As wjla.com reported, Marine Cpl. William “Kyle” Carpenter will be awarded the Medal of Honor at a ceremony at the White House today. In November of 2010, Cpl. Carpenter and another Marine, Cpl. Nicholas Eufrazio were on a rooftop in Helmand Province, Afghanistan when an enemy grenade landed near them. “Carpenter placed himself between the grenade and Eufrazio to shield him. The blast deflected down, with Carpenter absorbing most of the explosion. Eufrazio received a head injury from shrapnel. But Carpenter was severely wounded, sustaining a depressed skull, a collapsed right lung, multiple facial fractures, the loss of a third of his lower jaw and fragment injuries to his arms and legs” . . .
After what’s no doubt been long and difficult road to recovery, Cpl. Carpenter recently visited FN Manufacturing. Here’s FN’s press release:
On June 13, 2014, Cpl. Kyle Carpenter toured the FN Manufacturing facility in Columbia, South Carolina to learn more about our manufacturing operations, spend time talking with our employees and to participate in a live-fire demonstration of FN firearms.
Cpl. Carpenter, a former SAW gunner, is due to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor for conspicuous gallantry on June 19, 2014 for his courageous actions during Operation Enduring Freedom.

It’s absolutely amazing to see a man who took a grenade (and flatlined) walking around shooting full-auto weapons and smiling like it’s any other day. That’s resilience. Best to you, Cpl. Carpenter!

I have been lucky to shake the hand of a couple of MOH awardees. Funny thing about watching these honored men and hearing their stories.. I get some dust in my eyes without fail.
Would always love to meet an MOH hero over any celebrity or bigwig.
I saw the traitor obummer give him his medal today. I pray his sacrifice was not in vain. I salute you sir.
