The quote of the day is presented by Guns.com.

Robert Francis O’Rourke made a campaign stop in Newtown, Connecticut on Wednesday. There, the anti-gun left’s most prominent proponent of forced firearms confiscation got a little more pushback community input that he bargained for from local resident Rebecca Carnes.

They’re here to hijack this town and to try to make an issue out of getting guns out of good peoples’ hands that can make a difference. …

What do you have to say about mental health? What do you have to say about urban violence. The Democrats have been in charge of urban communities and cities for decades. The Democrats have failed.

The Democrats don’t care about you sir. That’s why he’s at Sandy Hook. He doesn’t care. It’s bullshit.

  1. So one heckler and the rest of the room gave him hugs?

The heckler is right but aside from that one heckler it looks like he was well received.

    • Of course he was well received. Newtown is nothing but rich, out of touch white people. They’re scared of what they don’t understand.

        • I can imagine you do then, please educate us on the inside and outside of the of that fine community if you would be so kind. The odds that anyone posting on here actually lives in Newtown is fairly low given it isn’t a particularly large community.

        • I don’t live there, but I do have internet access. I also make comments on this site about guns I don’t own. Is that okay with you?

          Newtown demographics:
          95%white
median income for a household in the town was $90,193, and the median income for a family was $99,192

Much whiter and wealthier than your average American town.

        • I’m familiar with the town. It is not entirely populated by rich, out of touch white people. While it does tend to lean left, it isn’t overwhelmingly so.

      • Dude,

While I agree that many people (everywhere, not just Newtown, Connecticut) are out-of-touch, I do not agree that their primary motivator is fear of what they do not understand. Rather, I believe their primary motivators are emotion, fantasy, and whimsical notions of “virtue”.

About half of all people adopt their positions because of feelings, fantasy, and “virtue”. To such people, neither truth nor facts matter. Neither does right nor wrong. They simply advocate and/or pursue whatever they want.

Such people will vomit words in “support” of their desires if confronted. Their words are nothing more than an effort to assuage their own guilt/shame, to resonate with others and win them over, or to shout-down people who do not agree with them.

Emotionally-driven people have various reasons for supporting civilian disarmament. For some, they like dictating what other people can do. For others, they simply won’t be armed for self-defense and want everyone else to be just as vulnerable as they are. Still others don’t like being responsible for themselves and delude themselves into thinking that their choice to be unarmed will somehow be a better/safer choice if laws appear to make it harder for both good people and criminals to acquire firearms. Other people are criminals and want their victims to be weaker. Yet other people abhor violence so much that they even denigrate righteous violence in self-defense and demand that no one have the ability to exact violent self-defense (which precludes firearms). Still others argue that a perfect world has no crime and disarming the populace declares loud and clear that we must move toward that perfect world no matter the cost (or something to that effect).

I firmly believe that we cannot persuade such people to change their positions. First of all, we cannot reason with them because facts and truth are irrelevant to them. Second of all, their position (whatever their rationale may be for disarming the populace) is flat-out wrong and admitting that they are wrong is extremely painful on an emotional level. To put that emotional pain level into perspective, admitting that they are wrong is on par with the emotional pain that they would experience if they lost a limb in a traumatic injury. Needless to say, virtually no one would ever voluntarily submit to a traumatic injury that would cause them to lose a leg or an arm. Neither will they voluntarily admit and accept that their rationale for civilian disarmament is wrong. That is why we see time-and-again that the only thing that turns a civilian disarmament proponent into a self-defense proponent is an equally emotionally painful event such as being raped, severely beaten, or stabbed/shot. And even then, those events will only convert some faction of civilian disarmament proponents to self-defense proponents.

        • Well put. I agree, but I would add to your list that people often fear what they don’t understand. Safe, privileged people that don’t hunt or target shoot have no need for guns. They hear about people being killed with guns, both intentionally and accidentally, and they hear from their leaders that they trust how dangerous these items are. You almost can’t blame them for being afraid of guns.

You even said yourself that some people are “converted” once they experience a rape, mugging, etc. Sometimes all it takes is for a rational person to hear both sides of the argument. Read stories about people recently switching from dem to repub. They admit they were previously ignorant.

        • Dude,

I agree that some people are fearful due to their ignorance (meaning lack of experience/education, not foolishness) and would change their position if they had better facts and experiences.

Sadly, I believe they are a small percentage of the people who oppose responsible firearms ownership.

That does not mean that we should abandon efforts to educate people and take newbies out for a safe and fun first time shooting firearms, far from it. What it does mean is that we should recognize reality and consider possibilities for “Plan B”, “Plan C”, and so on.

        • Dude,

By the way, your comments compel me to mention an extremely important consideration in our overall understanding of human nature and our righteous efforts to strengthen our right to effective self-defense.

