In its infinite wisdom, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has made the sale or possession of a bump fire stock or trigger crank a crime. They sent a letter to gun owners — of whom they have a list — giving owners of said devices 90 days to turn them into police. Without any financial compensation. Here’s the missive . . .

    • “Well POTG in MA – time to pop smoke and get outta dodge. If enough of you move, the Commonwealth may realize how much they screwed up.”

Well, one could always move to safe, secure Europe.

Check out this enlightening ‘lil news-flash :

“Sweden Is Preparing For A “Civil War”: PM Wants To Deploy Army In No-Go Zones”

“”It’s not my first action to put in a military, but I’m prepared to do what it takes to ensure that the seriously organized crime goes away,” Lofven said after the party leadership discussion in parliament.

“But it is also obvious that there are social problems. Last year 300 shootings occurred, 40 people were killed. The new year has begun with new launches. We see criminals with total lack of respect for human life, it’s a terrible development I’m determined to turn around,” he added.

Even the Swedish Democrat leader Jimmie Akesson “declared war” against organized crime and suggested that Sweden should deploy the military to no-go zones to counter the out of control violence.

“People are shot to death in pizza restaurants, people are killed by hand grenades they find on the street,” Akesson said in parliament on Wednesday.

“This is the new Sweden; the new, exciting dynamic, multicultural paradise that so many here in this assembly … have fought to create for so many years,” he said sarcastically.”

Sweden made their bed, now they get to lay in it.

While their “peaceful immigrants” are exposing their young women (*and* young boys) to new, exciting, and vibrant cultural exchanges via exposure to certain reproductive bodily fluids…

      • Sounds like its high time for all the pro-2A massholes to man up and storm the state house and fire some people 1700s style….instead they’ll let the state shit on even more of their rights. It seems no coincidence that in the absolute WORST states (i.e. MA. N.J. etc.) The state troopers uniforms strike a uncanny likeness of a Nazi SS uniform…just a different hat and color.
        FTF.

        • “Sounds like its high time for all the pro-2A massholes to man up and storm the state house and fire some people 1700s style….”

Don’t hold your breath on that.

Like your call on the state trooper unis. Spot on.

        • It’s not a matter of letting them shit on our rights. When your outnumbered probably 3-1 its difficult to kill bad legislation let alone get good legislation passed. We have rallies whenever this kind of legislation comes up. We also go to the public hearings and speak out. What the article doesn’t mention is that this all happened on no notice and no public hearing. It was slapped onto the budget and passed. We had no chance to go to the state house and fight it

  2. A bump stock or trigger crank is easily hidden away in some buried cache or secret hidey hole for a couple years until this dies down. They know who owns guns, but they have no way of knowing who owns a bump stock or trigger crank.

    • If you purchased it new, especially from a dealer or manufacturer, let alone paid by anything other than cash, I guaran-effen-tee they can know if they want to.

      • Nope. Even if they could subpoena all someone’s credit card records, for which they’d need to have a reason other than “is a citizen of Massachusetts who owns guns,” it would be difficult to prove. Most people buy through online or brick-and-mortar retailers and the credit card statement doesn’t itemize what you bought. If you bought directly from the manufacturer, maybe they could prove it. But, again, they can’t just subpoena everyone in MA’s credit card records just because they feel like it.

        • This^^

Most laymen don’t understand that when they use their CC, the only two entities that know what was purchased are the store, and the customer. Everyone else usually gets a store identification / location / timestamp / IP log, etc. Itemization isn’t something the bank keeps track of.

Now, if you use one of those stupid rewards cards, yes, they keep track, and the company you got the card through is selling that information to anyone who asks. Including localities who want to extort pet licensing fees out of you because you bought pet food.

        • Thanks doesky2, good to know there are a technically literate folks out there, who really do understand what the NSA is doing.

It’s truly scary that the average Joe still doesn’t know that if it travels the web (as well as a host of other means) it is recorded and monitored, in real time. ‘Pre-crime’ isn’t a dystopian fantasy, it’s a stated goal of the intel community, and they drill the algos down better every day with many millions of dollars behind them.

The Narus product line has been wide public knowledge for over a decade (not to mention DARPA and a host of others) and yet, somehow, people think it’s somehow impossible, or more farcically, that there are laws and rules for our data, and that the government actually follows them.

      • “I threw the bump stock that I purchased in the trash. I couldn’t bear the thought of owning something so awful.”

There, problem solved. You can’t be arrested for not possessing in illegal item, nor are you under any obligation to show you got rid of the item.

    • True, from the FRB perspective. Healey could probably Force or intimidate the companies to produce a list of buyers in the Commonwealth.

I couldn’t help but notice that selling out of state was not a listed option. 😧

      • “I couldn’t help but notice that selling out of state was not a listed option.”

Yup, but what’s the remedy for the aggrieved in this case?

Find a compliant federal judge to issue a stay?

        TTAG legal corps?

