“Richard Matt, one of two escaped murderers from an upstate New York maximum-security prison, was shot and killed by officers involved in a massive three-week manhunt, three law enforcement sources said Friday,” reports ktla.com. According to cnn.com, Matt was spotted by a border patrol tactical team near the town of Malone. “A reported burglary led police to a cabin on Thursday in Malone, State Police spokesman Beau Duffy told CNN. Malone is about 14 miles northwest of Mountain View, where another cabin was burglarized.” One down, one to go.

I have it on good authority that all of the 156 rounds the cops fired at Richard Matt were intended to stop the threat. And one of them did.
But how many dogs did they kill during the take down?

Doesn’t matter. An escaped convicted felon does not have the same protections as a fleeing suspect under TN. v. Garner.

I wonder if he was killed by an officer with a NY defined assault weapon. I hear they are terrible for self defense, underpowered for hunting, over powered for everything else and scary looking. I would hate to learn he was scared while being shot.

Evaded capture while hiding out in a cabin used by the prison guards. Manhunt involving tens of thousands of police from multiple jurisdictions over a three week period. Could not find him. Citizen finds him. Now, don’t you feel much safer knowing that only the police and military should be armed?
Didn’t anyone tell this escaped prisoner that as a felon, he cannot legally have a gun. 🙂
Look at the money saved now that he’s room temperature. Brutal murderers like this one should just be put down.
