We published a story a short time ago about Machine Guns Vegas, a place which the Daily Mail made out to be some unholy mix of a strip club and a firing range. Sounded good to me, but it did raise some concerns about safety and some bigger concerns about whether or not the average Joe would be allowed into this Valhalla of firearms. Earlier tonight the staff of Machine Guns Vegas reached out to me and gave me some more accurate information than the limey bastards at the Daily Mail cared to provide, and the news only gets better. Make the jump for more information and the full press release.

So what is this good news? In short:

  • NO BOOZE, and safety is a major emphasis of the operation.
  • The facility will be open to the public, with a “VIP entrance” and private lanes for high rollers.
  • “Historic” firearms will be included in the arsenal available for rent and not just machine guns, including guns from Call of Duty and WWII.
  • No long lines and the ability to instantly upload pictures and video of your trigger time.
  • Custom gunsmithing and engraving services on-site.
  • Staff anticipate the facility being open for SHOT 2012.

But the best news of all is that we, your TTAG representatives at SHOT, will be giving you a first-hand look at this new facility once it opens. Yep, we’re in.

And now, the full press release for your reading pleasure.

LAS VEGAS – The plush, high-energy appeal of a Las Vegas ultra lounge meets the thrill of a high-tech firearms experience when Machine Guns Vegas (MGV) opens its doors early 2012.

The first-of-its-kind attraction will offer guests the chance to shoot a variety of firearms – from modern machine guns and assault rifles to some of the most famous firearms from World War II — in a safe, contemporary atmosphere. No alcohol will be served at Machine Guns Vegas. Adding to MGV’s sex appeal, Jeannie Duffy, model and ex-United States Air Force, will serve as spokes model and shoot host.

“Machine Guns Vegas combines exotic firearms with world-class service and amenities for a safe yet exhilarating experience that’s unique and inviting,” said Genghis Cohen, MGV managing partner. “MGV will offer something for everyone, from the firearms enthusiast to the first-timer who wants to feel the thrill of firing these powerful weapons.”

Located just minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, the 10,000-square-foot facility will feature 16 shooting lanes where guests can securely test their skills with a vast selection of machine guns, handguns and other exotic firearms. MGV will have the world’s first “Gun Lounge” an ultra-discreet experience for celebrities and groups including two completely private firing lanes, a private celebrity waiting lounge with plush furniture, large plasma TVs, iMac, complimentary refreshments and a separate entrance. This is the first time a firearms facility has provided a completely separate and private experience for VIPs.

Cohen added, “MGV was created to fill a void in the Las Vegas tourist market. It was obvious there was a need for a customer service-oriented firearms experience in Las Vegas with unique, select offerings for celebrities and high-net-worth individuals as part of the facility.”

Upon entering MGV, guests will be matched with a shooting host, who will use interactive multimedia displays to showcase each of the shooting experiences offered. Technology plays an important role in delivering an unparalleled MGV experience, from eliminating long lines to enabling guests to instantly upload photos and video to YouTube, Facebook and Twitter to share their one-of-a-kind Las Vegas experience with the world.

MGV will offer customers the opportunity to shoot some of the world’s most famous firearms. This includes the same types of weapons carried by the members of U.S. Navy SEAL Team Six on their raid of Osama Bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan, to World War II-era firearms found in video games like “Call of Duty.” Guests also will be entertained with movie displays showcasing film clips and popular firearms including “Rambo’s” M60 machine gun or Bullet Tooth Tony’s .50 Caliber Desert Eagle Handgun featured in “Snatch.”

Not just a male-dominating atmosphere, MGV will attract both genders, offering bachelor and bachelorette packages to deliver a different kind of adrenaline rush for that one last fling before the ring in Sin City. The retail section in the main range will offer quality brand label MGV apparel and gift items. An exclusive retail section located in the Gun Lounge will feature items such as a one-of-a-kind designer handbag with built-in concealed carry holster, to customized limited-edition firearms engraved with the customer’s name and fitted to each individual person.

Partner Genghis Cohen is a former officer in the Royal New Zealand Army and is best known for his background in the Las Vegas nightlife industry for his involvement in projects such as Tabú, the world’s first ultra lounge; the Rainbow Bar and Grill; and Cathouse at Luxor Hotel & Casino. Cohen has an extensive knowledge of customer service operations, marketing and promotions focused on the Las Vegas tourism market. He has also worked on a variety of international tourism projects in Africa, the Caribbean, the Middle East and the South Pacific.

Lianne Hellier-Heck is the Director of Sales and Marketing for Machine Guns Vegas. Born and raised in the UK, Lianne has been working in Las Vegas’ nightlife scene since 2000 and previously launched and operated the popular VIP hosting site Vegas Night Tours. She brings her extensive experience to MGV, providing unrivaled luxury treatment and experiences.

Bringing additional depth of knowledge to the team is Director of Training and Development Michael Heck, a former Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer, U.S. Army machine gunner and paratrooper, Sergeant Patrolman and K-9 handler for the 16th Military Police Brigade, and member of Protective Security Detail in Las Vegas. Over the last decade, Heck has utilized his experience in managing and consulting with virtually every major firearms retailer in Southern Nevada and was instrumental in building the world’s most successful high-volume tourist range, expending more ammunition than the entire Marine Corps does in a year.

Machine Guns Vegas is located at 3501 Aldebaran Avenue, and will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, visit machinegunsvegas.com. Follow MGV on Twitter @VegasOnFullAuto, or become a Facebook fan at facebook.com/machinegunsvegas.