        • Just sue the state for the value of the device. Make sure you have the receipt of purchase and a receipt from the police department. I can almost guarantee you will win. Now if you think the effort is worth it, that is another matter.

      • Yeah, just like she forced Remington and Glock to give up their records.

If any company want some easy goodwill from gun owners, they’ll yell loud and clear where she can put all those confiscated stocks

    • It was Goebbels and called the Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment. The Mass Executive Office of Public Safety and Security is the same principle under a slightly more progressive name.

      • The Mass State Police uniforms would probably look familiar to those folks, albeit in blue. The boots are the same…

  3. LOL, totally unenforceable. I hope they don’t get a single one turned in. Break out the popcorn. I love how the government demands property without compensation. Gee, back where I’m from we call this theft.

  4. LOL, I just looked up a pic of that Daniel Bennett tool. Yeah, he’s definitely one of those “I was just doing my job” kind of traitors.

I imagine there must be lots of boating accidents happening right now. If not, there should be.

  5. Not allowing owner to sell or transfer is confiscation without compensation. Big no no.

The ban might ban legal scrutiny in Commichussets, but not confiscation without compensation

    • Yeah, with a bunch of RINO Globalists leading the charge.

      1. Gov. Charlie “The Barker ” Baker. (R=RINO.)

      2. Lt. Gov. Karen Politio- another a plus GOAL.Org candidate. Was supposed to be “Pro Gun/NRA.” BWHaha haha. ( R=RINO.)

[Note: Please Help end their political careers. Both inside Massachusetts, and prevent it from spreading to other states. Or, on a national level…]

  6. Can you hear it? …………The Tyranny? will the Gestapo show up with SWAT for non compliance? Who wants to be the first martyr.

    • I believe you are referring to April 19,1775. Seems people had a lot more intestinal fortitude back in those days. Certainly a far better understanding of Freedom and what loosing it would mean. Keep Your Powder Dry…

  7. Knock, knock. Police officer ,”We are going house to house and you need to answer a few questions. Do you have any firearms.? Do you have a Bumpfire stock? May I search your residence?”. ” You appear nervous, your hiding something, place your hands behind your back NOW.” CLICK CLICK. 69 to dispatch, I have suspect in custody.

  8. Personally, I don’t give a flying bat sh*t about bump stocks. Face it, they’re stupid.

The NRA knows which battles to fight.

    • “First they came for the bump stocks but I didn’t say anything because I didn’t have any and they’re stupid…then…” – well, I think you know how this goes

    • the nra is a bunch of dumbasses or cowards or both and everybody with two or more brain cells to rub together on this issue knows it

its high time everybody else comes to the same conclusion

all the nra had to do is keep their mouths shut for two weeks until all the crap blew over and this whole bump stock thing would be a distant memory by now

      but no

and now the atf is going after triggers because the nra essentially opened the door for them to

      thanks nra

can i have my money back now please

      • The NRA opened the door for the ATF to do what they’re doing?

Ok, stop. Think about what you’re implying. Don’t even think about what the NRA has said. You’re suggesting that the ATF is working at the behest of the NRA. Think about how ridiculous that is. Try to imagine the ATF: “Let’s do a blitz on FFL’s to see if they are in compliance this week.” “Wait, have we checked with the NRA to see if it’s ok?”

No one has to agree with the NRA’s statement on bump stocks. But to actually place blame on the NRA for what the ATF is doing is blatant idiocy. It’s the same as unhinged liberals blaming the NRA for mass shootings. The NRA has nothing to do with either murder or the ATF.

    • The NRA new exactly what to do, it was the ATF that messed up. The original side fire was classified as a machine gun. They took out a spring and now it functions even better and got past the ATF. So now we have what was once called a machine gun and now even more effective reclassified as a semi auto. What do you think was going to happen when someone used it in a massacre? The NRA even gave the ATF a really big hint, but they could not see it.
Now, do I think machine guns are significantly more effective than semi autos, no. But it is a nice fiction to tell people so we can keep our ARs.
This whole crap is way worse than the AWB, that was the antis just going after cosmetics. Now that we are blurring the difference between semi and fully automatic weapons anything can happen.

  9. To be honest, I’m not even sure there are that many of these stocks or trigger cranks in this state. There’s probably no plan to go out and look for them, the state is just hoping people will comply, and they can call it a success.

Just so everybody is clear, slingshots, fireworks, and booze bought in NH is also illegal here in MA. Guess how much of that stuff you can find in this state…

    • Just like Jersey . So few people have semi auto rifles it’s not a big deal. However if you travel through the DPRNJ with one, you’re gone.
In Mass apparently it’s life in jail because you’re a mass murderer in waiting.

  10. They are testing the waters with this. If they can confiscate bump stocks without paying a dime then complete guns are next.
They can’t afford a buyout so they jumped right to fork it over.
It’s unconstitutional as hell but there needs to be standing and even that takes years.

  11. As with all gun control measures past these days by the gun hating states, i’m sure compliance will be sketchy, enforcement will be selective, and prosecution will only apply to those who have no criminal ties so as to make ”cutting a deal’ to be nearly impossible.

