Here’s hoping that that you made the ‘nice’ list this year and ol’ Kris Kringle was good to you. May you spend the day with some of your favorite people, eat lots of your favorite foods and avoid the most annoying of your inlaws.

From all of us to all of you, Merry Christmas.

We’ll be running some vintage content over the holiday week to give our usual contributors some much deserved time off. Enjoy.

  1. I don’t hate Christmas. M’kay?

I wish all of our readers, their family and friends a merry Christmas!

PS. As an African American, I’m looking forward to the start of Kwanza.

  2. Thanks, same to you. Loved that ornament in your picture!
So far so good. No political conversations…..so far. 🙂

  3. As it turns out, neither Santa nor his elves have their federal firearm license. Fortunately, my local sporting goods store does and jumped into the Christmas spirit with both feet: a few days ago they sold me a new Taurus compact semi-auto pistol in 9mm Luger (model G2S) on sale for $180! I had absolutely no application in mind for it when I bought it. Regardless, I just could not pass it up at that price.

The way I look at it, a compact pistol with single-stack magazine is thin, relatively light (but not too light), and easy to conceal. And with 7+1 rounds of 9mm Luger goodness, it is a respectable self-defense platform for muggers, car-jackers, coyotes, and feral dogs. What’s not to like, especially for $180?!?!?

Merry Christmas and happy New Year everyone!

  4. Working a 12 hour shift today on top of the 12 hour shift yesterday, and possibly working an overtime shift tomorrow. My fifth year in a row working on Christmas! The first one was the hardest as it was my first Christmas after getting married as well. Now it’s just irritating because it feels like the holiday is wasted and everything is back to normal by the time I get off! The paycheck next week will be nice though, so I guess it isn’t all bad.

    • I *loved* working major holidays at the chemical factory. No one important around to hassle you, and every hour was at time-an-a-half, OT was double pay!

      • I also work at a chemical plant, 24/7 production! It is admittedly quiet so that’s a plus. And the paycheck is nice but it doesn’t do you much good until a week or two later.

        • I worked 2 jobs for over 20 years. Lots of Christmas photos of me and the kids where I was wearing my work clothes. I had either just gotten off work or was on my way to. Tough years. But it’s what we do for our families.

        • Yup. When I started my career, I always got Christmas off. Later, as a veteran, I volunteered to work to let the younger guys with kids stay home.
Didn’t hurt that Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were double time and a half!
I too have Christmas photos with me in uniform.

    • heard that. 16 friday, 16 monday, 8 today. got a chance to stop and see maw for a couple hours. off at ten, back at six.

  5. I have had a damn fine and prosperous year. My tribe has increased by more grand kids and my health and finances are bloody good. So, what’s not to like?

Merry Christmas to all and to all a happy new year.

  6. “How The Soviets Replaced Christmas With A Socialist Winter Holiday”

“Once the communists took control of the Russian state, the usual calendar of religious holidays was naturally abolished. Easter was outlawed, and during the years when weekends were removed, Easter was especially difficult to celebrate, even privately.

But perhaps the most difficult religious holiday to suppress was Christmas, and much of this is evidenced in the fact that Christmas wasn’t so much abolished as replaced by a secular version with similar rituals.”

And the Leftists want to do this to us… 🙁

  7. Happy Holidays (for all Americans) Muslims, Buddhist, Sikhs, Atheists, Agnostics, Zoroastrians, Taoist, Shinto, Jews, Falun Gong,Confucianism,Korean shamanism,Caodaism,Jainism ,Cheondoism to name just a few religions in the U.S.

Damn did I leave any one out. Probably but you get the picture on why we should say Happy Holidays or Seasons Greetings. Its called being polite.

    • MoreAdventures,

Saying “Happy Holidays” to people who observe other religions doesn’t even make sense since they don’t have anything remotely similar to the Christmas celebration at the same time of year. And “Season’s Greetings” is even more meaningless.

What is so “impolite” about saying Merry Christmas to someone if they do not observe Christmas? If someone who observes a different religion than me says “Happy [religious holiday]”, I could care less and see nothing impolite about it.

