    • Did anyone actually read all of these? Because many of them are pro-gun, at least in the sense that they are pulling back or overturning existing MA gun control laws. I mean, the last bill is for a repeal of the MA AWB and “high capacity” magazine laws. That same sponsor (George Peterson) also has a handful of other obviously pro-gun laws up as well. So do other people. This is NOT a list of 58 “gun control” laws!!! Did ‘we’ read them before posting, or just assume the worst?

  1. I’m glad I left MA a few months ago. I was worried I would be an insta-felon after Newtown due to insane legislation being passed. It didn’t get passed right away but this wall of infingement is awful for the people that still live there.

    • A la CA.

Soon everyone who draws breath and owns a firearm will be an offender of some sort sooner or later in which case that person becomes inellegible to own or possess a firearm.

      See what they’re doing there?

      • But they aren’t taking anyone’s gun away! They said so! Hickenlooper and Manchin even have pictures of them shooting guns so they support the 2nd! Any gun control argument allegedly appealing to reason is bunk.

  2. How could you tell if they banned pressure cookers, S1132 By Ms. Donoghue, a petition (accompanied by bill, Senate, No. 1132) of Eileen M. Donoghue, Gerard T. Leone, Jr., Middlesex District Attorney, James J. Dwyer, Thomas M. Stanley and other members of the General Court for legislation relative to dangerous weapons. Public Safety and Homeland Security. Found it. I have never seen a bigger mess in my life, some of it is good and some is bad, how can they vote for this as a package. Some of the amendments contradict some of the others. Morons unite.

    • It’s not a package. There is some pro-gun legislation in there, but mostly very terrible legislation. We’re all watching carefully and making calls frequently. My Rep and Senator are both proudly A rated by GOAL (the state NRA branch), and will be voting the right way.

  3. Wait a minute… some of these actually sound like they could be good ideas. At least from the short description:

#42 H3266 ….for legislation to prohibit counties, cities or towns from adopting ordinances or regulations concerning lawful firearms,

The short description sounds like it is trying to *prevent* more laws from being piled on.

    • Exactly. Like #9:
By Mr. Richard T. Moore, a petition (accompanied by bill, Senate, No. 1157) of Richard T. Moore, Angelo L. D’Emilia, Michael O. Moore, Stephen L. DiNatale and other members of the General Court for legislation to prohibit the confiscation of lawfully owned firearms during a state of emergency.

  4. Yes, not all of these are bad. Timilty is a good rep in a sea of stereotypical Massachusetts democrats and is supported by GOAL. Unfortunately, a lot of these bills are ridiculous and I look forward to the day that I leave the Commonwealth.

  5. Let the race to the bottom begin; we had a bit of a lull with NJ mostly dropping out thanks to their Gov. wanting to be a Republican president. MA wants to make it a three way race between California, New York and them for the state with the WORST gun laws.

  6. California ain’t looking quite so bad anymore 😛

But seriously, WTF, the country has lost it’s mind. I only hope that when they do finally ban all guns, I am no longer around to see the chaos that will ensue.

    • “California ain’t looking quite so bad anymore”

That day THAT statement is true with reference to private citizen gun rights is the day that I am either trading bullets in the street with one or more government entities, or Cali does a 2A about face on par with the Republican/Democrat platform swap of the 20th century.

  7. Am I reading the last one right??

” By Mr. Peterson of Grafton, a petition (accompanied by bill, House, No. 3274) of George N. Peterson, Jr. and others for legislation to repeal the ban on assault weapons and large capacity feeding devices. Public Safety and Homeland Security.”

… legislation to REPEAL the ban on assault weapons and large capacity feeding devices? How did that one get in there?

    • There are a couple of almost good sounding ideas in there, like the idea of a tax credit if you own a gun safe. I am suspicious however…if you own a gun safe, then you likely own firearms. You know, if it sounds too good to be true …

      • claim a gun safe on your taxes, which sends a red flag to HLS, which kicks in your door and takes all your guns and locks you up as a possible domestic terrorist? naww…..will never happen

    • George Peterson is one of the few “good” gun guys in the State. He has bills for ending AWB, tax credits for safes, and not allowing individual cities ban guns among others. Only problem is there is pretty much no chance any of them will pass.