  12. I am opening a bump stock and trigger sanctuary for neglected, unwanted or sad attachments. Just send them to me and a monthly donation of $10.00. Arizona has great climate for all types of firearms and their attachments.

    • As much of a joke as this is, I see a real business opportunity there.

I live outside my native state of California and want to buy a suppressor, but could maybe (hopefully not) move back there one day, where my property would be illegal to possess. A legal storage sanctuary for NFA items in a gun friendly state is a real unmet need.

  13. I would like to see how many are turned in by February 1, 2019. They probably won’t disclose this because they will be embarrassed. I hope there is a way to release the information.

  14. they forgot about option 3….lets also not forget that evil prevails when good men fail to act. come and get it. shall not be infringe. this is what I would like to call infringing

  15. Like I said before…Still waiting for restoration of the 2nd Amendment in Massachusetts. Where are President Trumps Pro2a reforms ?!

    • Trump isn’t a dictator.

He can’t force states to abide by the 2nd Amendment unless, for example, withholds federal funding.

Only the legislature and courts can affect change.

      • “One person, going from one state into another…Has the same kind of Rights as Any other person…in any other state….”

  16. If I lived in Shitholeachusetts, there is no way that I would voluntarily comply with this unconstitutional BS. If their jackbooted Storm Troopers showed up, they’d never find a thing. Of course, I would never live in a State that so completely disregards the Constitution of the United States.

  17. Dear Danny:
Assuming I had one of those, I’d rather shoot you with it than let a crooked thug like you steal it from me.

  18. Keep your bumpstocks and cranks. In 90 days, throw them over the fence of the politicians that approved this nonsense and call in an anonymous tip.

  19. So, is this the first time a database of gun owners has been used to tell those on the list to comply with some illegal edict?

IE: one of those lists that would never ever be compiled.

  20. So what happens if the original owner sold or gave the item to someone in another state before receiving this notice?
They may not have gotten/given a bill of sale or receipt…
Will they then be in violation and arrested?

    • They would have been in violation of the law nonetheless. The law specifically states that you can’t transfer them. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse

  21. Just wondering, If Mass gun owners said noway we will go to war. How many volunteers could they expect from other states. I’m guessing none. Much talk of revolting, when in fact the breath of forming the words are stronger then the words themselves.

      • Door to door searches of gun owners followed by confiscation? Don’t forget, when the AWB and registration passed in Connecticut, the forums and social media were on fire with Patriots nationwide planning to descend upon the state. This ultimately forced the governors hand to admit that the laws won’t be enforced outside of “discovery” during normal policing procedures. Something like 90% of owners refused to “register” their weapons and I don’t think Connecticut has taken a single action of targeting since the law passed. If Massachusetts starts kicking in doors, there’s no reason to think something similar won’t materialize. Everything has changed for gun owners since the confiscations during Katrina. Something like that will never go unanswered agin, without very severe and targeted, kinetic violence.

        • “Everything has changed for gun owners since the confiscations during Katrina”
Oh please. In 1934 were were under threat of losing hand guns. And if they were more common, semi auto riffles would probably have been throw in also. And to this day the only reason we kind of got back suppressors and SBRs was the effects of inflation. Just 25 years ago we had the AWB and most places (including Texas) you could not carry.

  22. If they get away with this in Mass, and they will, N.Y. and M.D. are right behind them. VA has a new gun grabber who’s only problem is a small R majority in the legislature. PA is relatively safe but who knows?
If they can get a contiguous area of laws against objects then that forms a superstate which cannot be avoided. The constitution is optional in a state such as it is. This is also known gently as Balkinization.

  23. How is this not an illegal taking? The Mass State Constitution has an article that is similar to the US Constitution’s.

    • I’m sure if you sue for compensation you will likely win, Just keep records of you turning it in. Oh and I hope your personal time is not worth too much.

  24. Massachusetts sucks, I took a job there 20 something years ago. The company paid me to relocate and paid for my moving expenses with the condition that if I quit before a year I had to repay everything I got.
At the 6 month mark I said this place sucks and cut them a check and took a job in Atlanta paying all out of pocket to get the hell out of there.

  25. Are trigger cranks a thing? Don’t think I’ve ever seen one. Surprised they thought them prevalent enough to incorporate them into this document.

    • Yeah, Jerry Miculek has a video of one installed on an AR. They look pretty sharp but I don’t think they really work that well.

  26. Just like here in Crappyfornia, I hear lots of whining but we keep losing the votes? How is that possible?
There is no way a bunch of welfare single parents are voting, nor are the homeless and illegals. I we took one other person with us to vote all of this would begin to change…

  27. Certified signature required letter declaring that your previously purchased bump stock was broken and subsequently trashed and disposed of prior to the new law and therefore you will unfortunately be unable to comply with the Massachusetts Wehrmacht’s dictate and just in case the Massachusetts Gestapo is deployed , a 6″ piece of PVC sealed and capped works just fine 6″ below the ground .
