The historical link between gun control and racist oppression in America is clear enough for anyone who dispassionately examines the record. Most people who are trying to roll back civilian ownership of firearms tend to be quiet about this truth. I’ll even be charitable and allow that some are simply ignorant of it. Not so much for Cedar Crest College Professor (and former Allentown city council member) Michael Donovan . . .

Allentown is one of a number of Keystone State cities that are repealing illegal, unenforceable firearms ordinances out of fear of lawsuits after Pennsylvania’s tough new preemption law was enacted last year. Professor Donavan, who was a a Democratic during his term in office, is upset that Allentown isn’t fighting the law. Why? Well, I’m glad you asked. Here are his words:

“Allentown is the third largest city in the state,” he said. “It is claiming a renaissance for wealthy, white individuals who wish to be safe. I believe the mayor has a responsibility to join the fight against this law.”

So forget the children. If banning guns in city parks saves just one white person…. It’s actually kind of heartwarming to see someone in favor of gun control willing to admit the truth about their agenda, no?

  1. Oh wow. I bet he’s not a fan of the KKK either. A dumbocrat who wants to protect rich white folks-he a mass of contradictions…and an a##wipe…

  2. Is this guy for real??
Id like to see a video or recorded statement made by him.
Then run him out of town,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  3. This guy needs a lot of help if he really thinks “wealthy, white people” want to live ANYWHERE near the shit hole that is Allentown.

  4. Well, he could be referring to “mixed income communities.”. They did that in Houston some time ago and I remember councilmen and such patting themselves on the back when this resulted in more racial diversity. Like if you got an oil millionaire to move into the fifth ward.

  5. Not to be out done – Michael Bloomberg steps in it as well.
    http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/02/07/bloomberg-suggests-banning-young-minority-males-from-gun-ownership/

According to The Aspen Times, Bloomberg addressed a variety of topics, and after commenting on poverty and education, he discussed guns. The Times reported that he said, “Cities need to get guns out of [the] … hands” of persons who are “male, minority, and between the ages of 15 and 25.”

He claimed that “95 percent of all murders fall into this category” and that taking guns away from them will not only reduce crime, but will “keep them alive.”

    • Bloomberg strikes me as the kind of guy who would help the nazis round up his people to save his own butt and then blame them for being religious

    • Although he says it in his own special way, Bloomberg highlights the issue that gun folks have recognized for years – we don’t have a “gun problem.” We have a gang problem; a problem with inner city youth with no education, no family, no decent role models, and no future. The difference is, we know that removing guns from the 98% of folks who don’t live in the inner city, and the 2% who do (and commit most of the “gun violence”) isn’t going to solve that problem.

    • Since keeping the guns out of the hands of this demographic will solve 95% of the violent gun crime, wouldn’t this also mean that he should leave the rest of us alone because we are not the problem? Isn’t this what we’ve been saying all along–that legal gun owners are not the issue, and that gun bans, registration and licensing schemes solve nothing?

      • ^ This!!!

Even better, if we can confirm that Bloomberg really said this, we can use this to rally fence sitters and people who are apathetic.

    • Then Bloombooger needs to get behind making “Yoots to LIberia” a reality. At the moment, there should be many empty huts over there and these gangbangin POS would look like highly edumacated businessmen in Liberia. Let it be done.

    • I’m a young Black man so I take particular offense to this. The only way they’re getting my guns is one round at a time, that’s for damn sure.

  6. I am glad to see a good honest racist for a change. It is refreshing to have an ” out of the closet” racist democrat trying to disarm black people. This history has never stopped. And he is a two fer. A democrat and intellectual with the education to backup his racist views. As far as the dishonest gun confiscation crowd goes they are racist. I have dealt with “honest” people before. At least I know the knife will come from the front.

  7. I’m about to Nostradamus all up in this bitch, so prepare your brain holes.

A spokesturd for MDA or Every Town or CSGV or whatever is going to come out an say that this fella and his thoughts don’t represent all of the gun control crowd. Some time after that, they’ll compare the next highly publicized shooter to everyone who owns an AR or a magazine with more than 10 rounds in it.

If mental gymnastics was an Olympic sport, they’d take the gold every time.

  8. Excellent, looks like we found our spokesman for the New (and Improved!) Founding Fathers party! White people: Vote for us today so you can Purge the darkies in Freedom tomorrow! Yee-haw!

(Satire, for all the hair trigger sensitives out there who didn’t get it)

  9. This is the type of diatribe from BOTH SIDES of the Political Elite that infect the upper echelon of those with power and money.

Freedom is for them. Justice is for the masses.

Tell this bastard his ilk needs to move to another country and try out his philosophy…. Russia comes to mind…

  10. Is this Mr Shannon Watts?

Great catch on Bloomberg’s position on gun control.

Now lets just drop that link into comment sections at TPM, Media Matters, HuffPo, Slate, NYT, WAPO, and watch progtard heads explode…

    • He might have Germanic blood in him, but Donovan is an Irish name going back to the 10th century or thereabouts.

  11. If banning guns saves just one renaissance minded wealthy, white person…..
A new clarion call for Shannon, Bloomie, DiFi, Gabby, and all the other “civic” minded individuals.
Think of the wealthy white people!

  12. Gun control does protect wealthy white folks. We need to run with this fact now that a Democrat has pointed it out.
See, wealthy white folks can move to and develop neighborhoods that are exclusive. They can have private security, or pay higher property tax that funds local law enforcement. They can afford home security systems and bugout shelters.
Wealthy white folks are Democrat because they can afford to be. I can’t afford the rich white man’s party. That’s right, I said it. The democrat party is the rich white man’s party and the poor black man’s party. I do not fit into either category. I am middle class white and the Democrats don’t have anything I want. I want freedom. One time, not long ago, blacks wanted freedom too. How free can we be with more gun control?

  13. You’re living in a fantasy world if you think civil rights, e.g. affirmative action, for minorities is connected with the Second Amendment. Blacks overwhelmingly support gun control and Barack Hussein Obama. Blacks hate that whites are armed and can successfully resist black violent crime. This is a civil rights issue, but not in the sense you are claiming. The Second Amendment is to protect whites from black violent crime, communism, and Muslim terrorism. And there is no evidence that the Gun Control Act of 1934 was motivated by anything related to black crime, but designed to disarm whites who might resist FDR’s attack on the the Constitution. Shoehorning black grievances with the Second Amendment will not work out well for the Second Amendment.

  14. To the author of this post. You were not in that meeting, nor know the context to which I was speaking. I was sarcastic about a Mayor who has undertaken policies that are focused on a wealthy class and had done nothing to establish adequate public policy that affects the entire community, including issues with crime and gun control. He was ignoring an opportunity to protect all citizens.

So, I resent your taking a newspaper article that did not provide the entire talk I gave or the focus on safety for the complete city, no matter what class, race, or ethnic group.
