2016 is bringing a lot of change to Lone Wolf Distributors. The biggest piece of news may be that all of their Alpha Wolf barrels and their new slides are fresh designs that are manufactured in the U.S. Lone Wolf will undoubtedly be selling a lot of blank slides or “OEM slides,” which ship as a GLOCK slide “rolling chassis,” if you will. All of the functional bits are already machined, and company XYZ can simply finish out the exterior however they want and slap their own name on it. Also . . .

The G9 AR-15 style lower receiver, reviewed here, has received some updates. A recurring comment on that review (including on the YouTube video) was that it was silly to retain the full-sized magazine well dimensions — although I like how it maintains a more traditional AR-15 look — when the GLOCK mag is so much shorter front-to-rear. Lone Wolf has indeed chosen to slim it down a bit.

They’ve also flared the trigger guard and increased the size of the mag release button. Note that the one seen here is still a pre-production prototype.

The Alpha Wolf barrels are fluted, nitrided black, and come in much nicer retail packaging (more of a thing for dealers wanting to display them on hooks). I picked up a threaded one so I can slap a suppressor on that G19 MOS I’ve been carrying, and it fits nicely and has so far functioned just right.

Here are a few more photos of the blank slide, including one I saw in the New Product Center being advertised by a different company under their brand name. And it could be 100% made by them, of course, as not knowing if LW provided the blank is kind of the whole point of this “white label” slide offering. I wonder what I could come up with at home with a bench vice and a Dremel tool.

  1. I’m liking that blank slide. As I’ve got access to a mill, I can cut some nice serrations then do some shaping and rounding of the edges. Maybe cut out for a red dot.
Kudos to Lone Wolf for providing these!

    • If that mill is CNC, whip up a file and carve a tiny demon head with red tritium vials for eyes in the front of the slide…

I can see Dirk buying one and having ‘Shannon’ CNC-embossed on the side in a scroll script…

      *snicker*

  2. Very cool. I’m not a Glock guy, per se, but I could see the attraction in having a one-off Glock that’s been customized to exactly what you want, making it the only Glock of its kind. As a machinist, I could definitely see myself getting one or two and making some sweet designs and what-have-you’s in these things. I didn’t see anything about price tho, did I? How much are these things?

    • It would be fun, right? I’m not sure they’ve announced price yet. But as the whole point is selling them to other companies to finish, put their name on, and sell to customers the price is obviously low enough to allow other folks to do that and build in a profit margin, too. Of course, they’re probably buying a bunch. But check out LW’s prices for finished slides. They aren’t very expensive. This would be a lot less.

  3. That bottom photograph. I’m pretty sure that’s a Falcon 9 from Perfect Dark, N64, and not a Glock. They didn’t have enough pixels back then to finish machining it I suppose.

  4. I want to custom up my own glock slide! For reals I need to start that lady guns business on the side with my sister. this might be a good place to start.

  5. On barrels — they sure are nicer-looking than the old LW silver barrels. I have a few of the older (“original?”), especially during their sale last year for $89. These new barrels are $140 to $160. That’s a steep increase. Glad to see they’re not replacing the old barrels, which work fine and are much less expensive. Always appreciate new entries, so long as they don’t take away the tried & true choices.
