So there I was cruising the gun counter at Bass Pro Shops in Foxboro Mass. Dead ahead: a woman of a certain age semi-fondling a stainless Ruger SP101 3″. I just had to sing the gun’s praises—and pass out a few business cards. When the potential customer said something about preferring the look of a Smith, I nodded sagely and Googled intensely. When I turned the iPhone towards the guy behind the counter, showing him the previously posted jpeg of Gemini Customs’ Ruger SP101, he said “wow.” A genuine pause n’ wow. And here’s some good news . . .

I’m talking to Mark about making this combo a limited edition TTAG exclusive. He has eight sets of the grips left. So . . . you provide the SP101 and he’ll do the rest, with a discreet marking about the revolver’s limited edition-ness to be decided later. TTAG will add a $100 premium for our trouble (and good name). The first of many such projects? Watch this space; I’ll update it with pricing by day’s end.

  1. Oooh, I like the custom engraved “Read instruction manual” scrollwork there on the barrel. Very high class.

    /sarcasm

    • How much would the ‘liability buy-off’ cost to have Ruger NOT put that stupid phrase on the barrel??? Honestly…

It’s like Crimson Trace sending you those dumb Laser stickers to apply on your own product… WE KNOW IT’S A LASER!!! Just like WE KNOW IT’S A GUN!!!

  2. NEVER use this revolver for self-defense. You want to scare the bad guy, not impress the shit out of him.

  3. I guess maybe I can’t afford to have this done to my own 3″ SP101 because I just hafta ask, “What will it cost?”

  4. Nice looking gat. I’ll still keep my twin S&W model 13 3″ heavy barreled .357’s, though. Sexy in there own way, plus one more round than the Ruger.

  5. Looking at this weapon, I don’t think it’s the Squid Billies on my tv that just made The Big Nine rise and salute…”do not touch the trim!”
