I’m sitting here watching the 1964 Rudolf the red nosed reindeer and noticed Yukon Cornelius has a revolver in his belt. How we’ve slipped as a society since then. You wouldn’t even see a toy gun in a Christmas special nowadays.

Didn’t he shoot it too? Been a looooong time since I’ve seen it, but I could have sworn he fired it into the air at one point.
I think he actually shot a shovel or something that someone was swinging at another character… but it HAS been forever.

I had a little Yosemite Sam Xmas decoration for the tree for many years but have since lost it; he was packing two revolvers, pointing into the air on either side. “Back off, ya varmints!”
True story; the most popular holiday film of all time centers entirely on a toy gun. Also true; the most popular gift for boys this year (and many years past) is a video game that puts you behind firearms of all different types.
I don’t know about that. Ive got a shitload of guns in my Christmas special.

Speaking of Christmas and 12 days and all. What happened to the Moms Demand “12 days of gun-control activism”? It seems to have disappeared at day 6. Yea, back in the days when an Oath to protect the Constitution and traditional American values was kept. We were still free. Police Officers were public servants, not the worst thugs on the streets with immunity from prosecution when they committed crimes.

From the book “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Making Of The Rankin/Bass Holiday Classic”
“On the following pages, you’ll find Romeo’s original October 28th, 1963 draft of his Rudolph
screenplay. It’s the most interesting draft of the script and really gives an insight to what Romeo (and
for that matter, Arthur Rankin and Jules Bass) were thinking. You can see the many song ideas that
were nixed for time, and some of the revisions hand-written right on the page. One scene in particular
to note is on page 4-3, in which Yukon Cornelius pulls his guns, firing a cork from one and a blast
from another. This action was altered by the producers and perhaps was a “no no” even in 1964. It
certainly would have been trimmed by the networks today.”
What happened to the moms 12 days of “gun-control Christmas activism”. It seems to have lost its steam at day 6. Maybe this, combined with the PEW poll, is a good talking point to take the offensive on.
For the record, his essential supplies are “cornmeal, gun powder, ham hocks and guitar strings”.
