Schools around the country went out of their way yesterday to accommodate and support students cutting class to protest for civil rights infringement through more gun control laws. Even a struggling district like Baltimore’s (graduation rate: 61%) managed to scrounge up enough scarce funding to pay for buses to transport the truants to D.C. to attend the capitol’s dog and pony show.

But students intent on supporting the right to keep and bear arms were persona non grata. Take, for instance, what happened to one young skull full of mush yesterday in the great white north:

On Wednesday, a student at a high school in Minnesota joined his classmates who were participating in the National School Walkout and was singled out and removed by his principal for holding a sign that said, “Guns Don’t Kill People, People Kill People.”

Expressing that opinion was apparently beyond the pale. As another student described the incident:

Kids at our school today walked out, in honor of the 17 students killed in Florida. Students held signs that said, “Arm our teachers” they had two signs. A student walked out without saying a word peacefully put up his sign which said “guns don’t kill people, people kill people” he was escorted off the property by our principal and threatened to be put into a police car. This violates the first amendment and makes me sick that they can do whatever they want. Please make this go viral.

Minnesota: where the wisdom of our precious next generation should be not only heard, but listened to. As long as they’re spouting an approved point of view.

  1. That’s the new playbook (the same playbook from 70-odd years ago)- Unless you agree with *them*, they will not allow you to speak.

    ‘Brownshirt 101’.

Three more steps down the road…

  2. The totalitarian left in this country is all for diversity as long as it doesn’t involve opinions and views contrary to their theology. No wonder this country’s public education system has gone down the toilet. Kids aren’t taught to think rationally. They’re taught that the State’s power must increase at the expense of individual liberty. All hail the State.

  3. At my son’s high school south of Denver he described it as two angry mobs. LOTS of kids with Gadsden and confederate flags in a screaming match with the anti-gun crowd. No media coverage to be found. All the pictures are of the crying kids with anti-gun slogan signs. He didn’t participate, instead choosing to avoid stupid people acting stupid in a stupid place.

  4. Get used to it. Look what happened in Pennsylvania’s election. A republican lost in a republican district. The senate race in Alabama was lost to a democrat. Alabama is as red as it gets. We are going to lose the house in 2018 so get used to saying Nancy Pelosi is our speaker of the house. We will lose the senate in 2018 so get used to saying Chuck Schumer, senate president. You can say that the candidates in these states were weak but the republicans either did not come out or voted democrat. If they control the house and senate and run Kamela Harris or Corey Booker, then the Second Amendment will fall a lot sooner than anyone would have believed. They will start with the AR’s, move to the semi-autos, revolvers, bolt actions until we’re left with single shot shotguns and two shot derringers. (Better stock up on the Bond Arms line of products.) We have become fragmented. We complain about the NRA, but they got us here. We should be behind them 100%. Same with the GOA and SAF even the NAGR. I belong to them all. I also belong to my state rifle association. I unfortunately live in Illinois and I was shocked to learn that the ISRA only has 25,000 members with over 2 million FOID card holders and over 200,000 conceal carry permit holders. People just assume they will take care of things without joining or contributing. That’s why we are losing. I belong to Florida Carry. I don’t live or visit Florida but I want to show support. Too many of us are complacent and it will be gone mark my words. I keep reading posts that say that they won’t vote for certain republicans. Then who the f*** you gonna vote for? A democrat? An independent? Or not vote at all? All are votes for the democrats. We gotta get it together soon and start backing the people and organizations that have kept us in the fight.

  5. This comment is in reply to Larry McNeal above. (The “Reply” button is not working for some reason.)

Larry McNeal said, “People just assume [various gun rights political action committees] will take care of things without joining or contributing. That’s why we are losing.”

Um, no. A political action committee is irrelevant when a strong majority of voters oppose the agenda of that political action committee and elect their preferred politicians to office.

  6. Surprisingly, the quite large Public HS my kids attend, which has its share of low key lib teachers, sent an email on Tuesday to all parents stating school position on the “walkout”: the school doesn’t condone it, sponsor it, support it in any way. All students walking out would be hit with an unexcused absence that could not be removed. Under any circumstance. Nice!

