carbine

New from Inland Manufacturing, manufacturers of various M1 Carbine and M1911 reproductions, is an M1 “Carbine” that’s most certainly anything but historically-accurate. An even larger departure from tradition than suppressor-ready M1 Scout we recently reviewed. This legally-a-pistol .30 Carbine sports an AR grip, Sage EBR chassis, threaded 12″ barrel, and a Gear Head Works Tailhook brace. Press release follows . . .

New .30 Caliber Pistol for 2018
Available soon

MKS Supply, Inc., Dayton, OH, October, 2017 – Inland Manufacturing, makers of the incredibly popular Inland series of M1Carbines, debuts its new .30 caliber carbine pistol.

Inland’s new M30-P pistol with Gear Head Mod II Tail Hook Arm Brace is a highly modified version of Inland’s popular full size .30 caliber carbine. It is fitted into a special Sage Enhanced Battle Rifle tactical carbine stock, and comes with a Gear Head Works Mod II Arm Brace, Ergo Sure Grip pistol grip, and handy (1/2×28 tpi threaded) 12-inch barrel.

The Sage EBR M30-P chassis*1 is specially designed for this Inland pistol and when combined with the Mod II Tail Hook Arm Brace (fits the forearm, it is not a shoulder stock) makes effective one-hand shooting a breeze. The easily removable arm brace is incredibly quick to employ for a firm, positive fit for either right or left hand use.

Inland’s 12-inch barrel delivers excellent ballistics, especially with today’s modern ammunition. Each M30-P is shipped with one 10-round magazine and, like all Inland .30 caliber carbines and pistols, the magazine catch fits higher-capacity military and civilian magazines.*2

These features combine to make the Inland M30-P pistol a highly efficient, compact, robust, and accurate system.

    • .30 Carbine is a great intermediate cartridge with a lot of potential, as evidenced by that Hornady FTX load, but 90 cents per shot is out of line, and prohibits growth/interest in the caliber. Too bad that chambering is ignored by most gun (and ammo) manufacturers, it would be an excellent choice for a modern lightweight PDW (think micro Galil). Somebody really needs to make a high quality 20 (or even 25) round M1C magazine too…the choice between 15 or 30 round has gone on too long.

      • There was a 40 round .30 mag at one point. I’d sure like to see the round cheapen and become more popular too. I also wish there were still a few countries using 7.62×25 so there could be cheap surplus of that still. Oh well.

    • I dutifully support a free and unregulated market place…

At $1700 I hope Inland did their market research and found that there actually IS a market for this thing…cuz from my view I don’t see who, outside of a very small niche, would drop those bones on that thing when there are so many other and arguably better options available on the market…

  1. Price is outrageous… Would love to have one of these with a lightweight non tacticool keymod handguard, an underfolder like in an AK. Would make a great backpack gun for the wilderness. If they were smart, they would sell the receiver for cheap and allow people to build their own like an AR. Would sell lots in volume I’d wager.

  2. Makes the M1 a more fully realized PDW, but the Sage EBR stock boosts the price beyond reason. 5.5 lbs with the brace is the same as a plain-Jane M1. Another 15″ of overall length (including 6″ of barrel) means your $700 repro Carbine costs $1000 or $67/inch to shrink!

Kicks hell out of the old Iver Johnson Enforcers, for sure – but at what price?

  3. This looks like an AR and a AK had a baby, than that baby grew up and had a baby with a high point. Then they dressed the baby up in a tux, and this is what you get

  4. would love to see a M1 that’s modernized like that. or just make them again for that matter. tired of waiting for the Korean War M1’s to come home.

and Springfield Armory can kiss my a$$.

    • US .gov issue surplus m1 carbines mail ordered out of a magazine(paper kind, not ammo kind) and sent right to your door by mail man for less than 75 bucks.

*sigh*. I don’t recognize my country anymore.

  5. “Had a Hipoint”…anyone catch the fact MKS Supply also distributes HIPOINT?!? FWIW the price is insane. BTW Hipoint is coming out with a 10mm carbine-for LESS than $1700😆

  6. this would be a good gun if it was not for the $1700 price tag. and you can get some cheaper ammo for it ( FMJs) and hornady also makes some fmj ammo as well. as far as the ftx round at $.90 a round well that is consistant with other defensive ammo out there. it would not be stuff for the range. and this gun in a rifle form with an AR stock and 16″ barrel would be nice ( but again not at $1700) . and why does every thing always got to be over $1000 these days.an M1 carbine with good defensive ammo in it would be a good house gun, even in the commie states with a 10 rounder. but they should not be more than $700 in price. and even may be cheaper. I cannot get over how much they cost these days, I bought one for 175 and another for 200 back in the 80s, and I cannot believe they are over $1000 these days.

  7. Lose the ‘special Sage Enhanced Bat tle Rif le tac tical carb ine stock’ and I might be interested. But then you lost me with the MSRP anyway.

If anyone at Ru ger is listening, a Mini-14/30 pis tol might be a hot seller.

      • Being pretty familiar with the Mini-14 which was adapted from the Garand/M-14/M1carbine family of rifles, I’m well aware of the lack of a bu ffer tube in these rifles. So what’s up with the mini butts tock? I get it on AR pattern pist ols, but what’s it doing there on an M 1 carb ine? Conceptually this firearm is just a mess. Clean it up, drop the price and I probably still won’t buy it, but at least I’d think about it.

  8. M1 carbine is a fun little gun. But MKS/Inland did not do it right. I bought one on July. They did not even polish the inside of the receiver. It’s rough and just manual cycling would left scratch marks on the bolt. Using their factory mag and PPU fmj ammo, I got FTF for almost every round. After the first mag it got better but still gave me 1/5 of FTF. I changed to a surplus mag, a Korean bho 15rds mag … all the same. I just gave up and sold it last month.

  9. A Mech Tech 10mm upper / Glock lower costs less, has more utility and power, and is much easier to find ammo. This is hideous, expensive, and .30 carbine ammo kills it for me. Pass.

  10. I can buy their M1 Carbine in California–but I don’t think this will pass muster. But who cares, not ongoing to make it onto my “buy” list any way.

  11. I think in a short barrel, a 30 caliber would be better then a 5.6.? …….. This is off topic, I’ve been watching some fellas play with bolt guns, I don’t know who taught them to shoot I’ve mentioned to them they’d get better accuracy if they didnt unshoulder the gun to cycle it. How’s come people do that?
