I was making a beeline for the philly cheesesteak truck at SHOT when this scope caught my eye, for what is probably a fairly obvious reason. Yeah, I admit it; I love me some carbon fiber. Kruger Optical‘s KC8 is a 1-8x scope with a legitimate no-zoom, distortion-free 1x and an illuminated reticle. And that carbon fiber tube . . .

MSRP isn’t known at this point, but I’ll definitely be hitting up Kruger’s team in Oregon to see if I can sweet talk my way into a loaner unit.

Wait is that boredom or gun porn.

I am seriously waiting for the MSRP. And to see if their catalog has an Israeli Supermodel mounting it (on an AR).

  1. Huh.
Right in my back yard and I have not heard of them.
Looks pretty neat. I’ll check to see if they will be at the sportsmanship show here.

  2. Optics is a precise science.
It’s all about the glass, and the mechanisms that move the glass.
The tube that holds all that – not so critical, unless you want to spend a pile of cash just to shave off an ounce of weight.

    But they do look cool.

  3. It’s uncommon for something to be so aesthetically pleasing and provide such perform without a stroke inducing price tag. I’d love to have one, but I imaging the msrp will price out a lot of people, whenever this thing comes to market.

  4. The amount of carbon fiber used to make the tube is inconsequential compared to the over all price of a good scope. This will be dent proof, shatter proof and noticeably lighter. Yeah, they’ll crank the MSRP way the hell up because people will pay.

    • I figure the carbon fiber is probably used like it is in the Valquartsen barrels, a wrapping to reinforce a thin metal core. This essentially replaces some of the metal with an infinitely lighter material.

My point is, this wouldn’t eliminate the need to machine metal, actually increasing machining complexity.

        • Well, better sometimes only comes in one-size and that’s “RCH”.

I bet it’s better in thermal/environmental rigidity. It won’t transmit heat, but the carbon can conduct micro-currents of electricity pretty well.

I just can’t (“for the life of me”) understand why they made it out of “pre-preg” sheeting instead of winding one around a mandrel. BUT, I am neither a GU nor RU in these matters.

  5. While you’re at it, can you ask them whatever happened to their Dual Tactical Sight? Seems like a cool concept, still on their web site, but that’s all I’ve ever heard about it.

  6. Jeremy. I’ll let you know when it’s ready. Yes, it’s full carbon. Our 3-24×56 will be full carbon too. The 1-8x will save on average approx 22% on weight against our competitors. More to follow.

  7. We’re the manufacturer of carbon fiber scope tube in China for many years, with good quality and attractive price.

Light-weight , high strength and anti-corrosion are the main features of carbon fiber tube.

Hope to cooperate with you in the future.

    Best regards,
    Kitty

  8. I’ve spent two days trying to contact the company and a supplier. I’ve tried to send emails to the supplied email address, and turned up invalid both times. I was told that their website is in the process of being updated. Kind of frustrating. Seems like a really terrific product and I really would like more information about the product but it seems like nobody knows anything about any other products or anybody that sells them or prices or anything. I find it hard to believe you are trying to sell a product without any information. Please update
