I don’t know what they’re smoking at the United Federation of Teachers union but this is the worst videos of any kind I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Affixing the union label to this POS is like Porsche putting its name on a Chevrolet Spark. Only Porsche rocks and teachers unions suck. Then again, this is the product a serious education initiative. “The LAMP has been working with the STEM Institute of Manhattan since 2012, integrating its media fluency programming with existing core curricula to enrich learning and engage students to new levels.” Anti-gun brainwashing in public schools. What’s not to love? [Will someone please record this video? It’s bound to be deleted.]

    • I went ahead and reported it as misleading. I don’t use Youtube so if they delete my account I don’t care lol
I wrote they get an F on the assignment because they clearly did not do their homework.

  1. i would want to make sure no taxpayer funds were used. additionally, after recent scotus rulings, maybe some union members sympathetic to our cause will challenge their leadership spending their dues on this crap as a political message and ask to have dues collections suspended or diverted

  2. Wow, I didn’t realize the gun stores have been doing it wrong all these years by making me fill out those government forms and then calling in to the NICS center and then making me wait where I had to come back the next day to pick up the gun when the NICS check didn’t pass right away.

I will immediately go and show my local gun store this video and have them sell me a gun the right way.

  3. I tried to leave a comment on this trash on you tube but the comments were deleted big surprise there I guess the libtards can’t handle the truth

      • Check again, they have been deleted. It shows only 1 comment right now about someone saying they got ripped off by getting an UZI instead of an M16.

        It also says
“Comments may be held for uploader approval. “

        • Yup, they started deleting the comments moments after my last reply.

The truth? They can’t handle the truth!

      • I only see one comment on Youtube as I type this:
        “Layne205 1 hour ago
Dude, he’s ripping you off! That’s an Uzi, not an M16!”
that’s it, so if there were more when you looked Hal then they are being deleted.

  4. If more teachers were armed they might get the self-confidence to ditch the unions and THAT is what the unions fear most. So long as teachers are deluded into thinking the unions ‘take care’ of them the dues will continue to pour in.

    • I’ve been teaching for five years now in public education and I have never paid union dues. I have five other colleagues in my building who similarly refuse to support any form of union.

      • It’s not possible in some states. Joining the union
is compulsory, and oftentimes dues and taken from
the paycheck before the teacher sees it.

  5. Wow! That was stupid. But I guess it makes sense. Since they teach such very poor critical thinking skills, the people that this directed to will eat this up. Since many schools teach revisionist history, why show the truth. Because they are so biased, they have no need to show the actual facts of what it takes to get a permit and that a 4473 must be filled out and there is a NICS check that occurs.

It also makes perfect sense that the comments are censored, since education is about free thinking and listening to both sides of story, they instead teach censorship and how to stop and dissenting opinion or speech they do no like.

That 90% support background line needs to be stopped. That is such BS.

They try to win by using emotion to convince the uneducated to believe in a certain way. When the facts themselves are not self evident enough, it tells you something about the argument.

  6. Another insult to intelligent people everywhere brought to you by people who think they are smarter than all of us.

    • Are you referring to Pascal’s anti-teacher rant? Can we just stick to picking apart the enemy in this situation and not make blanket, alienating statements about other pro-gun people and an entire profession?

By the way, I’m a teacher and I have several stacks of donated G&A and other gun/outdoor magazines in my room for reading material and taxidermied waterfowl. Not every teacher is a gun-fearing caricature of that guy/gal who gave you that D- for your senior English class.

      • Stiggins: His comment just happens to be under Pascal’s. If he/she were replying to Pascal’s comment it would be directly under with an indent. Notice the difference in your reply to his comment.

    • I tutored a lot in college and it often brought me to tears
with frustration to see how insanely uneducated most
Education majors were. It was not uncommon for me to
tutor essentially remedial high school classes or below.
I’d often find myself instructing 2nd or 3rd year students
in pre-algebra or ultra basic chemistry. To often I saw
these students go on to teach subjects that they had no
understanding beyond their own teaching curriculum.
These experiences just makes it more infuriating when
I see a group of teachers or a teachers union acts so smug
      and patronizing.

      • “I tutored a lot in college and it often brought me to tears
with frustration to see how insanely uneducated most
        Education majors were.”
        Sadly, I can second this.

