In the aftermath of Wednesday’s brutal stabbing attack in Florida, the Second Amendment Foundation today asked whether Congressional Democrats will now start pushing knife control.

“Five people were brutally stabbed,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “The nation deserves to know whether Democrats will hold the suspect responsible, or blame the knife he used.”

Authorities said the five victims were being treated at a nearby hospital.

Gottlieb noted that this is hardly an isolated incident. He pointed to an early-August stabbing rampage in Southern California that left four people dead, and another incident in Massachusetts late last month that left two people dead and a third injured. And in California’s Ventura County, authorities arrested a man for fatally stabbing a woman and her elderly mother two weeks ago.

“Democrats and the gun prohibition lobby have been remarkably silent about these crimes,” Gottlieb observed. “We’re waiting for someone to start complaining about ‘an epidemic of knife violence.’ There are no background checks or waiting periods involved in purchasing knives, and in any given year, according to the annual FBI crime reports, more people die from stabbings than are killed with either rifles or shotguns, so maybe Congressional Democrats will start talking about that.

“The real issue here,” he said, “is that in every brutal slaying, regardless of the weapon used, the perpetrator should be held responsible. But only when firearms are involved do these knee-jerk crusaders demand action, and it is always aimed at guns and the people who own them who had nothing at all to do with the crime.

“We’re calling Democrats and gun control extremists out,” Gottlieb stated. “If they’re satisfied to hold knife-wielding killers individually responsible, the same standard must apply when it comes to crimes committed with firearms. Millions of people who own knives and/or guns have harmed nobody, so Democrats should stop treating them all like criminals.”

The Second Amendment Foundation (www.saf.org) is the nation’s oldest and largest tax-exempt education, research, publishing and legal action group focusing on the Constitutional right and heritage to privately own and possess firearms. Founded in 1974, The Foundation has grown to more than 650,000 members and supporters and conducts many programs designed to better inform the public about the consequences of gun control.

    • “Antwann D. Brown, 41, is accused of stabbing five co-workers with a folding knife at Dyke Industries, Tallahassee police said. Brown sought out his victims, police said.”

I think you have it backwards. If it IS black and bangs, the MSM doesn’t care. If it is white and doesn’t bang, the MSM goes crazy.

This will disappear, quite quickly no doubt.

      • With that name and my presumption of his race, he will get little to no airplay nor much in print… gotta be a crazed whitey to make news.. He will get all the hugs and treatment he needs for what “We” did to him and his sense of cultural identity…

        • If the victims were children, then the Dems/Media would have sensationalized this incident to push for banning knives at some new level.

    • Rest assured the Democrats will come for knives after they’ve got our guns. It’ll be just like formerly Great Britain.

    • Just like other countries, as soon as they think they have banned or restricted gun sufficiently, they will go after knives as well. The public must be defenseless.

    • The England plan, once they have crippled legal gun ownership, they will come for the knives. Remember, all the UBC, AWB, red flag laws, mag limits, those are just called “common sense first steps.” Just need to make some progress, DO SOMETHING, but there is no end.

    • Jay, you must live in a vacuum. It’s been on WCTV every broadcast since noon yesterday and on the front page of the paper this morning.

  1. “…Alan M. Gottlieb. “The nation deserves to know whether Democrats will hold the suspect responsible, or blame the knife he used.” ”

Should have added “…and sue the knife manufacturer.”

      • “Yeah, and none of this ” open carry of knives ” bullshit.”

We have a little problem with that in my little piece of heaven. Sheathed knives are “concealed”, even if worn completely uncovered. Concealed carry of knives (anything with a blade longer than 2.5in) is illegal. Somehow, though, a knife in a box, or any closed container (including the glove box) is not “concealed”. Of course, the local smokeys don’t bother anyone with a knife on the belt, and do not inspect tool boxes in the back of pickups. Nor do they bother with people who exceed the legal speed limit of 12mph when crossing an intersection in an automobile.

        • Sorry, Sam; shoulda added the sarc/ notation. Yeah, I know that some guys carry a knife in a sheath on their belt, just as some people carry a pair of pliers in the same manner.

We will hafta wait and see what the TTAG resident expert. ” VLAD “, has to say on the subject.

        • “Sorry, Sam; shoulda added the sarc/ notation.”

Wasn’t necessary. Just needed a springboard for my little anecdote on the craziness of local laws regarding concealed knife carry.

        • Will that include multi-tools? I mean, there’s a knife on my multi-tool, should I wear a cover garment with it? Maybe we could enact some safe storage law for multi-tools as well. But the should be locked up separate from the hammers. At least the Bill of Rights doesn’t have anything about the right to own Hammers, golf clubs or multi-tools. The could just ban them. Multi-tools did derive from the Swiss Army Knife, could they be considered ‘assault weapons’?

If anybody takes any of that blatherskite serious you name must be Bigtoe O’Rourke.

        • “Will that include multi-tools? I mean, there’s a knife on my multi-tool, should I wear a cover garment with it?”

As I understand it, you can carry, open, a knife hanging from your belt, without sheath. I imagine the knife in question would be a folder, so as to not stick yourself.

    • Klamath Falls Herald and News: Thursday, September 12th, 2019/Letters To The Editor

NRA label nothing but a lie

The news media reports that a San Francisco city councilwoman has declared the NRA to be a “terrorist organization.” (Ironically, San Francisco is home turf of a real terrorist organization, the cowardly but vicious thugs of ANTIFA). The NRA (National Rifle Association) is a civil rights organization formed in 1871 by union civil war veterans to defend the constitutional rights of all Americans. including the recently freed slaves who were now citizens. The NRA is composed of more than 5 million dues-paying gun owners.

