In response to the sweeping gun ban recently signed into law by Colorado Gov. Jared Polis, the governor of a neighboring state has released a video inviting Colorado companies in the firearm and ammunition business to “move back to America.”
In the video, Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte expressed his belief that gunmakers should quickly abandon Colorado and move north to Big Sky Country.
“Last week, the Democrat governor of Colorado signed into law one of the most restrictive gun bans ever adopted in the United States,” Gov. Gianforte said in the video. “The law bans the manufacturing and selling of semi-automatic firearms. This is on top of the liberal state’s existing ban on high-capacity magazines. That’s just crazy.”
Gianforte stressed in the video that Colorado has turned its back on gun owners and the Second Amendment. But he wants gun manufacturers to know that his state has taken just the opposite approach.
“If you needed another sign that Democrat governors are out of touch with reality, well, here it is,” he said. “Colorado is ranked in the top 10 states with the biggest gun industries. So, to all gun manufacturers in Colorado, my question for you is simple. Do you want to move back to America?”
Gianforte wrapped up the video appeal by touting his state’s credentials concerning gunmakers and protecting the Second Amendment.
“Montana is open for business and home to more than 150 firearms and ammunition manufacturers,” he said. “It’s the highest per capita in the entire country. We are a constitutional carry state that has enacted laws outlawing discrimination against gun and ammunition manufacturers. In Montana, we embrace freedom and the free enterprise system. Come on home to America. Right here in Montana.”
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Gov. Gianforte pointed out just how egregious the new Colorado law is.
“Our Second Amendment is very clear,” he said. “It says the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. This bill outlaws some of the most popular firearms used for sporting and self-defense. It’s a violation of the Second Amendment.”
Along with the video appeal to Colorado gun and ammo companies, Gov. Gianforte also phoned a handful of companies to invite them to come north for a visit.
“When this came out—this announcement—I personally cold called six Colorado firearms companies,” he told Fox News Digital. “Five of them, the five I’ve spoken to so far, are all planning visits to Montana.
“My message to them was pretty simple. ‘See what’s going on in Colorado? Do you want to move back to America? Because Montana is open for business, and we would welcome you here.’”
Wow a cool governor 😎! I have a fake book friend who lives in Havre,Montana. Scenic as heck but -40° & blizzards in winter +extreme summer heat is a bit much. I’d love to visit Big Sky Country though.
LOL! Many of my grandparents generation moved to Montana in the 1930’s to ranch & farm. Telephone conversations when I was a child went like ” oh ya, da boys are working on da bulldozer in da machine shed since its a warm day only 26 below.
My grandfather came back to Missouri when my grandmother found out the nearest elementary school was a 100 miles away.
Yes blue states keep pushing all the arms manufactures and other major industries for that matter out to the red states. That cant possibly ever end poorly. Dont stop.
“The law bans the manufacturing and selling of semi-automatic firearms. This is on top of the liberal state’s existing ban on high-capacity magazines…”
So, you’ve chosen to use the Left’s own (incorrect and misapplied) term for such mags, hmm? They’re standard, not “large” or “high” cap.
(eyeroll)
Thanks for assisting the Lefties in their goals, guv.
It’s truly amazing to me how blind your average GOPer is. The Left openly tells you exactly what they’re doing and the R’s act like it never happened. Point it out and the response us “Nuuuuh uhhhh!” pretty much across the board.
Actually fight the Left in a meaningful way that would produce results? Nah, ain’t no one got time for that. There’s too much work to do shit talking the people who actually know how to do it, you know, in between bouts of complaining about how you had to go to work.
What in the literal hell are you talking about. You sound like a total idiot.
Gianforte is smart. Colorado is a dung heap, and the governor there, and much of the state legislature are out of touch with the majority of the state. Denver, similar to Portland in Oregon or Seattle in Washington, rules the state, but it does not reflect the whole state. Actually the best thing that red states can do is welcome that commerce into their states, this s smart. Why? It allows those red states to flourish and the blue ones to tumble further into economic obscurity. It’s a smart move.
lots of different ways to fight, s9..
What we need is for the FFL system to be completely redesigned. Go away from the FFL being linked to the state of residence. Let me use an FFL in Florida, or Utah, or whatever. Make no attempt whatsoever to comply with state laws of residence, only state law at point of sale. If I get busted for an illegal gun in my state, thats on me. Thats how everything else with regards to firearms works. If I want to buy a 30 round magazine, no problem, dont buy it in cA. If I’m busted with it CA, NY, etc, confiscated and fine.
Try Tennessee too. We’ve got Smith and Wesson and Beretta so far, only 45 days of winter and 8 hours to the ocean!
Colorado has become an extension of California. Leftist Californians move to Colorado to escape the hight taxes and cost of living but take their cancerous California attitudes with them to destroy what was once a great state.