  7. Aside from teaching kids that the “M” in “M16” apparently stands for “micro-Uzi”, all this video does is demonstrate the manner in which one can already break several major state and federal firearms laws. How is that in any way a novel and forceful argument in favor of further restricting my and other law abiding citizens’ God-given right to self-defense?

  8. I actually agree with the teachers here. Guns should not be easier to buy than a goldfish. I mean, seriously, why are there regulations that make goldfish hard to buy? Deregulate the goldfish purchasing process!!

    • I had to bust out laughing at this one. You see, I work nights at a Walmart. Ask me how many guns and how many goldfish I’ve rung up 🙂

      Tom

        • It’s strictly self-service at the fish tank on overnights. So maybe it really IS harder to get a goldfish than it is a gun?

          Tom

        • I can’t see how at Walmart though. Half the battle is trying to get a cashier at the gun register to sell you anything. I’ve probably been to my local walmart a dozen times in the last 6 months, every time I stop by the gun counter there’s noone there (except when I got there about 2 hours before the next ammo shipment arrived, then there was nice line waiting to buy the ammo straight from the truck and a person behind the counter.)

        • Well I work the front end overnights, not sporting goods. But anyways. Goldfish (or any other, but bettas seem to be the most popular) is indeed a trick or two. You have to find them first, then locate the fishing net (or just use your hat) after snatching a bag from produce and THEN after all that you have to scrawl the proper UPC number and quantity of selected fish in the bag. Whereupon you bring it to me and I then have to decipher your math and properly enter it into the register (at great speed, of course) all the while levitating the fish in the air so as to minimize the shock (never mind the water – that’s cold as hell) of it all.

Last time I bought a gun I simply forked over my driver’s license and filled out the 4473. It’s all done on computer now. My second grade cousin may be smarter than me, but he’s still got a bit of catching up to do on this computer stuff. For now.) Then the sporting goods associate checks my ID and makes sure all the I’s are dotted and the T’s are crossed and each yes/no answer is properly selected. Then he calls it all in to NICS and duly enters the provided instructions. THEN after all that they page an assistant manager who double checks everything both of us did on the 4473 and my DL. Then FINALLY he actually scans the firearm (10/22 last time) in question and the REGISTER asks him, step-by-freaking-step, if everything was done (enter yes or no?). Name, DL, age, the whole she-bang. Then the manager has to do an override (the key thingy that goes up), and sha-zam! it gives me the total amount due. (One more step on my part – I do get an employee discount on guns and ammo. But I gotta swipe me card on the reader gizmo.) I pay for it, and at long last, said member of management has to walk to the front door holding the grand prize, er gun I mean, with me in tow. Then he shakes my hand and says congratulations and thank you (only time that ever happens I tell ya) and hands me the box. Totally full service. Not even the gas stations in New Jersey can do that well! So you see it really is easier to get a gat than a fish in Misery (that’s Missouri in case you were wondering) – during the daytime at least 🙂

  9. Posted for their reading enjoyment:

I find it amusing to know that it’s considerably easier and certainly much quicker to buy a sidearm illegally in NYC (and the rest of the area, as well) than it is to do so by legal means. All you need is the money. So by all means do keep up your good works!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to the range today 🙂

I honestly doubt they have any grasp of the concept of the term ‘sidearm’ or of the left-handed compliment, but we’ll see how long it stays up.

    Tom

    • Aaaaand….deleted. Of course. Oh, I wonder if the good Mr. Berry knows about his stolen NY driver’s license on prominent display in the video?

      Tom

  10. I bet the teacher did not ask the students to research the firearms buying process and simply parroted the gun control agenda to them. The students have fun making the video and get indoctrinated at the same. Liberal win-win.

  11. Goldfish are a bait fish. They are there to get parents into the store several times to buy a fish. Seeing how goldfish will die of shock shortly after you get them home. You will be back and eventually you will buy a setup that works. Every gun I own was purchased through a dealer. I filled out a 4473 form and my name was sent to the FBI’s NICS check. Still not easier than buying a half dead fish.

  12. The teachers in NY are just mad because they did not make it to the gun shops in time for their buy a firearm get a goldfish sale.

Seriously teachers in NY have enough time to teach and preach gun control?

  13. I support background checks. That’s why we have them. If by 90%, they are referring to the unconstitutional universal background checks that was defeated, well, they are full of des shitze.

