Looks like it’s only available for 1911s, and certain models of Glock, S&W, and HK (as mentioned in the press release). Shame. This would be perfect for the Ruger SR45 I just ordered for my birthday/Father’s Day present.
Blackhawk makes a thumb break pancake holster for 20 bucks that’s pretty good. Might want to check it out.
Problem with a thumb break for security is that everyone knows, bad guys included, that its there and they know that it can be defeated easily. Better off with a security holster that is not that obvious such as the Safariland ALS.
I think you give the average “Bad Guy” far too much credit.
That said, if you are accosted by a BG with balls big enough to attempt to appropriate your holstered pistol, you have a bigger problem than whether or not he already recognizes and knows how to defeat your holster’s retention strategy.

The “retention” is to be included in training. There is no requirement for a retention holster.

I’ve been complaining forever that no one makes a kydex holster with thumb snap options. Looks like some one finally did. Going on my wishlist.
Why would anyone open carry in something a UGLY as a Kydex holster? Why, in the olden days of Texas open carry, cowboys relished in the carving and silver they added to their rigs, and you can still get that kind of quality workmanship today. Shark, alligator, hippo, elephant, snake, ostrich, you name it,. If you’ve got it, flaunt it. This isn’t a war zone. And I’d bet that if you are sporting a $300 hand made rig, ain’t no one gonna think you are a danger that needs to be reported to the police.
The type of person who’d call the cops on an OC’er is not likely to give a shit about what one’s holster looks like.
I like this. Always been happy with their stuff.
Only suggestion I would make is to have the rear side of the holster unmolded and smooth and flat.
Case in point I have a few Galco Fletch leather OWB holsters (thumb break), the backside is unmolded so it sits against as tight as it can.
I have some other OWB holsters where the front and backs are both molded to the firearm. Not as comfortable and kind of leaves a bit of a gap from the wings for your belt and where the molded backside sits against you. So it doesn’t tuck in as close as it could.
Nit Picky? Maybe, but I can say for sure a smooth slightly curved back portion would be more comfortable and tuck in better against your side.
