“This life’s hard, but it’s harder if you’re stupid.”  So said John Wayne once in a movie. Truer words have never been spoken. Meanwhile, residents of an ultra-liberal, gun-eschewing enclave of Minneapolis known as Powderhorn Park have treated themselves to living that quote first-hand after a horde of homeless people displaced by the rioting set up a tent camp in the neighborhood.

Despite drug dealing, armed robbery, overdoses and all manner of other criminal behavior at all hours among their new “neighbors,” the residents have pledged not to dial 911. Instead of calling the cops, Powderhorn Park homeowners have instead delivered meals to the squatters. The residents have also kept their white privilege in check by encouraging the city to back off evicting the vagrants.

The uber-liberal residents of the area — where the biggest day of the year has been May Day — don’t want to exert their white privilege to restore peace, tranquility and safety (not to mention sanitation) to the area. After all, someone’s feelings might be hurt in the process.

It gets better. Shari Albers, one of the residents profiled in the New York Times piece, now admits the unruly mob right outside her home keeps her up at night. Does she have a gun for home defense? Of course not! That would make her one of those redneck gun nuts.

From the Grey Lady’s description of the situation:

When Shari Albers moved three decades ago into Powderhorn Park, a tree-lined Minneapolis neighborhood known as a haven to leftist activists and bohemian artists like herself, she went to work sprucing it up.

She became a block club leader, organizing her mostly white neighbors to bring in playgrounds and help tackle longstanding issues with crime.

On many nights, she banged on the car windows of men who had come to solicit prostitutes outside her door, she said. She kept meticulous notes when dozens of men would gather in a circle for gang meetings in the park across from her house. After each episode, she called the police.

But times have changed. After the death of George Floyd at the hands of the police, Ms. Albers, who is white, and many of her progressive neighbors have vowed to avoid calling law enforcement into their community. Doing so, they believed, would add to the pain that black residents of Minneapolis were feeling and could put them in danger.

Already, that commitment is being challenged. Two weeks ago, dozens of multicolored tents appeared in the neighborhood park. They were brought by homeless people who were displaced during the unrest that gripped the city. The multiracial group of roughly 300 new residents seems to grow larger and more entrenched every day. They do laundry, listen to music and strategize about how to find permanent housing. Some are hampered by mental illness, addiction or both.

Their presence has drawn heavy car traffic into the neighborhood, some from drug dealers. At least two residents have overdosed in the encampment and had to be taken away in ambulances.

The influx of outsiders has kept Ms. Albers awake at night. Though it is unlikely to happen, she has had visions of people from the tent camp forcing their way into her home. She imagines using a baseball bat to defend herself.

Not being able to call the police, as she has done for decades, has shaken her.

You don’t say. Another woman no longer walks her dog in her own neighborhood because of the catcalls and other harassment. Yet another refuses to let her kids play near the park where the homeless have set up camp.

“I’m not being judgmental,” said Carrie Nightshade, 44, who explained that she no longer felt comfortable letting her children, 12 and 9, play in the park by themselves. “It’s not personal. It’s just not safe.”

What happens if a resident is actually threatened?

Rather than turn to law enforcement if they saw anyone in physical danger, [a group of female residents] resolved to call the American Indian Movement — a national organization created in 1968 to address Native American grievances such as police brutality — which had been policing its own community locally for years.

As Glenn Reynolds wrote, “it would take a heart of stone not to laugh” at these leftists who welcomed their new squatter neighbors.

Ms. Albers may sleep better knowing that once the city council completes the defunding of the police department, she’ll be able to call in community social services workers to deal with the drugs and crime that have moved into her neighborhood.

“I am afraid,” [Albers] said. “I know my neighbors are around, but I’m not feeling grounded in my city at all. Anything could happen.”

Or maybe Ms. Albers should consult her daughter who attributes all the criminal activity by the squatters to “symptoms of systemic oppression” and thus doesn’t blame the individuals who commit it.

Indeed. This life’s hard. But it’s harder if you’re stupid.

  1. jeebus, marty and jobus. You cannot make shit like this up. Wonder how many women will have to be raped there and children molested before they ditch pc and take up the torches and pitchforks?