I think this “PSA” was written by the students. I’ll give it a pass. It in no way resembles any gun purchase process that I ever went through.

  14. I really don’t think this law passed, but t was brought up in San Francisco, and it proves there is absolutely nothing a liberal doesn’t want to ban: http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/matier-ross/article/SF-Animal-Control-Commission-seeks-ban-on-goldfish-2368159.php
That being said isn’t a license and a gun ID card necessary to buy a gun in NY? Or is that just NYC? Furthermore they forgot to call in the NICS background check. D- on research and accuracy. Also an M16 for $600 is a bargain, heck a decent Ar15 for 600 is a good deal.

  15. That was the most bass akward thing I have ever seen. So the liberal strategy is just to go full retard until everyone believes them huh?

  16. First, I’ve never been asked for proof of a tank or filter when buying a fish. Let’s remember too that the cheap goldfish are mostly sold to people with Oscars that are going to eat them, but that aside.

Why didn’t they show how criminals really get guns? Out of the back of a car, and no one’s asking for ID. Now if that was supposed to be a gun store, why didn’t he fill out a 4473? Illegal sale in and of itself.

Lastly, as other’s pointed out, kid asked for an M16, so why did he receive an UZI? Also, an M16 would require lots of ATF paperwork as it it a full auto weapon. Unlike an AR15 which is what they probably meant.

The stupid, it burns. Fortunately my kids have nebver been subjected to any of this nonsense, but if the day ever comes there will be hell to pay.

  17. We should exercise caution when using negative modifiers like “worst.”
At the very least, put “probably the” before “worst,” or “to date” after it,
especially if we are going to end the sentence with, “in my entire life.”
Otherwise, we’ll have nowhere to go when an even worse video comes
across the transom, which with this crowd, is not only possible, it’s
highly probable. Never underestimate the power of stupid people.

  18. “Affixing the union label to this POS is like Porsche putting its name on a pair of retarded Volkswagen minivans

    Fixed that for you.

I spent 15 or so years in the exotic animal industry in various capacities. Not only have I never heard a shop owner/sales person anything about the environment a gold fish will be kept it, the truth is often that misinformation is distributed by the same people regarding animals with much, much more expert level husbandry requirements. “Oh yeah, sure, this black tip reef shark will be fine in that 300 gallon tank. Fish only grow to the size of the tank they’re kept in.”

End of rant. Sorry. That really grinds my gears. Oh, and this is the dumbest video I’ve ever seen.

  19. It shouldn’t be easier to get a teaching job than to buy a gun. And teachers should be at least as smart as a goldfish. Unfortunately, neither one is always true.

  20. I went to the LAMPS website and found this tidbit.

    “LAMP Testimonials

“Finally, critical thinking about media in a way that is teachable, fun for kids and incredibly empowering…[The LAMP] is authentic media literacy that can be used in schools and at home to encourage people to both create better media and become better consumers of media.”
    – Dr. Alice Wilder, Cartoon Network”

    Critical thinking my arse.

301 views on Youtube, 38 thumbs down, 1 thumbs up.

  21. What I just watched was the most insanely idiotic thing I have ever seen. At no point in incoherent video was there even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought/insight. Everyone that has watched that video is now dumber for having seen it.

I award the Teachers Union no points, and may God have mercy on their souls.

  22. I think it’s kind of interesting that at :34 they clearly show Berry Richard’s full driver’s license including his address. I wouldn’t expect any different from the great minds that thought up this insightful and intelligent video, but amusing none the less.

  23. I left this comment for them, and I figure that if they delete it I will just keep reposting it over and over. ( I saved it to my computer. ) By the way, since most of us here already know the steps, I deleted the portions with the steps to keep it ‘somewhat’ brief.

I have a serious issue with this video. You portray firearms as being easier to purchase than fish, and maybe in NY it is that hard to buy a fish, but you do NOT mention the background check that a firearm owner MUST undergo. All firearms sales through a LICENSED DEALER must have a BATFE Form 4473 filed prior to releasing the weapon to the customer. Also you seem to be rather ignorant , disturbingly so im my opinion, of the laws that are already in place. To be exact, the 1934 National Firearms Act, the 1968 Gun Control Act, and the 1986 National Fireams Act ( which includes the Hughs Amendment).

