I live by Oscar Wilde’s maxim “If you haven’t got anything nice to say about anyone, come sit next to me.” The man behind thefirearmblog.com is slightly more diplomatic. After describing Springfield’s new $1000 Limited Edition Range Officer 1911, the semi-anonymous gun blogger announces “Here is where things get interesting.” Interesting as in reprehensible? We report, you deride. “There is no difference between the limited edition and the regular pistol, other than the “X of 500″ engraving. The limited edition even shares the same SKU as the normal pistol. This means it is not a limited edition at all. These guns are simply the first 500 made.” Busted!

shot my recently purchased range officer today, shoots great with no problems except first hits were about 4 inches off target center, at 7 o'clock. adjusted rear sight bith bore sighter, right on. can't wait to shoot it again
Shot another 100 rounds in the R.O., Shoots great but I am thinking about upgrading to a low profile rear sights, Novaks, and Wilson magazines. No misfires or hangups.
I use the Wilson mags in my RO. Works very well.
This is not the same as the regular pistol. It has many of the same features of the Loaded model, except it adds the target sights, match-grade barrel and match-grade bushing.
You could take a Loaded model, add the adjustable sights, and get the barrel and bushing fitted by some place like Bar-Sto for less money than this gun costs, with a much higher guarantee of quality.
