Multiple people were killed Wednesday in a shooting on the Molson Coors Brewing Co. campus, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett said.

The dead include the shooter, said Barrett, who did not give an exact number of people killed.

“What has happened is there was a horrific shooting that has occurred,” Barrett told reporters. “We’re urging all residents and people in this area to stay away from this area. … They’re continuing their sweep to make sure there is nothing more that’s occurring. It is a horrible, horrible day for the employees here. It’s a very rough day for anyone who is close to this situation.”

Police tweeted that there was no longer an active threat. Authorities did not immediately release details about the shooter or how the shooting unfolded.

It occurred at a sprawling complex that includes a mix of corporate offices and brewing facilities. At least 600 people work at the complex, which is widely known in the Milwaukee area as “Miller Valley,” a reference to the Miller Brewing Co. that is now part of Molson Coors.

James Boyles told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that his wife, Lasonya Ragdales, works at Molson Coors in the claims department. She was texting from inside the facility and told her husband that there was an active shooter and she was locked in a room with a bunch of co-workers, the Journal Sentinel reported.

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers was on his way to the scene. Attorney General Josh Kaul called the shooting “gut-wrenching.”

“Miller Valley” features a 160-year-old brewery, with a packaging center that fills thousands of cans and bottles every minute and a distribution center the size of five football fields. A massive red Miller sign towers over the complex and is a well-known symbol in Milwaukee, where beer and brewing are intertwined in the city’s history.

The facility is also home to corporate customer service, finance, human resources and engineering. Tours take people to underground caves where beer was once stored, a saloon with intricate woodwork, a stein hall with stained-glass windows, a champagne room meeting hall with leaded-glass windows, and an outdoor beer garden that can hold 300 people.

Before Wednesday’s shooting, there had been three mass killings nationwide in 2020, with 12 total victims. All have been shootings. In 2019, there were 44 mass killings, with 224 total victims. The Associated Press/USA TODAY/Northeastern University Mass Killings database tracks all U.S. homicides since 2006 involving four or more people killed over 24 hours regardless of weapon, location, victim-offender relationship or motive.

The last mass shooting in the Milwaukee area was in August 2012. when white supremacist Wade Michael Page fatally shot six people and wounded four others at a Sikh temple in suburban Oak Creek. Page killed himself after being wounded in a shootout with police. The worst mass shooting in the area in the past 20 years was in 2005, when seven people were killed and four wounded at a church service in Brookfield, a Milwaukee suburb. The shooter killed himself.

    • Please, enlighten us about how this is right on time. Was there a silencer bill about to be voted on tomorrow in the state assembly? Is there a national election happening next week I’m not aware of? Or do you just parrot “right on time” as if that’s a meaningful statement every time there’s a workplace shooting (which happens not infrequently) because you think it sounds insightful?

      • The 2020 South Carolina Democratic primary will take place in South Carolina, United States, on February 29, 2020 with the most anti-gun list of contenders to ever run for President -including the best financed/anti-gun candidate ever.
Close your eyes and put your fingers back in your ears. Conspiracies do not exist anywhere…ever..never have.

        • Explain how they got a disgruntled employee to kill his co workers and himself to aid bernie or bloomie? The dems are already riding a full speed ahead express anti gun train to obscurity in 2020. How does this help them in any way?

        • Conspiracies are easy to find if you are looking for them. OTOH, if you want to ignore every “coincidence” then you can rest easy without even considering the possibility.
I answered Hannibal’s question. He was seeking enlightenment and wanted to know about the next national election which I took the liberty to mean election with national implications…South Carolina
I cannot convince you one way or the other and it is not my place anyway. Do your own research…Google can be your friend.
Here is how you do it.
          https://lmgtfy.com/?q=south+carolina+2020+primary

        • It’s pretty hard to convince people that you believe in the veracity of conspiracy theories and in the following sentence espouse the virtues of GOOGLE?

        • Reading comprehension much?
“I cannot convince you one way or the other and it is not my place anyway. Do your own research”

I’m not really into this particular one. To be honest, I’m note really worried about the virtues of google in this context as I don’t believe there is much sincerity behind the questions that are being asked in this thread.