I was impressed. Some ventured out, and administrators were there logging the absences.

  7. Around here the school administration and teachers MARCHED all the students to a central area and MADE them hold candles and signs and give speeches.

  8. Ya know, this was exactly what society was like before fascists and dictators came to power throughout history.
You did NOT say anything positive about Jews in Germany after 1933.
You did NOT say anything positive about capitalism in Russia after 1917.
    Now?
Kids expressing their (legal) opinion, are threatened with being put in a police car?

“If only we had arms, if only we could defend ourselves…”

  9. “Ban the AR-15! My Teacher needs a raise! My Teacher needs more vacation time! My Teacher needs a better contract!!!! —Brought to by The Local Teachers Union…..”

  10. Democrats are the enemy. They do not represent the constitution and should all be banned from upholding the constitution they are against. They denounced their citizenship and are not Americans!

  11. This is also in reply to Larry McNeal. I too live in Illinois. There is NO ONE to vote for. I live in Crook county. I support gun orgs. as my $ permits. The NRA is one I support BUT I’m not happy with them lately or Donnie. We’re screwed…trying to move a mile east to Indiana. The reply system is abysmal.

  12. Same here AZ here I come!! Screw Illinois commies and their absolved broke state.. Chiraq is the prime example of what democrat commies and snake rinos are capable of.. Time we split this country into free people and ruled morons.. We all know democrats won’t last in their gun free zones so let the split begin!!!

  13. Like uncommon_sense, the reply button isn’t working for me.

    @Joe R.,

Isn’t saying “Death to communists” worlds worse than saying people at your protest can only have signs that support your protest? Shouldn’t Americans welcome diversity of thought? And even if not, how can we call ourselves responsible gun owners if we’re calling for the murder of people who disagree with us?

It’s not exactly convincing to say, “Your honor, I think I detected a communist principle in the late Mr. Smith, so I killed him because what if a) he was a commie, b) he voted a commie into power, and c) that commie regime threatened my life?”

  14. Just goes to show that the folks commenting here were right. Is someone doesn’t support your 2a right, why would they support any other right.

    Molon labe.

  15. In Washington State, the governor went to a Seattle high school to stand in support of the students. On school property, a gun free zone, protesting against firearms, while protected by his armed security detail.

  16. The reply button is broken.

To Larry McNeal: A mentality of “My party, right or wrong” is scarcely better than “My husband, drunk or sober”. It’s clear enough that Republicans, and more importantly, constitutionalists, need to field better candidates or else they’ll suffer more of the same. Praying that people in other states will follow some sort of party-line purity has already proven to be foolishness.

    • “No gun control “no school imprisonment by teachers or police officers. kids need to be impowered by their own decisions making. Schools need to go away and kids need more at home schooling or streaming. We don’t need are children’s rights taken away because the decorates want to rule the world. The Democratic Party is the reason for the walkouts. The want to control everything lead are kids to oblish their rights.

  17. Isn’t saying “Death to communists” worlds worse than saying people at your protest can only have signs that support your protest?

Yes. Yes it is. Especially since we’re talking about a high school walkout, and not the Tet Offensive. Good grief, people.

  18. Larry McNeal: (since reply isn’t working)

A Republican lost a district Trump won in PA because the Democrat figuratively embraced Trump/Trumpism and basically ran as a centrist Republican and never mentioned he was a Democrat in his ads or on his signs. You should think of it more as a Republican primary. Additionally, the Republican establishment wrote off Saccone as not being able to win and did little to help him for the majority of the race. If they had helped, he probably would have won.

What Lamb does in Washington remains to be seen, but he’ll probably fall right in line despite running against Nancy and his own party’s platform.

  19. The gun Community needs to get a backbone.

It needs to learn to not be afraid to be called a name. It needs to learn to stand up for the rights of children, the most vulnerable in the gun community. The ones that cannot defend themselves ones, who can’t ask for gun training. The children are vulnerable and they have been vulnerable.

White homosexual gun grabbers like Tom Ammiano know YOU ARE AFRAID OF HIM. He knew you would do nothing when he destroyed the rifle teams in the schools in the city of San Francisco.