For example ( and this is for an online source for firearms),

How to Buy a Pistol or a Rifle

Federal firearms laws prevent the sale of a weapon from Impact directly to an individual in another state (we are located in Utah). We must ship your firearm directly to an FFL Dealer near you. The steps to follow are:
( Insert Buying guide for Title 1 Firearms)

As far as buying a ‘ M-16 ‘ that falls under the 1986 NFA act and as such has its own rules,

How to Buy Machine Guns, Suppressors, Short-Barreled Shotguns, A.O.W.’s and Shrt Barreled Rifles, as Regulated by the ATF and the National Firearms Act, (NFA.)
1.It is a common misconception that machine guns cannot be owned by law-abiding citizens. This comes from the creation of a variety of confusing laws that have made purchasing a full-auto gun more difficult than purchasing a “normal” gun. But, if you can comply with the law, you may qualify to own a machine gun.

First a brief history: In May of 1986, certain laws went into effect that made it illegal for ‘civilians’ to own fully automatic firearms that were manufactured AFTER THAT DATE. Many fully automatic weapons manufactured, registered and tax paid BEFORE MAY, 1986, MAY BE OWNED BY AND SOLD TO INDIVIDUALS. The full-auto guns that may be owned by individuals are called ‘transferable’. Some states DO NOT allow machine gun ownership at all, no matter when the gun was made, but many states do.

To purchase a transferable machine gun, you must meet certain requirements (generally the same as when you purchase another gun, but with additional scrutiny), fill out special paperwork (called a ‘form 4′), and pay a $200, one-time, transfer tax. Every time a machine gun is transferred, the $200 tax must be paid– usually by the purchaser. The steps to take to purchase a transferable machine gun are:
( insert Class III buying guide )

So you see, the process for purchasing a gun is much more difficult and time consuming than this horrible example of agi-prop leads people to beleve.

I feel the need to point out at this time that I WORK in the ‘ Firearms Industry ‘ albeit as a licensed gunsmith, and I HAVE to follow these rules every day. I assure you that these processes are not something that ANYONE who is a licensed dealer will ignore or try to work around. While some dealers may not agree with them ( the laws), they are the law and any dealer who does not follow the law will be both out of a job and prosecuted for doing illegal acts.

  24. The toy gun is illegal in NYC, so is bringing it onto school property. For a toy gun to by NYC compliant, it can’t be a realistic color.

The sign on the cash register says “No $100 bills accepted” but the fella paid with “$100 bills”.

I left them a comment, it’s waiting for approval.

  25. Hmmmmmmm… this is interesting…….. you mean the pet store sold me a goldfish without doing a background check or a 72 hour waiting period?????? Cause that’s what I have to do for a handgun.

  26. Nice of mr Barry to show his drivers license complete with full name ,address ,dob,Id number to the whole Internet. What could possibly go wrong……

Hey if they make another video add your SS number and a credit card….

  27. Bwahahahahahaha!! It makes for a great comedy, nothing more.

Coming from a family teachers myself, I find the lack of truth and research to be appalling. But then again, what else should one expect from the unfortunate students of New York teachers.

  28. My comment hasn’t been approved, and I doubt it ever will be. So I took this stupidity apart on my blog, and also addressed their other anti-gun propaganda video on accidental shootings, which is just as lame.

    Goldfish: http://libertarianluna.blogspot.com/2013/06/lies-damn-lies-and-gun-control.html

    Accidental Shootings: http://libertarianluna.blogspot.com/2013/06/more-pathetic-propaganda-about-guns.html

Both pieces of video idiocy are embedded at those links.

  29. It reminds me of crime novels where lazy authors go “he whipped out his revolver, flicked off the safety, and blew the scumbag into the next county”. Surely even a few minutes of finding out what the truth of the situation is, rather than spending hours playing with cardboard “shop” accoutrements (and when I was 10 I used to enjoy making stuff out of cardboard), would have shown these students that their teachers didn’t know jack. Maybe that’s what the teachers were hoping – don’t let the little kids see past the magic curtain into the real world. Kudos for the effort, at least they’re trying, but a few facts would have deflated all this puffery. Not a good learning experience. I suspect these kids will remain morons with this level of teacher support. I’m with Ralph!

  30. Idea: Go buy goldfish. Document the transaction. Once you’ve proven how easy it is to buy said fish take him home and flush him down the toilet.
I recall a similar story where a reporter built his own AK and then destroyed it upon completion of his report.