      • Do you just sit around waiting to try and put other people down for their opinion? Next time keep your pie hole shut if you don’t have anything constructive to add…. lol… I swear…. SOME people…. jeez

  1. Ex-employee fired earlier in the day came back with a silenced pistol and stolen employee pass, killed 6 and then himself.

    • No such thing as a ‘silencer’ for firearms.

AP and MSM statistics all screwed up as well.

Last year there were 11 Mass killings (not all shootings) in US. We rank 11th Worldwide.

        • Just because something is referred to in common parlance does not make it true. Call it a silencer all you want, but it doesn’t silence a firearm report, it suppresses it. Simple as that. The problem with calling it a silencer is that it reinforces the opinion of the general public that sound suppression devices work like they are shown in the movies. In fact, I would lay a majority of the blame for the public’s misconceptions about firearms at the feet of Hollywood. This includes such fantasy as readily available full auto weapons and destructive devices like grenade launchers, suppressors that are impossibly quiet, and the bottomless mag (including the rare never-ending tubular mag).
So by all means, keep calling suppressors silencers and wonder why we can’t get the HPA passed.

      • . H. P. MAXIM SILENCER FOR GUNS Filed Feb. 21, 1921 Patented Feb. 5, 1924.

HIE/AM PERCY MAXIM, OF HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT.

        SILENCER FOR GUNS.

Application filed February 21, 1921. Serial No. 446,822.

        • to Chief Censor
Its not the marketing. It’s the $200 tax stamp plus the $700 or more for the silencer. You need to read up on the silencer business and taxes.

        • So because 1 guy used that word almost 100 years ago, we’re just stuck with it?? The word silencer is clearly a marketing strategy. Suppressor is a lot more cumbersome and doesn’t seem as cool as “silencer”. Oooh, silencer…. it just sounds illegal, doesn’t it?? Eh, physics be damned let’s go with the shiny cool name.

        • One guy who INVENTED the thing. It’s also the legal term. If you buy a SilencerCo Octane from Silencer Shop, you better write “Silencer” in box 4b (Firearm Type) of your BATFE Form 4, or you will not get your tax stamp to take possession. Your chosen name is M10, but obviously Moron is more correct. “Suppress” means to put down, prevent, or keep secret. It does none of those things either. The technically correct term is “attenuator.” Muffler is a descriptive layman’s term, which happens to be called a silencer in England.

      • Gotta agree with the others here. According to those who send stamps to imply permission, you can make a silencer, but not a suppressor. No one ever said suppressor before SOCOM-based video games came out…..

    • It’s hardly a surprise this crap happens regularly…. look how americans treat each other…. if everyone treated their fellow man like family, these shootings would probably MAJORLY diminish…
I’m in no way condoning this behavior in the slightest, so the keyboard commandos need not respond…
It’s just my opinion…. people suck in general and feel no obligation to help their fellow man.. this happens everyday and as long as the current system of capitalism continues,
I FEAR the emotionally disturbed will continue to act out…
I definitely DO NOT want communism, but a little socialism would do this country some good…. TAKE CARE OF YOUR FELLOW MAN, YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU MIGHT END UP IN THE SAME SITUATION….JS

        • Now I’m a bit confused, so is it Trumps fault or are we reaching back in time to blame Ronald Reagan for this nutbags mindless decision to just senselessly murder half a dozen people BEFORE he takes his own life…..

  2. At 6:15 pm Wall Street Journal says 7 dead, fired employee decides to play Human Resources on his own… No weapon specified, I’ll take a “wild” guess, shooter other than white and gun other than AR/AK type rifle?

    • Bingo, I would bet you are right about this, otherwise his name and the gun would be top news today along with the fake virus panic, just in time to make everyone forget about Hong Kong revolution and disrupt the stock market in time for the elections. Pretty clever those Communists… ( Not China or Russia, the Democrats )

  3. Alex I’ll take “since there is no pic of the shooter or word about gun?”

It’s not a ‘white guy’ and No AR was used? …for 1000$

    DIN DING!!!!!!! Daily double!