Like the other 85 or 90 million American gun owners, NRA members are productive, involved, independent citizens. Like our fellow gun owners, we don’t use our guns for illegal purposes. Statistically, 99.98 percent of civilian owned guns are never used unlawfully.

The San Francisco councilwoman is typical of the liberal/socialist politicians who rule the major cities. Their policies have turned great cities into sinkholes of crime, drug abuse, disease and violence. They create sanctuaries for criminals while they obstruct law enforcement efforts.

Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit, Los Angels, San Francisco and other cities suffer 10 or 15 (or more) shootings by criminals every week in every city. The liberals who live in those cities could sweep the gun-toting criminals off their streets in a week by enforcing existing laws, but they don’t.

Instead, those politicians blow hot air about the mythical horrors of legal civilian gun ownership.

Politicians like the San Francisco councilwoman — and this includes the crowd of charlatans and crackpots currently competing to become the Democrat Party’s presidential nominee — can falsely claim that we NRA members are terrorists. We, in turn, can correctly characterize them as the lying bags of manure that they are.

      Bill Speers, Klamath Falls

Above letter submitted courtesy of James A. “Jim” Farmer of Merrill, Oregon (Klamath County). Long live the State of Jefferson! And yes….I have my own letter supporting Bill Speer’s above letter in solidarity pending for the Klamath Falls, Oregon Herald and News. I wish many more gun owners would do the same.

  2. Lets all follow the Brits some more. Ban all knives but dull butter knives. Not even a spatula should be used by private hands.

    • I have a large, heavy, stainless steel spatula for my grill that is sharpened on one side to double as a cleaver, could potentially be.. no, actually it IS a dangerous weapon…

  3. Kiss that folding lock blade goodbye, I can see whatever shit soup constitutes NoNadslers brain swirling around at the thought of a London style knike ban.. Good thing no one was killed or even butter knives would be black listed… Can’t wait till someone is stabbed to death with a salad fork….

  4. Dems will recognize it as far as it suits them. they’ll just say “thank God he didn’t use a gun, could you imagine how much deadlier it would be!?”

  5. Quote: “The San Francisco councilwoman is typical of the liberal/socialist politicians who rule the major cities. Their policies have turned great cities into sinkholes of crime, drug abuse, disease and violence. They create sanctuaries for criminals while they obstruct law enforcement efforts.”

I think you fat fingered “S**tholes…..

    • The 2A merely recognizes a preexisting right. They cannot take away the right, not the duty. They can only infringe upon it. Repealing the 2A is merely the “go” signal.

      • Repealing 2A would be a good exercise in constitutional theory. The Federalists believed that granting no power to the central government to take arms from the citizens was sufficient (the constitution was designed to inform government of the power it had, ergo, if a power was not specifically delegated, such power did not exist (retained by “the people”/the States). The Anti-Federalists were convinced that if certain powers were not specifically prohibited to the central government, tyrants would try to claim that government held powers not specifically prohibited. Thus, the BOR.

Without 2A, the situation is effectively unchanged because the government (all three branches) is not specifically delegated power to disarm the public. Under such circumstance, we would learn whether Federalists, or Ant-Federalists were correct in their assumptions.

  6. I think it was last year, on a west coast commuter train, a guy was verbally harassing two young Muslim women. Three other men told him to stop. He stabbed two of them to death and badly wounded the third.

    • “The only thing that stops a bad guy with a knife is a good guy with an AR-15 with a 30 round magazine.”

Happiness is a belt fed weapon.

  7. OMG…and you can order knives and have them shipped right to your door?
    No background checks?
    No waiting periods?
    LMAO

  8. So after knives will it be pointy sticks that are too dangerous for untrained civilians to wield? Then will lumber sales be restricted to trained professionals so we can’t make clubs? Maybe after that we’ll need laws keeping bricks and loose rocks out of the hands of the public? The foolishness of all this would be laughable if the dimwits proposing it all weren’t in positions of power – both political and economic.

  9. I personally don’t find focusing on these stories productive for the 2A cause. It comes off as our version of waving the bloody shirts. Plus there is an obvious counter argument that the antis can use. “Yea but did 22 people die?” or “Yea but did 9 people die in less than 30 seconds?

  10. We could always make our black rifles white , maybe they wouldn’t be perceived as so scary. I saw a nice Glock 19 build a few days ago , it looked sweet.

  11. The latest news report were that all survived and only one was in serious condition. If the nut case had had an assault rifle all would be dead.

In the British bridge and bar attack the patrons beat the shit out of the knife attackers with chairs and broken beer bottles. Proving the British gun laws worked and worked well that day. If it had been in the U.S. an assault rifle would have wiped out everyone on the bridge and in the bar.

Mass murder is far easier with firearms than with knives.

    • Yeah I guess the eight people that actually FUCKING DIED in that attack are just an irrelevant non factor in your little fantasy land tale.

    • Fact The three goat lovers with pink knives ran over some people with their van and than stabbed some people who did not have knives and than the police came and shot them to death and that proves gun control works. How is that for blood dancing? I always did want to be a ballerina.

      – The Original Vlad Tepes

      • vdalad, where I live, the three “goat-lovers” would’ve been shot dead by those they were trying to run over way before anyone was injured or killed.

      • Nice try.

        Fixed it for you.
