By now, the arbitrary and capricious use of opaque site policies, terms and “standards” by various internet platforms to de-fund, suspend and ban firearms-related publications and businesses is old news. But sometimes the pasty-faced techno-wizards who run the dominant social media sites manage to surprise even us.

The latest victim of the ban hammer is…The Well Armed Woman.

Somehow someone at Facebook-owned Instagram was triggered by the purple-shirted brigade’s mission of . . .

[Introducing women] to the ins and outs of armed self-defense, gun ownership, gun safety, shooting skills and products for women shooters. We’ll discuss everything from permits to holsters and we’ll do it in a candid and concise manner.

Pretty scary stuff, no?

TTAG exchanged emails with TWAW’s founder Carrie Lightfoot last night and she’s mystified by what the site might have done that got them de-platformed. Of course there’s zero explanation coming from Instagram.

TWAW provides training, information and sells gear to women who choose to avail themselves of the right to keep and bear arms. The organization has hundreds of local chapters around the country that get women out to the range where they learn gun safety, do some shooting, and have fun.

Come to think of it, maybe the Instagram ban isn’t so mysterious after all.

  1. She is teaching women, a core democrat voting block, that they dont have to be victims dependant on the government to protect, defend, and support them. That is more than enough for the sjw to want to shut her down

  2. The left believes a murdered or raped woman is morally superior to an alive unmolested woman who defended herself. This is actually the core of modern leftism. It demands you not only be a victim, but that you like it.

  3. H’mm.

It’s almost like some folks have a psychosis against an inanimate object that can save lives…

    • joined Hatebook when it was somewhat new as a global platform, around a high school reunion to reconnect (don’t ask me why; if i wanted to see those people over the past many years, i would have looked them up). I saw it devolve into a toxic wasteland, with my so called “friends” split between my Southern, mostly rural demo and the Left and East Coast liberals who populate the industry where i make my living. I saw very little personal good in it, outside some admittedly effective marketing, so i deactivated several years ago, and never looked back.

  4. Women are equal to men in every respect, except they are too frail to defend themselves and must depend on social media and police to keep them safe.

  5. Sorry, ladies, your fellow “feminists” believe the best thing you can do for yourself is quietly submit to victimization and then whine to lawmakers after the fact (if you’re lucky enough to survive) about how they need to take rights away from everyone.

  6. I just checked. Instagram may be down, but The Well Armed Woman web site is alive and well.

    https://thewellarmedwoman.com/.

A woman needs a means of self defense. I firmly believe that a woman should be armed, and I really tried with my wife and daughters. But it only “took” with one of the daughters. Now, it’s too late for the others.

    • Actual websites, being owned by the organization in question (whatever it might be) are much more difficult to shut down than anything on any social media site.
Every social media site owns anything you put on there. Posting on facebook, instragram, etc. is the same as saying, “all I am belongs to you, do with me as you will”.
Not a good idea in my opinion, noting how evil they are, but I guess millions don’t care who they put themselves at the non-existent mercy of, just so long as they get a thumbs up click, or a few “followers”, every once in a while.

  7. There is something bizarre with the boomer fascination of armed women. These women would be better off finding husbands who own guns. That would keep them safer.

Women should be wives and mothers, not THOTs like Dana Loesch. Unmarried women over 30 should have to pay a special tax for their burden on society.

Repeal the 19th amendment and we will be able to keep our guns.

  8. Never been and never will be on faceplant, am not a Brit so not a twit, Insane-a-gram..nope. It is all about trying to impress people you will never meet, and really do not want to mostly.

We get mass shooters because they want to be famous, they want instant gratification, they can get it on Socialist media. Then they can stay in mommy’s basement and leave the big boy toys to those who actually know how to use them properly. But like Parkland, the ones who rail against bully’s are the same ones who did the bullying. No justification, just do it like we used to, bust the bully in the face go to the principle’s office like the old days. Too many SJW’s with too many helicopter parents hovering over them and telling them they are all winners. Reality is: disappointment is part of life.

  9. I AM on Fakebook. Rarely do I ever post anything.(if bad guy’s ain’t tracking you HERE you’re naive as he!!)My beautiful wife has a presence on fb due to her business. She has fellow gals posting pro-2A memes quite often. Peace out…

  10. The gun control lobby budgets are many many times the entire NRA, plus SAF, plus GOA, plus Nat. Shooting sports budgets.
Why would be surprised? The gun grabbers can and do use charitably raised funds, meaning the taxpayer pays half, int he name of “safety” and public welfare to organize major massive corporate influence operations to get corporations to dance to their tune.
    This is just the beginning.

  11. Of course the ads that follows he article of titular and suggestive. PErhaps that. Is a new approach go promoting women activities,

  12. MeWe. Huge pro-gun community building over there with none of the FB censorship. Heck, Larry Correia just came on board.

  13. Agency Arms and another gentleman that did handgun stippling and had 56k followers were also deleted in the last week with no explanation. I am sure there are more.

Looks like they are contributing to ‘gun control’ by purging many gun related accounts.

    • “Looks like they are contributing to ‘gun control’ by purging many gun related accounts.”

On a related note (but, just barely), watched a talking head on Fox today point out that Californication has some of the most strict regulations against gun ownership. The talker pointed out that gun control is working….and we need more.

  14. You hate to see it but we all knew it was coming. The values of the people who run these “main stream” social media sites don’t align with the firearms community. We need a place that is protected from the censorship that is rapidly ramping up and taking down pages like the Well Armed Woman, Agency Arms and others.

So a bit of a shameless promotion here, I work at 2AC3 which is a social media site made just for the pro 2A community. It was made by members of the firearms community FOR the firearms community. You can check it out at http://www.2AC3.com

  15. According to the Libertarians there is nothing wrong with a private company terminating a relationship without notice, without explanation.

And the THEFT of Miss Lightfoot’s private property, and all the thousands of man hours to create and maintain it, that THEFT is ok with Libertarians.

  16. Did anyone research why this account was pulled down, I researched it this morning, Twitter has pulled 938 Chinese troll accounts of which 200 plus in the US which have links to these troll accounts, are sure this site wasn’t linked in some way or they received advertising benefits from these troll accounts? Most of the accounts that have been pulled have direct links to these Chinese troll accounts.
