . that’s it. That’s what got mediamatters.org‘s proverbial knickers in a twist. The Soros-funded “web-based, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) progressive research and information center” seized on Ms. Miller’s relatively innocuous (if inappropriate for a news reporter) comment to further their usual gun owners = insurrectionists meme. rawstory.com was a bit more, well, raw about it. They wrote . . .

WTTG reporter Emily Miller told a group of people rallying for gun rights over the weekend that cities which had strict gun control laws like Washington, D.C. were “not part of America.”

In a video clip published by Media Matters on Wednesday, the chief investigative reporter for Fox’s D.C. affiliate speaks at a Jan. 19 rally for Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL), whose newsletters have recommended advice on how to kill “urban thugs” who want to “Kill Whitey!”

Ba-bam! Straight from an insurrectionist insinuation to a contextless implication that the VCDL’s racist. Do these progs not realize that Americans on all sides of the political spectrum hate Washington? But keep on talking boys. Keep on talking.

  1. I’ve been a VCDL member for about eight years and, while I admit I don’t read all of every newsletter, I really do not recall “urban thugs” or “kill whitey”.

  2. I’ve been a VCDL member for about eight years and, while I admit that I don’t read every word of every newsletter, I do not remember “urban thugs” or “kill whitey”.

    • From the July 1, 2011 VCDL newsletter:

“Avoid if you can. If you are standing around and see a group of twenty young urban thugs about two blocks away yelling, “kill whitey”, and look in at your reflection in the store window, realize that you have not been in the sun in a while, here is my advice – “RUN”. If it looks like trouble, it probably is. The gang is not there to debate the effects of american corporate expansion on the development of the urban neighborhoods with you.”

      • 1. In what universe is “RUN” pronounced “kill,” as Media Matters claims?
        2. That took a good bit of hunting. Good thing these folks don’t have to work real jobs or they wouldn’t have the time.

        • Actually, I remember that newsletter. VCDL includes articles and opinion pieces in the VA-ALERT. Sometimes I don’t agree with them, especially with this ongoing perception that if you’re Black, you’re probably a thug who “hates Whitey”. It’s as bullcrap a presumption as the one that says if you’re White and Southern, you probably hate Black people. I called that article out to Philip back then. No, folks, even the VCDL newsletter isn’t always perfect. But overall, it’s been pretty good, and they seem to have gotten better about that particular point.

  3. Why am I logged in as this guy? This isnt me… Anyway she was correct though. Dc is not bound by the constitution and therefore sovereign. In my eyes that’s foreign.

  4. “web-based, notr-profit, 501(c)(3) progressive research and information center”

Web-based PRICs. Just can’t seem to avoid them, can you?

    • They couldn’t. They don’t exist.

Technically they have reps in the house, but they don’t have a vote. They don’t have Senators.

        • The Constitution does explicitly call for the creation of a seat of government in Article 1:
To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States

It would be nice if somebody in Congress would remember that and realize that Congress has exclusive authority to create or repeal any law in DC, without any input from the mayor, city council, president, supreme court, etc.
They could restore gun rights in DC with 51 senators and 218 representatives.

  5. Some of you folks need an education, for real.

Washington DC DOES NOT have a Governor, Senators, or a voting Representative. They ARE NOT a state. They are run by a mayor and a city council. With Congress having final say and authority.

    • And perhaps some folks need to get their sarcasm detector re-calibrated?

I’m pretty sure that asking abut DC’s senators/rep(s) was done to support the point that DC is not part of “normal” America.

  6. Emily was clearly speaking “wryly”.

The hysterical hype and over-reaction by Media Matters just proves how influential she has become, as a reporter and role model. She has the instincts and courage of Sharyl Atkisson, who recently retired from CBS. Read her book “Stonewalled” to understand how Media Matters functions as an attack dog and echo chamber for the left-progressive propaganda machine assembed by Soros and used by the DNC and WH, with the support of many enablers in the StateRunMedia.

Raw Story is a couple of sewer levels below Daily Kos, so its not worth wasting oxygen reading or responding to the deranged moonbattery and paid-for-clicks troll dwelling there.

