And there he isn’t: MikeB302000. My apologies. I relied on reporting from that font of all things accurate in the world of journalism: mantecabulletin.com. The man above is Mike Barkley, a far left loon (can I use that word?) running for Congress. “Mike Barkley is a former member of the National Rifle Association. He has carried a 45 Smith & Wesson as protection against wild boars and mountain lions on his family’s Northern California ranch.” Which means that Barkley “has no qualms with individuals exercising the privilege to possess weapons to protect themselves.” Really? No, not really . . .

“To address that he’s proposing a constitutional amendment that would impose an annual tax on every firearm in a household. Taxes would start at $10 for the first firearm, $20 for the second firearm, $30 for the third firearm, $100 each for the fourth through ninth firearms and $1,000 each for any firearm in excess of nine.

And under his proposed amendment should a firearm be lost or stolen it would result in a $1,000 penalty with the penalty rescinded or refunded if the firearm is recovered. But there’s a big caveat to that: If the firearm is used in the commission of a felony then an additional $1,000 penalty will be imposed.

Click here to read the rest of his platform. Suffice it to, MikeB302000 may be one with Mike Barkley, but they are not the same person. Apparently. Again, my apologies.

  1. I actually saw that article linked on KABA the other day but I wasn’t sure if this, MikeB’s identity, was common knowledge or not.

  2. LOL. I know this is a spoof, but it IS funny. I live in Manteca and have never heard of the guy. Manteca is all but the typical rural town. We call ourselves “The most patriotic city in America” since we fly over 6,000 flags every holiday. Yup. Were up to 6,000 now and growing. They line every street and are put out (and taken down) by volunteers. Here for more. http://www.mantecabulletin.com/archives/6415/

Every fallen soldier returns home here to a parade. And elections around here are typically battles between differing flavors of conservatives.

Besides, he’d have to win the primary against Dr. Jerry McNerney (PhD and Democrat) who holds the seat (big district which spans into Alameda and the Bay Area). McNerney is a bit of an inarticulate duffus, but he’s holds onto it from lack of viable competition.

If Mike truly lived here, held be welcome to join us down at the range. We offer free lessons for men and women alike. http://www.mantecasportsmen.org/

That is, if the experience wouldn’t scare him too much 😉

  3. I just lifted my chin up off the desk. He’s that schlub? He’s got a nut-sack bigger than California to take a run at public office with that shit blog of his following him around on the interwebs. He’s a fucking lawyer too. Figures. You wanna get (more) pissed at him? Check this out.

  4. I’d have to get three more jobs just to pay the taxes, and you wonder why I flame TROLLS. I’m going to leave before I get banned for life.

  5. Damn, I was sure mikey would look just like disgraced CU professor Ward Churchill… Too bad it’s a spoof!

  6. One and the same dude is he?
Well shoot and I booted a comment of his to the curb the other day on a post, an old old one I had done..
Good luck with these ideas there dude.
And I expect him to be leading the charge to each and every gun owners front door when he comes to get our guns…..Heh….
I’ll just sic the damn dog on him….

  7. “Adopt Labor Union Bill of Rights for all unions, including government employee unions, nationwide:
    Adopt right to collective bargaining
    Adopt right to strike
    Adopt “card check”
    Abolish “right to work”
Provide that union certification votes shall succeed by a majority of those workers voting, not by a majority of workers eligible to vote
Allow food stamps for striking workers and their families”

From his personal website http://www.mjbarkl.com/run.htm . If you didn’t think he was batshit crazy before, this may sway you.

  8. interesting, given the shrillness of his posts, i envisioned him to be a much younger person:
“He’s got a nut-sack bigger than California to take a run at public office with that shit blog of his”

LOL def, couldn’t say it better myself

  9. What a moron. Acutally, I meant to say domestic enemy. I hope the website owners here can dig up some of Mike’s comments and send them to the domestic enemy’s opponent so he can’t pose as pro rights.

  10. Based on the tone and substance of his arguments, I always pictured MikeB as being about 25 years old and either just graduated with a degree in, or maybe doing a graduate degree in something like Left-handed Transgendered Fluffy Bunny Sociology and Peace Studies.

But what do you mean by “spoof,” Scott?

Go to the homepage for the Manteca Bulletin.

    http://www.mantecabulletin.com/

Search “Mike Barkley” in the archives.

He shows up at least twice in the same archives that Scott shows for his “6000 Flags” story. It’s not a spoof.

    • I just meant spoof as in couldn’t be the same person. Looks like you found the reporting error.

      Funny though.

  11. Okay. It’s not a “spoof,” it’s an error in reportage.

Mike Barkley and MikeB are in ideological lockstep, but they are not the same person.

The Manteca Bulletin misreported that Mike Barkley’s blog is MikeB’s blog.

But Barkley most certain IS running for Congress with repeal of the Second Amendment as a major plank in his platform. And those are his words.

  12. Come out, come out, whoever you are MikeB302000. I’m a little surprised that He hasn’t piped/checked in by now. Here’s wishing you good luck in your campaign and further wishing that you and your ilk are relegated into the dustbin of history.

BTW MikeB, when and if your repeal of the Second Amendment comes to fore, you are personally going to assist in its enforcement, right? I’m mean, you wouldn’t want to risk the lives of all those little guys and gals who are just following your orders, right? You know, to carry out your enlightened scheme without giving them proper leadership by example.

What a silly man you are.

  13. I saw that Manteca article yesterday and tried to comment there. It turned out to be so difficult to register that I said the hell with it.

Not only did the author wrongly say that I and Mike Barkley are one and the same, he also referred to me as Mikeb303000, so I didn’t even get any hits out of the deal.

I don’t know if I’m in “lockstep” with this Barkley character, as one of the commenters so cleverly put it. I think you guys are too quick to generalize.

    • Pot…meet kettle. Kettle…meet pot.

But we so WANTED you to be Mike Barkley. Can’t you for once allow us all to think like you Progressives do, and pretend that things are the way we wish they were? I mean, you know, like Liberals do all the time?

  14. Quasi-socialists opining for the evisceration of liberty? Sounds pretty “in lockstep” to me.