    • Remember, in Seattle those within the CHAZ/CHOP perimeter who had their stuff stolen were told by the effort’s leaders that theft should actually be viewed as (and I quote) “unexpected donations to those who need your items more than you do”.

      • Meh…. it’s not like any of these people are ever gonna stop voting (D)emocrat.

        Eric Swalwell 2020

        • Well have those Ni663rs voting for us for 200 years, Eric.

Now did you say something about swallowing? My good friend Bill knows this guy who can get us………………….oh, never mind, looks like that guy killed himself.

      • They’re stupid enought to say “unexpected donations….need them more than you do…” They steal your stuff and SELL it for drugs. “Stupid is as Stupid does.” Forest Gump quote?

      • As Marx said, each to their ability and each to their need.

Reality is going to bite hard.

Pass the popcorn or is it time for pizza and beer?

        • Yeah, this is going to be VERY interesting to watch.

A neighborhood populated by leftists whose worldview values virtue signaling uber alies.

They don’t want or have guns, and probably wouldn’t use them to defend themselves even if they did.

They proudly proclaim they won’t call or cooperate with the police.

When you rob them, their need to virtue signal kicks in and so they blame themselves rather than the perp and rationalize away criminality.

This NYT article (which has gone viral) is putting out the huge “Welcome” mat for every meth head and crook in the area — “come take what you like, it’s probably our fault we have it in the first place, and we won’t do anything against you.”

What will they do when winter comes and the “campers” who will have learned that the residents can be robbed, assaulted, etc. with complete impunity decide *they* deserve to sleep in that nice warm house of yours (and/or that *you* need to leave so they and their friends can stay there for free). “Oh, it was probably somehow my fault that I had this nice house in the first place.”

We’ll see how long this inane philosophy of PC virtue signaling lasts against reality. Pass the popcorn.

    • Maybe this makes me a bad person, but I won’t feel sorry for them. I won’t wish for it to happen, but ultimately you just can’t protect people from their own window-licking stupidity. All you can do is try to keep them from dragging you down with them.

      • Completely agree. Truer words cannot be written about such Wokeness…😅🤣🤣😅😅🤣😅🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

      • I too cannot feel sorry for those suffering due to their own wokeness and fear.

When I feel concerned, I would call the police. If something really concerns, I open the footlocker that keeps my curious children away from the ammo I bought when it was on sale and plentiful.

Is it a bad thing when that just reminds me I should buy another 45 pistol to speed the consumption of that ammo?

        • I’m thinking that’s a little understated. Starting to believe they’ve graduated to sucking on PCB filled capacitors, the new Tide Pod Challenge successor…

    • There’s a story out of this situation where a man finds another man unconscious in an elevator and wearing a medical bracelet.

Does the first guy call 911? No, he calls a “community activist” who doesn’t pick up the phone. Then the guy dials 911 and fucking feels bad for doing it.

This is stupid on an almost incomprehensible level. The kind of idiocy you only get from groups because you almost have to form a committee (or agency) of fully vetted retards to reach this level.

If I had a medical emergency like that you better hope I die or end up permanently disabled because if I find out your first call was to a “community activist” I’m probably going to come back and beat your ass on general principle.

And, going back to yesterday, this is why I can’t really support unions. If you’re this level of idiot you should be homeless because no one should pay you to do anything. You’re literally useless.

      • The fresh college grads that my company hires by the thousands every year would argue with you, but to be fair it would be a weak argument given that following social media trends is the only social skill they possess. There are cohorts that are literally unable to arrange separate lunches – Any food they want can be delivered, at any time, but any one of them would pay money to eat food they don’t want just to not be left out of the group order.

      • I would of just left you. It’s not my problem and I am not getting involved. Morons like you threatening people who try to help them with a “beat down” are why people like me don’t care and would not do a single thing to help you.

        • @thebitchsonttag you have about as much intelligence as a steaming pile of shit. You won’t be going very far in life.

      • These people are worse than useless.

