Our man Ralph called the Magnum Research IWI Desert Eagle Mark XIX .50AE “the most useless gun ever made.” Psych! He loved it! “If I was rating the Desert Eagle’s fun factor using TTAG’s star system, the gun would get more stars than Hollywood.” So how do you make a fun gun funerer? You make it look as tacky the Christmas Story leg lamp. Previously, on who wants to put a glitch in the Matrix, Magnum Research introduced the Limited Edition Desert Eagle Cheetah. Which sold out. No really. So it only makes sense that they’re introducing two more animal print D’Eagles: Kryptek Highlander [above] and the Snakeskin [below], available in either .50 AE or .44 Mag. To which we can only add: ‘Merica! via Israel! Press release after the jump . . .

Pomona, NY -(Ammoland.com)- In February of this year, Magnum Research introduced the first in a series of animal print Desert Eagles.

Following in the success of the Cheetah print, which is now sold out, MRI is now introducing their latest two animal prints, the Kryptek Highlander and the Snakeskin, available in either .50 AE or .44 Mag.

“Our Desert Eagle in the Cheetah print was a huge success,” stated Frank Harris, VP of Sales of Marketing. “We introduced it to our dealers early in the year, and it sold out very quickly shortly thereafter. It just proves that gun enthusiasts have a growing interest in something a little different from the norm to show off at the gun range.”

The two new designs, the Kryptek Highlander and the Snakeskin patterns utilize a water transfer method. It has been extensively tested for durability and has proven to be very tough; even cleaning solvents and acetone will not soften or damage the finish.

The Desert Eagle .50 AE is a gas-operated, semi-automatic pistol with a 7-round capacity in .50 AE and 8-round capacity in .44 Magnum. Both guns measure 10.75” in length with a 6” barrel. Slide width is 1.25”, height 6.25” and the weight with an empty magazine is approximately 4 lbs. 5.8 oz. in .50 AE, and 4 lbs. 6.6 oz. in the .44 Mag. It has a trigger reach of 2.75” and a sight radius of 8.5” with the 6” barrel. The construction of the Desert Eagle utilizes the latest CNC machine technology providing exacting specifications with tight tolerances creating a work of art in a precision firearm.

The grip is anatomically formed and provides an ideal hand seating angle for two-handed shooting allowing for comfortable, rapid and accurate firing. The Weaver style accessory rail easily allows for aftermarket optics and scope rings. The limited edition Kryptek Highlander and Snakeskin print Desert Eagles are only available while supplies last.

Please visit your favorite dealer today to purchase it in either .50 AE or .44 Magnum. Please watch for additional animal patterns which will be introduced later in the year. The MSRP on either of the new patterns for the Desert Eagle is $1793 for the .50 AE or the .44 Magnum.

  1. You know something? If you showed this to me a few years ago I would’ve laughed at someone who bought this. BUT… I’ve ceased to give a crap what’s “tactical” “practical” and “necessary”.

If you want to buy this gun, more power to you. Hell, I’ll probably get a gold plated tiger stripe Desert Eagle sometime in the future.

Whatever makes you happy. That’s my motto.

    Props to Magnum Research.

    *beaces for the hate*

    • There is *nothing* tackier than the “A Christmas Story” leg lamp.

And oh, yeah, I want one…

      *Boing!*

      • Guilty pleasure. I have one. It was given to me by my wife for xmas one year. When the Deagle is produced in hooker mesh hose design I’ll buy it just to match the lamp. And I’m a cheap bastidge. But it would be so worth it.

And I always thought the deagle was useless. Til the guy in the stall next to mine at an indoor range started raining brass over the divider onto me. Smoking, hot trash cans pattering around you is distracting.

As an apology he let me run a few thru it. .50 cal pistol that handles like a Brinks truck. What’s not to love.

  2. I slid past the point of needing anything practical years ago. All of my firearm purchases in recent years have been purely for the fun factor, because frankly I have everything useful I’m ever going to need until someone comes out with something radically new. It’s changed my whole way of thinking. This gun is totally not my gun, my thing, my style, my anything, really. But I’m sure it appeals to somebody, and more power to them for buying just want the want just because they can. If it puts a smile on their face every time they pull the trigger than who cares if someone else doesn’t like it? Buy away and have your jollies.

    • I picked up a .44 model once just to hold it, a long time ago when I worked at the gun counter at Sports Authority. Back when they sold handguns. The weight was ridiculous. And the grip size. I could not imagine why anyone would want one.

    • Ralph-

      About Miley Cyrus.

I wouldn’t with *yours*. The skank just *drips* off that girl…

Her daddy must be *so* proud of his ‘Princess’…

  3. Sometimes we just want a certain gun because it’s in our favorite movies or just looks cool. I own a Beretta 92 thanks to John McClane and Martin Riggs, not because I think it’s the best 9mm service pistol. I don’t really want a Deagle, but I get its appeal.

  4. It is scary how much I like that top one. I may have to rent a storage shed for my guns and ammo. Close to a range.

  5. What if they did one in faux fur (call it “fauz” if that’s not too close to ‘Faust’) that way the hairy chested could get a Tanker’s shoulder-holster and it would not imprint on their natural fur cover (call it “Yeti-chic”). It could be ‘topless’ cc for the hay-ree. ; P

  6. Many states limit cc caliber to .45 so you’d have to scale it down.

It is ‘scary’ enough without the coatings, is MR trying to get banned?

Does PETA do marches for the humane treatment of weapons coatings patterns?

    • It’s available in .44mag. So if you want to cc, feel free. Just buy an overcoat custom made at a tent and awning shop.

      • I actually have a shoulder rig for my DE, and have carried the .357 under some circumstances. Yeah, go ahead a laugh if you want, but I liked the solid feel of it. 😉

        • Thank you. I did laugh. Is it true that deagles come with a pair of radios, a wheeled carriage and a forward observer?

        • Having only been on TTAG for a couple of weeks, I have to admit I’m surprised at how many of the people posting comments are actually little more than semi-literate trolls who have nothing better to do all day then post smart ass comments that really add nothing to the conversations.

Were I to meet them in real life, I would cross the street to avoid talking to them, so I see no reason to waste any more time talking to them on-line.

  7. Each to his(or her) own. I think pink/purple/yellow/sparkly guns look worse. And I wish I could afford THIS pimp pistol…

  8. When I look at the women men choose, it’s not hard to understand why they would also choose a gun that most folks would laugh at.
    Not you of course!

  9. So what’s the big deal? It’s a great gun and people like options. DE’s are amazing pieces of engineering. We have two and would love a third someday soon.
