According to the Supreme Court, the police don’t have a legal obligation to protect you. So when it get rights down to it, you’re on your own. True story. The number of times the police arrive at a violent crime as it’s happening are far outweighed by the number of times they’re called to a clean-up on aisle three.
Now I’m not saying armed self-defense is the be-all end-all of crime prevention or intervention. As the two interviewees above let slip, the ballistically besieged Little Rock community is facing some serious cultural issues.
For one thing, there’s not enough love. (Is there ever?) For another, there’s a “no snitching” ethos afoot. While it’s not mentioned here, I don’t think it’s too big a stretch to imagine that Little Rock’s D-rated public education system (Arkansas rates 41st in the nation) leads to a lack of gainful employment, which increases the number of people who turn to drugs and crime.
Speaking of snitches and such, gangs. If the city’s law-abiding residents want their police force to reduce crime, they should demand that the po-po take on Little Rock’s gangs.
As the infamous-at-the-time 1994 HBO documentary Gang War: Bangin’ in Little Rock revealed, the city’s position at the intersection of two major interstates (from Los Angeles and New York) make it a nexus for drug trafficking. Enter the Bloods and Crips. Still.
The bottom line: the police are not the answer to violent crime. Neither are armed Americans. But until and unless the root causes of violence are addressed, each individual is well-advised to protect themselves by the most efficient means possible: by force of arms.
I live in arkansas, and frequent LR. during that movie and Clintons AWB Little Rock was the PERFECT example of how well gun control works to keep everyone safe. Not at all.
A lawmaker in AR is trying to push a mandatory vaccine bill because of a mumps outbreak that is essentially within the vaccinated community. Not to mention the company that makes the mumps vaccine is being sued for fraud by former employees alleging the company faked the efficacy tests for the mumps vaccine. More common sense legislation from our duly elected officials.

Which begs the question: Where do people who lack gainful employment find the disposable income for drugs? And cigarettes, and alcohol, and hookers? Just askin’.

I live and work in Little Rock. I can attest that these things do in fact exist. However, there is a stark contrast between individual high schools and even courses inside those schools. Having attended Little Rock Central High (the famous one), I received a far superior education (ranked top 20 of all high schools in the nation, at the time) than many who attend one of the other 27 schools, or are not in the accelerated or advanced placement courses. While there is indeed crime, and gang crime, they are mostly confined to a single area (as is common). Cops won’t go there (as is common). They’re all too busy writing speeding tickets to do anything that actually benefits society.

Boy, you sure do not understand how the Progressive mind works. First off, all those speeding tickets are a huge benefit to society in the Progressive mind. (All those speeding tickets allegedly keep our roads safe and provide revenue for all those sorely needed social entitlements!) Second, writing speeding tickets means that police are always closer to us and actually enhances their ability to respond instantly, INSTANTLY I TELL YOU, to 911 calls … at least that is how it works in the Progressive mind.
In other words Progressives simply love the always benevolent, always loving, always competent, always capable, always powerful, always good government that cares for them cradle to grave … and those Progressives will vomit as many words as it takes (whether truthful/accurate or not) to browbeat everyone else into agreement.
Sounds like it’s becoming Chicago South. Let’s connect the dots and ignore rational explanations as to why, and then hire Rahm Emmanuel to be a consultant. Things will get better for sure.
Tool up! Unless you have a super special last name, nothing will ever be given to you in this country. Whether it’s better schools, less poverty, safer streets- appeal to the authorities for help (like the citizens in the post), but also take action yourself.
Violence and criminality will never be absent. Make yourself and your community a hard target, where criminals are afraid to operate in the open. And forget this no snitchin’ crap. Criminals don’t snitch on each other (unless it suits them); citizens can, and should, turn in criminals…there is no dishonor in doing so. And if his gangbanger buddies have a problem with it…annihilate them when they come to your home.

While I40 does go out to the west coast, no interstate highway goes to NYC from Little Rock. The only other interstate out of Little Rock is I30, which starts in LR, goes through Amarillo, through Dallas, and ends at Ft. Worth.
I55 starts in NOLA, passes through Memphis, and crosses I40 in West Memphis, AR at the Mississippi River, and ends in Chicago. The crossing of I40 and I55 is about 180 miles east of LR.
That said, I40 is a major drug route, running from Barstow, CA (about 60 miles east of LA) to Wilmington, DE. About 40 miles west of Wilmington I 40 crosses I95, which gives access to the entire east coast.
I learned in Fulton, Missouri in 1979 that the police have no duty to protect me. They said so, although they qualified that to say that as soon as one of us (threatened by the room temperature IQ “hit man” of the drug dealer across the hall) was killed, they’d spring into action. The Calloway County Sheriff told us the same thing… while counseling us to arm OURSELVES in legal self-defense.
The first news story I remember from 1986 when I moved to the Cleveland area was a Black woman and her children, trapped in their home by a mob of drunken Whites, bombarding it with rocks, bottles and fireworks. After numerous futile calls to the Cleveland PD, she called a friend who showed up to give the mob a “whiff of grape” with his 12ga. pump. The police of course arrested HIM. Fortunately, his attorney subpoenaed the 911 tapes… which recorded the police and dispatchers joking about the family’s peril. The friend rightfully walked.
Memorize:
* Police have no duty to protect you as an individual.
* Police have no legal liability if they fail to protect you as an individual.
* Police have virtually no physical ability to protect you as an individual.
Police don’t protect individuals. They draw chalk outlines around individuals who can’t or won’t protect themselves.
If you’re unwilling or unable to protect YOURSELF, you’re just not going to get protected AT ALL.
Anybody who tells you different is LYING.
Calling 911 is a formality. Never use the phone when your life is at stake right then. If you do not believe in having a firearm, at least have a baseball bat. A machete with a 20 inch well honed blade would be even better. Use both hands to swing it. You will have to be forewarned and on top of the threat if it involves a firearm that, of course, would be illegal for you to defend yourself with. This “firearm free” is not about your safety, it is about the safety of those that would do you harm. Socialist strong holds do not have to ban firearms, just ban the use of them, for any reason. The very act of defending your life will make you a criminal.

I once saw an episode of the TV show “Cold Case Files”. A guy was in his bedroom with his wife and heard a noise. He picked up a bat and went to investigate… whereupon a home invader who was clearly better with a knife than the husband was with a bat, stabbed him in the heart, killing him.
The home invader then proceeded to rape the wife, set the house on fire and make his escape.
The police (of course) treated the wife, who survived, as the lead subject for some period of time.
Years later, the real murderer was found, already incarcerated elsewhere.
The widow’s closing comment was that she wished she’d been killed in the attack.

They have the habit of posting stories about accidental shootings inside homes, as if they want to discourage homeowners from arming themselves…
Then those prosecutors are aiding and abetting criminals, abnd should be dealt with.
With regards to the schools are they D rated because they are that bad or because of the cultural peer pressure not to succeed in school?
Both, however, the magnet schools and AP programs are pretty good despite the criminally lazy mindset that makes Little Rock the shithole it is today.
Law enforcement is a reactive job, as is fireman, paramedic, etc. Generally, we despond until we have been notified of an incident, and that usually comes after the perps have left the scene. How often do paramedics arrive on scene in time to see a motorist hit a pedestrian? How often do firemen arrive in time to see a car catch fire?
Some activity is proactive, such as drug suppression. Most often, these operations are the result of citizen complaints and/or the stupidity of criminals not changing their modus operandi after being busted previously.
Those who complain about the cops not being there appear to think cops have ESP and can read criminal minds.