Here in Seattle, when there was a shooting in the “Organized Protest”, people demonstrated against police who responded. This while there were victims bleeding on the ground. EMTs couldn’t get in to treat because the scene couldn’t be secured. It’s altogether possible that one of victims died because of the delay.

So there’s being unhelpful, then there’s being actively obstructive, maybe lethally so.

        • If that were my neighborhood, I’d saturate all their tents with gasoline at night. Then have a campfire…

      • The word “feminist” has been hijacked, also. Now it just means a perpetual victim who happens to be a snowflake woman carrying a protest sign and yelling obscenities. Something we never did in the 70″s.

      • Yet, real feminists are pushing for gun control, because.. something something patriarchy something something oppression.. I dunno. They’re fucking stupid, regardless.

    • They’ve probably evolved to the point where they don’t know how to make a torch or pick up or even identify a pitchfork. And if they did either, they’d have to write a 3,000 word editorial on how it made them feel.

    • Progtards are real, and they WILL drag society down to their level. There’s a critical mass of the cretins in the Seattle area, and the whole state of Washington is worse off as a result — the recent anti-gun laws being a case in point.

  2. It’s going to be a hoot when the new homeless residents of the park discover that they can rape and loot to their hearts content without interference from the police. I hope they [confine] their raping to the Karen’s mentioned in the article.

  3. “I’m not being judgmental,” said Carrie Nightshade…It’s just not safe.”

Um, that sounds like a judgement. Hey, what do I know?

    • She seems to understand now that looking out for the safety of your family, and understanding that some people will prey on you if they can, doesn’t mean you are full of hate. Or maybe she thinks that just applies to her.

      • No, she still does not understand. People like her just think they can take another route to avoid violence.

  4. You voted for this BS. You let the scum run rabid. Minnesota is a good sized state. Mebbe you could find a cabin in International Falls to hang out at…😃😎😏

    • You mean the place that sets record lows during the winter?
Something tells me the Karens are going to have an interesting summer.

        • Good to see you old timers get sarcasm(I never use a sarc tag). I was going to say “Canada” but Canaduh doesn’t want them. Chill out…

      • In October, they will migrate south, Tom.

We have a lot of that here in Florida. The bum camps fill up starting around September, and don’t empty out until March-April…

  5. If they let them do that, then they will eventually take over the homes…..Why not? You know what happens when you give a liberal an inch……!!!

  6. Now I have something pique my attention daily as this spectacular example of stupidity reaches it’s predictable climax. 😄😄

  7. My favorite part of this story (from another site) is the guy who had his keys taken at gunpoint but felt bad that he had called the cops and put the robbers lives in jeopardy.

This idiot “accidentally” gave them his house keys so they couldn’t steal his car (so they stole another one). Now, considering his epic levels of idiocy, what are the odds he’s smart enough to change the locks on his house so these people can’t just waltz in at will?

Not that locks do much to stop the determined but, still, bets on this?

      • Exactly.

However, I’m not gonna be shocked if this idiot comes home to find his house looted with “no signs of forced entry” and can’t figure out how the thieves got in.

    • If he also gave them his wallet (with his driver’s license in it) I’d expect he will get a visit sooner or later, hopefully nobody will be home when it happens as there is no reason for his family to pay for his stupidity.

      • I dunno… the Constitution says convictions can’t work “corruption of blood” but this almost feels like we need an amendment on that…

I mean, he’s so dumb I’m not sure he gets hurt himself. Maybe he needs an external punishment like watching his family suffer. Or maybe his SO needs the punishment for being dumb enough themsleves to have a relationship with this idiot.

  8. All sounds good to me. Please, prey on these woke idiots instead of the rest of us. Maybe they’ll let you come in and fuck their daughter.

    • Of the kind that tends to be self-limiting as the idiots allow themselves to be removed from the gene pool.P

  9. the comment section is really good in the NYT article, even NYT readers are dumbfounded by the insanity.

    • “the comment section is really good in the NYT article, even NYT readers are dumbfounded by the insanity.”

Kaitlyn is correct, the comment section is 95 percent “What the actual fuck?” in responses.

      One of my favorites :

“This article could truly be confused with a parody. The condescending attitude of the residents makes then seem even more elitist.”

