Now you’re talking. Or, more to point, Saul Alinsky’s talking. This ad is straight out of the Rules for Radicals‘ playbook. To wit: “RULE 13: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” In other words [via theredhunter.com], “Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.” If you want to see just how effective, click here to see the Washington Post’s fact checkers squirm, weasel, waffle and evade. A suggestion for the NRA’s next ad campaign: a) do it again! b) out Jerry Thompson, the supposed gun owner who claims that the NRA doesn’t speak for him). No one knows who he is. moveon.org set him up. The NRA should knock him down.

  1. According to the wikipedia link, you quoted Rule 13… not 12.

On topic, Joe sure made it easy for the NRA. Talk about a slow ball.

  2. About damn time they did something like that.

More please with Leland Lee (watch his debates, he’s an idiot.) or Feinstein, she’s a female canine in human form or even Obama as well…

    Turn up the heat!

  3. I’ve said it before in a similar debate – The best weapon for home defense is the one you are most comfortable bringing to bear in a timely and accurate way, and not, in fact, the one the gov’t says it is comfortable with you using.

If people would just acknowledge that this could all be over soon…..for now.

  4. Bill Clinton said it well: “Do you have any idea how many vital decisions are being made everyday by people who have no idea in the living daylights what they are talking about?” It’s rare that a state actor tasked with a mission makes it so blatantly obvious that he doesn’t know even the basics of the material or the relevant laws. (Ralph, I’ll save you the trouble: “No, it’s not that rare…”)

  5. Joe Biden isn’t the idiot. We are.

Oh sure, we can have a laugh at Joe Biden, but how many times have you heard his advice given over the past several decades in gun shops? Probably a lot.

This whole Joe Biden thing makes us feel smug and superior, but is a distraction from the important issues. The anti-gunners must be laughing at us.

How much time and effort spent on this video could have gone into making a commercial about David Gregory, who broadcast his crime on TV? The Washington DC attorney general went on the record that prosecuting Gregory for violating a gun law “would not promote public safety…nor serve the best interests of the people“.

Think about that. The DC Attorney General said that enforcing gun control laws “would not promote public safety…nor serve the best interests of the people“!

That was six weeks ago, and I have yet to see an NRA-produced ad making that point. Think about the impact of a commercial on national TV with Chuck Norris saying something like “No new gun control laws as long as David Gregory remains a free man“.

Such a commercial would have two effects:

    (1) show how stupid the laws are
    (2) show how the power elite will be are exempt from them

But the NRA doesn’t have the guts to do it, because Gregory is entitled to “professional courtesy” as a Washington insider.

    • Silly anonymous, of COURSE the power elite are exempt! Clearly they are entitled to use their ornate, ceremonial double-barrel shotguns to fire warming blasts from their stately balconies to ward off we, the serfs of this newly born class system. After all, we don’t have anything really worth protecting do we? We are but mortals, living amongst intellectually superior gods. Joe Biden, David Gregory, and Brady McBradenstein III of Bradytopia cometh! Layeth downeth thine arms of strife, O’ ignorant serfs, for the blinding light of Utopia cometh! (Errr, fvcketh?)

  6. The country’s in the very best of hands. Smug ignorance, the face of an entire political class.

Not sure how Alinskyesque this was, though, being accurate. Truth was not his strong suit.

  7. LOL @ that WaPo fact check article on the ad. They stated all the laws and anyone would agree with 90% of their article that warning shots are indeed a bad idea and likely illegal. At the end though they manage an attempt at an about face to try and say that the DA would probably not bring up charges anyway since they were hired by Biden’s son…really?
