The 80% lower market has just gotten a little more diverse. Ghostguns.com (not to be confused with Defense Distributed’s Ghost Gunner) just announced they’re developing an 80% insert for the SIG P320. Why is this a big deal?
Simple. The P320 is fully modular, a big reason the US Army fell in love with it. The only part of a SIG P320 that’s legally considered a “firearm” is the serialized internal frame. You can have any other part from barrel to slide to trigger to grip delivered directly to your home via the big brown truck.
Now, thanks to ghostguns.com, you can avoid all the paperwork and the transfer fee that’s involved with that with internal metal frame. All you have to do is a little grinding and drilling on your own using the tools and jigs ghostguns.com just to happens to conveniently sell, too (same as the 80% lowers sold for AR’s).
We don’t have any information on pricing yet but we’ve reached out to ghostguns.com and are efforting that now. Stay tuned.
This is something I’d be more interesting in putting together than an AR from an 80% lower. Cool.

F****** epic. We can use this to endless possibilities. We could have rifles equipped with SIG P320 internal frames. Drill a few holes, dremel off some tabs, and you are good to go. SIG has my respect right now. SIG should license out their internal frames to other manufacturers. Endless possibilities. And anyone and everyone can build their own gun in a few minutes. Epic. Love it.

I wonder how many 80% units are actually being sold, of all species, and what the growth rate is for these things.
There should be a major effort underway to mainstream 80% pieces, although maybe that’s underway, too.
We need slogans, t-shirts, bumper stickers, etc… Something like “80% Life”, or “I’m an 80 Percenter”, and such.

Having a reliable firearm with no form 4473 traceable to *you* is the point of it…
The benefits outweigh the cost, and it’s perfect for those that don’t have 500+ to drop at once, they can spread out the slightly higher cost.

Hopefully the M17 isn’t just immediately obsolete like the M9 was (polymer frame pistols hit around its adoption). When the patents expire (17 years at most, likely less) the aftermarket/80% market for it will be fun.
Considering how quickly P320’s are going to be flying off the shelves the next few years, an 80% frame and the other parts are probably going to be the only way you’ll be able to get a P320 is putting it together yourself.
If I hadn’t already started on a Polymer80 Spectre project I think I might have gone for this instead.
Then again, there are a lot more Glock bits out there than P320s.

By the way, folks, please don’t think just building a gun up from an 80% lower will keep anyone from knowing you have it.
In a sufficiently thorough surveillance state, it would not be that hard to put together credit card transaction records (not actual receipts listing items, just a record that you bought something) from Ghostguns and Sig Sauer within a couple of week to make a reasonable guess as to what you did.
The only way to try to avoid that scenario would be to pay cash for all of it. That might be hard to do, given the current availability of P320 parts.
You have a point on that, are the trigger group parts coming from Sig, and is Sig willing to sell them individually?

Last time I went to a gun show, there were copious amounts of 80% AR lowers for sale,as well as complete uppers, lower parts kits, buffers, stocks, etc. What makes you think there won’t be vendors selling 80% SIG P320 FCGs, frames, and slides?
I never use electronic payment at gun shows. Cash only. This will be no different. No record with a cash sale at a gun show. And as another poster said, one can always have the LGS order the SIG parts and one can pay for them with cash.
ATF has been surveiling gun shows with cameras and drive-by license plate scanners.
You would need to travel to/from the show via public transit and in a disguise that would defeat facial recognition.
There are thousands of gun shows every weekend. Last one I went to in Tampa had thousands of cars in the parking lot of the Florida State Fairgrounds, which also had multiple events going on at the same time.
The BATF doesn’t know if I have beef jerky and t-shirts in my backpack, or a SIG P320 frame and slide for my serialized FCG.
To be frank, it’s really not as hard as people think it is. It’s more involved than just handing over a credit card, but it’s still fairly easy to do.

When we get the NFA killed. Otherwise it’s just something an 9MM AR (people make 80%s for the Glock magwell ones and you can put the Colt SMG/Uzi magwell adapter in any 80%) will do better and cheaper (officially).
Have you called your congressman and senators to tell them FL-6’s DeSantis and Florida’s Marco Rubio (respectively) are considering a bill to do it and you want them as co-sponsors?