The problem will clear on its own in about 4 months, Minneapolis winters are literally lethal cold.

      *snicker*… 😉

  10. Let this city and all the other liberal strongholds cave in on themselves. They wanted it. They got it. Now let them serve as a example to the rest of the country.

  11. I am hoping that all liberals proceed in this manner before the election. Once the robberies and rapes start they will quickly become law and order Republicans.

    • Or, with any luck, they will be so ashamed of their callowness that they will start to suicide in large numbers, greatly improving the gene pool of the American people…

  12. Good. New monster freak show in Minneapolis. Buy every filthy hippie a one-way ticket to Minneapolis. I’ll buy a round of stale bong water for all my ‘friends’.
    Go for it, ‘tards.

  13. Some observations:

    1. The junkies will take whatever is not bolted down. Then they will squat in residents’ homes in the winter.

    2. These residents worship victimhood. It is their god.

    3. Any adults raising their children in this environment have abdicated their parental duties.

  14. With the government creating 30 million or more newly unemployed out there this stuff is going to become more common. No jobs, no pensions, no homes. More crime, more drug problems, more misery.
What, or who is causing it all, and why? People need to think about it.

  15. It’s the fresh air and wide open spaces of rural America for me. Far from the hippies and other refuse that tend to congregate in these shyteholes, and the resulting disease and pest infestation. They can keep their coffee shops, gormet cuisine, museums, theaters and other culture, especially when I can get great food and coffee delivered (consumed after a little preparation, of course), and as much culture as I want piped in through the Internet.

I read a comment today in another forum, and it is quite apt: cities are relics of the Bronze Age.

  16. Ooh …. burglaries, soon it will be car-jackings, home invasions, rapes with resultant transmission of HIV/AIDS (if they survive the assault), murders, their children being lured, introduced to drugs then turned-out, pregnant nieghborhood teens, from my perspective what’s not to love with devout Libs/Progs getting a true taste of what the rest of civilized society has to endure. Please pass me a large cup of “I Don’t Give A Shit”.

  17. Like idiots who feed bears and coyote.
It’s all Disney anthropomorphic cuteness until somebody’s bichon gets eaten then it’s hysterical blame passing and cries of “do something!”

Let them keep feeding the bears.

  18. “I’m not being judgmental,” said Carrie Nightshade, 44, who explained that she no longer felt comfortable letting her children, 12 and 9, play in the park by themselves. “It’s not personal. It’s just not safe.”

Sure she is. And you know what, it’s not a bad thing to use one’s judgment, especially when your or your child’s safety is at stake.

  19. Reminds me of the female reporters who went to cover the Egypt protests\riots\whatever and got sexually assaulted because they didn’t seem to realize that when norms are being broken they can’t protect you anymore.

      • That was certainly the one most publicized but there were several others as well from international media.

        • Attractive woman places herself in the midst of a few thousand fired up men who have absolutely no respect for women in a country that has few laws that protect women and the primary religion views women as basically slaves…. What could possibly go wrong?

  20. Interesting that the “protesters” have managed to do what the police never could: Dislodge the homeless camps. Must be real pleasant protesters.

    • Yet another example of how police are largely ineffective and how We the People will “take out the trash” ourselves if police get out of our way.

      • If the police are largely ineffective why has crime spiked in their effective absense? If police were actually ineffective there would be no Ferguson Effect. Calling the police ineffective because crime still exist is like saying the law is ineffective because people still break the law. So if we can dispense with police because they don’t stop 100% of crime shouldn’t we just dispense with law because criminals don’t obey it?

      • So you’d rather live in CHOP than this other neighborhood where the homeless have gone?

I’d suggest that the homeless leaving is more a barometer of the state of affairs in that area than a ringing endorsement.

  21. Feed a stray they stay around and attract more. Soon enough you are buying more food for the strays than for your family.

  22. Noticeably absent from any mention in the article are the “progressive” men living in the neighborhood. So, these wusses are just willing to have their wives (or “partners” or whatever) and children living within spew distance of this human cesspool?

