Good news from the folks at GLOCK. The plastic fantastic gun maker has released a new 24-round factory 9mm magazine. After all, you don’t want to run out of bubble gum in a gun battle. Without a doubt, plenty of GLOCK owners in free America will welcome the new offering.
The new mags are for those days when you might wish for greater capacity than the 17-round mags give you. But those 33-round happy sticks don’t really conceal well. Nobody likes to hear, “Is that a GLOCK magazine in your pants or are you just happy to see me?” The new GLOCK factory 24-rounder will serve as a nice compromise.
By happenstance, just yesterday I re-read the story of Sergeant Timothy Gramins who now carries 145 rounds on his person every day. Right there in Skokie, Illinois, too. Here’s a teaser from Police One if you missed the story:

Gramins’ story rattles around in the deepest recesses of my mind. Without fail, every morning I transfer two reloads for my gun from the previous day’s belt. Yes, I know John Correia’s research shows that in civilian gunfights, reloads virtually never happen. Yet I still carry 53 rounds each and every day.
In fact, I’ve written about carrying extra ammo: Why don’t you carry a reload or two?
Regardless of Correia’s research, my mom and wife (and soon twin boys) will never put me into the ground because I ran out of ammo in a fight for my life.
So for those days when 17 doesn’t feel like enough in your G17 (or G19 or G26) and 33 feels like too much, two dozen may strike the perfect balance. And with a street price of under $35 (for now), you won’t need to mortgage your first born to pick up a couple.
And let’s face it, OEM factory magazines generally have greater reliability than aftermarket pistol mags. Well, with the possible exception of Magpul products.
So stock up and never be left wanting. Your GLOCK pistola will thank you for it.

Sound good to me… I carry a bunch of G17 mags for a G26. The only short mag I have is carried in the gun itself.
That .45 may have killed his soul, but the body has to die before St. Peter gets to act as traffic cop! And to think I use to complain about the weight of the extra magazine I usually carry.
Nah, he went straight to hell, but he didn’t realize he was there yet.

And people who always wanted a Glock, but put off the purchase because of their inadequate magazine capacity. Because I can’t think of any other reason not to own a Glock.

Yeah, but where else can you get a compact 40mm blaster like the G27?
….Or the terrible trigger, unsupported barrel, plastic poor viewing sights, so-so accuracy, rejected by the Army after extensive testing, cracked frames (mostly Gen 1s), under-tested recoil spring assembly (looking at you Gen 4s) leading to failures to feed and eject.
The so-so customer support (hey its perfection, why would you need customer support?), especially customer support if you have an ammo problem, then it’s all your problem.
Then there are the KABOOMS! A combination of their continued use of non-fully-supported chambers in some calibers and the polygonal rifling which, re-seat the bullets deeper into the cartridge, increasing the cartridge’s pressure, and then you have a nice hand grenade.
Oh! And if you like to shoot yourself in the leg, then glock leg is for you.
Then there is cost, a $350 dollar-ish gun for $500, why because you like kool-aid obviously. Add to that the cost to fix the above issues…new aftermarket trigger, sights, barrel and stippling and you have nearly a thousand dollar gun, and you still have that obnoxious grip angle… Aaaa the price of perfection.
Frankly there are far better guns out of the box than a Glock. Glocks biggest plus the aftermarket is also their biggest negative…why? Because after five generations Glock still allows the aftermarket to pick up its many pieces.
Soooo, you never quite figured out how to shoot the Glock…I see.
Man, get a grip on yourself. If you can’t shoot a Glock, maybe you should take up the sling-shot…or knitting.

That is unreal. 22 solid hits from .40 S&W rounds with 17 of them center-mass and the scum was still able to fight! What the hell!
As I understand it (and IANAD), even if your aorta is severed and leaking like an open garden hose, it can take up to 20 seconds for your brain to cease functioning due to lack of blood.
Given that, any number of center mass shots might not stop a perp, unless one of them happens to sever the spinal cord.
Magpul ‘s 21 rd 9mm mags have been out for awhile now – they work great.
Looks like something I could use for my Kel-Tec Sub 2K 9mm. The price wasn’t mentioned – how much are these magazines apiece??