    • It’s typical to see white male Republicans say it’s never a white guy that does the mass shooting and murder.

Workplace shootings are done by all kinds of people. Gang shootings are typically done by black Americans. School shootings (and the like) are typically done by white males.

Don’t act like the statists don’t talk about mass shootings done by shotgun or handgun. They talked about Santa Fe, they talked about Virginia Tech and Beach.

      • “”””Don’t act like the statists don’t talk about mass shootings done by shotgun or handgun. They talked about Santa Fe, they talked about Virginia Tech and Beach.”””

your post is spot on and right inline with mine…”talked” and now they ‘forget’ them or ‘talk’ about them WAY LESS because no AR was used

tell me I am wrong…i’ll wait!

      • to Chief Censor
I need to really do your research. Blacks are 12% of the population and commit 17% of the mass shootings in the country. My numbers are from my memory of the FBI report from 10 years ago.
Feel free to check my accuracy.

Racist gun control keeps law abiding blacks from shooting back at these criminals.

    • Yep! :

“According to Miller Coors’ website, its campus is a gun free zone and concealed carry weapons are not allowed on site.”

      https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/akwn5e/breaking-police-are-responding-to-a-suspected-mass-shooting-in-milwaukee

I *suppose* the murderer wasn’t an English speaker and was therefore unable to read the “No Guns Allowed” signs that must have been there.

I mean, what else could possibly explain what happened?

      (Sarcasm)…

      • If I can’t carry concealed, then I can’t work there…. PLAIN AND SIMPLE….
Even if the employer says not to carry, if there’s no way to get around it through insubordination, then DON’T WORK THERE…. PLAIN AND SIMPLE!!!

        • I, as well as my “co-workers”, are required to carry at work. Not one murder, mass or otherwise, ever.

Maybe if the brewery made firearms mandatory, this would not have happened.

        • I pocket or ankle carry. Fuck their rules.

Tried by 12, or carried by 6. I know which one I’ll chose.

    • MillerCoors is possibly on the hook for those deaths. Wisconsin law allows for businesses that post no weapon signs and policies to be able to be sued if anything like this happens.

      • I would like to see a lawsuit in such regard. No pun, no sarcasm. Let the “gun free zone” people pay for their ideals.

        • In July they are having the DNC there as well. Been in an out of MKE the last couple years it’s your typical midwestern town only “bigger”. Still don’t get the desire of everyone in the midwest to drink themselves to death though. Then again after nearly 2 years here I am ready to go, too bad this is a 3-4 year tour.

  4. A pocket carry .22 is better than a 45 acp at home in a gun safe. Or a .32 acp in the pocket is better than a 45 acp in the safe at home. And nobody needs to know at work what’s in your pockets.

    • ” nobody needs to know at work what’s in your pockets ”

Until something like this happens and you have to use it. Next thing you know you’re out of a job. It happens. And it shouldn’t.

Some consolation in being unemployed instead of dead, though.

      • Any gun you carry you need to practice with it. Any gun is better than no gun at all.

North American Arms 22 Mag Mini revolver video 17 minutes long

  5. “Milwaukee police sources told CBS 2’s Jermont Terry that the gunman was fired earlier in the day. He returned and started shooting with a silenced gun, police sources said.”

Well there goes the Hearing Protection Act.

    • The suppressor didn’t add to the lethality of the firearm.

Also, all of the survivors won’t have damaged hearing that would have resulted from an un-suppressed firearm in an enclosed environment. As insensitive as this may sound, there are different viewpoints to be considered.

    • Trump doesn’t like suppressor at all. He wanted to regulate them further. He said pro gun bills will never pass, don’t even try to put them up for vote. The suppressor bill has been dead since the Republicans took control years ago.

  6. Obviously, not a level headed individual. Fired means unemployment, which is usually not that bad and based of previous yearly income. Seems this douchebag was just waiting for his moment, regardless of when or how. Nothing to see here.

Don’t over react about this kind of shit. It makes you look stupid.