  23. So they plan on calling AIM. Now supposing they actually show up how do you think those native Americans protectors are going to deal with homeless drug addicts who are harassing pale face women and children?

    • I rightly doubt that AIM will even pick up the phone for these people. Even if they did show up, they’d do nothing other than ridicule the pale-face residents of the neighborhood before leaving them to their fate having done nothing to stop the gremlins.

  24. “Indeed. This life’s hard. But it’s harder if you’re stupid.”

    Sometimes it’s also much shorter.

  25. Powderhorn Park??

Interesting name for an ANTI-gun neighborhood… Maybe they should change it to Powder-PUFF Park… surely no self respecting homeless person would take up residence in a place with a name like that…

  26. Well well well, an entire community of soyboys and Karens. How charming. And how stupid.

How do those people manage to dress themselves in the morning?

    • Perhaps the people in the park will move in with them when winter sets in, and teach them how to dress. Among other things they will learn. Like how to be calm and patient while tied up in your own basement and abused daily until the Spring thaw.

  27. Dale Menard says: June 25, 2020 at 20:52
I thought these people believed in Evolution, you know the survival of the fittest.
    _________________

Survival of the fittest… Indeed, but there’s more to it than that.

Democrats are courting political forces beyond their control, referring to rioters, looters, and vandals operating amid recent unrest following the death of George Floyd.

“You can’t call the mob off, ‘Okay, boys. It’s November 4th. We’ve defeated Trump. Now everybody settle down. That doesn’t happen. You’ve unleashed this beast, and there’s no one there to stop it.” Ann Coulter

There is one way to stop it, after it has gone too far and the jennie can’t really be put back in the bottle, but heads, literally, have to roll. As in The Reign of Terror, or commonly The Terror (French: la Terreur) …

By July 1794, 16,594 official death sentences, by guillotine, had been dispensed throughout France.

Robespierre explained the necessity of terror:

If the basis of popular government in peacetime is virtue, the basis of popular government during a revolution is both virtue and terror; virtue, without which terror is baneful; terror, without which virtue is powerless. Terror is nothing more than speedy, severe and inflexible justice; it is thus an emanation of virtue; it is less a principle in itself, than a consequence of the general principle of democracy, applied to the most pressing needs of the fatherland. February 1794

    • The people in Powderhorn Park are the second to last phase of American liberalism. In the final phase, they will offer themselves up for slaughter like the cow in RESTAURANT AT THE END OF THE UNIVERSE, by Douglas Adams.

      • Historically, the new Marxist government will execute these elite and privileged. Their wealth will be distributed among the new party leaders, er I mean given to ‘the people.’ These idiots may cheerfully put their necks in the noose or orderly line up against the wall to atone for their past misdeeds.

  28. Those who support illegal immigration need to take the same approach. Let them have sanctuary homes and neighborhoods. They could probably squeeze a couple illegals in their kid’s room. What could possibly go wrong?

  29. “I’m not being judgmental,” said Carrie Nightshade, 44, who explained that she no longer felt comfortable letting her children, 12 and 9, play in the park by themselves. “It’s not personal. It’s just not safe.”

    NOT BEING JUDGMENTAL???

Oh, fercryinoutloud, Carrie, your statement is the very epitome of being judgmental!

  30. The Districk known as PowderingHorn Park as been a crime infested
area of Minnegrad for three decades.

By the way, today the “community” clowncil voted 12-0 to rid the
folks of po-po. We have avoided entered the municipal boundaries
    for the past ten years.

  31. Some of us live in a former member state of the CSA, with an easily closed bridge separating our legally separate town from the more liberal mainland city. Most of the local homeless stay on the mainland or in a state park and know to stay out of the way of the locals. Last week an outsider of third world extraction attempted to strangle a woman who was emptying her trash. The perp found himself at the receiving end of some affirmative action by three local males, until the police came and took him away. I am honestly surprised that the perp was left alive to be arrested. But in this county a prison sentence is guaranteed. There is no revolving door justice. Concealed handgun permits are shall issue. There are a lot of gun stores. Most people moms their own business. I just hope it stays this way. That’s why I won’t mention the name of the town even to this group.
