We present this product announcement without comment. Wait…no we don’t. We talked to MagneCarry about their new product and you should know that they intend their canvas-covered magnetic holster to be used inside the waistband. Note that it doesn’t cover your handgun’s trigger at all.

They tell us they’ve tested it with Ruger and GLOCK duty-size guns as well as a G43 “with no problems.” It’s eight inches long, so if you use it with a smaller gun, the magnet will extend past the gun’s muzzle while you carry it. They tell us they’ll offer a shorter version down the road if there’s enough demand.

Their press release follows. Let us know your thoughts in the comments (as if anyone around here has ever been reluctant to do that).

MagneCarry Official Product Launch

Now available for sale, MagneCarry has changed the way firearms are carried concealed. Unlike traditional gun holsters that can be bulky and easy to spot, MagneCarry is lightweight and unobtrusive.

A less expensive replacement for standard holsters, MagneCarry’s canvas-covered magnet clips onto a belt, waistband or pocket. The user simply places their firearm flush against MagneCarry and magnetic force creates fixed placement. The product’s slim profile allows for more secure and less noticeable firearm carrying.

At less than 8 inches (19 cm) long it adds minimal weight to the users frame and allows for quicker, more agile movement. MagneCarry is the perfect firearms accessory for law enforcement officers as well as military and government personnel. Remember the FBI agent that did a backflip? If only he had been using MagneCarry!

For unobtrusive firearm concealment, MagneCarry is the solution; a lightweight magnetic gun attachment meant to replace traditional gun holsters.

  • Easy to use
  • Discrete concealment
  • Slim profile
  • Lightweight and comfortable Multi-use

In partnership with Idea Buyer LLC., MagneCarry will be available for purchase on Friday, December 7th on Amazon for $21.99. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KPPP2DP)

      • It’s worse now that it had time to simmer on low. However, as in the past, I’m self-restrained from being too opinionated, animated and blunt while attempting to maintain TTAG in a semi-family oriented fair-minded social media platform.

    • You know, I wonder how that would look, torching a round off with the gun magneted to that thing. Not the wound of course. We know what that would look like. I mean the gun. Would the slide be able to recoil to chamber another round? Would the magnet stick with it while it does so? Would it properly chamber so you could negligently shoot your self again?

      • I think it’s too short. Should extend down to the ankle and tuck into the shoe, so as to deflect the inevitable bullets harmlessly into the ground, or the gas pedal if you’re driving. Marvelous idea, why didn’t I think of it?

      • I think the risk of magnets damaging most electronics is greatly overstated. Years ago when I worked at ORNL, we had a FT-MS using a LHe cooled 6T magnet. I left my phone and memory card in the bore of the magnet for hours to see if it would scramble the memory but it had absolutely no effect. I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes. Same result with a credit card.

        • I didn’t say that. I’m telling you what my direct, hands on experience with my credit card and my memory card in the presence of a very high power magnet was. I think the risk is greatly overstated. Believe me or not, makes no difference to me.

    • Unless your phone has a floppy disk drive from the ’80s attached, it would be fine. Modern flash memory is, for all practical purposes, immune to magnetic fields. It’s all transistors in there, no magnetic storage. A magnet powerful enough to damage your phone’s memory would be strong enough to pull the iron out of your blood cells.

In any case, with the gaping wound in your leg that using this “holster” would give you, your phone would probably be the least of your worries.

  1. There are some super strong and fun magnets being sold, now, some of them quite powerful enough for static gun placement under desks or dashboards. My faith in the strength of this holster’s magnet is fair, but its lack of trigger protection is disturbing, the uncovered muzzle sucks, and the apparently short belt hook looks problematic, too.

Interesting idea, just needs more thought.

    • Think it out? Yeah right. Their attitude is call or click today, buy now, but wait, there’s more!!
Buy our sh– Never mind that’s it’s probably a stupid idea, we just want our slice of the American Dream Pie.

    • Hardly the first one to come up with this “invention”.

20 years ago when neodymiums became common-ish and cheap-ish, more than one person attempted this solution, and found all the problems the beta testers purchasers of this new bit of marketing whiz-bangery will encounter.

A guy from a manufacturer I can’t name (because I can’t remember) was also down this rabbit-hole before there became too many issues.

Perhaps they found some magical solution, but I’ll wager the marketing wanks convinced them it would sell regardless. Best of luck to them.

      • An ultra-high Gauss magnetic field being so close to tiny metal parts in the slide, I wonder if there is a possibility of magnetism ‘hanging up’ a small part in that slide, disabling it…

    • How about the concept that what would be pressed against your body would be pure, naked gun, complete with hard, sharp edges and capable of corroding, since the magnet would be on the other side?

      • Pure, naked gun… I like the sound of that. 🙂

I’m not so sure there’s any worry about gun corrosion if you have one with a modern metal treatment.

I’ve been using one of those little slide-mounted clip dinguses (can’t remember the company that makes them) for a year and a half now with my Springfield XDm, and my gun shows neither corrosion nor wear of any kind from sitting between my pants and my underwear for several hours a day (all day on weekends).

But if it ever does, I’ll let you all know and caution you to avoid my fate.

  2. I can just see myself stuck to the door of my truck, on the day I decide not to carry, but leave the magnet on my belt.

    • Or you pull your weapon and the holster draws with it then flies out of your hand and sticks to your car and you are standing there trying to pry it off while the thug with a crowbar trying rob you rolls on the ground laughing at your retarded ass.

  3. You will need to learn an entirely new draw technique. Don’t see how it could ever be smooth, yanking something loose from a magnet.

    • I found a twisting motion will make the break cleaner, but attempting to incorporate that was one of the (many) bigger issues.

      YMMV

  4. “Initial inventory is expected to sell out quickly”

So…either they have, maybe 3 for sale or their expectations are a _bit_ out of touch with reality.

    No. Just no.

  5. Great, now i can blow my balls off AND wipe/erase my credit cards and phone OS at the same time…..not to mention my keys always seeming to stick to my crotch now…

  6. This could be a late night infomercial. Seriously, it’s that bad.

“My handgun conceals just fine, but the holster sticks out like crazy! It’s also heavy and awkward and I can never draw effectively! It even gives me the option to carry a round in the chamber without inadvertently shooting myself! If only there was another way…”

  7. Looks like another excellent solution in search of a non-existent problem. The good news is that in America you can put anything you want up for sale. The bad news is that in America you can put anything you want up for sale. (Except for lawn darts, dang it!). -30-

  8. Do you know where a good place for long term magnetic radiation is? “Next to your genitals” probably isn’t it.

    • OOoo. That reminds me, my right hip is steel. I may need one of these, seems like it would be the only thing to use if I’m naked!

  9. I do like magnets. I go to ACE and get the 65# ones. I have several stashed around the house w/ a gun. My 226 is under the drawer in my nitestand. A .22lr under the kitchen island lip. This thing is not a good idea. If you must go this route get the clip that uses 3m 2 sided tape. Still not good but maybe better. I tried this with my LCP. The clip held just fine. Problem was it would catch on my shirt and work its way out to hit the floor. 2nd time was the end of that idea.

  10. I would not ever carry IWB without a holster. That includes a holster that covers the trigger.

This horrible design is an NG waiting to happen in my opinion.

  11. I would like to meet the person who thought this was a good idea, they must lead an interesting life and have entertaining opinions.