  8. Wow just… wow some good some bad seems like they are feeding deficate into a motor driven oscillating air movement device pointed at a vertical plane to see what adheres

  9. Just like East Coast and West Coast rappers trying to shoot each other to see who is top dog and get street cred, East Coast and West Coast liberals are trying to out legislate each other so that can get a big pat on the head by the DNC.

Unlike other states, I am not sure there are even enough gun owners in MA to fight any of this including the fact that MA like CA has a super majority of gun grabbers.

What they cannot do at the Fed level, they will do at the State level.

You wait for the fall session, all the legislatures are going to be doing something to honor December 14th anniversary but passing gun bills. You can bet that the Newtown parents will honor their dead by helping wave the bloody shirt and pump for more money since they already believe not enough was collected “for them”

It may be duck season soon, but it all so time for gun grabber festivus

  10. Born and grew up on Bostons’ North Shore. Not my fault. Moved to Texas, will take full credit for that! I shed tears, literally, for those poor noble souls buried in Lexington and Concord, for the lives lost in the Boston Massacre and on Bunker and Breeds Hills. The intent, nay genius, of The Bill of Rights (1st ten amendments) was that the founding fathers wanted all power to remain in the hands of the people, and only they could allow the government to use it. Thus we were protected from tyranny. Now the citizens wish to give away this protection wholesale. In the prescient words of Benjamin Franklin, “those who would surrender freedom for security deserve neither.”

    • +1
Glad you made it to Texas. I moved to Texas in ’89 to evade the new freedom restrictive laws of Oklahoma at the time.
Now the tables have turned and Oklahoma is now a more gun friendly state than Texas and not long after moving to Texas they adopted most of the same freedom restricting laws I left Oklahoma for.
A move back to Oklahoma may soon be an option after the results of the last Texas legislature that let a lot gun friendly laws die in committee thanks to the RINOs in office.
Texas legislature only convenes every two years so it will be two years before any gun friendly laws that were left to die in committee will ever have a chance to be submitted again. By that time I may no longer be a resident of Texas or any other state. Texas had their chance to be a greater state and blew it big time.

    • In my younger years (not that long ago, 29) I would’ve shat all over Texas. I had a totally false image of what the state really was. I thought that Texas was like the headquarters of ignorance and stupidity of the US.

When I got older, I realized that the US pretty much has an equal share of ignorance and stupidity nationwide. Then, I gained a more solid understanding of what sort of things are important in politics. After that, Texas really started to look like a pretty cool place.

Now that I’ve worked there a few times, I appreciate it a lot. I’m lucky to live in a pretty free state at the moment (WA), but it could really go the wrong way if the population keeps shifting.

    • They haven’t been taught true history in public schools for decades. The final generations of this system know not the truth and were lead astray by the lies of the liberals that control the public school systems.
They were taught a lie and live a lie. To live a lie is to live in vain.
Seek the truth as if your life depends on it because it does.

    • +1 True that.
It was sad day in America when the POTUS elect didn’t know how many states comprised the nation which he was elected as it’s leader.

Our founding fathers are spinning in their graves at a rate that contributes to global warming.

  11. After spending most of the last few hours reading through the proposed legislation I didn’t see any proposal to: “Require all criminals, would-be criminals, and those with mental health problems to turn in all of their weapons (guns, knives, baseball bats, swords, bows, arrows, etc.) within 24 hours of the passing of the legislation.”

How many more people have to die before the law makers concentrate on those that commit the crimes instead of passing laws restricting hardware; laws that the criminals will not obey in the first place.

    • Thats because laws don’t apply to criminals. The NFA specifically exempts criminals from registering their weapons due to laws against self incrimination after a supreme court decision. Its only purpose is as a “GOTCHA” for the law abiding, just like all these other gun control laws.

  12. I am not a lawyer, but it seems they are trying to pass a law that makes it illegal to own more than 10 guns.

    See Bill H.3257

    • Yeah, I’m confused too. So if you have one of those big 64 gun Liberty safes, and you put more than 10 guns in it, that’s against the law?