I was wondering when Glock might respond to Magpul hitting the market with a lighter weight, less expensive, reliable magazine.
Not even close to more reliable.
I got the 22rds transparent mags from Elyte or something like that. Those work fine too.

I’v been using my ETS mags for the past three years an they haven’t missed a beat.
Yup it was ETS. I got a few of the mags and AR mags too. They all work great.
I’m going to disagree about the Magpul mags.
I’ve got five of them and have had several malfunctions with two of them. One is a 17 rd and the other is a 20 rd mag. Multiple issues with each. I have called Magpul and they refuse to acknowledge there is an issue. They keep telling me to try the mag(s) in another gun! Why?? And I have by the way, I own 8, 9mm Glock pistols. Anyway, all of their mags should work in all Glock 9mm pistols. Those two mags give me problems in any pistol that I put them into. No more aftermarket mags for me! Actually, my very first (and only, until the Magpuls came out) non-Glock mag, was an KCI. It has always worked flawlessly for me. Come on Magpul…
Some very early Magpul Glock mags had issues, but I believe they recalled them and replaced them with improved mags.
I’ve got several of the Magpul ones and had zero malfunctions. I just don’t trust them with my life (yet).
I forgot to mention how Shannon Watts will be thrilled at this news of a 24-round magazine. Poor Shannon.

I knew about the early problems. My mags were produced after the initial problem was resolved…supposedly!
I ran about 100 rounds through each of the Magpul mags I own with no issues so I’m confident with them as carry mags right now. I know some people reported issues with the new improved mags when new before the springs had cycled a few times.
One option is running OEM as carry mags and using the cheaper and easier to strip Magpul mags for range work and courses
Yep. Me, too. I bought five of the new Magpul Glock mags for my G19. Big time reliability issues… failure to feed. Literally in every mag of ammo, at least one failure. With OEM mags…. flawless. Never a malfunction. I would NEVER carry one… and I’m a fan of Magpul products. Just not their Glock mags. Heck… I won’t even use them at the range, unless I was training specifically to clear malfunctions.
Anyone have info on pro mag for GLOCK ? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank’s.

I remember when 30 round mags first appeared for the AR-15s. Unreliable as hell.
Of course, when the first 20 round mags were issued for the M-16, they were unreliable unless only loaded with 16~18 rounds, too.
Now we have 40 round mags. I’ll wait a while.

Damn. So he was literally a zombie at that point. Carry reloads but also practice the Mozambique drill.
Sometimes bad guys don’t always want to cooperate for a good Mozambique drill. So thou shalt hunt the head as a target of opportunity at any opportunity! But yes, that bad guy should have been down, but he was highly motivated.
Hell, I’m highly motivated, but I’ll bet I would go down from the first shot of a 25 auto.

Looking forward to picking some up. The 33 rounders are just too big for a pistol, you have to own one though, just because they make one.
Tried Promags years ago, they did not work. Glock mags are not expensive, not worth trying to see if they work to save a few bucks.
Bought some Magpul 21 round mags, worked fine. Waiting for their 27 round mags, coming soon (for the last 2 years)
I love my 33 round magazine. It is a backup club if my Glock 19 actually behaved as badly in the real world as it does on the range. Actually, the 33 is a normal capacity since only one of two rounds actually fire out of a G19.
What am I missing? I own 3 Glock 33 round mags (use them in g19 pistols but mostly for my aero survival 9mm carbine) have never had any issues with them?
Two G19 mags is 30 shots, 15 ea. 30 rounds is standard for “security” on bases in Afghanistan.
……..because the primary weapon in Afghanistan is a rifle??

I am not an LEO and have recently been subjected to false arrest and violation of 4th Amendment rights, so I am not particularly sympathetic to LEOs. However, I am a trauma surgeon and have seen my share of GSWs. I am fed up with the blind, self righteous liberal anti second amendment faction in my profession. I have probably treated more GSWs than that stupid ER doctor and still have an open mind and my CWP.
I had reason to call the sheriff a year or so ago. Two deputies arrived within minutes, both very nice guys. I was surprised to see that one of them was loaded for bear. He actually had four handguns on him, all in plain view. He had hip holsters on both sides and holsters on his tactical vest for the other two. Don’t ask how many magazines he was sporting. They were all over the place.
That’s one guy who definitely feels One is None, Two is one…Four is three!
