Tedra Cobb is running for a seat in the US Congress to represent New York’s 21st congressional district, the northeast quadrant of the state. And because she’s running on the Democrat side, it goes without saying that she’s all for more restrictions on the right to keep and bear arms. That’s just one of the litmus tests for blue party candidacy these days.

She recently sat down with a group of teens somewhere and the topic of gun control came up. During the conversation, she described an exchange she had while pressing the flesh on the campaign trail.

As freebeacon.com reports, the conversation went like this:

“When I was at this thing today, it was the first table I was at, a woman said, ‘How do you feel about assault rifles?’ And I said they should be banned,” Cobb can be heard saying in the video recorded by one of the attendees. “And I said, you know, people were getting up to go, to go get their lunch because it was a buffet, and I just said to her, I want you to know Cindy, I cannot say that.”

When the woman pushed back on Cobb keeping quiet on how she feels about banning certain firearms, Cobb said coming out in favor of a gun ban would lead to her losing her bid against Republican incumbent Elise Stefanik.

“And she said, ‘Well, I want you to’ and I said, ‘I won’t win,'” Cobb said. “I said Moms Demand [Action] says, and Tricia Pleau said, ‘Do not say that you want an assault rifle ban because you will not win.'”

Here’s the video of the conversation. Jump to the 1:45 mark:

Tricia Pleau is a member of the New York chapter of the gun-control group Moms Demand Action.

Since Ms. Cobb has taken an upstate newspaper’s no-lie pledge, maybe she should be asked bout her desire to ban assault weapons by constituents she meets between now and November. Repeatedly.

Just don’t bother asking her what exactly constitutes a so-called assault rifle. She won’t know and likely doesn’t really care. Those kinds of details are just…details. She just knows she against ’em.

Thanks to Moms Demand Action, she’s been briefed sufficiently to know that she needs to keep her yap shut about just how opposed she is to civilian firearms ownership. As she made clear, she wants to ban “assault weapons,” but she knows that since she’s running in upstate New York, saying so would be political suicide.

That’s also why you won’t hear her utter the words “gun control” unless, of course, someone else shoots more video of her on the down low.

As one of the others in the group above mentioned, the preferred term of art these days is “gun safety.” Cobb will be happy to tell you that she supports enacting common sense gun safety measures to do something about gun violence. Got it?

  1. They only have lies. And in the interwebz age their lies do not go unchallenged. Their lies have caught up with them. Watch november and Trumps second term.

We will have constitutional carry by the end of his second term. Maybe sooner.

What I look forward to is a scotus ruling that hassling gun owners is actually, legally, an offense against the civil rights laws.

    • ^^^ this ^^^
I play the “civil rights” card as hard and as often as the story relates to it in every news source I can find…. mostly because I think the civil rights angle is a winner and also because I love to imagine liberal’s heads exploding when I call them “bigots”.
      🤠

      • Make that “human rights”. Humans have been armed for about 2 million years. If we hadn’t, we’d have gone extinct.

  2. It might be worth noting that the dictionary definition of “assault weapon” has now been recently changed to include SEMI-AUTO ONLY FIREARMS. Apparently, so many anti-gun idiots call an AR-15 an “Assault Weapon” that it was just easier to change the definition than to educate the simpletons. Confucius who once said “the beginning of wisdom is to call things by their right name” must be spinning in his grave.

      • Shannon Watts already went on Twitter and confirmed that she wants bolt action .22 rifles to be classified as assault weapons. Thats gotta be the most common and least regulated firearm in the world for civilian ownership.

    • “Assault Weapon” is a political and legal term defined in the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994. A “Assault Rifle” is defined as a select fire rifle that fires an intermediary round and was coined as the new name for the MP43. Looks like we have just as many “pro-gun” idiots as the other side.

Don’t call people idiots when you personalty don’t know what you are taking about.

      • Actually, Binder, you’re the idiot here and rocketman is 100% correct with his post. In March this year, the Merriam-Webster dictionary officially changed THEIR definition of an “assault rifle.”

        Here’s a link:

        http://thefederalist.com/2018/03/31/merriam-webster-online-dictionary-changes-definition-assault-rifle/

Everyone on this site is fully aware of the government’s definition of an assault rifle and that’s not what rocketman was discussing in his post.

Do really think that libtards and “journalists” are actually going to take the time to find the government’s legal classification? Hell no! They’re going to choose the easiest, most convenient to find source (especially one that gives a definition they agree with) and they’ll reference it.

Maybe next time you should take a few extra seconds to think about what’s being discussed before you start casting stones at fellow gun owners.

        • Uh, OP said “assault weapon”, not “assault rifle”. Miriam Webester changed the definition of “assault rifle”. So yes, Rocketman WAS mistaken.