    • If that’s passed into law restricting the number of guns one can own their next step will be a limit of how much ammo can be allowed per gun.
Once that’s achieved the numbers will be reduced by half or more until one is only allowed to own one gun and very few rounds of ammo at a time.
They will push their agenda as far as they can to disarm America until met great resistance be it by ballot or bullets. When the broken ballot system fails Americans will be forced to use the latter by no choice of our own.

  13. Here we go again. The oh so dishonest Public Safety and Homeland Security con.
Anyone who’s not for Public Safety and Homeland Security, must be against them?
This coming from the people who are doing next to nothing on our Southern border.
Our elected representatives are pissing down our back, and telling us it’s raining,
yet they’re curiously perplexed when a poll tells them we don’t trust a one of them.
Obviously, the tainted results from a politically biased, right-wing media.

    • Such a crock, isn’t it? And so many people send RINOs and establishment GOP reps back to DC term after term because the only other choice is an Obamabot. Was literally true for me in 2012, unless we wanted to write someone in. Primary challengers. Term limits. I know, off topic.

  14. They actually use this language in government communications: “Message from His Excellency the Governor “? I refuse to call judges “Your Honor” or cops by anything but their last name, why in the hell would I call a governor “His Excellency”?

  15. H3257 actually does not ban over 10 guns, but requires an alarm system. When they scanned the bill, that part got cut off of the pdf. And they have not fixed it. Since January. The rep who wrote it has had a hard on for alarm systems since this guy in Lowell had 40 guns stolen. The anti bills are a bad as they read. I was at the final hearing friday, man, there was ignorance, but also plenty standing up for their rights.

  16. I’ve re-worked vacations and road trip plans to stay out of NY, NJ, and MA. Don’t see any reason to change that ATM. I’ve read that you can do prison time for having an empty shell casing in your car in MA. Why submit yourself to the control of socialist authoritarians if you don’t have to? Boston is a great city, and the MA country side is beautiful, but there is plenty to see and enjoy in free States as well. I periodically have to go to MA, NY, CA and NJ for business. But it’s (to a lesser degree) like a trip to China: Many interesting things to see and experience, but I never feel quite comfortable until I’m back in the USA again.

I’ll find a way to make a small donation to local MA RTKBA groups, but it’s probably symbolic for now. It’s in the deep blue states that the grabbers show their true colors. What are reasonable restrictions on private citizens’ RTKBA? However strict the laws might be, the answer is always MORE.

  17. Slow day? The list appears to be the firearms related bills currently before the Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security in Mass. Not all are going to be anti-gun. What would be useful would be a story or info on the ones that are the worst so that folks could more easily comment and weigh in while they are still in the Committee stage or identify legislation that has merit. Anything that says “by request” means a constituent asked their Senator or Rep. to file it on the constituent’s behalf. If the legislator actually supported the measure it would be filed as a normal piece of legislation. “By request” bills almost always end up in studies which is usually akin to the circular file.

  18. Well folks, it’s been pointed out previously, not all of the proposed legislation is negative, and there are a few that are being actively supported by RTKBA organizations here in the Commonwealth. I’ve been keeping in touch with my local representatives, and I get a positive feeling overall. My local senator wrote that he hasn’t seen a bill that would actually prevent firearm violence, and that he’s not supportive of more legislation. A few bills have been introduced that would reconcile some of the contradictory wording in our current laws, and others reduce the burden to gun owners as far as licensing renewals.
There have been hearings on these proposed bills across the state over the summer, and the pro-2A turnout has far outweighed the antis. Massachusetts’ Gun Owner’s Action League (GOAL) has taken the lead with meetings and planning sessions to make sure we have a clear message, and I will proudly continue my support as a member.
The problem of course, is that Massachusetts is a small state, and 60% of the population lives in or around Boston. Not all of us are liberal wimps, and we are outnumbered, but we’re being heard. I’ve said it before, I won’t be cutting my losses and running away, I intend to stand my ground here, because someone has to.

  19. Just scary as hell- and to think Boston was the BIRTHPLACE for the fight against the tyranny of the crown!!?? The forefathers are spinning like tops in their graves For shame, for SHAME Massachusetts!

    • “Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. Their children, brought up easy, let it slip away again; poor fools. And their grand-children are once more slaves.”
      – D. H. Lawrence