  7. LOL – something is wrong with this site’s comment settings. I’m logged in as Stinkeye and can edit his comments in this thread.

  8. DC is a weird place. Massively inflated standard of living(unless you live in the dangerous parts) due to ridiculous contractor deals or ridiculous government wages at that level and the trickle down effect of that. It wasn’t uncommon for DC to experience double digit growth throughout the recession(still ongoing). As a result, most of the people I know who live there including some family, are completely delusional as to the struggles of mainstream America and the fact that DC really does take from the rest of the country to stay as it is. It really is like the capital city from the hunger games. When one has the mentality that government should pay for everything, it looks like that is an effective system when you are in the one city that gets to steal more than anyone else and be funded that way.

  9. BTW – this is classic Alinskyite tactics by Media Matters- attacking Emily to take away her credibility is part of Rule 13: Pick target, freeze, personalize and polarize.

    http://matthewvadum.blogspot.com/p/saul-alinskys-24-rules-for-radicals.html

It wont work, of course, as nearly all experienced news readers are thoroughly disgusted with this tactic, and the younger media consumers, the Millenials, are hip to being marketed to by social media, hollyweird, and the StateRunMedia (ie, spun, lied, bs-d).

    So, Go Emily Go!
You know you are on target when the flak is heaviest.

  10. Mods, my name and email field are being randomly populated by names of previous posters. I understand that we DONT actually “log in” – just that when we use our email, it will recognize our name, and if you are using on, connect to WordPress and Gravatar to populate the avatar in the space by the name.

Correct? Something else may be going on, so to other users, I would just say, double check your name and email in the Leave Reply blocks to be sure you are not using someone elses.

  11. DC Mayor just elected quoted as saying “You have a Mayor who hates guns.”
    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/mike-debonis/wp/2015/01/09/muriel-bowser-you-have-a-mayor-who-hates-guns/

DC Council has been cited for contempt, for non-compliance and outright defiance, by the federal judge who ordered them to rewrite their gun regulations to make it possible for the average citizen to apply for a concealed weapon permit. Lots more info here:

    http://www.mdshooters.com/showthread.php?t=156993

Emily wrote about just how complicated and ridiculous the process is, from an average citizen perspective, and because she is a role model for the typical ambitious young working person in DC, who needs protection from the street crime, she is the MOST dangerous voice exposing liberal and progtard hypocrisy.

So, the Media Matter and hired trolls MUST attack her. The proof just how desperate the progtards are is having to stoop so low as Raw Story to find some source that validates the propaganda attack….

Like I said- the obvious collusion on the anti-gun campaign is becoming more evident, and more disorganized.
    Keep Calm and Carry On…

  12. Americans on all sides of the political spectrum hate Washington
Call it DC, or at least bad Washington. Having the same name as that den of corruption is almost as bad as being a kid named Adolf in 1940s America.

  13. I was there, too, and I heard Emily’s entire speech. Even recorded it on my own handycam. You must take her remark in its context. From a “respect the Constitution” perspective, unfortunately it seems the DC government officials might as well not be part of America. They fail to respect the rights of their own citizens left, right, up, down, every which way including loose. So, her comment, in that context, makes sense. Emily and I will not agree on a lot of things, but this Media Matters attack against her is most inappropriate.

Note also how they attempt to frame the Second Amendment as a “far right position”. Wrong again. As Philip himself said at Lobby Day, the Second Amendment isn’t a “left” or “right” or “Democratic” or “Republican” or “Conservative” or “Liberal” idea. It’s a civil right. Period. Maybe “media matters” to Media Matters, but apparently honesty doesn’t matter to them.

  14. Oh, look, another story by the site that’s sooo bad, it could only be called Raw Shit! Their “reporters” couldn’t write a good story if it fell in their laps, and breaking the site rules and insulting visitors you disagree with is cool if you’re a moderator or admin —- this site is such a lame excuse for a joke, I won’t even be visiting their site to read that “story.”