We’re in this mess partially BECAUSE of those two terms being conflated or used interchangeable. I would have avoided the insults, but it was absolutely right for OP to be called out on the inaccuracy

    • The dictionary should also provide a new definition of ” liberal” when it pertains to political ideology.

      • Yes, it should. But since the misnamed “liberals” have taken over the means of cultural production, no “mainstream” dictionary will ever include a true definition of the regressive totalitarians who are in charge of defining our terms.

    • The area of NY she is running for is upstate not NY city, her opponent is a Republican that holds the current seat.
She will have a difficult time of it and with this ,on tape she may have just done herself a disservice,or one may hope.

      • Her district includes much of the Adirondacks. This recording won’t go over well up there with the locals. The transplants from urban areas are another story…

  3. The overwhelming majority of people agree with their policy positions, and it’s only the gun industry, through their evil NRA mouthpiece, that blocks their efforts.

Also, they have to keep their policy positions secret because people wouldn’t vote for them if they knew.

    No contradiction there, right?

  4. “assault weapon” has now been recently changed to include SEMI-AUTO ONLY FIREARMS. Apparently, so many anti-gun idiots call an AR-15 an “Assault Weapon” that it was just easier to change the definition than to educate the simpletons…
Two Can Play That Game – For Now On I Identify My AR-15 “Assault Rifle” As My RUGER AR-556MPR, I Call It As I see It…

    • And the United States Government has just said that “non-automatic firearms up to .50-caliber – including modern semi-auto sporting rifles such as the popular AR-15 and similar firearms – are not inherently military.” thus making the argument that an AR-15 is a “assault weapon”, “assault rifle”, “military style assault weapon” and “weapon of war” invalid.

      It’s crazy world…

I am happy to correct people who don’t know the difference.
As for “pro-gun” political types, learn the difference, please.

  5. We used to have real diversity in the Dem party. They purged all.that over the last 20 years using the media, schools, and radical tactics. It was easy to find warm bodies to do what they wanted, no need for experience or brains.
Guns are not the only dog tricks they have, the gained runs from immigration to religion and spending.
We are going to end up like so many European countries with either a permanent liberal socialist government or two warring sides that can get anything done. I’ll take door number two because it slows down the advance of socialism.

    • If the witch would have gotten elected, they would have had their socialism completed. But when Donald Trump was elected , it fouled up their scheme and that is why they have gone so berserk. I think, and I hope I am wrong, that if they get beat bad in the next election then the civil strife will begin just like in the pre Hitler Germany. Some of the ” brown shirts” aka Antifa, blm etc, are already around. If I am wrong I will be happy to be wrong.

  6. My 14 years old daughter said fuck off. She keeping her bow crossbow Firearms an special her Ar15. Y’all approval isn’t needed .

  7. as the late great charles krauthammer once quipped when queried about the difference between a socialist and a democrat:

“a democrat is a socialist with a filter”

  8. Tedra Commie is from across the big lake in occupied territory in New Yorkistan.I’ve suffered through her commercials and her Anti America,Constitution and anti second amendment comes across loud and clear.
Heres to her loss and I can’t vote for or against her,but if she looses I won’t have to hear her commercials

  9. I’ve had it with “common sense.”. What the hell does “common sense” have to do with legislation? “Common sense” is frequently dead wrong.

Common sense told us the world was flat.
Common sense would say you could never build a ship out of metal because metal doesn’t float.
Common sense would say airplanes are impossible because metal is heavy.

Common sense is another way of saying “lazy stupidity.”

  10. Hows about just be a truthful candidate bitches???
You want to ban a gun say so.
Don’t get elected for being honest with your voters. Jesh that’s a new one.

  11. As far north/rural as that district is, it is simply incomprehensible that any candidate, even a D, could be anti-gun. I would assume that most homes and cabins out there have shotguns and/or deer rifles, and plenty have undeclared black rifles. Home of the 10th Mountain Division. Also home to various state prisons including from which hardened criminals escaped with the help of a guard. Yes indeed I’d have the AR and the shotgun. Or in NY an SKS and a shotgun. Jeez Louise. Her website makes her out to be a local, but it conveniently does not mention where her pre-college life was lived. NYC, perhaps? Her “majors” in college (SUNY Potsdam), where she became acquainted with the North Country, were Spanish/EOSL and Sociology. Yikes. That says it all. Those of us from NY know that those who went to SUNY Potsdam and the other far-upstate schools and were not locals went there because they literally could not get in anywhere else. Her presence in an otherwise rural area more like Montana than what people think of NY is an insult to those whose values are in keeping with their locale.