Do you want to know what is impolite? Telling someone that they cannot publicly celebrate their religious holiday and express associated joyous well-wishes.

Next time, save some electrons and just type, “Bah humbug!”

      • Spoken like a true Un-American and Blasphemer of Christianity.

No one said you could not wish a Merry Christmas to a person whom you know is another Christian. Saying it to strangers is rude, racist, and being a religious bigot. You passed the test.

        • Merry Christmas, Vlad the Crisco Impaler from Other Planets.

Now that it’s Christmas Day, we take out the Three Wise Kings and place them on the far end of the house. Each day for the next twelve days (hence the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas”) until Epiphany, we move the three figurines closer to the Nativity scene, signifying their journey to see him. All the other ornaments and decorations slowly get put away, but the Nativity stays out until last, when the Wise Kings finally reach the scene on Jan 6 and join up with Joseph, Mary, and little baby Jesus.

It’s not Festivus Day, it’s not Kwanzaa season, and it’s definitely not Santa’s Advent. It’s Christmas.

So Merry Christmas, Vlad. Today you get a pass, but tomorrow’s a new day. 🙂

        • You’re a full blown, f’in idiot. The President of the company where I work is Jewish and if he wished me Happy Hanukkah I wouldn’t be offended and would just say thank you, same to you . But then again, I don’t create problems where none exist.

        • Merry Christmas to all at TTAG! Gotta hand it to that alien troll. He is a pro. Instead of being alone and bitter in his mommy’s basement, he now has a “conversation” with real people. I guess as decent folk, one has to feed them once in a while.

      • I should have stated that saying Happy Holidays shows respect for all religions especially religions other than your own. Again its called being polite.

Say Merry Christmas to your own group but don’t push it on everyone else. The last time I checked the U.S. is not a Christian Caliphate.

    • As a non-Christian, always amusing to watch the klans party get outraged on behalf of those who couldn’t care less.

    • You must be out of the leftist loop. You certainly don’t have the most up to date and with it information from your liberal gods. Happy holidays is now offensive once again too because the new leftist teachings dictate *no religions* what so ever. Religions are now childish backwater belief systems we cannot accept ANY of them. Beliefs are not to be tolerated unless the belief lies in Perfection of the state.

      • No the real truth is that guys like you want a Christian Caliphate and most will come right out and say it. A Republican Matt Shea got caught supporting a Right Wing Supremacist group that wanted to murder all men who were not Christians. And theses guys have room to criticize Isis. There is no difference between them. None.

      • Karl Marx said religion was the opiate of the people, so they tried to replace religion with real opiates, and see where that got us.

      • We did, too! Karl got “shooted real good” by Al at the end. Good ‘ol Al.

So many lines to choose from:

“Guess we’ll need some more FBI guys…”

        “Welcome to the party, pal!”

        “Shoot…the…glass…”

“Doh! And the quarterback is toast!”

        “Yippy kai yay, mother !”

    • “I will be watching a great Christmas movie today. Die Hard!!
      (smile)”

Watching it right now, on WGN…

        • Monomania (n):
1-Pathological obsession with one idea or subject.
2-Intent concentration on or exaggerated enthusiasm for a single subject or idea.
3-Insanity in which there is a more or less complete limitation of the perverted mental action to a particular field, as a specific delusion, or an impulse to do some particular thing. The other mental functions may show some signs of degeneration.

  8. Just want to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone here especially those in the comments from the past few days that said it to me. Hope everyone’s family and friends are enjoying themselves and a prayer for those having a hard time.

Anyone else waiting for the New Year’s Eve mag dumps?

      • Some guys in their yard or on their farm have been shooting since lunch. Love my red state. Country living. Have a few deputies and troopers as neighbors.

  9. Day late, sorry about that.

So, thank you for the gift — 5 years+, hanging out, reading and commenting on TTAG has legit been part of rebuilding post my stroke. (Not gun-related; haters.) Thanks for the sandbox, the brain-ups, and putting up with my rambles, bad edits, and unfiltered typos.
