You may remember Mark Robinson from his impassioned defense of gun rights and the average citizen back in 2018. The Greensboro, North Carolina city council was considering canceling a gun show in a city facility in the aftermath of the Parkland shooting at the time and Mr. Robinson was having none of it and a video of his plea went viral.

Here is that testimony . . .

That eloquence and resolve has been something of a springboard for Robinson making him a popular public speaker. He also decided to run in the North Carolina GOP primary on Tuesday for the party’s nomination in the Lieutenant Governor race.

As greensboro.com reports . . .

A former factory worker and day care operator whose gun rights speech before the Greensboro City Council in 2018 vaulted him to prominence among conservatives won the Republican nomination for North Carolina’s lieutenant governor on Tuesday in a crowded field.

First-time candidate Mark Robinson also exceeded the 30% threshold needed to win outright and avoid a runoff.

He defeated a sitting state Senator among others.

Robinson’s 2018 recorded speech before the Greensboro council went viral, making him a nationwide speaker.

“The majority of people in this city are law abiding,” Robinson told council members, “and they follow the law and they want their constitutional right to bear arms.

“I am the majority! A law-abiding citizen who’s never shot anybody, never committed a serious crime, never committed a felony!

“I’ve never done anything like that, but it seems like every time we have one of these shootings, nobody wants to put the blame where it goes, which is at the shooter’s feet. You want to put it at my feet!”

Good luck, Mr. Robinson.

  1. A majority of North Carolinians believe Bruce Jenner is a woman and AR-15s are “weapons of war”. Culture war has been lost. Only honest to goodness firefights with Daddy Government will protect the 2A now.

    • Except that’s demonstrably untrue and you damn well know it is. Unlike you, I actually live here, and I can tell you that you are in fact categorically wrong, period. The culture war is not lost here, and we’ve easily been able to stop gun control here, too. You don’t know what you’re talking about. Shut the fuck up.

    • We’re actually winning the culture war in most of America. Just because you live in the infected mass of China doesn’t mean you know everything.

Oh, and you’re a shill by the way. It’s plain as day.

  2. Go Mr. Mark Robinson! Here’s to hoping this is just your first step up the political ladder – nothing we’d all like to see more than a POTG candidate for even higher office than lieutenant governor !

  3. It’s not just what he said in that speech, but the way he delivered it. Just the right amount of passion and righteous indignation to where it didn’t sound like a rant. And, as much as I hate to bring race in to this, being black made his speech just that much more credible. After all, with crime statistics being what they are, minorities stand to benefit the most from armed self-defense.

      • Because, unfortunately, a sizable percentage of the population does. And to get people on-board with our message, we’re going to have to think in their terms some of the time. Most of the anti-gunners think that the 2A is just for old, fat white guys. People like Mark Robinson can prove them wrong.

        • It’s a different look for us…but a welcome one…nothing upsets the left more than a black person that doesn’t toe the line……

  4. A former factory worker and day care operator …

Sounds like the perfect background for political office.

I am absolutely serious, no snark or sarcasm. We need more real people — like this man — in public office.

      • The Framers wanted white, male landowners to run the political system and occupy offices. I’m not sure how a black former factory worker and daycare operator meets their eligibility requirements.

Even North Carolina’s own first constitution, adopted in 1776, required voters to be “freemen” possessed of a “freehold”, in this case meaning ownership of at least fifty acres of land.

I do get your general point in that the Framers did view the People as citizens, not subjects, and as being endowed with certain rights. It’s just that not all people qualified as “the People” and even those who did were held at arm’s length from the political process.

    • Which is why the Congress, state and federal levels, should be selected via jury duty. The people from the same places need to represent those places. It’s fair, no money involved, you’re a tax paying citizen, you do your service. No racial biases, no sexual orientation bias, no gender/sex bias, just a name on a paper, and they’re they next in line to do their part. No more political hacks blowing corporations or lobby’s to get elected and then screwing the American people.

Any ideas to promote or fix this suggestion, I’m all ears.

        • Hannibal,

I have been summoned twice, but never had to go. I’m aware there’s plenty of stupid people with crazy, ridiculous ideologies, however, these people are still making their way to Congress, except getting rich in the process, and even more so by selling out the American tax payer and their civil rights afterwards. Tax cuts for them, taxes implemented for us. More regulations and restrictions for us, none for them or the people that paid for them to get in.

Perhaps if there wasn’t any financial gain to sitting in that position, we could potentially reverse course and have people use their morality, or maybe even their brains, to implement the future legislation, or just prevent it altogether.

  5. Mark Robinson is the real deal and winning on Tuesday his voters agreed. Mark is often described as authentic. As poll greeters we witnessed voters all day long mention they were voting for Mark Robinson for Lt Governor. He lost in only 4 counties out of 100. Mr Robinson will campaign across NC leading up to the General Election victory in November.

  6. I wanted to see the reaction on the video of the city council. I bet a cricket could be heard chirping for several minutes. Thank you brother for standing up and telling the truth.

  7. I don’t donate to politicians often, but this man got some of my hard earned cash. Looking forward to casting my vote for him in November, and again for President in 2024.
