It’s been a while since we’ve checked in with Nutnfancy. That said, I’ve been running one of his early videos in the background since the last time and it just finished. Luckily, this review of the Savage Axis isn’t War and Piece. Would I take this piece to war? Sure. Why not? Beats a club. Of course, I wouldn’t want to be beaten by any club that would have me for a member. Or something like that. Which reminds me: has this guy ever [intentionally] told a funny joke? Still, you can’t say Nutnfancy isn’t comprehensive. ‘Cause that would be a double negative.

  1. “Of course, I wouldn’t want to be beaten by any club that would have me for a member.”

    Careful. Phrasing…

  2. I have only ever made it through one of his videos end to end. It was a gun that I own already, the Sig P238, and I did it just to see if I could. It was touch and go there for a minute, but I made it.

  3. Is anyone else getting email updates of new comments? I’ve not gotten a single one all day today. The subscription emails show up, but nothing after that.

  4. Havent bothered with him since the Ruger Gunsite Scout review. Im not gonna beat him up too hard over it here, but lets just say I realized he isnt anyone whose opinion I should value enough to sit through one of his TV Miniseries-legnth videos.

45 minute YouTube video with no pretty girls? Only Hickok45 is gonna keep me interested that long.

  5. I don’t get the perpetual whining that Nutnfancy’s videos are too long. He’s not the only YouTube product reviewer. There are tons of videos that are 3 minutes long that consist of “here’s me unboxing a new gun, I’ll safety check it 40 times say I like it, shoot it a bit, come back and talk about cleaning.” If you want more than that, then you can watch Nutnfancy’s videos and he will go in depth and explain with great detail why he does / doesn’t like a video. Fast forward if you don’t like something or just don’t watch it. I like his stuff.

    • Sorry, but 50 minutes (which is standard for Nutnfancy) is way too long for a video. Do it in 20 minutes and that’s manageable. His videos would improve because he would need to write tighter, more focused scripts and edit his videos better.

  6. I don’t know about you guys but I actually like the information in his videos. He actually shoots the guns for a farily lengthy period of time before reviewing them to see how they function. He plays the video evidence on malfunctions, describes (and shows actual groups) when he discusses the accuracy, and gives his own personal opinion on a gun.

I don’t think i have ever seen a negative remark on a firearm reviewed on gunblast and a lot of the videos have a longer intro and closing cinematic that actual firearm review.

Nutn isn’t for everyone but he does have the most technical and indepth reviews that I have seen.

I consider GB an extension of each manufacturer’s product pr release providing more detailed information to consider. I don’t trust or distrust it. I would never buy anything based on the GB review alone.

  7. So, I’m not the only guy who skips Gunblast now, he’s a salesman with no gumption to tell it like it is. Nutnfancy is not always correct BUT he does give food for thought, usually though he’s very good.

  8. NutnFancy is indeed longwinded, but I do appreciate his honesty. It’s funny to me when he slips into skater/surfer bro talk. It’s not often you hear someone say they were “unstoked” about a rifle. LOL

  9. I like Nutnfancy, but only when I’m really interested in a gun. If I’m seriously looking into buying a specific gun, I go check if he has a review cause that thing is beyond in depth and I want to know everything about the gun before I put the cash down. Now, if I’m just looking to see what new toys are out there, or check out a new gun just to see how it shots and stuff, I go for Hickok45. He shows the gun, give a little history, shots the hell out of some soda bottle and life is good. I get that Nutnfsncy isn’t for everyone, but he definitely dishes out a ton of info if that’s what you’re looking for. If not, just move along and leave him be.

  10. I stick with Military Arms Channel for reviews. Tim says it like it is, gives some history, some instruction on the workings of the firearm, lists points rather than rambling, and gives more information in fifteen minutes than NutnFancy gives in fifty.

Turns out you can get a lot said rather quickly when you don’t put “dude” and “like” between every other word.

  11. Like said above, If you are researching a specific gun that you are wanting to purchase, Nutnfancy can’t be beat. Yes he’s long winded, but the shear amount of information and “from the source” data he provides is second to none. I definitely wouldn’t watch one of his videos just for fun, but i’m definitely someone who likes to know EXACTLY what i’m spending my “gun money” on.

    • +1. He definitely goes into depth on whatever piece of gear he’s reviewing. I would add that his multipart Glock and Sig 226 vids and the multipart shotgun comparison were excellent primers from the perspective of someone relatively new to guns (myself).

  12. How can you not love a guy who goes into a Shot show booth and tells the people to their face that some product they make sucks?

Either way, he gets the most views and he gets the most access, he gets major booth videos showing multiple products with major people within the company explaining it, and he has the tenacity while getting such access to tell them something sucks.

Vs everyone else getting some monotone sales guy.

    • Kel-Tec sent their Shot Show booth guy all the way to Utah or wherever to shoot the KSG with Nutnfancy and his friends. They weren’t nice to the sales rep. They weren’t mean either, but he certainly didn’t get any special treatment for his troubles.

  13. I think his vids are really good actually. I’ll pull them up on the iphone and listen while i do the dishes, mow the lawn etc. I appreciate the detail and respect his honesty. Not a ‘NAVY SEAL’ but he doesn’t claim to be and says as much (and I could care less). Also has some cool philosophy videos, some really great camping videos, and good lord- if you are into knives he’s a knife nut. I know it’s not everyones cup of tea, but i really dig watching him making a fire in a snowstorm while I’m trying to fall asleep (so I can go to my shi**y job in the am). Better than anything on cable.

Hickock -yeah i like him and i watch but its usually just “yuk, yuk yuk, BOOM BOOM BOOM, life is good”. I enjoy it but they are very different.

    “Your mileage may vary– dude”

  14. I like his videos despite the fact that he is looong winded.
I hope that rifle he did the tabletop review is not the one he test fired as the scope rings were not installed evenly. It’s not right to judge accuracy with a bottom shelf scope.