He knows you are afraid of him. And you sat there and did nothing while another piece of the second amendment was destroyed and taken away from school children.

This is why we are at this point in our society with a lack a second amendment education in the public school system which included rifle teams.

    https://calwatchdog.com/2013/01/29/anti-gun-lawmakers-lead-hearing-today/

“Ammiano was instrumental in getting rid of San Francisco’s High School competitive .22 cal rifle teams, and worked to put an end to the junior ROTC program in San Francisco’s High Schools. Ammiano supported the ban on allowing gun owners to carry an unloaded gun in public. “Whether a gun is loaded or not, it’s still an act of intimidation and bullying,” Ammiano said.”

  20. Ian In Transit:
I still haven’t been able to find any coverage showing conflicting student groups, some for and some against.
    Any updates?

  21. Forcing kids to protest and spew propaganda for a political cause…isn’t that what the Nazi’s did to their children? (Don’t answer, I know the answer. That is exactly what happened.) I wonder if the Democrat Party will form a youth organization that will be unquestionably loyal to their leaders. I wonder if they will have a catchy name like the DNC Youth or Hillary Youth. Hmm, maybe they will have the kids report on parents should they be disloyal to the cause. I remember that a few schools did that already, buy I digress.

  22. Y’all don’t know the full story. This kid was never threatened with being put into a police car, I was there!

  23. To all young people viewing this; Please take the time to read this entire message. What you are witnessing here is an example of “state control” of a narrative. By “state” I mean governing institution at a local, county, state or national level. When the state controls the narrative (in this case advocating gun control) you must comply with the narrative or you are rejected. This violates the principles on which the United States of America was founded, specifically the 1st Amendment of the Constitution. You are heading into a era (which is being pushed worldwide by architects of a global agenda) to eliminate your rights as a citizen of a sovereign nation and turn you into a controlled global citizen. In this new world (which is based on Marxist Communism and Fascism) you will have no individual rights. There will be no “Bill of Rights” in this world. There will be no right to life, liberty or the pursuit of happiness in this world. You will do what the state tells you to do and you will do it how the state tells you to do it. Lets say … for instance … you want to be a doctor. But the state tells you … no, we have enough doctors already. What the state needs is plumbers because we are building housing for state workers on a 10 year construction project. We are going to train you to be a plumber. What would you do? If you refuse the state’s “offer” you will be rejected and you will be neither a plumber or a doctor. You may be put in that housing they are building and called out as a day laborer or worse … forced into homelessness. You may think what I am saying is far fetched. If so … remember this … this has already happened and it took the U.S. and its allies 6 years and 50 million deaths to stop it.

  24. This whole situation just shows that Teacher’s Unions need to be completely dismantled and school choice needs to be a viable option.

The Unions are nothing more than the indoctrination arm of the Democratic party and as we have been seeing, the Democratic party has been fighting as hard as possible to stop school choice from happening. They don’t want a private competitive system because they know that what they offer is not a true education, it is obedience training.

  25. Adam,

Unions control the democrat party with money.
Unions were taken over by communists decades ago.
The democrat party was infiltrated by communists in the 1940s and they now control it.

The rank and file of most unions are not communist and are generally pretty conservative. I’m not sure how that applies in the NEA (teachers union), they mostly toe the leftist line.

  26. Mr. McNeal,
I also belong to the same 2nd Amendment Rights organizations as you plus a couple more.
Since Jeanne Ives has an A rating by the NRA I’ll be voting for her. This is even though from what I can tell the deck is being stacked against her. So I’m not sure even if she did manage to get in. I’m not sure if she’d be able to change around the down ward spiral this state is in.
With that in mind I do have a backup plan as I have a cousin who has just this last year moved to AZ. I went to visit his new place late last fall.
This is not a move that I take lightly as I have relatives and family members which includes my eldest daughter buried in the Abraham Lincoln Veterans Memorial Cemetery just south of Joliet, but if things don’t start turning round in this state I’m gone.

  27. What rings loudest is the understanding this political grandstanding and virtue signalling were all done on the Tax Payer’s dime. Did not do anything but use minor children illegally for the purpose of destroying the second amendment.
