I like the looks of the take down .22 and the survival gun. I’ve always thought the perfect survival gun would be a combo of rimfire and shotgun.
Me too. I wonder if one could shoot .22 short out if that little lever gun. I couldn’t read some of the product info on my phone.
Nowadays the .22 short don’t get the respect it did back in my youth. I dispatched a lot of bothersome critters in my country youth with the .22 short. Great training round for little kids too.
My experience with Chiappa has been less than acceptable. They have cool concepts but I would rather spend my money on a hi-point.
I got one of their little .22 badger single shots and it has the finest trigger of any production .22 I own. I know It is hard to mess up a break action single shot, but it is a tack driver with a sweet trigger.
I wanted the single shot 17hmr version, Bud’s exclusive, and went to a small town gun store, they had a 22lr and a 22mag. Both had poor finish and the 22lr had screwed up sights. I rolled the dice for the 10 shot 17 hmr revolver. It works ok for 8 sometimes 10 rounds and then the cylinder stops rotating, and metal shavings start falling out of the gun when cleaning it.
I would say, “Too bad, I would kinda like that combo gun”–but I can’t afford one anyway right now, so I suppose it’s just as well….
I spent some time with the Triple Threat that my friend owns. I had no problems with it. Can’t say I would buy one, but it wasn’t a bad gun. Fit and finish were pretty nice too.
Agreed. Chiappa makes a nice looking firearm but their function leaves much to be desired.
My Chiappa .22 upper sucked for the first two mags. Then on the third mag, it just shot without issue. My friend even used it in a local tactical shooting competition which almost always finds a guns weakness and it functioned flawlessly. They seem to be hit or miss but I still like the quirky guns they are coming out with.
There is always that guy on the interweb who has problems with everything.
My Rhino was a pleasure to shoot.

Crazy idea: I want a combo gun, semi-auto .22 combined with a shotgun.
Anyone who has ever been shooting jackrabbits knows that half the time you wished you had a shotgun and the other half you wished you had a semi auto .22. Why not combine them?
I know it wouldn’t be easy, but thats what I want.

Savage made them for years; they’re called the model 24. The 24c takes down and stores ammo in the butt. And they are light years better than that microchipped POS Chiappa offering.

Nothing beats a .22 levergun for utility and sheer fun — except a .22 levergun that you can take down and put in a day pack.
Try an old pump, you’ll fall in love…. and they shoot .22 short……good luck finding one though!

Should be a great alternative to the Savage model 24.
Last beater I saw had a 400 dollar tag on it.
I couldn’t wait to throw money at the clerk at the lgs when the savage 42 came out. Til I got one in my mitts. What a let down.
Still kick myself for not buying the Baikal combo guns when they were cheap and available.
For 600 I’d stick with my modified 10/22 and just throw 600 at ammo and 2 more magazines.

I honestly want a Rhino 40DS or 60DS (4″ or 6″ models)
They look frickin sweet.
But they are rather low on my list. Behind about 30 or 40 other things.
Never shot one or even handled one. But that low bore axis must help in follow up shots.
IIRC, the review on this site was actually quite positive aside from the double action trigger pull.
I’ve shot one and loved it. Very little muzzle jump and fast back on target for follow up shots. 6″ steel at ten yards & rang the bell every shot (’till the target fell over).
That Kodiak Cub looks pretty cool. I really like shiny lever guns (my Rossi .357 is stainless, and I get perilously close to buying a Henry Golden Boy Silver every time I see one), so this is right up my alley. Not sure about the synthetic furniture, though. It makes sense if you’re designing the gun for all-weather use, but a lever gun without dead tree parts seems a little wrong.
Please, send as many staffs as you can. We need the tax revenue 😀

Noooo! I just bought the doube badger in .410/22lr in October, and I would have much rather had it in 20ga! But now that I have this one I don’t really want to part with it either…