I mentioned that about half of people adopt positions based on facts, truth, and right-versus-wrong — and the other half of people adopt positions based on emotion, fantasy, and whimsical notions of virtue. I also mentioned that it is extremely emotionally painful for people who have emotional positions to admit that their positions are wrong. Here is an important insight:

For the fact based person, admitting that they are wrong is not a pleasant experience — no one likes to be wrong. At any rate they desire to know the truth and facts. They understand that sometimes we get bad information or overlook something. So, they acknowledge this error in their understanding of the world and are eager to correct their understanding of the world. Thus it was an annoyance.

For the emotional based person, admitting that they are wrong is devastating because it means acknowledging that their identity — their person — was wrong. Imagine how you would feel if you became a member of some club, openly advocated for that club, and donated to that club, honestly believing that the club was good and wholesome, only to find out later that you were inadvertently helping your club facilitate human trafficking and the sexual exploitation of 100s of thousands of 13 year-old girls. Acknowledging advocacy (even unwitting) of such a club would be a very painful emotional experience and you would be reluctant to do that. This sort of explains an emotional person, why it is hard form them to change, and how hard it is for them to change.

        • Rich white areas don’t fear urban violence experienced by cities with different demographics. Hence, they don’t understand why anyone would need a gun.

        • Dude,

Proximity to and understanding of urban violence has nothing to do with it. The people of Chicago and Cook County, Illinois are keenly and painfully aware of urban violence. And yet they keep supporting/voting for civilian disarmament? Why? Their childish emotional motivations that I described above.

If you want a contrasting situation, look at Detroit, Michigan. The people of Detroit and Wayne County, Michigan are equally aware of urban violence as well. And yet many people embrace their right to keep and bear arms for righteous self-defense. Even Detroit Police Chief James Craig openly encourages the people of Detroit to arm themselves and obtain concealed carry licenses. And, somehow, the local legacy mainstream media has shared his message. As a result, a LOT of people in the greater Detroit area are righteously armed and Detroit’s justified homicide rate is 20 times higher than the national average according to Tucker Carlson on a recent Fox News story.

Some people stubbornly cling to childish emotional positions. Others see the world for what it is and adjust their positions accordingly. There is no obvious rhyme nor reasons to explain it.

        • Yeah, the wealthy people of Chicago are mostly bitter partisan. Why would they want to disrupt the status quo that has worked for them for so long? They don’t give a rat’s ass about the poor black folks that are dropping like flies or they would demand change. (You know who else doesn’t care? Obama is like So long suckers!) 75% of Chicago murders are of black people, yet they only make up 33% of the population. I’m willing to bet the super privileged Chicago neighborhoods (not many blacks there) feel pretty safe, and removed from the urban violence next door.

          https://richblockspoorblocks.com/

        • Dude:

Lots of rich, left-wing white people own guns.

The dont want YOU to own one.

Elitist rule at its best. Has nothing to do with their understanding anything.

        • I agree, but I’m talking about the people that show up to these anti gun events. I’ve heard them interviewed. They’re completely ignorant about guns and the law. The vast majority of those people don’t own guns, and say they never would. They also can’t understand why anyone would want or need to own firearms.

        • Why and how is it always a racial thing with every thing??? Rich white neighborhoods don’t have crime??? Poor Black neighborhoods in Chicago are basically war zones??? WHY??? I have yet to hear anyone speak the truth on this. First off, it’s 99% black on black crime in Chicago!! I have yet to see the NAACP, BLM or any other hypocritical and supposed social justice organization go to Chicago to help out. WHY??? Because there’s no money or racial divide that they can use to keep America divided!! More gun deaths occur in Chicago, one of the largest and most gun restrictive cities in America, than all the mass shootings EVER in America! These are the truths that libiots can’t handle. If racism isn’t the problem in Chicago and gun control isn’t working, then the liberal house of cards begin to fall!!! Where’s Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and Louis Farakhan?? Why aren’t they in Chicago?? Because there’s no money to be made or racial injustice to perpetrate onto the American people. Now back to the neighborhood thing. The differences between supposed rich white neighborhoods and poor black neighborhoods in correlation to crime has nothing to do with race or wealth. It has to do with people being good neighbors and good people! It has to do with doing what is right and righteous! It means facing crime and criminals head on! It’s about everyone looking out for each other! its about trusting the police and turning in your niece or nephew selling crack on the corner. People have to clean up and take care of their own neighborhoods. You can’t blame someone, on the other side of the Railroad tracks for your neighborhood’s problems. Especially when you won’t help clean up the crime and other problems. It’s kind of the same thing with illegal immigrants. Instead of working to fix their own countries, they would rather sneak in and take advantage of America.

