An air rifle isn’t legally a “firearm,” so a full-auto air rifle isn’t legally a “machine gun.” Crosman thinks you’ll have some fun with that, so they’re releasing a select-fire DPMS SBR CO2 rifle with all the AR stuff you know and love and a 1,400 RPM cyclic rate. Sweet. Press release follows . . .

Crosman Introduces the DPMS SBR Full Auto CO2 Rifle

Bloomfield, NY – January 17, 2018 – Crosman Corporation, in partnership with DPMS Panther Arms, is proud to announce the new DPMS SBR full auto CO2 rifle – the most fun you’ll ever have shooting an airgun.

The DPMS SBR is a tactical compact CO2 rifle that sends out a barrage of steel BBs through either a single shot semi-auto mode or full-auto mode with an insane 1400 rounds per minute rate of fire. “The rifle speaks for itself,” says Philip Guadalupe, Product Manager. “It’s one of the most badass air rifles on the market.”

The SBR was inspired by the popular DPMS PDW short-barreled rifle, with a tactical twist. It features a 6-position buttstock, AR compatible Pistol grip, Quad Picatinny rails for accessories, angled fore grip and flip up iron sights (BUIS). It is powered by dual 12 g CO2 Powerlets that is housed in a drop out 30rd magazine for ease of access.

This air rifle has a heavy, realistic weight and features such as blowback bolt action, ejection port cover, and forward assist button. This model will have a MSRP of $179.99.

    • To buy in NJ , it would be considered a ‘ Firearm ‘ and a FOID card would be needed.
HOWEVER …. buying a BB gun ( Or Black Powder gun ) out of state , and bringing back to private property is legal. ( Simple Possession Not Banned )

  1. Is not a firearm. Yes and no, in most states any bb pellet gun firing over 630 fps( I think that’s the number) and having a rifled barrel ,is classified as a firearm if your a convicted felon or under parole or probation ,it is just as unlawful to own this as would be the real MC coy.

    • Based on Section 921(a)(3), air guns, because they use compressed air and not an explosive to expel a projectile, do not constitute firearms under Federal law — unless they are manufactured with the frames or receivers of an actual firearm…. Have fun kids!!!

  2. The rate of fire is misleading. This is assuming you have a 1,400 round magazine and won’t run out of gas.
    In a minutes time, let’s assume you can make 5 reloads. That’s a total of 180 BB’s.
The blowback action will suck up a lot of gas. Figure on needing to change cartridges at the 4 or 5 mag mark.
More than likely, the true rate of fire is 150 or less. Still would love one.

    • Cop – You have been driving at 85 MPH!
You – But officer, that’s impossible. I left home just fifteen minutes ago. 😁

1400 rpm is theoretical rate of fire. It means intervals between shots in a FA mode. Think “brrrrrt” versus “ta-ta-ta-ta”. It has nothing to do with reloading.

  3. Not gonna lie, I’ll probably pick one up. Can’t think of much more fun for less than $200.

Assuming weight is comparable I can see this being a somewhat legit training tool too for guys that can’t afford actual shoothouses.

  4. Some kid is going to be shot with a real gun when a fall goes out of a suspect to running the street with an assault rifle either by a police officer or a citizen when the kid points the gun at them. Then the police officer or citizen will be crucified by the liberal media that a poor kid was shot with a BB gun. Very irresponsible by Crosman.