        • @d
Yes, poor black folks that are dropping like flies and comprise majority of murder victims in Chicago. But let’s tell the whole story. It’s not like the whites are going to drive to the ghetto to hunt them some blacks. Almost all PERPETRATORS of murders here in Chicago are also black with some Hispanics mixed in. No matter what the talking heads on leftist channels tell you, the white male is not nearly the most dangerous person you can meet.

      • This honest comment is going to upset many people. They can’t be honest with themselves and others in the gun community. The murder of so many rich white children in a nearly all white wealthy community is what has caused so much heartache in this country.

Th number of black kids shot dead in chiraq dwarfs the deaths in sandy hook. I wish more people were as brave as this white woman to stand up in public to a FAKE hispanic.

        fyi
Hispanics come in many different shades. Very light to very dark. Francis is a liar. And he knows it.

Things like this aren’t so suppose to happen to rich white people correct?
If your feelings are hurt reading this I suggest you check to see if you REALLY support the Second Amendment.

        • Yep. A 7 year old little girl in a bumble bee costume got shot last night and is seriously hurt and in the hospital. Chicago is a cesspool of awfulness for far too many people. And the really sad thing is this, something that surprised the hell out of me: you’ll find some of the nicest people in the world living there.

        • Of course. School shootings terrify them because it effects them, although the chance of it actually effecting them is tiny. Urban violence, eh who cares? Taking people’s guns, eh who needs guns anyway?

    • Sometimes one is enough, one is a start. I applaud her. If she was the only one I applaud her bravery for speaking out against Beto in, if you are right, a crowd of adherents.

    • He’s received a stupid amount of campaign contributions (though I’m sure they might be tapering-off by now). I say “stupid”, because that describes anyone who supports him.

      • O’Rourke and Harris are still visible (beyond their viability) only for the purpose of making the others’ batshit crazy rants seem rational and moderate by comparison. They provide cover for the Ds’ headlong rush beyond (what used to be) the tactical public self-restraint of the radical left. He’s paid to tag along and stretch the Overton Window for them, but he throws a rock through the window, kicks out the screen, wears the curtains as a cape, straps the shutters on his arms, and flaps them like wings as he runs down the street crowing like a rooster.

On the other hand, nobody took Trump seriously early on, and the D establishment ignored and discounted him until the polls closed. So we even need to keep an eye on the hair-on-fire lunatic fringe.

    • Beavis O’Rourke’s father in law is a multi Billionaire who has more money than even Trump has. Given that, it’s far more likely that he’s flying around the country in a private jet not sitting on a bus.

  2. The more he runs his mouth about the need to kick down the American people’s doors and confiscate their guns by force, the better. Frankly, I adore him for finally proving the lie democrats have been telling us for 50 years: “no one is trying to take your guns away!” Uh…. yes, yes they are. And thanks to Beta, this old lie is now finally dead.

    • Henry Bowman,

Democrats have been telling us for decades that they are trying to take our firearms away. The real problem is that no one — even staunch proponents of our inalienable right to keep and bear arms — wants to admit it to themselves. And the legacy mainstream media certainly is doing their best to keep it quiet.

Look at the open efforts to ban handguns in the 1970s and 1980s. Look at the open effort to ban military-style semi-automatic rifles (a.k.a. “assault weapons”) in the early 1990s. Watch the famous interview with Dianne Feinstein in 1995 where she discusses her desire to facilitate a vote in the United States Senate banning military-style semi-automatic rifles, “If I could have gotten 51 votes for an outright ban, picking up every one of them, ‘Mr. and Mrs. America, turn ’em all in,’ I would have done it.”

Democrats have been very clear about their goals for several decades. The truth of the matter is that we don’t want to acknowledge it because acknowledging it has extremely ugly implications.

      • Lyndon B. Johnson (LBJ), no doubt the worse, most abusive, dictatorial, and corrupt president in our nation’s shameful history, is rightly to blame for perpetrating anti-gun socialist/domestic tyranny (class warfare) against American gun owners clear back in 1968! Also, LBJ’s lieutenant then the the U.S. Senate: Thomas Dodd (D) of Connecticut! Along with Ted Kennedy, both the Earl Warren and Warren Burger Supreme Courts, including Mayor Richard Daley (D) of Chicago’s corrupt Cook County Democratic Machine, we as a nation continue to pay for their political crimes and atrocities, legacy of deceit and crookedness, and graft clear into the 21st century! The establishment news media, in lockstep with our government controlled socialist public schools, colleges, universities, and academia continue to “whitewash” these crooks, cover up for their crimes, and censor any dissent against them! If that isn’t criminal, what the Hell is it? Read on.

Klamath Falls Herald and News: Tuesday, September 27th, 2016/Letters To The Editor

Trump description would fit LBJ well

In her Sept. 20th letter Sandy Couch describes Donald Trump as “narcissistic and egotistical.” That is an accurate description of Lyndon B. Johnson (LBJ) , perhaps the worst president in American history. Unfortunately, an issue doesn’t disappear simply because it’s been ignored, censored, covered up and concealed for decades.

Also, the legacy of deceit, abuse of power, and political corruption that continues to curse America today! Case in point: “American Experience, “LBJ: Beautiful Texas/My Fellow Americans. A profile of Lyndon B. Johnson.” This recently aired on KSYS Channel 8.1 Aug. 15 and 16, respectively.

Consider the following the itemized links below:

Barr McClellan’s 2003 book: “Blood, Money, and Power: How LBJ Killed JFK”. Also posted at YouTube.

        J. Evett Haley’s 1964 book: “A Texan Looks At Lyndon: A Study In Illegitimate Power.” “How Persecution of American Christians Really Began in The US!” via the Constitution Party of Oregon (www.constitutionpartyoregon.net) posted under “Liberty In The News.”

Trump to Pastors: ‘Christians Have Been Silenced Like a Child” via Pat Robertson’s 700 club confronts the 1954 Johnson Amendment which remains blatant censorship.

“Lyndon Johnson Murdered John F. Kennedy” at YouTube. The oppressive 1968 Gun Control Act LBJ signed into federal legislation and its Nazi/ racist roots long since exposed by JPFO, Inc. at http://www.jpfo.org.

Finally, the Vietnam War (1961-1975). How LBJ and then Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara greatly escalated this “no win war” in Southeast Asia. And at a cost of 58,000 American lives. Lyndon B. Johnson likewise paved the way for Carter, Clinton, and Obama. And while Richard M. Nixon was no saint, he wasn’t even in the ballpark with Lyndon when it came to the above political atrocities, abuses, and crimes against the American people.

        My response to Henry Bowman.

    • I would bet they have already removed the firearms from her home. You know the old saying, the squeaky wheel get their guns removed. Or something like that.

  3. Gabbard has now surpassed joke O’Rourke in the polls, as well as Booker and Castro despite the media giving far more airtime and positive coverage of those guys. Next, I think she’ll surpass “top tier” candidate Kamala Harris. It’s hilarious just because the establishment and the media (same thing) don’t like her.

  4. & now back to the story article,,,, Well done Rebecca Cranes,,,👏👍🇺🇸 We need my people like her to stand up to STUPID POLITICIANS…

  5. Haven’t been hearing much from feinstein lately. I think senility has finally cought up with her and like biden she is no longer capable of making her point forcefully.

She is an agent of china that will be dead as mao soon.

  6. White black rich or poor. Beto doesn’t stand a snowballs chance in hell of being elected. So the more he opens his mouth the dumber he and Libitards look. The better. I don’t care 1 wit what someone with less then 2%support has to say about anything.

  7. Ah yes, dopey young women (not the one yelling at Beta). They continue to be willing to surrender our rights for the illusion of feeling safe.

  8. It all boils down to one thing for both sides. Do not believe anything anyone says 100%. Do your own research for the facts. If the facts are covered up or misrepresented then probably there is something amiss with the individual or group putting the facts out. It may be a full on cover up, they may just be idiots or somewhere in between. Listen, observe and most importantly, verify.

  9. I watched many MEN in Connecticut turning their AR15s when the government told them to. It seems the men are women, and the women are men in Connecticut. Now why aren’t there more of these types in the “gun community” addressing their representatives for redress of grievances?

Is the “gun Community” in Connecticut incapable, inept, unable to organized themselves and come out in numbers to face down this gun grabbing fascist? Are you just a bunch of P#ssies?
Perhaps Lady has her husbands balls. She sure knows “how to use” them.
And I like her a lot. (smile)

    fyi
If you think my words are harsh, you should see what I wrote about california gun owners.

    • You watched many men turn in their AR-15’s in Connecticut? Where? I don’t recall hearing that on the news. And no, I don’t think your words are harsh. I think you are an idiot and your words just prove it. One has to be a special kind stupid to shoot your big mouth off and insult a couple of million gun owners you don’t know and have never met.

      • The NRA TV News Channel with Ginny Simone, (over 80 videos), Reported on the registration of and, turn in of, AR15s. If you can find this video you can watch it for yourself. But you did not answer my questions?

…Is the “gun Community” in Connecticut incapable, inept, unable to organized themselves and come out in numbers to face down this gun grabbing fascist?…

You gave me the same attempt at “distraction” I got from California gun owners. They also expect outsiders to come and rescue them from themselves. Because they continue to vote for these gun grabbers. Because they want “FREE STUFF” from government.
